It takes a lot to invest the time to write a review. The food has to be really good or really bad. Unfortunately, Bonefish Grill gets an F- as in F minus. 1. Cesar salad used to be outstanding. Now, not so much. The Croutons are out of the grocery store aisle. They used to be home made. In fact, they should have used the stale bread they gave us. The dressing was excellent if you wanted tasteless mayonnaise. 2. The pork chop was like a limp piece of rubber. Not sure how they accomplished that, very cool science experiment. They were also successful in making it taste like a piece of chicken. 3. The ahi tuna was dry and tasteless. The wasabi had some bite, but oddly tasted like mashed potatoes. 4. The fried pot stickers were limp, the mix that came with it was, well I am not really sure. No sauce. 5. The fried kung pao brussel sprouts were soggy and they forgot the kung pao. My family went there for a special occasion on Saturday January 21. it was noon and there were only 2-3 other tables occupied. Still, the service was ridiculously slow! it took about 15 minutes for our server to come take our orders after we sat down and we continued to wait a very long time throughout the meal. the server was nice, she just took forever. the food was pretty good. This is a review for curbside carryout - I ordered food when I was about 20 minutes away around 7pm on a Saturday evening, and by the time I got there I had barely pulled into a pickup spot when they brought my meal right out to me. I ordered a salmon entree. Everything was warm and cooked well (the broccoli was a little mooshy, but it's not like anyone judges a restaurant on how well they steam broccoli, amirite?). Would be higher if it didn't smell like an open sewer. Have been there 3 times this month to use the bonus cards you get at Christmas. Ate at the bar the last two times because the waiter was so bad. Had a giftcard to use so came for dinner. Ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp, Risotto Del Mar, and Bananas Foster. The shrimp is always so good, but unfortunately, the risotto wasn't. The red onions were undercooked and were so sour! I love onions, but these weren't edible at all. We happened to be in Kentlands when we decided on happy hour. There were maybe a half dozen places offering it. At 445 Friday afternoon Bonefish was the most crowded, so we followed the herd. The area devoted to HH was large, and included comfortable booths. Five food items were offered, but the regular menu allowed you to order salads or vegetable sides inexpensively. We chose mussels, wagyu beef sliders, and crispy cod sliders. We washed them down with gin and tonics. The beef sliders had great flavor, helped by their signature sauce, and a nice potato bun. The cod portions were large, fresh tasting, with a light crunchy fried batter coating. They also benefitted from the same sauce and bun. My wife enjoyed her mussels ( I am allergic to them), but she pointed out that two of them hadn't opened. This has happened to her time and again. It is a pet peeve of mine. Is it too much to ask the kitchen to remove unopened bivalves? Minus one star for what was otherwise, a great start to the weekend. read more

Bonefish is the only restaurant from which I always get the same thing. My go-to entree of salmon, jasmine rice, and green beans is that good that I would eat it every single time. It sounds simple, but they make it incredible. They offer so many sauce variations that I can change things up sometimes and every single one is good. (I am partial to the mango salsa lately.) My go-to app of Bang Bang Shrimp is still the best thing on the menu in my opinion, and everyone I have gotten to join the Bonefish Bandwagon agrees with me. The great service and classy ambience only add to the amazing experience of dining here. Servers wear crisp white uniforms and are always friendly. I always leave happy. Portions are medium-sized. Not too big, not too small even if you get the 6oz salmon. Everything has always come out cooked and seasoned well. I highly recommend this place! read more

I stopped by here for happy hour. Bar was packed- was able to snag a booth at the bar. Happy hour is until 6:30pm daily. We ordered the bang bang shrimp (off happy hour) and the shrimp toast. Both were amazing. I wasn't expecting the shrimp toast to look like that but it was better than expected. The raspberry vodka drink was really good as well and not too sweet. Got together with friends at Bonefish Alexandria restaurant couple months ago & thanks to a great dining experience there, my family & I decided to treat our mom for her birthday here. We came on a Saturday night and although the service was a bit slow at times with a minor hiccup of mixing my entree with my dad's, our main server & her colleagues bringing food to our table were attentive and friendly throughout. More than anything, I love the value you get for the price you pay - not easy to find a good seafood restaurant in the dc metro area with both the freshness & quality that is found at Bonefish grill. Even their wine & cocktail prices are pretty attractive. 4.5 star overall rating. I strongly recommend this place to any seafood lovers, although the filet mignon was also off the hook! read more

I really like bonefish grill. And I find the wait staff very helpful and kind. However, when I was there this week I noticed many of the servers do not have proper masks and/or are not wearing their masks properly. For example, some staff wore scarves as masks and many masks were worn below the nose. I don't understand why management won't enforce proper use of face masks...the correct face mask to wear and how to wear them. These people are handling our food. Unfortunately, I won't be going back because of this. And when I'm asked what restaurants provide the safest environment I won't be able to recommend this particular Bone Fish Grill restaurant. read more

I've been to all the bloomin brand restaurants, but this was my first time at Bonefish. We were going out for a birthday dinner and had a fabulous time. Our server was very attentive, he came back many times to check up on us and even hooked up us with a complimentary desert. We ordered the bang bang shrimp, filet and stuffed lobster, the tilapia imperial and crab cake. Everything was pretty tasty, but next time I would say less salt on the sides. Terrible food. The crab cakes besides being so tiny are extremely spicy. The Remoulade sauce that came with it is so spicy it was inedible (and I like heat). The coleslaw has an Asian flare (Miso & sesame oil added to it)...just aweful & a strange combination with crab cakes. I was expecting more Maryland Style Cuisine. The garlic mashed potatoes had no taste of garlic in it and they also tasted like boxed potatoes. Nice atmosphere, but this alone doesn't get a restaurant high marks by itself. Bonefish Grill is just a step above Friday's. Blek. Also beware, they have a two-tier system for the same item. For example, if you order a salad with your entree, it's $4.50. If you order it by itself it's $8.50. We find this very strange. They do this with the soup as well, so if you want to get soup, an appetizer & salad, a la carte to make it a meal, you're going to be paying big prices. Went for dinner on a Tuesday night and they were surprisingly busy. We had a drink at the bar while waiting for a table and got seated pretty quickly. The kids menu had good options for little ones. Our entrées were delicious and a good portion. Service was friendly and for the most part, the prices were right. My only complaint was with the side of asparagus. I went here for the first time and got the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer. It comes out in a small bowl but it was definitely a generous portion. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good. Tastes like spicy mayo that you get on some sushi dishes. For my entree I got fish and chips. I was excited for this but when it came out I was highly disappointed. It was so under-seasoned and the tar tar sauce wasn't all that either to fix the issue. The fries were the star of this dish. Although the food wasn't that great, the service was excellent. Wow. There were so many things that went wrong that we actually had to write them all down. My sorority sister from FL was in town visiting for the weekend and she wanted to introduce me to Bonefish Grill. We didn't have time to make Brunch, so we decided on dinner and made reservations online. When we arrived, we got seated promptly, but the host never asked me if my toddler needed a booster seat or a high chair. I saw some by the restrooms, so I grabbed and secured a seat. After looking over the menu, we sat them on a pile on the side of the table (the universal signal for "We're ready to Order"). We looked around and stated that it was not even busy. Eight minutes had already passed, and in restaurant time, that feels like twenty. Not one server acknowledged us.We were ready to walk out (and we should have). Drinks: My toddler received a glass of warm/room temperature apple juice. We had to ask another server to switch out the glass for a kiddie cup. Waiting: Our bread took too long to come arrive. Also, when servers were walking by, they kept accidentally kicking the leg of my chair (no acknowledgement). I moved to another seat. The Check: When I asked him to split the check, he came back and told us that he split the appetizer as well (I did not eat the appetizer). Before picking up the check, he asked if I needed change (rude) and then said, "Oh. You're paying with a card". Food: The worst Rib-Eye I've ever had. It was over-cooked and difficult to chew. I left 3/4 of it, along with the fries. My sister's Fontina Pork was also half-finished. Due to this experience as a first-time guest of Bonefish Grill, I will not be visiting again. read more

Grilled Lobster + Steak Duet wood-grilled cold water lobster tail + a 6 oz sirloin 23.9 (upgrade to Filet Mignon - $5): This was the best lobster deal around right now. Bayou New Zealand Dory + Shrimp: blackened + sauteed in a classic spicy creole sauce served on garlic whipped potatoes - $18.9: I exchanged my potatoes with rice. The dory was really flavorful without a fishy smell or taste. The creole sauce was a little too salty for my taste. The free bread was hot like it just came out of the oven and delicious. The birthday boy got his choice of any of the desserts for free. They have a selection of cocktails for $5 every day that were delicious. When you order for curbside pickup they ask for you to describe your car so they can bring the food out. I did. We drove up and parked in one of the two parking spaces for curbside delivery and waited. The staff stared at the car repeatedly and never came out. We had to go in. Our order was just sitting there in a bag. When I asked why they didn't bring the order out, they said that they didn't have the description of the car. First, that's a lie. Second, even if it had been true or there had been some kind of miscommunication, they should have come out and asked us, since we were sitting in the car parked in one of the two pickup spots for 10-15 minutes. Really weak customer service. The food was just OK. The mahi mahi was way overcooked. The shrimp were tastier. The Asian sauce was way too sweet. Salad was just OK. Mashed potatoes pretty good. I have always been afraid of a place like this because the decor is always so fancy and I rarely go for fancy. I went here on a double date with my bestie. I was a little hesitant at first, but I thought to myself, "Self, this will be okay. You must try new things." Well, I am glad that I did! We went in and caught the happy hour deal. $5 cocktails, $2.50 for a glass of house wine and delicious appetizers. Everything you are going to eat is bound to be filled with flavor. The bread is delicious. I shared the ceviche' with my friend and it was bursting with flavor. The burgers were ordered by the boys and devoured, and the fish was superb. What has happened with hospitality and service? This is a restaurant that we have been going to for years and it's increasingly getting disappointing. The wait staff used to be sharp and personable. This evening we noticed that was not so. The waiter took our order and served three out of the four in our party. We waited for the fourth order that never came, and finally was told that he didn't think that the diner had placed an order. This was wrong on his part. The three of us proceeded to eat our dinner, expecting the fourth diner to receive his dinner shortly. After one hour of the waiter, ignoring our table, the diner asked to see the manager. The excuse was pathetic, stating that the restaurant had been slammed with Uber orders that needed to go out the door meanwhile it only takes a matter of five minutes to sauté scallops and shrimp, which is what the diner ordered and yet never received. The manager returned with a to go bag and said she was sorry, but the order was in the bag. We expected to eat at the table and not take the order home. The reason was evident once the diner opened up the 'to-go' dinner - it was pathetic to say the least! One shrimp didn't have any meat in it and there were only two scallops. Yes, the dinner was comped but that's not the point. Having dinner with your friends, while your friends are served and eating while you are being ignored and then given poor excuses is the point here. Also concealing a pathetic dinner in a to go bag was not nice. read more

I came here with my boyfriend for date night. It started off a little rocky as I know that we came a little late but it seemed like nobody wanted to see that's right away. But after we sat down the service was great and the food was amazing. I ended up ordering the salmon with a side of Brussel sprouts and I believe broccoli. I'm doing this review kind of late so I don't exactly remember what was on my plate but I do know that the salmon was delicious! The last time I came here before date night, I came for happy hour just to try their Blueberry Lemon Martini which I saw plastered all over my Facebook page. I guess I should review that drink as well. If I could drink six of those and still drive home I would. It was phenomenal. Lately sea bass was bad and tonight sealed the deal to drop my 5 star review to 2. After all these years. Sigh. Wednesday is the famous ban bang shrimp night, so why is our server so mad that we are here for it? The HH special menus are gone, not his fault, I get it, but he is super irritated that we haven't ordered entrees, which we were on the fence about since we don't really need a huge meal and they've been inconsistent at best lately. Eye roll and huffy sigh later, we are trying to get out of here. There is no wifi (perpetually broken? In 2016?) "Endless Bubbles Brunch" is a good deal. You get a signature entree, plus all you can drink of three options: Peach Bellini, Mimosa and Blackberry Sangria. Of course, you can try all three drinks and switch it up any way you please. The Peach Bellini and the Sangria are particularly good - sweet and not too heavy. I had the Surf & Turf Benedict, which is basically Eggs Benedict with Steak & Lobster instead of the Canadian Bacon. It could have used a little more meat... but the combination with the eggs and hollandaise sauce was delicious. Bang-Bang Shrimp appetizer is also very good. Always a crowd favorite. read more

Now, I wanted to find a place where I can get fried calamari with twist.. and I couldn't think of anywhere else but Bonefish grill. - Singapore calamari: Calamari was perfectly fried. very lightly battered and crispy outside and calamari was juicy and very well-seasoned. It went very well with spicy sweet sauce. - Coconut crusted shrimp: I really liked it but if this can be a bit too sweet as appetizer, so if you are not looking for sweet appetizer, go for bang-bang shrimp. - Fish and chips: Again.. best fried fish I've had in DC area. Fish was very fresh and the fried batter (coating) was crispy and flavorful. French fries were comparable to hand-cut ones at gourmet burger places. - Potato au gratin: I don't think many people get this as a side, since the server had to find out if I could get it as a side. It was very good though. - Complimentary bread: Freshly baked bread.. So good. I could eat more than one loaf all by myself. Overall, the food was amazing. Very reasonably priced for high-quality and flavorful food. Great service as well. We've given Bonefish Grill several opportunities to impress us. I am totally in love with the beef dumplings and bread/oil dip. However that's as far as it goes for me. Service can be sketchy. Wait times can be significant. Twice I have been overlooked by immature, flustered and arrogant hosts/ hostesses who seem to pick and choose who they are overly warm and nice to. Hmmmm. Twice they have forgotten the bread in my takeout order and acted like it was an issue to go and get it. One time during a takeout transaction, the hostess disappeared with my card for almost 10 minutes and couldn't explain why. The bang bang shrimp was good the first few times but somewhere along the way a sous chef began dousing them in too much of whatever that mayonnaise coating is, leaving it gooey and unappealing instead of crisp. Less is more should be their motto and prices are substantial for the small portions. read more
