Finally! The Bon Chon in Springfield area opened up.. Went here with my wife and kid to try this place out and was very pleased. I came here for the chicken which was good as per usual - crunchy and very flavorful. My wife ordered the chicken tacos which she enjoyed and we got takoyaki as an appetizer. Our server EJ was very kind and courteous and brought us everything we needed which really elevated our experience eating here. Definitely recommend this Bon Chon location and will be coming back often! read more

Ordered via GrubHub. The chicken katsu, mandu, and kimchi tasted exactly as I had in Korea. Kimchi wasn't to my liking (sweeter than spicy) but was no different than any restaurant in Seoul. For the potstickers I select the spicy sauce. Hard to see in the pictures, or in person, but they are fried with the spicy sauce. It was certainly spicier than I'd have liked. Had similar in Korea in a few restaurants and the spicy was there for flavor, these were nearing Buldak level of spicy. Good flavor but couldn't finish them. Katsu was as good as you can get, however it did not come with the slaw that was listed on the menu. The fries are where I had an issue. Granted they were delivered so texture aside, there was no flavor. For $9.14 it's a hard pass for any future orders. Fries, mandu, katsu, and kimchi came out to ~$50 via GrubHub. For the type of food very over priced but alright for once in a while and to split amongst 2 people maybe. read more

I've always loved Bon Chon for years. The chicken is solid here, but the service is hostile. There is a waitress who works here, I think she's Filipino, but she gave me an attitude for just existing as a customer. I came in the restaurant and she seemed annoyed that we wanted to eat there. I don't know who pissed her off or what happened before we came, but don't take it out on people who have done nothing to you. I understand there are difficult customers who may ruin your day, but if you can't control your temper, don't be a server. There are retail jobs where you can stock things in the back. You won't have to deal with any people. Just trying to help you find peace here! Anyways, I love Bon Chon, but I rather go to the Annandale location now. read more

I have to say, I've ordered food from this location before and it wasn't always the best. Last night, however, I placed an order through DoorDash close to closing time so my expectations weren't high as I was fully expecting to be served old, cold food. To my surprise, our food was so fresh and delicious. We got 8 piece strips combo, half spicy half soy garlic with pickled radish and japchae. The chicken was great but the Japchae was amazing! It's usually the other way around as they are mostly known for their fried chicken but I highly recommend trying their other entree's as well. We've also tried their fried rice in the past which is also super good. read more

Coming from Bonchons in California, the strips are way smaller than what I was used to, however still tasted good. I also think they lowered their portion sizes- I remember eating at Bonchon a few months ago and an order of small strips used to be 10, however now it's 8 for the same price. I've never heard of this spot before, and you typically will not find me in Springfield. However, a few of us made lunch plans this past Good Friday to take advantage of the $29.99 AYCE weekday lunch pricing. We got three rounds of beef brisket (chadol), one thin & thick pork belly (samgyupsal) each, and half an order of large intestine (daechang). The chadol was a little too fatty than I'd like, but it was high quality and comparable to non-AYCE options like Meokja Meokja. I didn't love the thin samgyupsal as much, but the thick version was so meaty and juicy. The intestines were a fatty treat, and I was good with just a couple bites. We had to ask for ssamjang and sesame oil for sauces, which they were generous with giving. Our server was pretty attentive, but we thought it was weird that he cooked the thin samgyupsal and the beef brisket at the same time. As for sides, we asked for lots of them (sadly our corn cheese never came). The fermented soybean stew was strong, but a bit too salty at the end. The egg bomb was fluffy and delicious. They also have ramen (aka shin ramen) which we enjoyed by adding several pieces of chadol and letting it soak in there to get that deep meaty flavor. I enjoyed the kimchi throughout the meal, which was the perfect "not quite fresh, but still crunchy" texture. Overall, we ate to our heart's content. I definitely would be back for more chadol, thick samgypsal, and a bit of daechang in the future. The $30 pricing is a steal for the amount of food we got, but I'd hesitate to pay for the $40 dinner price. I don't eat enough at AYCE spots to get my money's worth, so I would rather spend that $40 at a non-AYCE spot for higher quality cuts like galbi and rib tips.

The kimchi is trash and I can not say this enough AVOID IT (absolutely no flavor) and the sweet potato noodles were a bit goopy, but the carrots, spinach, cucumber and rice went hard. I think if I had gotten just the vegetable bowl I'd be a lot happier. I will say the size of the bowls are pretty good and I was definitely full afterwards but it wasn't a happy full it was a well that was edible food full. Maybe this was a bad day, but it seemed like all of the bowls from our orders were just disappointing. If I'm paying $14+ a bowl I really don't want disappointing. There is potential here but I think it'll be a while before I'm ready to give it another shot.

It looked nice, but the inside wasn't juicy or flavorful ,just very regular and lacked the richness we expected. Not only was the manager's behavior unprofessional and unacceptable, shouting at a server in front of customers, but it left a negative impression on what was supposed to be a dining experience. Bonchon in Springfield is a gem for anyone who loves really well-made Korean fried chicken. I went with a few friends and we were really impressed. We got the Seoul Sampler and the chicken was incredibly crispy, even with sauce, and both the soy garlic and spicy flavors were perfect--not overly sweet but a good balance. I haven't actually walked in here or even been close to the place to see it for myself yet, but I can tell you that my coworkers have brought me a chicken sandwich from this place twice as surprises and both times were some of the tastiest, most indulgent chicken sandwiches of my life.
