So we got the chicken tacos, fried rice and the beef bulgogi. Tacos hit the table and dang! they were huge. We literally could've been perfectly okay with just that. But the fried rice was good as well and had good flavor. The beef bulgogi was okay but I liked the taco a lot more. We had plenty of food to take home and eat for later. LOL, anyhow, Now that this location is open after many has asked when it's gonna open, well it's open and open for the long run. First let me say that they dining and bar area is well laid out and lots of space. It's inviting and not too dark. In fact it has nice natural lighting from the windows even when the interior lights are on. The food...well from the Bay to Sac, the food is consistent. I was traveling to Elk Grove to get my Bonchon fix so when this location opened and I ordered my Mix Bonchon Chicken Garlic, Spicy, Sweet and that first crunch bite, the flavor is consistent like from the Bay. If you haven't had BonChon Chicken drop on in and get the lunch special or the dinner. Just the chicken and rice. Once you have tried you will again very soon. Tried this location for my first Bonchon experience. I didn't even realize it was a table service restaurant until we got there. I was expecting a fast-food counter joint. We got seated as soon as we checked in at the hostess table on a busy Friday night. The place was packed and it seemed like they had a lot of takeout business also. Staff was really friendly and pleasant but service was a little hit-or-miss. I saw a number of staff hustling taking orders and serving food, and different staff stopped by our table to check on us, but then at times when we really did need an item, a refill, or wanting to check on our order, there was no one on the floor! It was weird. I'm pretty sure they forgot to put in my boyfriend's bulgogi order, or that the kitchen missed it. We had to ask for it twice. It basically came out 20 minutes AFTER I had gotten my food (and I ordered a few things). So that was inconvenient, but we didn't complain, since my bf was being a good sport. I'm pretty sure I would've had to speak to the manager if we were waiting that long for MY food! Staff did apologize for the wait, but maybe a small discount would have been a nice gesture on their part. Aside from that, the food was great! I ordered the half chicken combo (3 wings/3 drumsticks), both spicy and soy garlic flavor. Spicy wasn't that spicy but just more flavorful than the soy garlic. Nice and crunchy and a good portion for the price. I got the pickled radish and a side of kimchi. Both sides complimented the fried chicken well. I had to try the salmon avocado ball too. It was a massive ball of avocado and cucumber with a grilled (maybe torched?) outer layer of salmon, topped with unagi and spicy mayo sauces. So ono! Not what I was expecting for a "Korean" restaurant. Our whole meal was deep fried one way or another. Known for their fried chicken, a crisp moist, heavily coated, wing or drumstick dipped in a soy/garlic based sauce or a spicy chili garlic type sauce. Our pot stickers were deep fried and hard and not very tasty, The three pork buns were a big disappointment, the bun was dry, the mini sandwich was overpowered by the coleslaw, the side pork was too small and not enough for the dish. Our combo chicken plate was expensive ($22.95) but the chicken was good, not enough for the price. Onion rings were good. HIte beer was very good. All this for 70 bucks was not a bargain. I love me some bonchon. 2 for $20 deal: 10 wings and your choice of either bibimbap, fried rice, or a salad (of the 3 options, you can choose what kind, like seafood or bulgogi, etc.). It's an okay deal. Mine came with 10 wings and drumsticks, but both the wings and drumsticks were SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than what you would expect from regular orders. Like usually the drumsticks are the size of my fist, but these were the size of my thumb. It was still pretty good and I definitely ate all of them, so I can't complain too much... not a fan of the bulgogi fried rice. The fried rice is just okay. I will try their bibimbap next time. My friends ordered the regular wing/drumstick combo and those were huge and excellent, as expected. We also had a salmon avocado roll, which is delicious and fast food quality, as you should expect. First time coming to this location and it wasn't as busy as the Elk Grove location. We came around a weird time so that could be why also. We got seated right away. They have a deal for $20 for a small order of wings and either bibimbap or fried rice. We decided to get the seafood fried rice (+$2 extra charge since we got seafood). We also ordered the shrimp shumai. When our food came, we noticed that the wings didn't come with any radishes. It usually comes with a small side of it and when I asked our waitress about it she said it doesn't come it. I thought it was weird but we decided to order one anyways ($1.75 and it was a big amount). Definitely order the radish for the wings as it pairs really well together especially with the spicy one! If you can't really handle spice, I would opt on that flavor. Everything was good and it was my first time trying the shumai from there and it was actually pretty good. My chicken was so good and so fresh!! This was my 1st time, and I did not expect the crunch and parade of flavor that exploded in my mouth!! I ordered the mixed chicken combo with half garlic honey and the other half Korean BBQ. It was definitely worth the price and satisfyingly filling. We stopped in for a quick lunch last week, as I was excited to have a Bonchon in Natamos! We were seated promptly and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered the combo drumstick and wing plate, with 1/2 and 1/2 ( spicy & soy garlic) and also the pork belly buns. The chicken can take awhile but it was worth the wait, it was pretty dang tasty! The spicy was good, but a little too much back heat for me, so I preferred the soy garlic chicken. I was impressed with the overall crispness of the chicken and lots of good flavor. I did find it to be a bit salty though, more so after we at and was thirsting for water to clean my palate. The pork belly buns were tasty, nothing impressive but still yummy. Overall, this is a quick service chain restaurant but I could definitely eat a whole plate of their wings again! read more

We went to Bonchon on a Sunday evening at 8 PM on a holiday weekend and the restaurant was packed. However, considering the crowd, our food arrived fairly quickly. One entree was delayed and our waitress continually checked with us and the kitchen on the late arriving entree. However, since we were still snacking on the appetizers (chicken strips and pork buns), we weren't missing the one entree too much before it arrived at our table. We may have been lucky (based on reading previous reviews) but our waitress was great (our bill said our server was Angie). She frequently checked on us, followed up with the kitchen on the one late arriving entree, memorized our order to know what was missing, and provided friendly and knowledgeable service. Now come to my disappointment... the entire order supposedly comes with two ranches total all of a sudden. I asked for more ranch and they made a huge ordeal and tried charging me. I proved my case of how can you give 1 ranch for a small order and only 1 ranch for a large order? So they just charged me for a few extra ranches but gave me a couple for free. Instead of just dropping it there though, a man came up to me to show me the menu to "make me aware" that ranches were extra. However I showed him on his own menu it says that Asian mayo was 0.95 and ranch is not listed as an additional side and I have never had a problem at any bonchon before. Bonchon B U S T! Ugh. I'm obsessed with the EG location, so it was natural to assume this one would be just as great. Well, it kinda was AND kinda wasn't. I'm sure it's just the kinks needed to be worked out, but oh my word. Our specific server was not good at all. Maybe it was just a lack of training, but the language barrier didn't help either. She was trying, but not really. She was sweet when she took our order, but she NEVER checked on us nor did she bring any of our food. However, there were a plethora of employees who we could flag down for things we needed. Silverware. One dish we ordered. Drinks. The check. Boxes to go. The chicken was delicious and I'm so glad they didn't mess that up. However, the Japche was gross. It seemed old and lacked any flavor. I really like this dish at the other location, so I was really deflated when I got this dish. I even asked one server if they made this in small batches or in large quantities. He said something about the main chef not in that day or too busy, so it wasn't made by him. Anywho, we literally took three bites and didn't touch it after that. I would have hoped they were paying attention to that and removed it from our bill, but they didn't. Again, I hope it is just them adjusting to opening their new business. The chicken was good, but I have at least one other location...a second one coming (Arden), to pick over them if they can't figure it out. I now understand the low rating after their soft opening. Finally!!! After months of seeing an "Opening Soon" sign on the Bonchon Korean Chicken restaurant in North Natomas, they are open!!! I went in today for lunch. The interior has a modern, minimalist look to it. The colors are predominately black and gray. They have a very open dining area and a bar, where they offer a small but nice selection of beer and wine. No hard alcohol, but they do have a Korean cocktail that is spirited. Service was very good. We were greeted and seated quickly and our wait person was efficient and checked on us periodically without being intrusive. Me and my friend both went for their signature fried chicken. They offer it with a soy garlic sauce or spicy. We were told the spicy would clear our sinuses, but it wasn't as hot as we expected. The soy was nice and slightly sweet. The crust on the chicken wings and drums was fantastic! The meat was moist, but beyond the crust, the meat lacked salt and other seasoned flavor. We chose the coleslaw and seasoned fries as side dishes. They are priced ala carte. The slaw has a creamy dressing and was very tasty! The fries were great! Evenly coated with seasoning, fried crisp on the outside and tender soft inside. They are served with a ketchup type sauce that is really good!! It was my first time here in Natomas location and this review is strictly based on the food today. I ordered their Lunch House Chicken fried rice to go. It wasn't as good as when I had it from the Laguna location. Felt like it lacked a lot of flavor or whatever sauce they cook it in. I also ordered it to be spicy but this one wasn't at all. When it FINALLY got to me (driver initially went the wrong way which delayed my delivery, but that's another review for another app) I was starving. I've ordered through DoorDash many times. I get the half garlic soy and half spicy pork potstickers. They are so good. Been ordering them for years. This is the first time that I've received them with vegetables in it, like cabbage or something else that is crunchy and green. The menu did not specify if this was changing. But this is clearly not all pork, it barely has a few pieces of pork. Amazing!!! Having worked in food service, and been a server at a few soft openings, I can only say great things about this place. They're busy. Their staff is family oriented and the servers are giving it their best. The food is exceptional. Today, we walked into a PACKED restaurant, waited less than ten minutes to be seated, and had our order taken with the next ten minutes. Holly, our server apologized for any delays, preemptive of any unforeseen issues, and kindly took our order. Food arrived in various stages, which was wonderful, considering it didn't have to sit under heat lamps to dry out. I noticed these things, and a former server, and remembered that the first few months can be grueling, exhausting and frustrating. I had the bibimbop with the spicy chicken and ITS SPICY, the kind where it hits you after a few bites. Dished was served in a stone pot which kept the ingredients hot. Portion wise, not for sharing. The bibimbop was mediocre, definitely had better. The sauce that comes on the side was horrible, tasted like Tabasco and this dish usually comes with a sweet chili sauce. Bulgogi was slightly bland and came out on a sizzling platter. Food wise, the Fry chicken and their seasoned fries were my favorites dishes.
