We ordered 2 sandwiches: a veggie and a ham and cheese. It took 45 min. Quite a few people ordered at the counter after us and they got their sandwiches before us. Everyone in line was pretty fed up. The veggie had avocado, carrots, lettuce, and tomato and plain mayo. No cheese. No pickles. No mustard. No cucumber. No flavor. The wait was insane for a blah sandwich. The ham and cheese sandwich was fine but it wasn't worth the 45 min wait. I've always loved Boney's Bayside Market but this experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

GET THE SANDWICHES HERE IF ITS THE LAST THING YOU DO! So delicious and fresh made. So much flavor and all on fresh focaccia bread. Pricing is so fair, around $10 for a massive sandwich. I always get the Baja turkey and add mustard. If they have the elote corn dip in the refrigerator section I highly recommend purchasing but beware it is spicy. Love the store but have one issue. Deli slicing machine needs to be replaces. . Does not slice but instead shreds your meat into crumbles. I have asked for sándwich slices or thicker slices and told that is all can do. Won't be buying deli meats there anymore. read more

I am so bummed I have to leave this review. I have been doing my grocery shopping at Boney's since the early 2000s. I loved this store and that it was owned by a family who cared about the community. Unfortunately things have gone downhill. The customer service from the cashiers is some of the worst I have experienced: from the young, dark haired, female manager with the heavy eye makeup that was running the register to the other cashiers, I can honestly say that I won't be back. Boney's Bayside Market is self-proclaimed "Coronado's Own Natural & Specialty Foods Store" is true and a gem. As a Coronado visitor, it is great to get a handmade/fresh sandwich and have a nice selection of upscale side dishes. Often as we wait for our sandwiches to be made, we'll shop for breakfast items to have during our visit. (Eating at Island restaurants are expensive and hard to stay with a healthy diet.) For dinner we had two sandwiches: a turkey sandwich and a turkey Panini. Both came with ample amounts of freshly sliced turkey that was moist and flavorful. The sandwich we had our choice of several breads and spreads. The greens were quite fresh. The Panini included an ample amount of rich sundried tomatoes. You can have a choice of spreads, as well. They are open 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. If you are on the north side of the island, this can be a good alternative to restaurant dining. Love this Coronado gem. Fresh produce, decent fish at the deli. Organic choices left and right. Very good wine selection. But wait...there's still more! They have the best sandwich deli on the island. Order anything and your will be a regular for life. Pre made selections of salads, pastas and sandwiches are there for the groan and go. Parking lot is small and busy due to the superb selections and fresh items. This is the place to go and put together a full picnic lunch before you head out for the day. Lived in Coronado for awhile growing up & I always looked forward to getting to go to this market. Now 10 years later, I'm still excited. I always come here before hitting the bay for the day & get a sandwich made. I love all the options for pre made food too. They have this spinach chicken pasta (cold) and it's amazing. I get it every time I go! Along with these pickles in a bag lol. It's one of those markets I go to & end up getting way more than I should. Just because everything looks so good. I love this cute local market. It located at a very nice spot, a couple blocks to the ferry landing pier. It's convenient for people to grab and go. The market is not big, but it has all people need, with good and various products. There're a lot of local things that you can find at this place, such as the local wines, beers and pastries. I am so looking forward to trying the Coronado local wines which has a lovely Coronado Island map on the label. I heard their deli food is great too, I'll grab a sandwich next time I go there. By the way, I really love their paper bag's illustration graphic. To be honestly, my husband thought it was my drawing at the beginning since my art style is so similar to that. If you want a sandwich, expect to wait about 20 minutes. But everyone in our group loved the sandwiches they got and our kids got theirs for $2.50! I got the Pastrami Reuben grilled panini sandwich and it was perfect. One thing I like is a perfectly Proportioned sandwich. You know those delis that you go to where they put in so much pastrami (or meat of your choosing) that it's about 90% meat and then 5% top slice and 5% bottom slice of bread and you really just get the meat in each bite? the kind where they say "would you like some bread to go with your pound of meat?" I'm not as big a fan of that as I am of a sandwich done right--you know the meat/bread/cheese/condiment ratio has to be just right to taste everything in each bite? Well these guys and gals got it right. I'd be happy to return for another lunch next time I'm in Coronado. Came here to grab lunch for a little picnic with friends after paddle boarding. Very reminiscent of Sprouts/Whole Foods. They have a large selection of alcoholic drinks, kombucha, a deli, etc. They have a small parking lot right outside but I believe it was a 2 hr limit. Signs posted everywhere you'd be towed or fined if you're there longer, so beware! They have a pretty good selection of deli sandwiches and subs at really good prices! I shared the meatball sub with my daughter and we both liked it. Good flavor and very tasty, the bread was nice and soft. We also grabbed some cut up berries and pineapple, and the caprese salad. Daughter also got the banana blues smoothie which she loved. I should have grabbed one for myself because it was yummy! The wait for the sub, smoothie and caprese salad took a little while, but not bad of a wait. They were pretty busy but got my order up and ready in just a few minutes. Service was good. Staff was friendly and efficient. Checking out was quick as the line moved fast. I was surprised to see that a lot of their prices were lower than their competitors. Place is clean and covid prepped. There was about 10 employees and it took 30 minutes for my order. There was one other customer in the market waiting but 30 minutes for 1 sandwich is not reasonable. These folks are the best. If they were located in my area of LA--they would also be the best, but you would never be able to get in the store. They have a deli that will make you a custom sandwich with Boars Head meats. Produce area, salads, prepared ready to go foods. Beats constantly dining out--just put your healthy meal together here. Another review of the poor performance at the deli. Went to Boney's to get two sandwiches before a small concert at the Coronado Landing. There were three people in line to order at 1pm on Saturday. After placing our order we browsed the store bought a few other items for 15 mins. No sandwiches ready yet. After another 15 mins asked again and still not ready, and were told only three more orders in front of us. After another 30 mins we finally received our order. It would have been nice to know this extremely long hour long wait for a sandwich when we placed our order....duhhh!! When we finally sat down to eat our sandwiches there was no avocado that we paid extra for, really!! While waiting for our sandwiches I never seen a work crew work so slowly. Pitiful!! The sandwiches were pretty good and the staff was friendly. Management needs to do something about this situation or no one will have the time to get a sandwich here. read more

I'm so glad a co-worker at NASNI recommended I come out the back carrier gate and try Boney's. I visit NASNI from Virginia about 1-2x annually and normally they take me to the touristy area to lunch and dinner by the Hotel Del. This time I went to the opposite end of Orange Ave and had a delicious - and I do mean delicious - sandwich at Boney's Bayside Market. They have over a dozen smoothies and between 2-3 dozen sandwich options - mostly the same ones but you can get them on any kind of bread or as a wrap. My first day here - I went with the Coronado Club sandwich on whole wheat bread. The sandwich had turkey, jack cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and sun-dried tomato basil spread. It was AMAZING. Let me tell you - perfect portions of everything - fresh soft bread - and not huge chunks of anything that popped out of the back when I took my first bite (bc that's annoying). I love a good sandwich and buddy, this was one. The second day I stopped in more to get some snacks for the plane and a cookie or two (bc those are really good too just to the left of the sandwich/deli area are a bunch of fresh baked cookies and breads. Well in addition to my cookies and almond date snacks for the plane, I went with the Mango Madness smoothie at the suggestion of the gal behind the counter. It has mango, banana, strawberry and orange juice. A good refreshing smoothie and it held me over, with some of the date snacks, until dinner with a friend later that night. This market has a lot of healthy food items you probably can't get anywhere else on the island and the sandwiches and smoothies are very good. This small grocery store sits on the main avenue in Coronado. We stopped in for some coffee and water bottles. I went for my favorite, a cold crew. Of the several choices they had, I decided on the canned variety. I also picked up two 1.5L bottles of water. The store was clean and well stocked. The restrooms were presentable as well, and sit toward the back of the store. The staff was friendly, and the patrons were pleasant locals. If you're looking to save a buck or two, this might not be your stop. Prices are comparable to similar establishments on Coronado. But to me, it's priced according to its quality. read more

I live downtown and have been coming over the bridge to buy groceries for the last month or so. The staff is so friendly and helpful (shoutout our friends at the butcher counter). It's a small market but we always find just what we need. The prices aren't scary and the cheese and wine selection is awesome. This review is specific to the deli. It is our go-to sandwich spot on Coronado Island. Nowhere else even comes close. First of all, their sandwiches are DELICIOUS! Absolutely yummy every time. They are incredibly reasonably priced, especially by Coronado standards. Their side salads are great, too. My in laws were visiting San Diego a few years back and discovered this spot! They were heading to Coronado beach and searched for a sandwich spot and were lead here. We had lived here two years at that point and never heard of it! They have THE BEST wraps and sandwiches. Fresh leg made to order, lots of sprouts and other ingredients available. As good as they are, they're only topped by the assortment of side dishes for purchase. So many healthy, unique options. Lentils, lemon orzo, beans, currant couscous, etc etc. everything delicious and flavorful. This spot is a hidden gem. The store itself is more of a novelty store, not so much for your normal weekly grocery shopping, but has basically everything you'd need in a pinch. But I go often for the wraps and sides. Stopped by the deli last week to grab a meatball sub (which are usually fantastic) only to be given a meatball sandwich with no cheese on a hotdog bun. Menu specifies French rolls, have had this sandwhich on a French roll many times in the past.... Not sure what's going on here. I called the deli to tell them about the mishap only to be written off and be told "we don't have hot dog buns". So, I'm not sure what this was below (brioche hot dog bun maybe?) but it certainly wasn't a French roll, and was about half the size of what it usually comes on. I've reached out to their email twice about this and haven't heard a word. Not sure what's going on with this place but there's been a very noticeable nose dive in the quality of what they're doing and who works there. Such a shame! read more
