My brother has been bugging me to go to this place but living in California it doesn't get cold enough for one to want to get a steaming pot of soup so I haven't been in the mood until recently. We came early on a Friday even probably 3pm or so and there was a very small wait of about 10 minutes which is so much better than the wait I saw when we left after dining... Browses the menu and decided on getting the TAIWANESE SPICE and the SEAFOOD to share among 3 people. Each pot comes with a choice of rice or noodles. TAIWANESE SPICE consists of Cabbage, sliced angus beef, tempura, enoki mushroom, tofu, clams, cuttlefish ring, pork intestine, maitake mushrooms, green onion, cilantro,and instant noodles. Taiwanese spice is spicy but sooo good! Something about the saltiness and spiciness just works and keeps you coming back for more even though your tongue is burning. SEAFOOD HOT POT consists of Taiwanese bok choy, , sliced pork, enoki mushroom, tofu, clams, cuttlefish ring, fish fillets, baby octopus, egg, cilantro, and vermicelli noodles. Nice clean broth that has a nice amount of seafood and veggies. We ordered an extra vermicelli and instant noodle to add to the pot and it was more than enough for 3 to share. When your broth runs low they come around with a big kettle of broth to top off your pot. Sauces on the side to make your own concoction to either add to your broth or use as a dipping sauce for your meats and seafoods. Water isn't given unless asked. And service was subpar. We had to ask for just about everything if I'm not mistaken.... napkins...water... extra bowl because the one they gave us was chipped and leaking. At the end they give you a little plastic sauce cup of their rice dessert. I love boiling point, but this location I have to give it a 2. Don't get me wrong, the food was amazing, and it was served quickly. I still give the food 4/5 star, but the service could have been better. We were never given water to begin with, and when I asked a guy server for water he said he'll return, but he never came back. I understand that people could forget, but still not acceptable. I asked another server and he brought it right away. Also this has to be another thing I really didn't like about this location was the distance from table to table! They are too close. It's so close that the servers need to side step and squeeze in between the tables to place food down. I don't like having someone's butt right next to me while I'm eating, and to make it worse the couple next to us was sick and kept coughing and sneezing and blowing their noises, and since the tables were so close it almost made me not want to eat my food anymore. It's always been a long wait but I wouldn't say it was due to a lot of customers on the waitlist-- moreso, it was a lack of competent employees unable to manage basic operations. Came here as a party of 2, and there were only 2 groups ahead of our party as it was later evening. There's always at least 3/4 tables open when I looked and yet the employees are too busy talking to each other and walking in slow-motion. When I asked what was taking so long they claimed they're backed up-- backed up? You guys seem to have the time to socialize with each other and not check up on the customers already seated. The employees all look like they're new staff from what I remember seeing in the past months (years even, but what else do you expect of food service?), so maybe it's taken a change for the worse. After we finally got seated in an hour, we ended up waiting another 20-30 minutes just to order because again, the servers are too busy looking busy (and ignoring their customers) and socializing with each other. We placed our order, then waited ANOTHER 25-30 minutes for our food to come out, which we had to keep constantly asking to be checked on. At the end of our experience, they gave us a handful of jelly as a desperate last attempt for forgiveness. How pathetic. Stay away unless you want to feel ignored and burn a bunch of time. They only had the most unpopular hotpots left. My husband got the last lamb hotpot, but with pork because they were out of lamb. I normally get the beef hotpot but I had to get the seafood one instead since they were out. Their pork was not good, but the fish filets in the seafood hotpot were surprisingly sweet and luckily I fished them out before they overcooked. Definitely get the Hokkaido milk tea with pudding! It was buy one get one 50% off for drinks when we went. The size of the pots also seem smaller and they changed their desserts to konjac jelly versions. Service was not proactive, we had to flag them down to get refills on water, broth, and to put out the fire. I usually order the Korean Bean Paste because I love the addition of ramen noodles in my hot pot. While my BF usually gets the Beef Hot Pot, which is everyone's favorite. When I came in today, I wanted to try something new so I ordered the Tonkotsu Miso, which is the larger portioned hot pot. The soup base is a bit salty for my taste, and needed to be diluted. Although the soup was a bit too salty for me, I enjoyed the meat and veggies that it came with.
