I am not impressed and so disappointed that I wasted money here. I'd give it zero stars if I could. The crispy chicken was anything but, and the cleanliness of the establishment was unacceptable as well. How can you ask patrons to sit in another person's mess? I stopped by Bonchon Town Center on a recent Saturday afternoon with my wife for Korean fried chicken, and we were quite pleased with the results. We ordered 20 half & half wings (10 spicy, 10 soy garlic) and a side of fries to split for lunch after having a late breakfast. The service was fast and pleasant, and the chicken and fries came out quickly. The fries were fresh, crispy, and delicious, just as the wings were. The soy garlic was a pleasant mix of sweet and salty, and the spicy wings came as advertised- spicy. My wife and I are lightweights, so we ate about 12 wings between the two of us at lunch and saved the rest for later. As a South Korean native, my wife is picky about her Korean chicken wings, but Bonchon passed her test (mine too). We definitely plan on returning to Bonchon when we're in the Town Center area and in the mood for wings. read more

If you like spicy you need to try the Tteokbokki it is a hardy dish with rice cakes and fish cakes simmered with scallions and onion in Bonchon Hot Sauce then topped with mozzarella cheese. The rice cakes are very filling and the sauce is has a good amount of heat but the cheese helps balance it. The dish was also served with two tempura fried seaweed stuffed rice noodles. It adds a new texture and flavor profile to the dish. I would even order by themselves with a spicy dipping sauce. The Takoyaki was a little too fishy (fried octopus dumplings). I have had before but this was a little too strong and the breading was a little soft in my opinion. My friend got the chicken tenders they were good but I would say they needed more sauce. I would give this place a 7/10. My fiancé and I stopped here for a late lunch / early dinner after work. Third place is pricey for kinda low quality. The wings were crispy, but really over sauced, the bulgogi fried were really a hit or kiss, and unfortunately they were a miss that day. They really just reminded me of a deconstructed big mac with a plate of fries. Our server however, was absolutely fantastic. Marshall was doing great, he constantly checked up on us and was overall a great guy. The place was empty when we got there, so business is probably slower, but that doesn't affect my review. There compliments of the food here was very well deserving. I ended up ordering a plate of chicken strips with half soy garlic and half sweet crunch. I love both flavors as they complimented the crispy chicken well. I am a sauce girl and would of loved some extra to dip my strips into! I also got a side of pickled radish because I've never had it. It was another great choice. The radish is perfectly pickled yet has a nice crunch to it, kind of similar to an apple. I would definitely order the strips and radish again! The chicken wings are freshly made-to-order so you will need to give some time for prep and frying. The decor is well put together and clean. Loved the wall with Bonchon locations in different countries and cities. On one occasion, came in with a group of four people and we ordered the Large Combo Half & Half (15 wings+8 drumsticks), seasoned fries, a side of coleslaw and kimchi. I've had their pickled radish and for some odd reason, the flavor was not in my favor. Maybe because I'm used to the traditional or other pickled radishes from Korean restaurants, I don't know, who knows. But anyways, like always, the wings were appetizing and heavenly to eat. Very hot, crispy and flavoring. The seasoned fries, absolutely amazing: super crispy/crunchy, hot and delicious. In another occasion, I had the Salmon Avocado Ball. It wasn't so delicious that I want to go back for more... i got the garlic soy sauce, which was OK but not finger licking good. If you want delicious fried chicken I would recommend going to hawkers and getting their double fried wings: they will knock your socks off. I just happen to drive by this place and look them up on yelp. With so many reviews I got a group of girls together to check it out. For a Wednesday night this place was packed. There's not a ton of seating but almost every table was taken upon arrival. Once sat our waitress was super attentive and suggested what to get. We decided to split an order of boneless wings mixed sweet and spicy. For me the spice was a little bit too much for me but the sweet was just rice. I also ordered the spicy chicken tacos. They come in an order of three and are huge! The tacos were full of flavor but again the chicken was just a tad spicy for me so I used ranch and cucumbers to cool it down. The spicy wings do have a little kick to them so the radish and a bowl of white rice really helps to alleviate the pain. They comp'ed the bowl of rice for me. Hooray! Our family's Bonchon favs were the half and half wings, potstickers and bulgogi fried rice. Personally, the spice level of the wings wasn't too high (to me) but the half spicy and half soy garlic option is a good idea if anyone in your group isn't fond of spicy especially if you have kiddos partaking in the wings. The pickled radish accompaniment is a good balance to the wings too! Everyone also liked the pork buns, kimchi (yum!) and chicken katsu. We also ordered the fried octopus dumplings - they were good but the size of the octopus inside seemed smallish. Overall, the food is good and service was surprisingly fast. Tucked away from the busy, booming areas of the Town Center, Bonchon is a cute little restaurant on Gate Parkway and Town Center Parkway. With so many new restaurants popping up in Jacksonville, what attracted so many people during their first day of opening? Well, apparently this is a chain restaurant and judging from the volume of customers, they are well known for their Korean Fried Chicken! First impression: tiny establishment. If you have a large group... stay away! At least for the first few weeks! I came in on opening night with my best friend and two kiddos. We waited to be seated for about 30 minutes. Not bad, except I noticed another family was there way before me and they weren't seated for another extra 15 minutes simply because they didn't have room for them. If it were me, I would be so upset after being skipped 5 times to accommodate smaller parties. That should've been handled better. Us, on the other hand...we waited about 30 minutes for the food. So one hour overall. Worth the wait? Heck yes. Korean Fried Chicken is the best fried chicken ever. Bonchon's version is incredible. Very savory, crispy, moist, tender and drenched in that delicious sweet soy sauce with a little kick to it. I don't know that I can ever get tired if this food. If "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" movie had an Asian food version in real life, I would stand outside with an umbrella upside down to catch Bonchon's Korean Fried Chicken before anything else. The food was cold and overcooked and we begrudgingly ate it. when i got home i called the restaurant in durbin to express my concerns and after several follow up phone calls, today I finally spoke to tyler the kitchen manager. They're a bit dry. And while the garlic ones are kind of tasty, the soy ones are also rather bland. The content is just a single blob of meat with no color, which tends to make me suspect something is frozen/prepackaged. $11 also seems a tad pricy for 8 of these.....things. Seasons Dumplings charges you only $9 for 8 legit pan-fried dumplings, and you can watch them make all of it from scratch. I would prefer the takoyaki to be hotter. If the baka gaijin don't accidentally burn their mouth by popping them in, then it's not hot enough. Lol. There's no green onion or ginger, but there's too much cabbage. That means there's not much left in the dish to hold against the savoriness of the takoyaki. *sigh* The takoyaki itself feels......I don't know.....a little too mushy maybe. The buldak was the only thing I liked. It's actually quite spicy by default. Plus, even though it's meaty and cheesy, it still has a good amount of veggies with a strong kimchi flavor that makes it identifiably Korean. This was my first time visiting bonchon. I didn't know it was a sit down restaurant, but I liked the interior of the restaurant, which was a little more upscale than I expected. The waiter was friendly, but I could tell he was overwhelmed with handling all the tables. Thankfully I wasn't in a hurry and was able to sit back and relax. I started off with a South Korean beer, Hite, which was on special during happy hour. It paired very well with the half and half chicken wings I picked. My daughter ordered our lunch to take out thinking I wouldn't have time on my delivery route to sit and dine in. However had to give it another shot since other locations (NY and Dallas) have been better. And I'm glad I did. We both liked the spicy better (although not spicy, but had good flavor). The sweet crunch was also good, but not as fantastic as spicy. We got the radish with it. Very good! And a good amount. I really enjoy Bonchon! I feel like it's a good place to suggest to friends and family, especially if you happen to go for lunch. Their lunch special includes 8 wings or strips + a side for less than $10, which is pretty reasonable considering it leaves me full and satisfied (and sometimes with a bit of leftovers). They also have a lot of other options if you're not into wings but still enjoy Korean food. However, if this is your first experience with Bonchon, I highly recommend you at least try the wings. Soy garlic is my favorite flavor out of the three; spicy is waaay too spicy for me to handle, and sweet crunch isn't as flavorful as soy garlic. Soy garlic really hits the spot! The wings have such a satisfying crunch and pair well with either a side of rice or pickled radish. I feel like they don't skimp out on the meat. Other menu items I've tried are the seasoned fries (which are also really good--fresh, crispy, and flavorful), tteokbokki (way too spicy for me--to the point where it's hard for me to enjoy the experience), takoyaki (good--I'd order again!), and the bibimbap (also good). One of my favorite places to eat when I'm near the Town Center. Would recommend! read more
