Been meaning to review this. On their menu it says some magazine named their chicken the best fried chicken in the US... And it's true!!! I'm a HUGE fan of Nashville hot chicken, but their hot chicken absolutely blows it away. It's hard to describe it well, but here's my take on it: it's perfectly crispy/crunchy on the outside, literally just the right amount of crunch that's just so satisfying without being too bready so that it's just pure crunch. The meat is so tender and juicy, jam-packed with flavor and again, just so satisfying! It really is the best, no better way to say it. Pro tip: get the family meal. It's the best value on the menu and gives you a great sample of all the best things on the menu. read more

The best Korean fried chicken in the area! We got the family meal with half soy garlic flavor, half Korean bbq flavor. We also got a bimbimbap, which lacked flavor at first until we asked for a second sauce for it. The waiters were super attentive and friendly. Our waters were constantly topped up. French fries were fresh and tasty ( but what fries aren't really?) Everything here is AMAZING!! Kimchi bacon rice, crispy fries, the WINGS! Absolutely delicious! We had the wings double glazed and couldn't get enough. I have been driving all the way to convoy Street to enjoy Bonchon, so I am so pleased that we now have one that is close to my house. And since I've been before, I decided to try all items that I've never had before. I absolutely enjoyed the Korean tacos - we got the spicy chicken inside it, and although I wasn't expecting the tacos to be good, it was the favorite item I enjoyed this time. I was also encourage to try the house fried rice, and it was really delicious. It has the smoky flavor because it is wok fried. You can add chicken or Bulgogi to it. Of course the signature dishes are there fried chicken, which you can get in strips or wings or drums. Even the spiciest level, is absolutely delicious. Unlike some of these fried chicken places that make it so ridiculously spicy it's impossible to enjoy. Although the coleslaw is a side dish, as is the pickled radishes, I thought they were both fantastic. My family's first time eating at this location. I'd been having a craving for soy garlic wings, but my husband insisted that they taste best when they are fresh from the kitchen, not delivered. We've been avoiding the Convoy location because parking can be a nightmare. parking at this location is scarce because it is located in a shopping mall that is designed to look like a bunch of mini streets and blocks. It's like street parking, but no parallel parking. We used my handicap parking placard and found a close space. The restaurant is small. I think most of the patrons order delivery or pick-up. I think I counted about 9-10 tables with 4 chairs each. There is a bar, but the stools were pulled aside and had tables lined in front of it. Watch out if you are near the column. You can scrape yourself against the trim. The chicken was delicious as usual. We ordered both kinds of fries, plain for our picky kid and seasoned for the adults. Seasoned fries are the plain fried topped with garlic and cheese. I also ordered the pork buns. The spicy mayo and cole slaw covered up the flavor of the pork, and the pork could've been a bit softer. When I bit into it, I pretty much pulled the entire slice of meat out of the bun. The restaurant is clean, and the service was good. The staff was very attentive and was quick to keep our drinks filled and check on us as we ate. Finally, there are 2 single-stall restrooms, one for men and one for women. For some reason, the floor inside of the womens room was sticky, like I'm waking on sticky tape. I liked that there is a lot of room to maneuver wheelchair inside and perform a toilet transfer. Most of the handlebar was blocked by the toilet back. Also, the toilet paper dispenser was mounted too low and forward. It was placed beneath the handlebar, but to accommodate for someone's legs, it was mounted further forward. I am an ambulatory paraplegic and average height. I had to stand and lunge forward to try and finagle toilet paper out of the dispenser. Please consider relocating the dispenser above the bar and closer to the toilet user. read more

Yum! The fried chicken here is so crispy and crunchy. The spicy chicken is HOT so be careful! We also tried the bulgogi fries, which were very heavily sauced, but the fries were surprisingly nice a crispy, not soggy. Get some soju to go along with your meal also. read more

Who says no to Korean Chicken ;) When we saw the big grand opening sign in front we had to stop by. We had fried chicken and Soju. I recommend the wings versus the drumsticks as those were some huge drumstucks and it was easier to eat the wings lol. Chicken was crispy. When they say Spicy chicken, they mean spicy! so heads up to those who cannot handle really spicy food. The coleslaw was very good! It was a bit of wait for the food but was worth it. Nice to finally have a Bonchon in North County San Diego. Much nicer than the Convoy location. Trader Joe's and other nice restaurants are in the shopping center. But I'd rather have Bonchon's delicious KFC. Excellent food, super and fast service. The only thing that I didn't like is that this location doesn't sell gift cards. Decent, definitely given we're not in Convoy! I can't comment on the dining experience here since we ordered our food for delivery, but we were pretty satisfied with the wings themselves. We ordered the combo with 5 drumsticks and 10 wings. Half soy, and half spicy. Surprisingly, the spicy was no joke and *actually* packed heat. Flavor-wise they both tasted somewhat similar. We'd likely repeat this order if we got this to eat again, since the wings themselves need to be sauced in my opinion -- they're not the kind that would go well naked. The meat was juicy, not skimpy, and they were still crispy upon delivery! I also appreciated the larger side of radish that they provided. Next time we'll order a side of kimchi as well. My family orders take out from here all the time and I'm honestly surprised I haven't written a review yet. We love Bonchon! My brother and I initially started ordering Bonchon for lunch since they have pretty awesome lunch specials and since we'd occasionally have left overs, our parents would finish them when they got home from work. Even hours after the food was prepared, they still really enjoyed the chicken! We usually get soy garlic and a few spicy ones for my brother. I love how crispy the chicken is here and how light the batter is. Some other places have such a thick batter and oversauce their wings which I do not enjoy. The fries here are also good, however I noticed over the last few months they give a little less than before, inflation I guess... Overall, Bonchon is still a winner with my family and we'll definitely be back again! This is our go-to place for Korean fried chicken. We always get the family meal. The price and chicken is better than going to Cross Street IMO. The first visit (with the black and white square background paper) had a few small pieces. This time EVERY SINGLE "STRIP" was disgustingly small. Like false advertising small. Contemplating doing a chargeback on my credit card. This is embarrassing they are still allowed to do this to their customers. Avoid this place at all costs. My family and I went here today and we had a great experience! We tried the bulgogi sliders, medium boneless wing order (half bbq and half soy garlic), udon noodle soup and my MIL had the potstickers. We were taken care of two servers who were friendly, attentive, and helped us make selections since it was our first time there. Everything was delicious, fresh and as described. My toddler ate the bulgogi sliders and the udon noodles and my MIL ate all of her pot stickers (she usually won't eat that much but she said they were crunchy and delicious. There was no wait when we arrived and the food came out fairly quickly. The chicken was crispy/crunchy yet juicy and tender. Stopped in to try the KFC. Got pot stickers and wings. Both with two sauces, garlic soy and spicy. The pot stickers were a hit for us. We like 'em crispy as an appetizer and these were the bomb. The spicy sauce was too spicy for my wife so we split them down the middle based upon the sauce. We would definitely come back for these over and over. The chicken wings were also good. We will be back and try other options, but with pot stickers for sure. Today was a perfect day to come! I hadn't eaten anything and when I came by here I knew to stop by. When we came in we were greeted with such an amazing staff. The service was great and so was cleanliness of the restaurant! We ordered soy garlic and spicy strips and barbecue wings with fries onion rings and their SEASME GINGER SALAD! Tonight was my second time taking out chicken from this place. I remembered from the first time over a year ago that the food was tasty, but also remembered there was something I didn't like. It was late and convenient to stop there again, and when I looked at the menu I immediately remembered what I didn't like: the pricing is almost insulting. The "small" size order of wings is about $20 for 10 wings. Oh and for that price you get one side--a choice of steamed white rice, pickled radish or slaw, served in a minuscule plastic cup.
