After advising another waiter cause our waitress was yapping with other table and was not paying attention even after being told 3 times that there is a problem I reordered meal to a orange chicken which was just as bad. A pretty interesting meld of many different Asian cuisine including Japanese, Thai, Chinese. The service here was truly excellent. Great value for sushi during happy hour! My 4 stars include good service and fresh ingredients in a clean and kept up environment. I give then another star if I could enjoy happy hour in a table and comfy booth seating instead of sitting in the bar area. But, happy hour means a wonderful value for what you get! I went here for lunch yesterday with one of my girlfriends. We both ordered the wok 'n drop martini, which is their version of a lemon drop. The drink was tasty! I'm sorry I went here with any expectations at all which may be the reason for the 2 stars. The prices were downtown prices for the sushi and fell way short of the value/quality mark. My friend had the chinese style food and it was ok but not worth my ride since I am not a local. The menu is a hodgepodge of asian cuisines and that I believe in places like this that they can do an passable job of any style but never excel at any one. My advice is that if you have to go here then stick to the chinese which is harder to mess up and if you want sushi then go downtown or to mount prospect, which has a japanese community and has better options. read more

I came here for some take out order, service was ok, nothing out of this world. The hostess seem to have gotten upset when we said we were going to order take-out and then unwillingly walked us over to the take-out counter. Outstanding!! The food is all great tasting, super fresh and very attractively presented. The specialty rolls are as good as it gets. My favorite is the Crispy Crunchy roll, but they are all excellent. The traditional rolls are all very fresh and good as well, but not as exciting as the specialty rolls. The appetizers are all great too. The Yakatori Beef is to die for and comes with a side of Asian slaw that is so fresh I think they must prepare each order just before it comes to the table. The crab Rangoon is the best I have had anywhere, served with a particularly good sauce. After the Yakatori, my husbands favorite is the calamari and my daughter's favorite is the lettuce wraps. I am reluctant to tell everyone about the happy hour because I'm afraid of not getting a seat if it gets too crowded. read more

The Hong Kong Calamari was spicy And flavorful, the sushi came out fast and was really tasty (try the Tuna Takake Roll!) and the staff wa courteous and attentive. I think if we didn't order as we went along we'd be done with dinner in under 30 minutes! Which is not enough time, in my opinion. I had no idea I have a great Sushi restaurant near my house! As usual I purchased a groupon and brought a friend to come enjoy diner with me. Let me say the group deal was great because it was 15 for 30 and you can order 3 specialty Maki rolls for 38 dollars. Some Maki rolls can go up for 18 dollars! So we saved almost twenty dollars more by getting that and using the groupon. I also didn't know they had happy hour on weekdays and all the tradional rolls are half off! I am totally doing that as soon as the weather clears up a bit! Anyway the atmosphere was really nice it had a modern Asian feel and the wooden tables were sheek and clean. We ordered the St. Charles roll which were almost completely fired rolls with I believe crab meat and a spicy mustard sauce. I didn't like them so much it tasted fine but the texture was a no-no for me. My friend adored them however. Next was my our favorite the inky green. It was absoultely amazing, on par with one of the best pieces of sushi I have ever eaten. It was a sushi rolled with avacado and topped with a lightly grilled scallop. I've had scallops before but never likes this. It was not chewy at all but almost melted in your mouth and there was a slight crunch to it because of the tempura bits on it so it wasn't to soft or to crunch. Such an experience. Lastly we ordered the Scorpion which I was dissapointed on because they said the pieces were huge, were they were just more slices of the roll, it wasn't too bad or too good just as we called it "filler" sushi. Again, I say this place would get zero stars if I had a choice. I get a call from the owner Siri today - wow- can I say what a jerk? He is super rude, speaks in a horrible tone, and is not at all polite. I can see how insincere he was for calling me but did it just to do it. I could not believe that the owner was worse than his employees. He calls me and talks to me in an accusing tone- basically defending his staff when really its literally my words against theirs and of course who would admit to fault on the job?? Wok N Fire gave me problems previously and I gave them another chance only to have another problem. He wouldnt take responsibility for the mistakes his staff made, he accused me of saying "Ill just complain again and get another one of these" that he says his staff said I had told them but there is no way I would say that. My husband and I clearly remember me saying "you know the reason why I got this certificate was because of a horrible experience I had at the Wheaton Wok N Fire. Now Im going to have to call and complain about this experience" to the "manager Liz" there. I dont know who was lying about this whole thing Liz or My server Giana but they are all horrible people. I would say avoid this place at all costs-- Im all for supporting small business- you can find better food and authentic in other places other than a chain. If the owners of wok N fire dont care about their customer satisfaction and wont take responsibility for the poor conduct of their employees then who will? My boyfriend and I went to Bok Choy for dinner and to say the least, it was easily the most overwhelmingly disappointing dining experience I've had in a long while. The waiter was not attentive and spent more time flirting with some girl sitting at the bar than he did waiting tables. We waited for fifteen to twenty mins for him to take our order and I had to get up and give him our check so we could leave. To top it off, I felt that the food was mediocre at best and was way too pricey for the quality. I'm a fairly easy person to please and I have never written a review before, but I felt like sharing my experience to save other people their money. We have dined in this restaurant and enjoyed our meal. So at Christmas time we received a gift card as a gift and decided to use it after New Years. When we arrived at the restaurant we noticed the name change on the front "Bok Choy", so we went in and they refused to honor the gift card- they said we have to use it at other locations. Worst service ever. Had to wave down a waiter to place our order and get water. Had water to drink and had to keep asking for it to be filled. Was watching other patrons and so many employees walked by their tables and not even acknowledging them. They just sat there. The owner was on the floor answering complaints from another table. As we were leaving I asked for a manager on duty. There was not one just the owner. He advised that that was the last night for our server. He told me three strikes he was out. I've experienced awful food here before, and I've experienced sub-par food here but with underwhelming service. I love authentic asian food, but I'm down with going to a chain that may be more fusion inspired, which is what Wok 'N Fire is. If you love to eat more than your daily required sodium level in one sitting, then you'll love their food. On my second to last visit, I ordered the salmon and it was so saturated in sweet and salty sauce that it no longer tasted like fish anymore. It was actually disgusting, and I am often very lenient as far as food expectations go. I don't EXPECT to walk into Wok 'N Fire and be delivered a decadent dish, but I do expect something decent. The fish was NOT that. However, this past week I went with my mother. She ordered the beef tenderloin skewers as an appetizer to have with her bowl of Tom Yum Goong. I gotta hand it to Wok, they always deliver on their soup. It's the one thing we ALWAYS get because we know we wont be disappointed. The spices are perfect, there is a subtle lemon/lime tang to it, and the shrimp tastes on point. She said her beef appetizer was good as well. It was a gracious serving (probably could have served 3 people) and the meat was cooked well. We also ordered the Chicken Tandoori Wraps as an appetizer as well, which were one of the specials. I was pleasantly surprised. The dough used for the wrap tasted of buttery & flaky goodness, and the chicken was seasoned well and came with a large portion of cabbage/pepper doused in a light dressing. I highly recommend it. I also had the Red Dragon Roll. The spicy tuna on top was SO salty, I had to wipe it off the roll with my fork. The filling was okay, but the tempura shrimp tasted...old? It tasted like the shrimp had been fried in the tempura batter hours ago. The actual IDEA of the Red Dragon roll is spectacular, but the execution was not. On top of it, you can only get 1/2 the sushi during happy hour if you sit at the bar. This is not the case at the Elmhurst location, but your server actually TELLING you about the Happy Hour deal is another story. And to top it off, the place was virtually empty and it still took a while for someone to greet us and seat us. The ambiance was not especially welcoming. read more

The food is ok. Not the best sushi ever, especially for them being over-priced compared to other sushi restaurants. I mean, a Dragon Roll is a California Roll topped with avocado and unagi for $13. Where is the shrimp tempura like what they have everywhere else?? Plus, they charge almost $10 for their pho bowl. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I've paid almost less than half of that at other restaurants that serves 2 people! Im not trying to be frugal, but I don't feel like I'm getting what I pay for. So, I only come here if there is a Groupon. Also, I don't think it's a good idea for the waiters/waitresses to take a patron's phone away to redeem the paid Groupon at the register. I stumbled upon this place during my first week of work in a new location (a month ago). At lunch the place was packed. Which to me was a good sign. I ordered a lunch special - very reasonable and very tasty - Pad Thai. Service was great, noise level was okay. The biggest complaint I have is that the place is too dark for lunch. They keep the blinds closed and it bothers me. I went back about a week later for happy hour. That was fantastic. Half price martini's and half price sushi. The bar area was nicer to me, than the restaurant. Go figure. read more
