    #5 Lamb Hot Soup

Love the fact they have individual pots and let you order drinks from Jin Tea Shop next door! Their pots are a little pricey, but honestly do make sense for the fact they are individual pots. They are also secretly big in my opinion. Would go back!

This is my favorite Boiling Point in the SGV. Before COVID, there was always a long line, but nowadays it's not as bad. I used to really love coming here for their brown rice, which was more like a mixed-grain rice to me. Unfortunately, they got rid of it some time ago, which was a bummer. This Boiling Point is probably the smallest location you'll find. The tables are very close together, making it uncomfortable to sit here--you're only about half an arm's length away from the next table. It definitely feels cramped inside. I came here with a friend to take advantage of a deal where you get a free drink and appetizer for completing a survey at the end of the meal. However, the deal was limited to one use per table. We ordered our hot pots, a pork belly in garlic sauce as the appetizer, and an Assam oolong tea. Because the table was so small, fitting everything we ordered felt like a game of Tetris. The tea at 50% sweetness tasted a bit light. The garlic pork belly, however, was actually good, and the hot pots were tasty as usual. The staff members were patient in answering my questions about the deal and were generally attentive to our needs. Parking is usually easy, as there's a parking lot across the street about half a block away. Because of its proximity to my home and the quality of the food, I tend to overlook the space issue and continue coming back to this Boiling Point.

Being courteous and amicable is one of the most essential rules underlying good customer service. Always welcome customers with a smile and a respectful demeanour. Food came out fast and tasted great! Good job boiling point Pasadena.

What We Ordered: #4 Beef Hot Pot $22.73 This is our go-to order at Boiling Point. I wasn't in the mood, but my wife always wants it. Happy wife, happy life, right?! We split one Beef Hot Pot for the three of us, and it was plenty. My wife and son were full, but I was saving room for pizza. It didn't make sense to order two pots. We got our money's worth! We came here specifically because it's a concept location. It was similar to other Boiling Points, but the service was great. At our usual location in MPK, we have to flag down servers. The servers here were attentive and nice! This location is called a concept because they have a tea shop next door. You can order drinks from your server, which is a perk. Another perk is the complimentary seaweed dish and the free drink shot when you pay. We really enjoyed this Boiling Point and would definitely return!

This is my umpteenth time visiting Boiling Point and they never disappoint. Yesterday was unusual as the fire alarm in the condos above were going off, but the restaurant was still open for business. The fire department finally arrived and we had a great experience. For two people we orders the miso with extra beef! It was enough for two people...They even come around to add more broth to your hot pot. BE CAREFUL: Broth is very hot! Never misses. The broth is packed with flavor, rich, and perfectly seasoned comfort food at its finest. Ingredients are always fresh, portions are solid, and everything comes out hot and satisfying. The staff is friendly and keeps things moving even when it's busy, which I appreciate. This is my go-to spot when I want something warming, flavorful, and consistently good. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving hot pot done right.

The perfect lunch after an eventful morning! We came here to eat lunch on a hot day and was pleasantly surprised with the nice AC and good food. We both ordered beef soups and were planning on giving the kid some too. Our waitress surprised us with a complimentary udon noodle soup with bok choy! We still shared some of our yummy beef and fish cakes though. Since we came for lunch, we also got two free drinks included (winter melon juice or roasted oolong tea). We decided to upgrade for just $2.50 for a full tea from Jin next door! As this is one of our favorite boba spots in pasadena, we thought the $5 total for two drinks was a total STEAL! Overall this place is well maintained and run. Come for lunch and stay for yummy soup, free drinks, and complimentary chia seed dessert!

#2 Seafood & Tofu Hot Soup

My friends claimed this location is the BEST out of all the Boiling Point locations and I can finally see why. I got seafood and both of my friends got the Taiwanese spicy. It was very tasty and I can see why it's better than their other locations. They also gave some kind of seaweed appetizer while we waited for our food. We came at the right time, around 4:30pm on a Sunday, so we got a table right away. Service was fast. We all decided this will be our stop after every backpacking trip from now on!

Good soup to have in the area, especially if you had a small meal before. I highly suggest that you get something mild, because you can always make it spicier later. Service was slow, but I won't put it against the waiters because it seemed that most were new.

I love this franchise and all things hotpot. My favorite pot at boiling point is the beef pot, but the individual hot pots allow everyone at the table to eat their favorite things. You can customize your order by choosing a select pot, your spice level, and whether you want vermicelli or rice as a side. There's also a small complimentary seaweed appetizer at this specific location, which was a tasty treat! I'd recommend eating here at lunch because they offer free green tea for lunch orders. This location had very attentive staff. We got our food quickly and didn't have to wait long. The interior was cozy and casual, while also offering boba drinks from the next door shop.

Out of all the Boiling Point locations I've been to - and I've been to quite a few - the Pasadena location is by far the best! The service here is excellent! Every employee is fast, friendly, and really attentive, which made the experience even better than any other location. The food was delicious as always and I highly recommend the beef soup (medium spicy) and the winter melon drink!

    Jason Y.

I love hot pots and whenever I want something that I don't have to the all the cooking I go to boiling point. Everything's so tasty. The broths are all good but I tend to go towards tomato or spicy ones. Looks like a lot of food for one person but I would say it's the perfect amount.

    Taiwanese Spicy Hot Soup
    Heather L.

This was probably my third time having hot pot. I'm generally not a fan of food with a lot of spices, but this place's hot pots weren't overly spiced and were still full of flavor. We shared a milk curry cream and a Taiwanese spicy between the two of us. The Taiwanese spicy only comes in a flaming level, and I had a hard time with it -- it's no joke. There were plenty of toppings inside, so we left feeling full. I'd give it 4.5 stars, but the service was below average.

After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.

I was lucky enough to snag a same-day reservation at dinner time for a party of five. It gets busy so I always recommend getting a reservation online. Parking is easy. There is a parking structure behind the restaurant. There aren't any big signs pointing to it so keep an eye out for a side street opening into a small parking garage. As always, the soups are very flavorful and the meats are always tender and delicious. They allow you to select two soups per pot and I always get a sukiyaki. I love that it comes with poached raw eggs too. I always get the beefs and they always hit so good. My favorite is the wagyu beef curry. It is soooo good and I always get multiple plates of it. Now, the reason why I gave this place 3/5 stars today is unfortunately due to the service. I usually have such a great time at the other Mo Mo Paradise locations I have been to, but unfortunately I felt extremely rushed during this visit. For the majority of our visit, we had a great time. But when we ordered our third round of meats, we found out that we had missed our "Last Call" time and only had 10 minutes left to sit. Our server had unfortunately forgotten to tell us when our "Last Call" was and did not ask us if we wanted to order anything else. This was so disappointing, since I felt like we had barely ordered any meats at this point. Feels bad, especially considering we spent $250+ for this meal. They did give us ice cream, but during these last 10 minutes, the server kept coming to our table saying - "you only have 7 minutes left... you only have 4 minutes left... etc." I was rushing to eat my ice cream so fast. At one point, the server started clearing our plates and our pots while we were finishing our meal. I remember eating a carrot and the server almost pulled the plate from me as I took a bite :( She said she would come back in a minute... The server seemed to be guilt tripping us a little bit too :// She kept telling us that the next party was waiting for our specific table, but I found that to be weird because the empty table behind us could seat six but they weren't in any rush to finish cleaning that other table for some reason. My friends and I usually come out of Mo Mo Paradise so full and happy, but we just had a sour taste left in our mouth because of they rushing us. We also were unable to eat to our hearts' content :( It was weird, when I left the restaurant there really only seemed to be about five people waiting too... Just not sure what was going on that day but it was Memorial Day weekend... maybe they were understaffed or something... This was a really disappointing experience because of this. I have very high expectations for Mo Mo Paradise and normally this place would get more than 5 stars for me, but it just fell a little short that day.

Great japanese style hotpot, as the name suggests. Service is warm, friendly and fast. It's a huge…read moreplace with common hotpot place setup, a tiny bit more cramped though so you slightly can whiff the food on the next table. Could be good for you, or the opposite. Disclaimer first, i'm a huge fan of chinese style hotpot. Luckily all that shabu offers a selection of broth and sauces. They are true japanese style, so don't expect mala here, even the chili oil is a bit hidden on containers a bit away from the sauce bar. I tried the spicy beef broth, it has miso flavor and slightly tangy undertone. It has heat, but not spicy at all. The spicy pine sauce and wasabi ponzu (the best!) fulfills my search for heat in this place. All the sauces (except sesame sauce) has acidity/tangyness in it. The meat are good quality and very thin so it's ready in just a few dips. The brisket is fatty, and it's my favorite but only at this place thanks to the acidic profile that cuts through the rich fats. The short plate is very thin and tender, the flat iron steak is more lean. The chuck eye is kinda the middle ground. Unfortunately lamb only served as dinner menu. The vegetable and mushrooms bar have adequate variety, but they only have two kinds of tofu which is soft tofu and fried tofu pockets. No beancurds/tofu skin. They have more selection in seafood though. There's ice cream, soda fountain, green tea and black tea, and even buffet food like fried rice and wonton etc. Overall it's a well-priced hotpot for good quality ingredients, with japanese style broths. And the best thing is they accepts solo diners.

I had All That Shabu a really long time ago in Irvine and remember loving it, but there's just so…read moremuch competition in OC so I haven't been back in years! I tried it again with my friend the other day because we were in the area. I thought it was just okay and probably wouldn't come back here specifically because there's just a lot of better places, but this isn't bad at all for the price. The inside was huge and dimly lit, and they had a large self serve bar for hot sides, drinks, hot pot toppings like veggies and seafood, sauces, and dessert. It was a great vibe! There's a pretty large variety of broths to pick from which is nice. We both got the spicy beef, which tasted rich and tomatoey so it was different than a typical beef bone broth that I expected! It was nice because the acidity helped to balance with the richness of the meats. Of all the meats, our favorites were the brisket and the beef short plate. Personally I like to know which meats are which but sometimes when I asked, the servers couldn't really tell them apart so it kinda sucked because I wanted to know which ones I actually liked to order more of those. They were quick with taking our orders though and meats came out really quick. For hot sides, they had a large variety of things, such as fried rice, crab, crispy fried chicken, kimchi, and more. I liked that there was variety! I just think that overall, the experience didn't wow me as much as it did back then, but definitely cheaper than most places and so you get what you pay for!
