This review is specifically for the Deli inside of the market: Absolutely delicious sandwiches!!! I've tried their Island Baja, meatball, pastrami, and Coronado club, all multiple times and they were fantastic. The prices are unbeatable for the quantity and quality of your sandwich, usually around 7 dollars. This deli does have long wait times. Deal with it. Especially during meal hours, they get an absurd amount of orders in person and over the phone. If you don't like waiting or are impatient, call in early and place your order for pickup. read more

Boneys deli counter consistently has the worst service. I ordered a pound of sliced meat and had to wait 30 minutes while 7 people hung out behind the counter and there were few customers as it was Sunday morning. This isn't a one-off... next time I'll just go to Vons. read more

It's nice to have a market in this area that has all the odd things you want to eat, and can't really get at the other markets. I volunteer close by and like that eggs and such are just an easy stop away. The market has lots prepared food for those who are in need of a fast meal that is also made with healthy stuff. I noticed that the deli was full of interesting meats for those of you who eat that sort of thing. I like that this (I had a typo here before that was pretty hilarious) store is a mix between Whole Foods and Sprouts. Great place to shop for grocery needs or pick up a bite to eat. They have an assortment of ready-made sandwiches, salads, drinks, snacks, etc. Deli counter also available but beware, wait may exceed 20 mins or more. Need improving service line for the deli especially when busy. We waited for 30 mins for one freakin' sandwich. I would think management should hire more peeps to help at deli counter. They are pretty busy but their sandwiches are huge and tasty. Parking can be a challenge. Market it less than a block from the beach & walking distance from the Coronado ferry landing. read more

Boney's use to be all around town, but this location was re-established in 2004 by Deborah Boney to continue the family tradition of a down to earth community market with great products and service. I came in looking for a number of items including avocados, sweet potatoes, Yukon Gold potatoes, and some nutty trail mix. I was very pleased because not only did I find all of the above, but some Boulder bakes sweet potato fries as well on sale for $2.99. The avocados too were on sale for .57 a piece, the Yukon Gold potatoes as well for .77 lbs., and the sweet potatoes were at their regular price at $1.29 lbs, which was still competitive. They had a variety of trail mixes in small plastic containers. I found one that was all nuts, seeds, and raisins which was exactly what I was looking for. At $4.49 for a pound, the trail mix was quite reasonable and came in 16 oz container. The store was well kept and quite busy as it's a busy neighborhood market. The young lady at the register was friendly and a had a good sense of humor. I very happy to see that this family run market is doing well amongst a sea of giants. Don't get me wrong, the island Baja sandwich was delicious. But like all these other reviews, it was unbelievable how long it took to get a sandwich. It took us 58 minutes for 2 sandwiches to be made. And it seemed like the staff could care less how slow they were moving. They truly all looked miserable and maybe it was just an off day, but when you have 18 tickets in your window you think you'd try to work more efficiently to get orders going but no, not here. I'd never seen anyone work so slow in my life. I waited 45 min before finally asking how much longer and they were not happy with me. I'd spare yourself and go somewhere else. Boney's is like a miniature version of a Whole Foods store in Coronado. They got a little bit of everything, fresh produce, meats, herbal supplements and so on. It is a bit on the pricey side. I usually come here for lunch, they have incredible deli for such a small store. Lots of freshly made to order sandwiches, paninies and wraps as well as fresh smoothies. Boneys seems like it's run by a bunch of incompetents. Today I was told that my sandwich would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I later found myself waiting at the pickup table 40 minutes after that call. They knew I was waiting, they knew they were 15 minutes behind (I made sure to let them know), yet they continued to show no remorse for their customers!!! They work like they don't even have a manager. They clearly don't care about their service because several reviews described the exact same situation as me. Nice, small market in Coronado that carries healthy, local and sustainable products. We came here to pick up items along the way for our beach day and was mostly glad that Boney's Bayside Market had a lot of healthy alternatives here. In addition to being a normal grocer, there is a hot food area, with meals and snacks that are ready for take-out. They also have a lot of organic and high-quality items that you'd find at a Whole Foods. Prices weren't too expensive for what we were getting. I liked the range of items that they had for take-out, with hot food entrees to sliced fresh fruit or a mezze tray. We were also able to grab plastic cutlery and napkins here - despite not seeing if there was a space to dine-in. If I lived in the area - I'd be happy to have Boney's Bayside Market, as they offer a solid selection of healthy options. Reminds me of Trader Joe's with all the organic and raw foods available here. I love that they have a spice section, allowing you to scoop however much you want into little baggies. They also have a counter where they make subs and sell premade salads and whatnot, I've got to try their yummy looking sandwiches one of these days! There were signs saying they couldn't make the Island Baja with turkey and could use chicken. When I looked at the meat in the case there were other types of turkey so I asked for one of those. I was told they don't slice their meat for sandwiches. WHAAAAT??!!!! You're a deli for gosh sakes. I'm sure there is about a quarter of a pound of meat in a sandwich. Loved this little market for grab and go snacks while we were biking on Coronado Island. It was a fun stop...they make sandwiches here but most of their deli stuff looks like it is brought in and not made in house. Cute little market when you want to grab some snacks or drinks in a pinch. As one other yelper noted, I also saw plastic water bottles sitting in the sun outside their front entrance...a huge no no with me so I would skip the non refrigerated/non perishable bottled drinks. read more

The deli has quite literally the slowest service I've ever experienced. It's almost comical.

I've been shopping at this store for a long time but once I found out that when the water is delivered they just leave it outside in the hot sun to have the plastic Infuse into the water I'll never buy water from them again and check this picture outside, I walked up to the water and found out that it felt boiling hot so they had left it in the sun for a long time terrible decision for their customers... if you know anything about health or Healthy Living you don't want to drink water from a hot plastic bottle because the water becomes "toxic" ... shame on the management at Bayside Market for doing that to their products/to their customers. As far as everything else on the inside do like the store they don't have anybody that is knowledgeable in the vitamin department whatsoever, but I do like their selection of drinks fruit and vegetables and I do like their vitamin department although again they need to hire somebody with some knowledge like Nicole had, Nicole was the manager in that section for many years. read more

Coronado only has two Supermarkets, A Vons and Boney's Bayside Market. Of the two, Boney's is much better in terms of quality and presentation. I particularly like the Deli which has a good selection of sandwiches which are made fresh to order. Next time you're in Coronado to walk along the Ferry Landing pick up a sandwich and a drink at Boney's and walk to the waterfront a block away. You can sit and enjoy it sitting on a bench. Much better and cheaper than the eateries near the water. Parking is easy at Boney's right next to the store and service is friendly. As for the groceries they sell, it's high quality and you pay for that which is why I gave them four stars instead of five. read more

We came to this market before we saw a movie at the Village Theater. We wanted to quick bite and saw that there was a Vons in the area, but I wanted something more local and in the end, Boney's won! The wait time was a bit long (I think we waited almost 20 minutes for two sandwiches), but it was a Saturday and busy. Just seemed like they needed more help. I ended up getting the Roast Beef Blue (roast beef, horseradish, and blue cheese) sandwich off their menu. It was really good, but very rich. I should have known, but it wasn't the best choice on a hot day. My boyfriend got the Island Baja. That was my favorite of the two! His had turkey, pepper jack cheese, avocado, tomato, and chipotle mayo. The prices are not bad, each sandwich was $6.95 and they use Boar's Head so that's always a win in my book. All in all, a very good sandwich and we will be back. read more
