I've heard about this "concept store" and just never made my way here until now. The décor and lighting fixtures add a cute touch to the place and since this is located in Pasadena, CA, their menu is different. It is more fusion based, which means no "stinky-tofu" or funky smells like the other franchises. They substitute that with regular tofu, even for their signature BP special pot. I tried their Japanese Miso and loved it. I decided to try this one because it was different and not offered at other BP locations. The soup was flavorful and delicious. I loved how there was real crab meat, fish filet and fish balls w/meat inside. We also ordered their Angus beef pot and decided to add "cheese" to it. I thought the idea of adding cheese was super weird but because it was our first time, we wanted to experience the whole new thing. The cheese was literally a single slice of cheese layered over the meat slices. I think we could have OPTED OUT from this one now that we've tried it. It tasted like eating a hamburger! Yah, super weird but you're not missing out if you don't get the cheese add-on. The selections of teas were also different. They offer drinks from next door- "Jin the Tea Shop." I tried their grapefruit green tea and it was refreshing. I'm totally digging their teas! Pricing: Lunch is about $13.99 and Dinner is $14.99. The cost is a lot more than the other locations because this is a Concept Store. I would give it a shot to try it out because they do offer different flavored pots if you haven't been here before. Overall, this place is great. Although, I do wish they gave it more thought about the waiting area. The layout is awkward to have people stand along the menu board given the limited space. Perhaps they did that to create the illusion of a large crowd but it makes it super inconvenient. Oh and if you love their bean paste sauce like I do, something was odd about it at this location. The color of the sauce was darker and a lot more saltier which had less the bean taste but more a soy sauce taste to it which was sort of disappointing for me. read more

I always love hot pot and was so looking forward to visiting here, and it pains me to give this a two stars :-/ We came here on a Sunday morning at 11am when they first open so there won't be a long wait and it's a good decision since it got really busy really quick. I got the Taiwanese hot pot and hubby got the angus beef pot. Food came out real quick and it's all cook so we just let it boiled a bit before we dig in. The Taiwanese spicy pot is really oily and spicy, the staff offered to add in regular broth to tone it down. The soup and ingredients are alright, not the best and not the worst neither. Service was descent as well. So, why did I give it a 1 start instead of a 3 or 4??? Me and hubby both got food poisoning later that night and continued to the next day and half that's why... :-/ I was going to give it a 2 because it doesn't taste bad and the service was ok... but... I don't think a place gave us food poisoning should have more than one since it might mislead people to go there. I guess now, due to the cooler weather in Los Angeles, we could say that hot pot spots are the bomb. I mean, it's a break from your usual ramen cravings and a great way to warm your body up in a jiffy. The location's a good size and there's not too much of a wait compared to their Monterey Park location. However, unlike their MP location, there's no Stinky Tofu pot. Service is great but during the dinner rush, they get a tad slow and kind of forget to do the small things like refill your water cup or coming back to give you an extra set of chopsticks etc. But let's talk about food: their Taiwanese Spicy is all sorts of amazing! It's only available in their "flaming" spicy level so it's definitely not for the faint of heart. I took a risk and still went for it but do I regret it? Nope! I love the pork blood cake and the heat that came from the soup, ah, perfection. Take note: I did need at least four refills of water but it was totally worth it. The only thing that I wasn't enthusiastic about was the pork intestine. From all that boiling, it ended up becoming rubbery and just, eh, ugh, ick! My friends got the Angus Beef and Japanese Miso pot both of which looked super delish and lived up to how good it looked! I've got to say though, I do wonder exactly how to eat the crab that's in the Japanese Miso pot. My friend picked on it for a bit but then gave up on it. I mean, seriously, please. I mean duh, I know I have to crack the crab and stuff but there's got to be an easier way to eat it without burning your hands from the heat of the crab shell as well as getting your hands dirty since it's covered with a ton of broth! This Boiling Point location is home base for me. Although they don't do lunch specials (other locations give a free tea drink at lunch) & unit prices are slightly higher, I come here because: *JIN TEA: Jin is pretty premium but you get $1 off you're in dining at BP. There's nothing like organic milk & brown sugar pearls putting out the Taiwanese Spicy Fire *Organic Veggie: This is now my favorite flavor at BP. It's like shabu (even comes with ponzu). The base is really light but flavorful. But, I always upgrade to add pork belly for extra. *Free Side Dish: Unlike other locations, you start out with what we call xiao cai or basically like banchan. It's usually pickled aka vinegary sugary notes to help "open the stomach." At this location, you can also get cheese in your hot pot. Little weird to me but hey, if that's your thing, it's an option here. Not avail at other locations. Also, just found out that this location does give stamp cards - be sure to ask! We came here on Tuesday night around 8:30, we got a very friendly welcome by the staff. When you walk in there's a tablet where you check yourself in, you can print or get the ticket texted to you. We got seated immediately. It's actually a pretty big space, they have two single person bathrooms down the hall. We ordered: Taiwanese spicy with cheddar and egg Angus beef with egg The cheddar definitely is something to add on top!! Try it it's delicious, the egg is a must. Everything went well together. The angus beef broth I got in a medium spicy, it was a little plain but they offer a plethora of sauces to add on. We also ordered the garlic pork belly - it was okay, I would try something else next time. Parking: 2 Stars as there are no free parking but either meter or parking structure Service: 4 Stars ~ Staffs here are friendly Food: 2 Stars ~ I tried their Thai Fusion and my colleagues decided on Seafood & Tofu and Korean Bean Paste My Thai Fusion had way too much cabbage with hardly anything else. There were only 1 piece of tofu, half of baby crab and a piece of tiny octopus. There were a few pieces of squids and claims along with 2 pieces of shrimp but the soup really lacked flavor. My colleagues also felt the same and hardly finished their orders. We also ordered couple of their side dishes. This boiling point is a bit different from the others since it's a concept store. Thus the tomato soup discontinued at other locations is available here. However instead of the classic fresh milk teas they have, the owner opened up a cold brewed tea shop next door. You can get drinks from there with $1 off. There are more flavors available. I still got my usual the organic veggie and it was delicious!! The difference here also is that you can choose white or brown rice. No substitution for vermicelli (just need to pay $1 for it additionally). There are also multiple upgrades you can make to your hotspot. The service was also great! The server we had was so attentive and filled our waters multiple times and asked if we needed anything. We even got a free mini appetizer of seaweed. Overall I felt the service was better compared to the other locations..they seem more happy and there were more servers present also. read more

Took my dad and sister here for hot pot during a Tuesday night and there was not a long wait. We got seated pretty quickly and food came out fairly fast even though all the tables were taken. Only downfall to this location is the parking but it's Pasadena, can't really say much (there are plenty of garages near by and if your lucky, street parking). The concept location in Pasadena offers a bit wider selection of items and to me also is superior in flavor and service compared to the other locations. For the uninitiated, the BP classic is a solid place to start. The lamb and beef bowls are also great if you want more specific protein options. I love Boiling Point and this location does not disappoint. I get the Beef hot pot with no spice and it's so flavorful! It gets really busy here even on weekdays so either come when it opens or expect to wait. The restaurant is pretty small inside and both times I've come here, there has been a strong smell of gas as a result of all the hot pots. Their ventilation could definitely be improved. Additionally, this location is a "Concept". I believe their menu has some additional items but still has the OG hot pots from other locations...but at a higher price. Their food is just as good as other locations if you're in the area, but otherwise I would suggest visiting a normal Boiling Point (there's one in Monterey Park!) read more

a staple in the 626 area! id say all the other chains are as good and delicious so no matter where, you're going to get a satisfying meal. i always get the beef and it is always delicious. broth is clean and has that authentic satay flavor to it. love that the meat is precooked as well. just make sure you let it boil because sometimes the napa cabbage has that weird raw flavor and needs a minute to cook. really great spot and filling read more

For those who love hot pot, but do not love sharing said pot, this is the place for you! I have been to a couple of Boiling Points before in this past, and this location is pretty standard to the others. The wait can be on the longer side especially during peak dining times on the weekends - which can be said for any restaurant in this location. The service is fast and friendly, and the food super delicious and fresh, not to mention H-O-T upon arrival, which is awesome for the colder nights in CA! The establishment itself is well lit and clean. Parking is easy in the adjoining lots (90 min free parking). At this location, there is an adjoining Jin Tea, where you can order boba if you want a tasty treat or something to dilute out the spiciness level (which is pretty spicy!). Yes. Yes. And more yes. This is my NEW go-to Asian food spot that I will drive out for, especially on a cold, rainy night. I was blown away by the fusion of flavors and just want to tell all my friends and family about this place. From my multiple visits, I'm going to recommend my absolute favorite hot pot flavors: MILK CREAM CURRY (10/5): If you're into the flavors that I like, then you'll absolutely enjoy this. I love curry in all my foods and this was a great balance with the cream and I was pleased to still be given the option to keep the level of spiciness at a mild. I'm not that brave yet. The portion is huge and definitely enough to share with two people but I refuse. I simply refuse. There are noodles hiding out in my horrible photo so there isn't a need to order any carbs on the side, but you can if you want! I recommend mixing in the garlic sauce and bean paste for an extra kick (provided in the jars on the table). THAI FUSION (5/5): Yes. Just yep. Only thing I didn't enjoy, which I should have thought about, was the deshelling of the crab legs. I'd rather not have to do so much work with my hands if I'm eating scorching hot soup but that was just a small amount of the entire meal. This particular soup doesn't come with noodles, so I added a side of udon noodles (which they brought out cold for me prior to the soup, but it heated up in the soup fairly quickly). PARKING: Can find on the street by the meters (free after certain times) or you can park in the public parking structures nearby. DRINKS: I realized they actually don't serve alcohol here, however they have a big selection of tea drinks you can order instead. Relatively pricey, especially compared to their SGV location (or so I hear). Still glad it's in Old Town, though! This is an adorable Taiwanese individualized hotpot place: choose from a variety of well-orchestrated sets with different flavors and ingredients. I've tried the Korean Bean Paste pot, the Tender Lamb pot, and the Pomello pot, and they were all good. Inspect the thorough ingredients list if that helps you choose. These combinations are wholesome, fresh, and healthy because of how diverse the ingredients are! I've heard the organic veggie pot is also yum, and my (uh) Caucasian friend who was outside of his comfort zone (tacos) also enjoyed his meal. I once had a quick meal here by myself after landing in LA. I don't usually eat out by myself... but it was definitely ok here! There's a bar by the window so you can entertain yourself with some people-watching. The service for one is just as good as for a large group. Only gripe is the price, but that's Old Town for you. I've still found myself back here a good three or four times. Maybe check out the other locations first... and let me know if it's cheaper there! read more

Bad attitude by server, Nicole, totally ruined my meal and I had to leave without having a bite. I unknowingly brought in a drink and she came with a bad attitude and mean face and said I have to put it in the fridge. She refused to leave us alone and harassed us. I told her that other tables near me had drinks on their table as shown in this picture here and she didn't harass them. When I demanded to talk to a manger she said there was no manager and that she was the supervisor. On my way out people outside waiting to be seated said they were leaving and not eating here if workers are so rude and there is no manager to fix the issues. Such a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't even eat a bite. Clearly this place needs to refocus on some basics on how to treat customers with respect. read more

I am quite unsure as to why this place is called a concept store, but this particular restaurant is quite small. The wait is extremely long but it is quite expected especially in the area that this is in. That is the only reason why I gave this place four stars, but other than that everything was great. The servers were very nice yet efficient since it was so busy. I love this place because this is such a cool idea and so authentic. I love the Taiwanese Spicy pot because it reminds me of when my family and I used to eat hot pot at home. It is extremely spicy so be careful. From the last time I know you are unable to change the spice level on this particular pot but I could be wrong. If you can handle spice very well, I suggest this but proceed with caution! read more

Checked this place out since we were familiar with other BP locations and wanted to see if the BP Concept was worth the hype. I had the lamb, and in comparison with the lamb at other BP locations, this was rather underwhelming and did not feel worth the wait or the increased price. Some of the waitstaff came off as rather standoff-ish towards a few of the guests. read more

Shorter wait compared to Monterey park and San Gabriel location. There's quite a difference. 1. They give free seaweed appetizer, tastes okay. Not bad. 2. They have cheese as an option and free upgrade your size pot for a few dollars more. 3. They have regular tofu and no stinky tofu, it was spicy and sweet which is good. 4. I ordered tea, they do not have classic and Hokkaido milk tea. The tea is very different from the Asian locations. They get it from the tea place next door. It's still good and tastes healthy. I had the beauty oolong milk tea and roasted oolong tea. The oolong milk was better but they are both good. 5. Angus beef as a choice is new and brown rice or white rice instead of vermicelli or udon noodles. 6. Lettuce instead of cabbage, which I have no complaints. I had the angus beef and it was good, but the Taiwanese one I was able to try and tastes much better. This Pasadena boiling point is a decent 3.5 overall. $15.00 a hot pot per person. Its just a one time thing for me. I would not drive here just for that. I like the slight variety though in the menu option. read more

I went to this restaurant to register and wait outside the restaurant, there were many empty tables but I didn't see them calling for a long time, when I asked, there was a table immediately. I ordered Korean hot pot, said it was not spicy when it came out, it was very spicy, no drinking water, it seems they hate customers, don't like work, I know work changes time for money, not as much money as they want or simply hate customers who give them money, if you don't like the job, then find another job where no one forces you to do it, doing so will create negative energy and a long time for your work.. even even though I give tips up to 20%.. the food is good but the service is ugly and people who hate customers work here read more

Just visit this place for my dinner and experienced really bad service. It's very cold outside my friends just wanna stay a bit inside for keeping warm since our number is almost up. The asian waitress ( long ombre yellow hair) came out and yell at us to push us out of the door. And it was not it. She was mean again to everyone when she came out side and yell out loud when checking attendance.
