I tried this place for the first time at 11:20am on a recent Monday. I was hoping to beat the lunch rush, but after I ordered there was a decent number of people arriving, so plan accordingly. I ordered at the window of their physical location behind the hardware store. All employees were wearing masks and were helpful and friendly. Some customers were not wearing masks, but spaced themselves out appropriately around the window while waiting for their orders. My food took approximately 10 minutes to be made, which was appreciated. Taking the menu's advice, I decided to try one of everything. I ordered a Gordita with carne asada, a sope with al pastor, and a huarache with Chile verde. I had never had these items before - they are different from a traditional taco in that the corn wrapping is cut much thicker than a traditional tortilla and I ate these more open faced, rather than in my hand. These items were delicious - tasty masa wraps, flavorful meats, and fresh lettuce. I thought the pork offerings were a little more flavorful than the carne asada, but that might just because I'm a pork person. The items also held up well as I drove my takeout home, as they were securely wrapped. One caveat is that the three items above might not be as satisfying without meat, as the meat and it's flavor constituted at least half of the dish. All in all, this is a great local place for super flavorful Mexican food that is take out friendly! read more

We stopped in for an early dinner and had no idea for the amazing food that was to come. We ordered al pastor and chili verde tacos, a chili verde burrito, bean and cheese burrito, a carne asada and Al pastor gordita's. Ceasar recommended his personal favorite, the chili verde, and he was not wrong! So juicy with thick pieces of meats packed with flavor. The homemade salsas were incredible! 4 stars for the salsa! Which salsa? ALL The salsa! The red packs some serious heat, and the green will put some color into your cheeks. Great street tacos, very reasonably priced. Carne asada was my fave, but I really like the al pastor as well. It's one of few I've had that isn't overwhelmed by rub. The chile verde is a good choice as well. Juicy pork, plenty of chile. Good tacos, and it's the salsa that elevates them to great. Haven't had much to eat in Cambria, but I would definitely rank Boni's high on the casual end. read more

Food is amazing, The tacos, pastor and verde, were so good. Burrito was also yummy. Be prepared to wait a few minutes as there is a steady line of people getting food. A few tables and benches to sit at or grab and go. read more

Went to the store front today and got two burritos and an enchilada plate. I would skip the plate next time...nothing objectionable about it, but it wasn't really good. The pastor burritos and hot salsa, they were better than good. Boni's crisped up the outside of the burrito wraps, and that makes a huge difference to provide a charred flavor and crisp texture. The rice was well seasoned, the beans needed salt. But when added to the burrito, the beans help to balance out the salt of the filling. Really nice person working the window. Three meals for $30, in today's world, not too bad. read more

Woah this place is delish!! It was a little bit hard to find. It's behind the hardware store but you turn into a little alleyway of businesses and it's on your left. We got the al pastor breakfast tacos, well I guess they are really burritos. I decided on the medium and in my opinion it was pretty darn huge. They come in three sizes. Oh Lawd was it amazing!! Total delish! If I lived here I would be in my rotation for sure!! No wonder why they have such good reviews!!! read more

Every time we come to Cambria we stop at Bono's. We are never disappointed. Great food.

Handsdown best breakfast burrito and we live in LA. It blows every where else out of the water. We both opted for Al Pastor breakfast burritos. The red salsa / sauce was extremely flavorful. The refried beans in the burrito are delicious. This was a rec from our cab driver and I am so glad we got it! The food was made quick and was a good value IMO. We would eat here again!! read more

Only place I've seen they have 3 different size burritos. My wife had a small veggie burrito added jalapeños . She ate the whole thing. I ordered 2 of each tacos.. asada.. chicken, Al pastor , chilie verde. All were incredible.. Al pastor was the best. Not oily, or greasy, you taste the spice and pineapple. Tacos were phenomenal and amazing. Owner's stayed open a little longer for our phone order, which was much appreciated. Super burrito hit the spot; tasted homemade. Ordered some tacos to go in case we got hungry later at our hotel. One of the owners caught up to us across the street, as we forgot our condiments that we asked for. Every taco is made to order and it is worth the wait! Visited Cambria for two days and came here twice! Their carne asada tacos and chile verde tacos are to die for! Simple! Authentic! Delicious! I love Mexican food. I love it slightly more when I'm enjoying it at the beach. It must be that ocean essence in each bite! Located in beautiful Cambria, and very close to the ocean. We always take our food to-go so we can enjoy it with a beautiful view. We've had their tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and enchiladas. All great! During the week you'll find their kitchen in an industrial part of town and on weekends they have a food truck that is always in front of the Heritage Oak Bank located downtown. Their story is awesome as well. About 15 years ago the owner & founder received a vertical rotisserie from his brother as a gift. He began making al pastor tacos for his family get-togethers. That led to selling his tacos at local high school football games. Selling out of everything, each time. Now him & his wife along with their employees feed everybody who visits Cambria. So grateful! Once again, superb. Taco plate w/ el pastor, pollo, and Chile verde, with rice, beans, hot salsa. My wife had a chicken Gordita and loved it (one was enough). She had a side of chips and salsa also, and we both enjoyed horchata (drink w/rice, milk, cinnamon). If you're on the fence, get the drink - you won't be disappointed. It took me some time for me to try this quaint place or taco truck in Cambria. I had a carne asada quesadilla and my husband the al pastor tacos. Both of us really enjoyed the food. I preferred the green salsa with my quesadilla. It had a fresh and well spiced flavor while my husband prefers the red which seemed a bit spicier then the green. We sat outside on the tables provided by the truck. It's priced right for the food servings and a great spot for a quick snack or meal. read more

Alfonso is a human blossom The lunch crowd did not faze him as he took time to pulled a chair for my spouse, gave us water and literally sweeten the already fantastic meal with a flan on the house We were so hungry so we didn't take time for pictures. Chicken taquitos were extra crunchy. The mini carne asada and el pator tacos ....well my people tore them up and they are usually picky little brats. Don't get me wrong the food was tasty not because we were hungry. We have had our share with nasty inedible that made my spouse missed gas station hotdog (yea I know) My spouse loved his burrito...so did I. Found Bono's tacos walking through Cambria downtown! We needed something not too heavy and quick to eat before going on a hike and Bono's was perfect! We ordered Carne Asada tacos. They were simple yet full of flavor! The place gets quite busy on a weekend afternoon it seems. They do take phone orders for you to arrive, pay and pick up. The staff seemed friendly and were wearing masks (June, 2021) there is limited outside seating. There are 2 small tables for 2 and then there was a larger on which seat about 5-6 people. The tacos came with a side of salsa which you can pick spicy or mild. We got the spicy (red one) and it was spicy which we liked. I would recommend for anyone passing through Cambria! read more

This is a pretty random location but the chile verde super burrito I had was really solid and this is a worthwhile stop if you're road tripping in this part of the central coast (or live around here). Considering the location, the price was quite reasonable. We got various street tacos and a burrito. The carne asada was bit dry in both the tacos and burrito. Al pastor and chili verde were okay. Anyhow, we were glad that Boni was available as a meal option during the COVID time and the service was expedient. Before heading to the beach, my sister and I wanted some burritos, so we made our way to Boni's. It wasn't my sisters first time but it was mine, I was not disappointed. It was a little hidden, only because we haven't ventured out in the area too often but was a sign for me that the food was going to be delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, couple of chairs to sit outside or pick up to go. We each ordered a burrito, I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and the sister ordered a regular carne asada burrito. Not only can you select the style of the burrito(breakfast or regular) but you can select the size as well. The burrito was perfect from the flavor inside( bacon, beans, potatoes and egg) to having a crunch from the tortilla, and to the salsa(mild) being finishing touch to every bite. Pick your protein (love the al pastor and the chili verde) and then figure out if you want tacos, burrito, gordita, etc. During Covid it is only operating the semi-permanent food truck on the main drag so ignore the Yelp or Google map directions to the restaurant and either look on their site for the location, ask a local or just look on the main street for the truck. read more
