The service was quick, and the ordering process was simple and efficient. The tacos were decent, but I've had better al pastor elsewhere, and that happens to be my favorite type of meat. I actually preferred the gorditas over the tacos. The masa had a very authentic flavor and texture, which made them stand out.

Ok who would've thought some of the best tacos would be in the small town of Cambria?!?! Being from LA, and knowing that tacos only get better as we get closer to the border, I did not expect these tacos to hit as good as they did. So flavorful , they even got the pineapple bits on the Al pastor. It was awesome to have one of my favorite foods in the area and a good break from the more traditional fare. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's several benches/outdoor patio seating and it seems like there's a lot of regulars that stop by.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would highly recommend squeezing this place in your itinerary if you're in the area!

Boni's Tacos is a must! It's a small food truck that offers a variety of delicious Mexican food. My boyfriend and I tried their Al pastor and carne asada tacos, which were so delicious, that we had to order twice! The only issue we had was that they were a bit slow, and they were also extremely busy, so be prepared for a wait, especially during lunch time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Luckily they have some seating around, so you can soak up the sun, and enjoy the beautiful weather while you wait for your food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Um no pics of food because well it looked and tasted so good I didn't get a chance to take any lol. Staff was so kind and Spanish speaking as well! Lots of seating options outside. Had a chicken gordita and my oh my was it so delicious! Perfectly fried tortilla with well seasoned meat! Only critique i have is that i would have preferred fresh cheese vs melting cheese but regardless it was still delicious!! Definitely will be stopping by each time I'm in the area and you should too!

Found this little gem in the small town of Cambria. Showed up around 3:15, they close at 5 but were shutting down early due to running out of food. Couldn't get a burrito but had tacos instead. Ordered two carne, one pastor and one chili verde. Chili verde won by a long shot, absolutely delicious. Others were good too. Chips and salsa very tasty. Wanted rice and beans but they were out of beans, they looked great though from what we could see. Advice: don't go towards end of day, they're likely out of deliciousness.

The service was great but expect a 5-10minute line due to how popular it is. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a little food truck just off a popular street so you'll be hearing the cars pass by.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Breakfast Burrito was excellent! This is a very good burrito made with care to ensure it is both juicy inside and crispy/dry on the outside. Good price, good portions, great food. Strongly recommend!

Well, I don't have any pictures of the food to post along with my review, because we straight gobbled it up upon receiving our order LOL! We actually stopped into Boni's 2 times, one going up the coast and then on the way back. We ordered the Al pastor tacos, quesadilla and chile verde Gordita, everything was super yummy! Love that they cook the Al pastor traditionally, it's so good! The Chile Verde Gordita was epic good, the pork was so tender! The food comes out pretty fast, the staff is friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]there are places to sit outside the food truck that are comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly suggest Boni's for great Mexican food in Cambria!

My gosh, best breakfast burritos ever!!!! This was our first time here, and we absolutely LOVED it. We got the breakfast burrito with Al pastor, and it was gone within seconds. The service was quick and friendly, and we could tell the meat was fresh. Okay, so I've been coming to Cambria for years (like since I was in my 20s and now I'm in my 40s long) and only now did I discover Boni's. I'm pissed. All this time, there was amazing al pastor tacos just chilling on Main Street. Like really? Why haven't I been here before? So rude. Anyway. The Al pastor is so good. My husband and I shared a taco plate and as I write this, lightweight upset I didn't get a burrito because their beans and rice were also really good. Like, I'm also lightweight upset they were closed Tuesday-Thursday cause I was really hoping I'd be eating a goddamn burrito as I write this. They also ate quite popular. There was a lot of regulars that came up while we were there because more than a few times I hear "Usual order?". You know then it's a good place, We also had the chips and salsa. Chips were okay, like, acceptable and not going to complain. I do wish they were homemade though. The salsa though? My god. That was good. Like, I wanted more of that too. If you are hankering for amazing tacos, look no further than Boni's.

When you see a line at a local taco truck, you know it's going to be great! Crazy that I waited this long to try this place. My company raved over it...so duh! Of course, I was in! We have seen this taco truck in Cambria for years and never found the time to stop by. I recalled years ago reading about the owner, Boniface, and his efforts to provide good food to the community. This past week, we made the effort to find out why there were lines of people at this humble taco truck. The lines are a direct result of delicious Mexican food. The young man taking orders was extremely polite and helpful. My wife ordered the three taco plate and I ordered a taco pastor and a chili verde gordita. Oh my, what a taste treat. Everything was excellent The pastor was very good but I was thrilled with the chili verde. I ended up ordering a small burrito of straight chili verde. Yummy!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We will definitely go back and enjoy their good food and dine outside at the nice location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bon Appetite at Boni's!!!

Excellent and authentic casual Mexican street food. Pick your protein (love the al pastor and the chili verde) and then figure out if you want tacos, burrito, gordita, etc. During Covid it is only operating the semi-permanent food truck on the main drag so ignore the Yelp or Google map directions to the restaurant and either look on their site for the location, ask a local or just look on the main street for the truck. read more

I live 45 minutes away and I have come to eat here almost once a week for the past two years. It is bar none the best Mexican food on the central coast, with a great selection and great staff, it is always a treat to come to Boni's. read more

Please update your menu chicken stock in rice is not vegetarian friendly. I'm glad I double checked before ordering because that is really uncool that you have it in your vegetarian burrito. Please do some research before more vegetarians consume this animal product from your stand. read more

Small place with really good food. Amazing hot sauces. All 3 were really good. This place is worth the drive to go too. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu. Customer service was good, they had 2 small tables outside but most people order ahead of time and get the food to go. It's located inside a small industrial area not too hard to find just look for some small signs to help you find them. read more

Had the chance to buy some Boni's from their weekend food stand and I was very impressed. Like some of the reviewers on here, I will go ahead and say that where I live (San Jose, CA) we have an abundance of great Mexican restaurants and I can genuinely say that I would totally eat at Boni's if they were located up here! Absolutely AMAZING food. I sampled two of the meats and give both a thumbs up. The carne asada was well seasoned, chopped to the perfect size, and was all MEAT (no fat or gristle). The real star though was the al pastor. This is what was advertised and it lived up to the hype. Very juicy and great flavor. If you only get to try one protein...definitely go for the al pastor! Super Burrito...emphasized super! They sell their burritos in three sizes and the super is HUGE. Rolled together very well and the ingredients were layered so every bite was balanced. I also like how they grilled the tortilla so you get some extra texture! Tacos - I tried the al pastor tacos and loved these. You dress the tacos yourself (cilantro and onion). Also came with some grilled pineapple for extra flavor. Everything here is very well priced too. Generous portions and really tasty food. Definitely give it a try if you are in Cambria! read more

I stopped in here again today to grab some lunch, and it was as excellent as it's been every other time! This is simply some of the best Mexican food you can get. They are in a small location behind the hardware store during the week, and on the weekends they have a truck on the main street in Cambria. Definitely not fancy, and only a couple of places to sit out front, so it's probably more of a grab and go situation. But I promise you, you won't be disappointed. My current favorite is the pastor burrito (ask them to put some pineapple in too!) You're welcome!! read more

After spending the day running up and down the various beaches nearby everyone in our group was tired and hungry. Yelp never disappoints!! A quick search and some browsing brought us to Boni's tacos. The drive through a quaint little town was pretty cool, however Do not trust the GPS, it took us to the wrong spot. I was however able to call the owner and he gave me the correct address which I believe was 2430 village lane. For some reason our GPS still took us in a giant circle before we finally arrived. It looks like some old storage units that have been converted into business. Although some reviews do mention cash only ,they also take credit cards as well as Apple Pay. When we arrived the gentlemen told us they had just ran out of pastor (which according to their menu is what they are famous for) We opted for 2 taco plates with all the types of meat and a Gordita plate. Because of COVID they did have a sign posted stating there was a temporary increase in their prices. For all 3 dinners it was only 30$ which isn't too bad. All of them came with rice and beans , which were good but I do wish the serving size for the rice and beans was a little more. The Gordita was everyone's favorite. It was thin crispy masa stuffed with asada , cheese and lettuce Add a little of the chunky mild sauce and it was great ! My wife ended up swapping me her tacos for my Gordita. More food for me , perfect !! The chili verde was tender but wasn't spicy. It was more acidic and reminded me of tomatillo. The chicken was really good. It's semi shredded and according to the gentlemen had a smoky chipotle sauce. Asada was tender and flavorful. I would suggest going earlier. We arrived an hour before closing and they were out of pastor and all of the salsas except mild. It was quite busy for a very small hole in the wall out of the way place. I will be back to try the pastor in a few weeks!! There is also a cookie shop down the road but when we arrived there was a sign saying they were sold out and would reopen the next day. Was so good we came back twice in two days. Reasonably priced. Al pastor and chicken tacos were my favorite. Carne Asada was okay but I could skip it. Taco plate gets you 3 tacos plus rice and beans for $11. We also tried a breakfast burrito and it was tasty as well. Would definitely eat here again if we are in the area. read more

Everything is so darn TASTY! I love the burritos, my wife loves the tacos, we both love the gorditas. It's some of the best Al Pastor ANYWHERE. We live 'one foot in L.A. / one foot in Cambria' and I can tell you there's nothing Cambria has to envy about L.A. if you're a fan of Boni's. I have to order extra every time we leave town. My go-tos: The Breakfast burrito with Carne Asada or Chorizo. The Pastor/Asada combo burrito with Guacamole and extra green sauce inside will satisfy me for an entire day. read more

Wow! Amazing food for a reasonable price, never would have expected that in Cambria, the tourist trap. We went for lunch and it was easy to find, it's in a single story commercial building, there's a sign on the road, not too hard to locate. The order was prepared fast and we were on our way! What we loved; the AlPastor is amazing, very flavorful and moist. The green salsa was the best one they have, so many flavors and a medium amount of heat. The chicken and asada were also good, but not quite as good as the pastor. We will be back for sure! Also, there were a few misconceptions left in reviews for "Cash only" but we just used a card to pay. Seems they have been accepting cards for a while now. So that's a plus ! Can't wait to come back again, already craving more pastor and green salsa. read more

We were meeting family halfway between LA and SF and found Bon's taco truck next to Premier Bank on Saturday. Between the five of us, we sampled several tacos and burritos and everything was delicious! Super friendly guy at the window and we look forward to visiting their other location next time we're in the area on a weekday. read more

It was very tasty! Local treasure definitely worth checking out! I would very much like to try everything on the menu, because it all looked delicious! It is possible to pre-order online, which I would recommend doing because the wait time for food was almost half an hour. Worth it! Interestingly, if you sit at a table you get chips and salsa, but if you order takeout, no chips for you. read more

Came here a year ago and was probably the best tacos we have had so we had to come Back. Although it is a small Food truck with not much seating for outdoor eating the food makes it worth it sitting on a curb if need be. Staff is great and they are quick to get your food ready and the line moving. Tacos are amazing! Salsa is amazing!! Burritos amazing!!! So I am Sure everything else we didn't try is amazing as well. Meat is tender and fresh. Definitely need to stop to have some! We stopped again our second trip to Cambria and will Make this a tradition whenever we come to town! Delicious!! read more

This little taco truck in Cambria is awesome. Order Online or in person, love the service and the food is excellent. I had a Al pastor breakfast burrito this weekend and my wife had a bacon breakfast burrito. Both awesome. Previously we have had the Gordita and tacos. Awesome. Love this place. Delicious al pastor tacos! Al. Pastor. Did I say the al pastor tacos were delicious? We live in slo city and will be driving up for Bonis Tacos. Not many people does al pastor on the rotating spit grill like this around here. Ordered to go, and ate at San Simeon Trail to Washburn Campground. There's a day use picnic spot with clean flushing toilets. Bring hand soap, your hands will be greasy! read more

Very reasonably priced and super yummy! We were looking for something a little more causal in Cambria. Based on the fantastic reviews we decided to check it out and were pleasantly surprised. We got a couple of breakfast burritos and both were delicious! Only down side... this place is very popular so the line and wait can be long. I think you can call in your order ahead of time though. Will have to remember to do that next time. read more

Found this taco trailer near the bank on the main Street. Unlike many other taco trucks, they only have 4 meat options. Those are al pastor, pollo, steak, and chile verde. The al pastor is cooked like a shawerma though. We tried everything except pollo. The chile verde was underwhelming, was pretty mushy and didn't have much essence to it. The al pastor was pretty good, it was a bit dry but the flavor is good with a strong hint of spices, in addition they add pieces of grilled pineapple which is nice. The super burrito was simply bigger but was very dry, I wish they added guacamole like many other places. Overall a cheap place to eat around and given the location, I'll rate 4 stars, which otherwise would be a 3.5. read more

Holy smokes!! We were vacationing in the area from Los Angeles and could not believe the delicious food from this tiny but mighty spot. We ordered almost everything on the menu and everyone loved everything. Portions are hearty. Even out picky kids devoured the tacos and the huaraches. We knew it was a legit spot when we saw all the worker grabbing food from here. read more

Tucked away between L.A. and San Francisco is a village called Cambria -- and it's home to the most delicious tacos in California. Welcome to Boni's Tacos, where the food is always fresh, authentic, and served with a smile. We've been delighting locals and visitors alike with our made-to-order cuisine for more than 15 years. Our dishes are made from family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, leading back to our family's roots in Taxco, Guerrero. If you're looking for a traditional dish, try our al pastor -- it's specially prepared and always a hit. Visit us for breakfast and lunch at our brick and mortar location during the week on Village Lane, or stop by our food truck on the weekend on Main Street. But hurry, we're only open until the food runs out!

History

Established in 2004.

Our owner, Bonifacio "Boni" Viveros, emigrated from Mexico in 1972, then in 1989, he and his wife laid new roots in Cambria, CA. Boni (pronounced "bone-ee") and his family have been living in Cambria since and founded Boni's Tacos in 2004. We've grown into a local staple, and opened a food truck in 2006. Visit us for breakfast and lunch at our brick and mortar location during the week from 8 AM - 3:30 PM at 2405 Village Ln., or stop by our food truck on the weekend from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at 2253 Main St.

Now, full disclosure--I might be a little biased because Mexican food is my favorite cuisine. I grew up in Los Angeles, where finding incredible Mexican food isn't a challenge... it's practically a birthright. So when I say Medusa's is the real deal, I don't hand out that compliment lightly. My wife and I almost always order the Molcajete, and it's become our tradition. It's advertised as serving two people, and it absolutely does... assuming one of those people doesn't "accidentally" keep taking just one more bite. It's loaded with flavor, generous portions, and arrives at the table looking like it deserves its own introduction. The biggest surprise on this visit? The tortillas. They were fresh, homemade, and absolutely phenomenal. Maybe they've always made them from scratch and I somehow missed it, but this time they stole the show. They tasted just like the ones my abuelita used to make--warm, soft, and so good they almost made me forget there was an entire Molcajete sitting in front of me. One of my favorite things about Medusa's is that it's family-run, and you can feel it the moment you walk in. Everyone is genuinely welcoming, friendly, and makes you feel like you're more than just another table. That kind of hospitality is getting harder to find, and it makes the meal even better. I've eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants over the years, and Medusa's has earned a permanent spot near the top of my list. If you're in Cambria and craving authentic Mexican food, do yourself a favor and stop here. I was offended, not for the policy, but because I was already starting to see that was the case & it would have been so easy just to say it gently or nicely & acknowledge that our inquiry was no longer about coming into the restaurant or patio at all. That response made the difference between us taking the doggo back to the hotel room to return for dinner or writing a negative review apparently, because it felt condescending and no food experience is worth feeling unwelcome - especially when every place surrounding the area was completely pet friendly. They are located on a beach, but that day with not-so-relaxed vibes when a simple redirect would have been perfectly fine. I'm a pet person, and it's ok if that's not something you accommodate, I completely understand (especially, sadly, because some pet owners are not responsible, and their pets act like animals and not necessarily family members) - but there's no excuse for being rude when your entire job is service. You're in a beach spot where people come to relax with the people (or animal companions) they love most, no need to have an unfortunate attitude. :( Sorry restaurant/ chef/ other staff, I really would have liked to try the food. P.S. Dog-friendly places can happily have all my money, cheers to patio dining in (most of) California.

I literally can't believe this after the awesome experience we had here last summer. I would never think this was the same restaurant.

My wife and I were told to visit this place by our co-workers when we made our trip up north. I bookmarked it and made sure to visit this place before heading to Hearst Castle. We went to the address provided here and it lead us to their shop which looked like a "hole in the wall", 30 mins after they opened but was closed. We were disappointed and did not see anyone there. We noticed a sign that directed us to their truck just right around the corner. My wife and I were relief to find them open with a tent, table, and few chairs outside. The person taking our order in the truck was nice, genuine, and patient. Once we ordered our food, he even asked what we thought of it. I'm not sure if I was starving that morning or the hype was built for the past few days but that was the best Al pastor burrito i've had that was not overly salted and had a hint of pineapple. My wife ordered 3 mini tacos with Carne Asada, Al pastor, and chicken. They were all equally delicious. It was the perfect breakfast before continuing our road trip. Thanks!! read more

If could give them ten stars, I would. The food is ALWAYS delicious, the prices are beyond reasonable, and the service is impeccable. Boni's son kills it running the Friday to Monday business. My wife and I go up to Cambria for a week every May and two-plus weeks every October, and they always remember our order after the first day we come to them. They even know to have a plain carne asada taco for our dogs. The saddest day in Cambria is the day that Boni's has a catering gig on a service day (Friday to Monday)! read more

for cambria, these are amazing. i've no doubt these are the best tacos within 30 miles of this place. the al pastor is off the spit and the carne asada isn't cut up till you order it (at least, mine wasn't). you do your own fixings and you choose your own sauce. it's a light meal and these aren't your typical greasy tacos. i'm used to seeing places grease the tortillas when they heat them up, but i didn't catch any of that here. almost a healthy taco, if you will. i'd give them more stars, but i like my tacos greasy. read more

This place sucks now! $12 for a burrito and they still want to charge $1 for salsa? If I order a huge burrito, I should be able to get enough salsa to go with it. AND FOR $12! It makes no sense. I understand preventing people from abusing it but a small cup of salsa is not enough for a foot-long burrito. I use to go here once a week but from now on I'm going to Medusa's. If you can not find the taco truck which is only on the weekends go down to tin city ask any local how to get there (hint behind the hardware store). This is the place where they make all the great stuff. Only 2 tables to sit at but this stuff is so good you could eat it standing up. read more
