I really enjoy Bonchon! I feel like it's a good place to suggest to friends and family, especially if you happen to go for lunch. Their lunch special includes 8 wings or strips + a side for less than $10, which is pretty reasonable considering it leaves me full and satisfied (and sometimes with a bit of leftovers). They also have a lot of other options if you're not into wings but still enjoy Korean food. However, if this is your first experience with Bonchon, I highly recommend you at least try the wings. Soy garlic is my favorite flavor out of the three; spicy is waaay too spicy for me to handle, and sweet crunch isn't as flavorful as soy garlic. Soy garlic really hits the spot! The wings have such a satisfying crunch and pair well with either a side of rice or pickled radish. I feel like they don't skimp out on the meat. Other menu items I've tried are the seasoned fries (which are also really good--fresh, crispy, and flavorful), tteokbokki (way too spicy for me--to the point where it's hard for me to enjoy the experience), takoyaki (good--I'd order again!), and the bibimbap (also good). Me and my co worker went here for lunch. It is my first time here but not for hers. I actually enjoyed my lunch. They have a lunch special that you can choose from. I chose the strips. It is 8 strips of chicken and you have a choice of sauce , hot, garlic and soy and honey crunch I think is the last one? I got the garlic soy and honey crunch, not a big fan of the honey crunch but I love the garlic soy and the lunch special comes with one side and of course I chose the white rice lol. My daughter works near a Bonchon location. She and her co-workers are addicted to the soy garlic fried chicken. I got to visit. Had seasoned zucchini fries...hot, crispy, and addictive. Tried the fried rice and enjoyed the flavor. We also had the pork buns with pork belly. I have seen bonmei on many cooking shows and wanted to try one. Love love love! Fluffy bun, with a flavorful slice of pork, and crunchy slaw. I also had a side of pickled radish. Bring a group and dine in for the best experience. Daughter and I served almost family style with large basket fries, large bowI fried rice, etc. I am now a fan of Bonchon and we are going back so I can try other menu items. We have been to Bonchon many times. This visit is similar to our previous visits. Bonchon is a Korean/Asian fusion restaurant that specializes in Signature Korean Fried Chicken, Traditional Korean Dishes, Buns Wraps, Tacos and other Asian Fusion Dishes. This visit we arrived at around 7:00pm on Sunday and were immediately seated. The restaurant was a little loud with music from the bar playing. It almost seemed the people inside were all trying to talk louder to compete with the music and be audible. We ordered a mix of Spicy and Soy Garlic Chicken Wings. The wings were crisp and tasty. Spicy wings had a kick. We also ordered a Spicy Chicken Bibimbap which also had a good amount of heat to the different blend of flavors. The food at Bonchon is good and I want to give Bonchon four stars; however the price and the majority of us leaving hungry prevents that! Tip: Bonchon has a frequent visitor card. As other reviews have mentioned, and in my opinion, the manager, Lily, is not suited to be a manager at all. She's rude, dismissive and does not know how to treat a customer. I was also frauded from their online lunch special only to find out my order was cancelled upon arrival, except I was still charged for it. Confirmations and everything. What a waste of time and money. I was especially surprised with the way Lily treated us, like we were in the wrong. Will not support an establishment with management like this. read more

Have come here over 6 times and have ordered from postmates on several occasions and each time I'm not disappointed. The service and the food is always top notch I've tried to sample a little bit of everything from the menu and it's so hard to say what my favorite is I guess it just depends what your in the mood for. The soup, tacos, crab meat avocado ball, popcorn shrimp and fries are exceptional. Will continue to come here even on a Sunday afternoon when it's a little busy. The staff is always quick to bring the orders out, and always remember us when we come in which says a lot about how the management operates. Fantastic Job bonchon team, our waiter Phillip was wonderful today very attentive and helped with choosing something new from the menu. I would definitely recommend trying something new each time you truly won't be disappointed but one thing they are know for is the chicken drumsticks or wings they are epic and so good! This was my second trip to Bonchon, so I allowed myself to get something other than the fried chicken (how could I NOT order that on my inaugural visit to a Korean Fried Chicken joint??). So since I have a deep seeded love for Bulgogi, I gladly put in an order of their fried rice (+$2 extra for the Bulgogi added to their lunch portion). One thing I also recalled from my first trip, was how deliciously crispy their french fries were; and they did not disappoint this time either. They come with ketchup, but do yourself a favor and order a side of literally any other sauce to dip them it - it makes them so much better. Back to the Bulgogi fried rice. It was a huge portion for a lunch menu. So much that I got a to-go container. The Bulgogi was good, but it was a little too finely chopped to really appreciate. I could barely pick it out above the fried rice because the pieces were so small. I would've loved to be able to have some larger chunks to be able to enjoy by themselves. I probably should have gone with the Bulgogi Sliders; but live and learn. My friend got the dumplings, and he threw a few my way. They were tasty and super crispy. Definitely more fried than I'm used to getting them. But they came coated in a spicy glaze that I really enjoyed. Overall it was a good experience. It can be a bit pricy for a lunch (my total was $17, including tip, for fried rice and a side of fries). But I will note that the service was incredibly friendly. This was a venture out of my comfort zone, boy because it was Korean but because the reviews were not that strong. Sometimes reviews can be wrong, unfortunately in this case they were not far off. First off, it is a little hard to find because it is st the end of a strip center and around the corner. Parking is plentiful, so that was a positive. The buildout is gorgeous, set up almost like a neighborhood pub with two large TVs over the bar dedicated to sports. Service was mediocre at best, it wasn't very crowded so I assumed service would be a little more spot on. Also, sometimes when you are out of your comfort zone you need some guidance going through the menu. That did not happen here and twice my daughter had to get up to ask for something she needed for her meal. When asking about a particular sauce our server only said "it has a lot of sugar, lots and lots of sugar". Food was okay, we tried a few dishes and passed them around. The chicken was very good, with the Korean glaze you would expect. The consensus was that the soy garlic was amazing. The Bibimbap is one of my favorites, but this version did not do it justice. One of the sauces was so salty it was overpowering and overall it was just uninspiring. HOWEVER THEY HAVE MOCHI. My daughter is a huge fan of Mochi and their versions were excellent. We tried several different types but it was my feeling that the strawberry was the hands down winner of the taste competition. I really enjoy their chicken. I haven't found a good korean spot since I moved from New York and Bon chon isn't new for me. To know that even moving down to the south, and they didn't mess up the fried chicken. I also enjoyed their appetizers that aren't familiar to me like the spicy chicken tacos, boy were they spicy & I love spicy food. I ALWAYS get bibimbap with hot stone. It's $1 but it really makes a different compared to eating it on a bowl. Definitely something to recommend. The korean wine is limited but the black raspberry wine is definitely my go-to. Hands down the best chicken wings I've ever had. I love Korean food and came for lunch with my parents. The interior is aesthetic and classy and the service was spot on. We got the garlic soy chicken wings, bibimbap, and bul dak. Some background on the latter two dishes: bibimbap is a mixture of vegetables with your choice of protein on top of rice with a spicy sauce on the side. Bul dak is spicy chicken and rice cakes topped with cheese, onions, and scallions. Fair warning: the bul dak is the spiciest menu item. I'm not talking American spicy, I'm talking KOREAN spicy. You have been warned! Great food, interior, and service. They also recently released a stamp card so for every time you come and spend more than $20, you get a stamp. At 5 stamps you get a free starter, and at 10 you get a free meal. If you plan on becoming a regular, definitely hop on that! I'm coming back for that fried chicken. Some of the best wings I've ever had. Not a huge variety of flavors, but what they have tastes great. You don't have to speak Korean, just come for some crunchy wing that are not greasy. You can tell they cooked them right before serving. Not like most wing places that nuke them and toss sauce on them, yeah I'm talking to you Houligans. I had takoyaki also, which were pretty good. The hot version is warm, but anyone should be fine, its not going to hurt. Service was fast and polite. The place was clean. The only downside is the TVs. Korean Fried Chicken!! That's what brought us in, I had never tried Bonchon before or specifically Korean Fried Chicken so I was excited to try it out. It's small and kinda hard to find, it's right around the corner from Hobby Lobby, at the end of a strip mall. We were sat right away and saw the menu said the chicken needed around 30 min to cook per order ( just a FYI) We tried: - Takoyaki- octopus fritters, these tasted kinda like savory doughnuts balls with a small chewy piece of octopus inside..they were ok, I would have preferred less breading and more octopus -Fried chicken- you can choose what you want ( wings, drums, combo, boneless) we went with a small ( you choose sm, md, lg defending on how many pieces of chicken you want) drums 1/2 and 1/2 ( half soy garlic, half spicy) I loved the soy garlic! It was a sweet sauce and it tasted great coated with the perfectly crispy chicken! The spicy was good too, not too hot, but nice heat! -Bull Dak- wow oh wow SPICY!! Our server even told us "it's like spicy, spicy!" We still went full steam ahead asking for it to be as lightly spicy as they could and it still knocked our socks off! Lol we all ate a few bites and tried to calm the fire in our mouths with the white rice but we all taped out with in a few minutes! For 3 of us we split everything and were satisfied. First... I'm a big Korean fried chicken fan. As a former New Yorker, I loved going to K-town and feasting regularly. Bonchon stands on it's own two feet when it comes to fried chicken. The soy garlic is our favorite, but the spicy option is good too, but it IS spicy! Now... despite the fact that we go to Bonchon for the chicken, there is a real treat on the menu. Something I recommend everyone try... The "Salmon Avocado Ball". Oh my... this is like the best of sushi, but with it's own twist wrapped up into a nice ball. It's got crunchy, saucy, savory, sweet, creamy, all wrapped up into one delicious ball. It's seriously amazing. Bonchon will be a regular destination for us. read more

This place is nice and quaint. We had B a couple of appetizers for a light dinner. We got the octopus cakes, the shrimp cakes, the pork belly pockets, and the 10 piece mixed flavor wings. For two people it B was a good filling dinner. One thing that we found a bit annoying was that some of the appetizers come in 3's which makes it awkward for a couple to dine. They have a large selection of beers and beverages. From the other people in the restaurant I saw the tacos that looked delicious and a spicy chicken dish that was sizzling and plentiful at a table next to us. I loved coming to Bonchon when it first opened, however the more I go the less impressed I am every time. In my opinion the Korean fried wings are the selling point for Bonchon. The wings are a decent size and always come out hott and crispy, but sometimes they are lacking in flavor. This inconsistency is what swayed me to a 3 star over a 4. I have also tried their Bull dak, which I was a huge fan of. It has a great flavor and is pretty spicy but there was only five rice cakes in the plate I received. I'm hopeful this has just been bad luck on my part and in the future it'll be better! read more

How lucky are we to have this neat little place in our midst?! As I've matured (a nice way to say...I'm getting old!) I've become much more exploratory and adventurous with my cuisine preferences. We had a large to-go order for a co-workers birthday a week or so ago now and my mouth is STILL watering thinking of their spicy chicken Korean tacos... Let me tell you - the little flame by each menu item signifies that it's spicy. THIS IS NOT A GAME - THEY ARE NOT PLAYING WITH THE SPICE. Consider the little flame a warning if you're not a 100% lover of your mouth being on fire!!!! I, personally, am one of those who crave the occasional tingly lip spicy feeling so I went for it. No regrets! Friends ordered the pot stickers, wings, beef tacos...etc. and it all looked PHENOMENAL! The prices were also extremely fair for the portions. We ordered right at 11:00am as the location opened, and were out the door with our complete, CORRECT, order at 11:15am. So if this is any indication of Bonchon "goodness," I've gone to Bonchon and eaten their delish fried chicken wings two days in a row (yesterday and today)! The wings are very tasty and complimented with that soy garlic glaze, I am inclined to think that the "secret" to their crispness is that they are nicely battered then fried twice! Also enjoyed the soy garlic potstickers which are supremely tasty especially with a side of steamed rice. Service from Ricky was outstanding - dude was very attentive and runs a great bar! The restaurant itself has very Clean and hipster lines - cool vibe here especially that long bar! This place is conveniently located next to my parents' house and every time I'm craving quick and tasty Korean food during my visit, I HAVE to order from here. Service is always on point and everyone is really nice. I usually opt for the beef bulgogi or the Soy garlic wings, however, I wanted to try something new with my sister and we decided to order the wings, beef bulgogi tacos, and Bull Dak to share. The wings were phenomenal as always (10/10), the beef bulgogi tacos were pretty good (8/10), but the Bull Dak wasn't really our cup of tea (5.5/10). We found the spicy kimchi sauce used throughout this dish was very overwhelming and just overly salty (also the little gooey rice cakes inside were interesting to say the least). Call me basic but the Korean fried chicken wings and the beef bulgogi will always be my go-to here!! read more

But here's my two bits... Their Signature Fried Chicken is the reason I come here. They are for sure "the bomb.com" as I've seen mentioned on a few reviews :) Perfectly fried wings/drumsticks that is crispy on the outside and juicy, tender inside. The glaze is sweet & savory with good amount of heat (I always get the Spicy). TTEOKBOKKI- I had this on my first visit and it'll wake you up. We've been waiting to try this place. We heard some good things about it. First impression is that it is in a bad location at Town Center. You can see it from Gate Parkway but the issue is that parking is pretty limited unless you want to walk. That's fine on a nice day, but not in the rain. On this night, we got a table right away. Others that came after us had a bit of a wait but not too long. We ordered a couple of appetizers. One came out in a short period of time. The other came out with our meals. First, the wings were awesome. Fried nice and crisp but not overcooked. The spicy wings had a little spice. All very tasty. The rest of the dishes we tried were good, but nothing too spectacular. Service was okay. A little slow at times. But no real complaints. We will be back for more wings and try some other dishes. read more

DESCRIBE IT FOR US MARKOS- Well , picture a chicken wing if you will- but instead of the standard flour based crunchy exterior there is almost a caramelized crunchy glaze to the wing. This unique platform allows the sauces to really shine and improves the crunch of the wing without being "heavy".. There are only 2 flavors garlic and spicy.. word of caution, the spicy definitely HS some heat to it but is palatable if you aren't a sissy. Still though, that being said, it's garlic for me from now on. I will say this - THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS IN JVILLE. I'm so happy that we finally have a Bonchon in Jax! I've previously had it in Annandale, VA and was introduced to it through my cousin on a visit. Back then, I was pretty new to Korean-style cuisine and was really impressed so I happily went with a friend to check it out. We arrived on on an early Saturday afternoon expecting it to be super busy, which it kinda was. Thank goodness we came when we did because the place was almost packed and the only table available was a 2-seater that was just cleaned off. The host sat us after straightening up the table settings and dropping off the menus. My friend commented on how small the space was and maybe that's the current trend nowadays. We had a hard time deciding what we wanted to eat as there were so many good options. I remembered having the Fried Chicken, both Soy Garlic and Spicy before and the Seafood Bibimbap (old favorite) and both were really good so I wanted to try something else I've never had. Sticking to my original plan of ordering only one appetizer, I ordered the Salmon Avocado Ball: a ball of avocado, krab (with a k) meat, cucumber, a little bit of tobiko, with a layer of salmon on top, tempura bits, scallions spicy mayo and unagi sauce. This would come in handy later. My friend had an extra hard time deciding. She finally went with the spicy chicken tacos but when they came out and she bit into one of them, it lit her up. They were too spicy for her. The manager came over to talk about it and offered to take it away and replaced with another dish, to which she chose the Salmon Avocado Ball after tasting mine and liking it a lot. I ordered the Bull Dak: spicy, stir-fried chicken with rice cakes, scallions, onions, mozzarella cheese swimming in what I like to think is hellfire sauce. I asked our server to take the spiciness down a level but even then it was kickin', but I liked it. The coolness from the avocado and cukes of the Salmon Ball in between the bites of Bull Dak helped a lot. Once the top layer of hellfire sauce was eaten the meal became much less of a battle hahaha. Gave this place a try last night and all I have to say is "not bad". We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. My sister and I together ordered the chicken fried rice and spicy chicken tacos with a side of kimchi slaw. Everything was great. The spicy chicken tacos are extremely spicy yet very tasty. Fried rice had a good consistency of mixed veggies and the seasoning was on point. The kimchi slaw was also pretty good. I'm giving it 4 stars because we did enjoy our food and our server was attentive. The "booth" up front by the door has very little space. We were told to pick either table. And I'm going to be real, I'm not the tiniest of people. You have to be a toddler to get through that tight space without having to "butt" the other tables around you. I looked at the server that suggested us to sit there and said to him "there's no way we could just get through this tight space" and he said "well, it's the same throughout the restaurant". That was extremely rude. He should have figured something else out. My sister is ended up looking around finding a table in the corner of the restaurant. I'm glad we ended up with a different server for the evening. Other than that, we had a great time. I think the food was rather affordable.
