Bonchon is one of thee best places to eat chicken. I've been here a handful of times & they have been really consistent with their chicken. Their soy garlic is hands down, the best flavor. I do love their spicy flavor too, but sometimes its too spicy for me to enjoy my food, so I'll just stick with soy garlic. But you can always go with half & half and pick two flavors. The chicken is always cooked so perfectly, with the skin so crispy. The pieces of chicken are also good sized. I also enjoy their garlic fries. Something about it makes it so crispy. They do have other Korean favorites like bulgogi, Korean tacos, Bibimbap, pork buns, etc. I especially love the bulgogi fried rice. As far as pricing, I believe it's fair, and you get what your moneys worth here. The service has always been excellent as well. The servers/hostess have beeN very attentive. The restaurant is clean. I can't stop thinking about their wings! Seriously, I'd heard about them. And then heard about them again. And again. Then...I tried them, and it's basically been an OBSESSION ever since! Tasting them for the first time was magical. The sticky to the touch goodness of the secret soy garlic sauce is something I don't ever want to forget. I want to drizzle it on EVERYTHING! Then the crispy, crunch of the coating. Blend the flavor with the texture and you have one of my favorite wings ever! I honestly don't even care what else is on their menu. At all. But to add something to the mix, we ordered the Bulgogi Sliders sans red onions. The hostess didn't mention the spicy aioli, so I only tried a couple bites of them. It was good, but not good enough to deter my focus from the wings we ordered. The only thing I need to do differently is to ask if they have the 'flats' instead of the wings with the 'tips.' I don't like the tipped wings and those are what come in the regular 'small' order of 10 pieces. I still ate them, don't get it twisted, but for my next visit that will change! Since my first experience was their catering style, I'd never been to the location. Last night we called in the order and picked it up to enjoy at home. The inside is clean and nothing to note really. It's like a very sterile fast food spot, but not really fast food. It's fast-ish food, I'd say. They do sell Pepsi which is an extra bonus star for them! I can't review the service, but I don't really care. It would have to be really awful for me to care about eating their delicious wings. I've always been the type to want to try new places, so imagine my excitement and I absolutely love chicken wings. (Initial feeling) Now I go to bonchon once a week or every other week. That's how much I love this place. Small but cute. Tables. Wooden booths, bar seating style. This is what I've already ordered from times I've eaten here: chicken/bulgolgi sliders, fried rice, rice cake, pork buns, shu mai deep fried, fries (season and regular) onion rings, JAP Chae, bulgoli plate, and chicken/bulgoli tacos. I can honestly say I will always only order the wings, spicy only, spicy chicken sliders, and maybe regular fries. Just the chicken sliders and spicy alone I would give this place 5 stars. The place is in a mini mall tucked away towards the back, but don't let that deter you from finding it and simply walking in, it's well worth it! I was greeted by a friendly hello and a welcoming smile, I let them know I was new to their establishment and Christina ( my server) quickly grabbed me a table and a menu, she knew I was a bit confused looking at the menu because it was new to me, she quickly let me know that the chicken is what they are known for, she took my order of half spicy and half soy garlic. KABOOM!! It was fabulous! Seriously it was very very good! The spicy was right at the limit of holy crap it's hot and I want to take another bite, the soy garlic rounded off the meal perfectly! Tried lunch this time around. Medium busy on a wet Friday afternoon. Had the fried chicken lunch special with the soy sauce. Wow, I've had a lot fried chicken in my life and this probably is the best i have ever had. The bulgogi tacos were terrific and the potstickers were also yummy. Finally, the fries were very good. Stopped in on Saturday and while it has a big dining area they also have a little bar off to the right with baseball on the TV and a full bar. The place has a modern feel and was very clean and had plenty of servers allowing for quick service. Ordered the Wings and selected Half & Half for my sauce as half the wings were Spicy and the other half was Soy Garlic. The wings were excellent!!! The skin was so crunchy and the chicken was moist. It's hard to back to regular fried chicken once you've had Bonchon's. Their soy garlic wings will not disappoint. Their soju is bomb too. And so is their japchae. Overall, I love this place. This location is about a 40 min drive from where I live, but you better believe I will make this trip at least twice a month. If you can't decide which one, there's a limited time offer for their "Seriously Saucy Sampler" that gives you 8 wings of each flavor. 24 in total for $26.95. Even with the sauces added to the wings, I still felt like it was dry. Because bonchon has a lack of flavors, I would rather explore to other options. When you walk in the place looks really nice. When you walk in you are immediately greeted and showed to a table. The service is good and everyone is very friendly. It is a bit pricey but the food we got was awesome. The style of service is family style where everyone shares the food that is ordered. My party and I got a main dish like bibimbap and some chicken strips. If you like spicy food, try the spicy chicken. It's got a lot of flavor and if you eat a lot of spicy food like I do, the hotness is just right. It's not too spicy in my opinion but others I went with said it was spicy. How is the chicken so moist?! I have never had moist chicken strips before! This is why I love this restaurant. Soy garlic chicken strips: for the non-spicy people. I personally would add hot sauce but this was pretty flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised at how moist these strips were. Tteokbokki: I was not a fan of this. The person I went with can't handle any spice so maybe this is why this dish had no flavor whatsoever. I will not get this dish again. Takoyaki: this was surprisingly moist without being rubbery. I think the sauces drizzled on top enhanced the dish. Salmon avocado ball: we wished we got two of this dish. It was that good. So much flavor with salmon, avocado, crab meat and tempura. We devoured this in minutes. Bulgogi sliders: I would also pass on this dish again. The bulgogi was tough so you felt like you had to devour the whole thing in one bite. Shrimp shu mai: I love dim sum so I was excited to hear they fry this. I was disappointed because there was no flavor. I couldn't taste shrimp. I felt like it needed a lot of Sriracha to help. Overall I really like this restaurant. There's a reason there's a wait list most nights. I think it's great to go and order a bunch of dishes to share. read more

I finally had a chance to come by and try it and was hoping there wasn't too crazy of a wait but what perfect timing we came on a Saturday around 3-4 and no wait at all. We ordered the wings (garlic soy sauce flavor) , the salmon ball, calamari & edamame. And wow let me just say the wings was better than I expected! It was nice and crispy and the flavor was popping!! It was just perfect! The calamari has the same sauce on it so it was delicious!! The salmon ball was good but wasn't what I expected , it was like a salad ball wrapped with salmon. The edamame was served cold with season salt. I just perfect it warm/hot but no complaints here. So definitely would recommend this place if you want delicious wings! We came during happy hour, but didn't order anything from there and only noticed a dollar or two in price differences (used to the "at least" 50% off appetizers). Order was taken, friendly service, food came out within the average time. Consequently, the bibimbap bowls or fried rice didn't have much flavor to them, but the japchae (?) certainly did. Also ordered the kamari, but these weren't on the menu. Happy that I asked about them because they were delicious (2 for $1). Food quantity was good, had plenty of leftovers. The fried calamari was a bit salty, but with the mixing of the other dishes it worked out fine. Will visit again when back in town to try the more modern dishes. read more

I had a wonderful meal at Bonchon. The restaurant was nice and clean. The food was delicious. I ordered the tacos which I can't seem to stop eating. I have tried Bonchon all over town. What made this experience great was the fact that I received excellent service from my server. His name was Lonnsll. Lonell was very attentive without hovering. I noticed that he was checking on all of his customers and he managed to bus the tables and keep the restaurant tidy. A clean restaurant always gives me a pleasurable experience. We got the boneless wings witt spicy sauce and the sweet sauce. It was sooo bad. Barely any sauce, the sweet sauce was just honey and it was gross, it was mostly really hard breading and dry chicken. The second item we got was the bull dak and again such dry chicken omg. We couldn't finish it and we were super hungry. Even the rice wasnt good like at most korean reataurants. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes when I order other items such as takoyaki, they leave out a bunch of ingredients and it doesn't taste very good. We left early for the weekend of July 1st to satisfy my husband's craving for Chimaek, which is basically fried chicken and beer. This is by far, the best fried chicken we have had. The only disappointment would be in their beer selection, which is about standard. For starters we had pot stickers and the salmon avocado ball (which is salmon, avocado, cucumbers covered with tempura flakes). My son had popcorn chicken, which is listed as a starter but has the best kimchee sauce to go with it. The chicken comes in either wings or drumsticks or a combo if you'd like and a side of radish kimchee, which compliments nicely. The prices are reasonable, considering the amount of food they give you. The food is always good. I really, REALLY wish there was one of these in Reno but until then, we will probably stop by every time we are in town. Check it out when you're in town. My daughter was craving this place again and we are back in NorCal for soccer games and What do you know, there is a Bonchon in Elk Grove!!! So we are always satisfied with the SunnyVale location but this Elk Grove puts Sunnyvale to shame. Their place was much cleaner and nicer in general. It was twice the size of the Sunnyvale location. The service here was a step above. Everyone worked as a team here. They were fast, attentive and all had a great sense of humor. The menu was much more extensive which is weird for a chain. The menu had so many pictures that it was too overwhelming to take pictures. Obviously we ordered the usually 20 piece wings but this time we did half and half of the Spicy and Soy Garlic. We also added a 6 piece boneless sampler of the sweet crunch. I don't know what made them so much better because it's the same flavors but it definitely tasted better. Maybe choosing the half and half mix was the difference, not sure, but everything was better. Did I tell you that they are CRISPIEST wings ever!!!! Love the crunch on these delicious little wings. We got the pickled radishes, coleslaw and rice as the sides. Everything we tasted was at peak freshness. We also ordered the bulgogi tacos and they were phenomenal. The flavors were complex yet simple. It was sweet, savory, tangy with a hint of spice. We also ordered pork belly buns and again complex but simple. Perfectly crisp, melt in your mouth pork belly bites with cucumber, slaw and sauce in a Chinese steam bun. Perfect textures and flavors and a new favorite of mine! Finally, we tried tteakbokki- a chewy Korean rice cake in a spicy red chili sauce with cheese and kimari. This was extremely interesting in every way and fiery hot! It was really good but definitely not something I think I would order frequently. Everything here went beyond my Bonchon expectations.
