Still amazing. The $2.95 breakfast is now ham only. The bacon or sausage breakfast is now $8. It's 2025 and ya unfortunately the old bacon and sausage has gone up to $8 but at least they still have a $2.95 breakfast. They will still serve you ham, eggs any way you like along with toast and for $2.95. Coffee is $3.50 with unlimited refills. It's the same great unpretentious vibe and they also will serve you a $3 beer with any meal on Tuesdays (and I think Thursday.) Thank you Bon for being a Vancity institution and the fast and friendly service.

Graffiti and stickers... not sure if I want to touch anything!

OK... first off, this place is an FAV among YVR'ers. OK, with that being said, it's not anything foodwise that stands outs. It's the price that brings you in. YES... it's their famous $2.95 breakfast that's the big draw and the BATHROOM Graffiti on steroids that might just make or break your will to go in. I was sort of dragged here... and for people that survived our recent bout with the pandemic -bring sanitizer and put the mask on - over your EYES!!! You step in, and the generously phrased, "interior decoration" is uhm... interesting. Graffiti is an understatement! If you want ambiance ... well you got it with a slap in the face LOL!!! So.. their breakfast special is $2.95. Just don't make any changes but the way you want your eggs and bread. Any changes brings the price of it back up to $8 or more. One of us added some mushrooms to the scrambled eggs and boom $5 added. Coffee, if you want to call it that is unlimited and self serve. The regulars come in and the servers know who they are and knows their order. Some people come in for two or three breakfast combos. I guess that covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner - geez! Nonetheless, the servers here are hardworking, engaging, and super fast! Now this is a place that deserves tipping! Dropping a whole 50 cents here is for them constantly on the move - not cool! 3 stars for the service. Food, nothing special. Should you go here... maybe after a night of hard partying and you just want food. Now put that mask over your eyes and mentally play Weird Al and EAT IT!!!! Cheers.

Been quite a while since I was last at Bon's, and returned mid week mid morning. Yes they still have a $2.95 breakfast which is great but only with ham...the bacon and sausage options are now $8. Still it was nice to return. I do enjoy the casual atmosphere, and self refilling your coffee. The eggs were cooked to order. How can one beat a $2.95 breakfast post pandemic...you can not. It was a positive food experience and think Bon's is something all in the LMD should experience at some point.

The tables and art work lol take your own markers and leave a message or just your signature.

If you're looking for a creative vibe with great value food this is the place to go. It's has mismatched chairs and old decor but where in the lower mainland can you get a breakfast for $2.95!!! No where there's no frills but good hardy food. The pancakes are huge and delicious. Homemade soups that are great. If you want an artistic and funky place to eat this is the place for you.

Post pandemic, it looks like their (in)famous breakfast menu has changed. As of the time of writing, yes it is still $3, but this is only with the ham and hash browns options selected. Upgrade to sausage or bacon, and it's now $7. Rye toast is now another $2 on top. Read the menu before making a decision. The other thing that has changed is that the place now serves $2 beers (some sort of lager) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This has to be the new cheapest watering hole in town. Limit 2 drinks per person per visit. So yes, if done right, a breakfast and beer can be had for $5. Guess I'm coming back in the near future.

A Vancouver based foodie youtuber recommended this place so i decided to try it out with a friend one morning in November. Bon's is famous for their $3 breakfast deal all day, everyday. The food: The breakfast deal for $3 consists of two eggs with ham slices, hash browns, and buttered white bread toasted. It also comes with a serving of jam. I think for just $3 it's an EXCELLENT value for what you get and the dish overall is pretty good. My scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked. Ham slices were fresh. Toasted bread slices were buttered nicely and toasted well. But I liked the hash browns the most. It's tasty and kinda salty. My friend liked it so much they bought themselves another dish! I was already full at one dish so at $3 i'd say they give you a good sized portion. Not surprisingly, pretty much everyone else in the restaurant came for the same $3 dish. Looking at the menu, everything else is a tad pricey. $3 for a regular cup of coffee and $2 refills is not cheap. I didn't try anything else on their menu on this visit. Service: Staff are pretty nice and I felt welcome. The owner (the big guy) was checking covid vaccine codes and ID's outside. He was pretty strict about customers not going inside until you are checked. He was pretty busy taking customer's orders, serving meals, taking payments, and checking ID's outside. I came near the opening time after 8am and I was seated right away. Only 2 other tables were occupied at the time. I ordered 2 $3 breakfast deals which took a little longer than expected at about 10-12 minutes being served. Vibe: SO. MUCH. GRAFFITI! EVERYWHERE. Honestly, I think it's the ugliest decor I've ever seen for a restaurant. All the walls and booths have tons of graffiti on it. It's as if you had a huge big frat party and gave 100 people permanent markers to mark up the walls and booths with everything they wanted. Lot's of worn out random posters hang on the walls as well. It's a little unappetizing to see it but it didn't really bother me that much. I just never seen anything like it at a restaurant. Tables themselves were pretty clean though which is good. As for noise levels, the restaurant is not really loud, as you can easily talk at the table. They were playing pop music from the radio and a sports channel was playing on the TV. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way here just to get the $3 breakfast deal. But, if I'm in the area, hungry, and don't want to cook and want it pretty cheap, I could see myself coming here once in a while. 4 stars for the inexpensive but pretty good $3 breakfast meal deal.

Always 5star Bon food at bobs on Broadway. In the neighborhood. Pour your own water when you enter and usually self seated

US has 3 Buck Chuck (Trader Joe's $3 Charles Shaw vino) BC has 3 Buck Von's killer brekkie!!

Still rock solid good, $2.99 brekkie: 2 perfectly poached eggs, 3 split grilled skinless sausages, such a treat for an expat to have a porky taste of home, along with tons of brown sauce (brown ketchup, not HP) and skin on, fresh cottage taters, 4 pcs/2 slices whole wheat toast. It's that good I saw a diner order 2 plates and immediately pack one away in his own take home container! Coffee is now $2 and even though menu shows $2 for refills, the waiter/son of owner invited us to help ourselves to refills. Unsure what the refill policy is but don't ask too many Qs lol! The cup is the size of a demi tasse so 2 cups is like a mugfull so $2 would be steep for just 1 cuppa. And the flavor is definitely good, a nicety not often afforded most cafes serving the masses. We did ask about the grafitti decor... tired of the upkeep of spray painting over local high school patrons' continued defacing of the walls and posters, the Son conceded battle and instead embraced the ink, like Gino's East Chicago pizza sanctuary, the scribbles now left to lovingly adorn all surfaces not taken by framed pieces. A 3 buck breakfast tradition since 1984, I bet you will help continue the Von's fame!!

Spreading jam on my toast from the breakfast special.

Bon's Off Broadway is like that Cult Classic TV Show or Film that you may not totally understand why people like it. Here's the deal: Go in with the expectation that it's a grungy hole in the wall with cheap food. Also know that you gotta grab your own coffee refills (but in some ways I kind of like this, I mean, it's more annoying waiting around for 15 minutes for a refill because they're slammed). Atmosphere: Okay, first of all, the vibe is grungy and awesome. The walls are plastered with writing in Sharpie, cool stickers, graffiti and pictures of people who have come through or bands. Feel free to add to the walls too, apparently so remember that Sharpie! Tunes are good and unexpected -- I think they may have been playing some funky techno yesterday morning which kind of seem unexpected but also somehow fitting? You'l find young, old, families.. everything! Food: This is why people come here.. Their Breakfast special is 2.95 -- toast, eggs, potatoes and bacon, ham or sausage. Eggs cooked to how you like. Coffee is only a BUCK and you grab refills yourself! What? Anyways, they obviously have way more food on the menu, pancakes, waffles, I'm not even sure, that are a few bucks more than the special. So, how did the special taste? Yeah, like it was 2.95. Eggs seemed kind of small and watery and watered down -- is that possible? Potatoes weren't bad but nothing special or flavourful, toast was pretty flimsy toast and the bacon was also meh.. But it was $2.95! And it's an experience going there. You pay for what you get, but the environment is pretty cool and you can fill your belly for dirt cheap.

    Denise W.

I don't think I will come here ever again. I just came back recently and was surprised that the place got dirtier than before. It wasn't as good as its used to be. I got the $2.95 breakfast and yes the portion was way smaller than 2 years ago. Also it was super greasy food. Well still the place not much service. It seems like the place is way darker than it used to be. I will still not drink from their brown cups. I bought my own water bottle and water. Also, not sure what happened but it seems like it went downhill by a lot. Yes the place is still pack and busy.

best breakfast place in Vancouver ,Hidden Gem! I always going there for brunch. All day breakfast, amazing price but good quality!

    Carolyn L.

I came here just to try the $3 breakfast special. I was expecting a line but I guessed at 930 am on weekend, it was busy but we got a table. Service was almost non existent. They only came by to take order and served the food and cleared the plates. The place is dingy ghetto with graffiti and old posters all over the walls. The food was decent. Just do not expect anything fancy or gourmet. I will say this will likely be a one and only time visit. Just for the experience. I saw an insect crawling on the wall. Thank goodness it was not a roach, well my friends said it was an ant. It looked huge. I will just take their words for it.

Jam Cafe, Vancouver Jam Cafe is my favorite brunch spot. Anywhere. That sounds like an exaggeration. It isn't. I've been traveling to Vancouver for work for almost a decade, and every single trip includes a stop at Jam. If I'm lucky, two. I've also become that coworker who convinces everyone to meet outside at 7:45 in the morning so we can be part of the first seating at 8:00. Thankfully, we're all from the East Coast and have been awake since 5:00 anyway. Over the years I've successfully JAMfluenced more business travelers than I'd like to admit. And yes, it's still worth the wait even if you're not first in line. The restaurant itself is tiny. Cozy farmhouse vibes, mismatched decorations covering the walls, and maybe 15 tables between the dining room and patio. It feels more like someone's favorite neighborhood breakfast spot than one of Vancouver's brunch institutions. The menu is comfort food turned up to eleven. Everything is indulgent, creative, and somehow still balanced. You can tell the kitchen starts with great ingredients because every component tastes like it could stand on its own. I try to branch out every visit... and then usually end up ordering the Tater Tot Bowl anyway. Crispy tater tots, buffalo sauce, Mexican street corn relish, and ridiculously good pulled pork. It's the kind of dish that sounds like it shouldn't work, but every bite somehow gets better than the last. And then there are the cinnamon roll pancakes. They are enormous. They're also one of the best brunch dishes I've ever eaten. Birdfluencer Lorraine M. declared them the best pancakes she's ever had, and after several visits, I don't have much of an argument. Service is exactly what it needs to be. Friendly, efficient, and quick. The staff knows there's a line forming outside before the doors even open, but you never feel rushed. Overall, Jam Cafe has officially become part of my Vancouver tradition. At this point, a work trip to the city doesn't really start until I've had breakfast here. If you're visiting Vancouver and only have time for one brunch, this would be my pick without a second thought.

Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. He suggested a Benedict dish, but I'm not a fan of runny eggs. I had already decided on the El Camino poutine and plot twist....it also came with two runny poached eggs. Even so, it was still delicious, mainly because the yolk texture wasn't an issue with the crema on the dish. That poutine was an easy 9/10. It came loaded with cheese curds, pork carnitas that weren't dry at all, bacon, pinto beans, roasted pineapple for a little sweetness, salsa, jalapeños, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro crema, and spinach. The herb potatoes were seasoned so well too. All in all, a great last meal in Vancouver from the food to the service (even beyond Dursh, everyone was helpful) to the patio vibe. Great spot.

The service was quick and prompt, too! Although we didn't find a place to sit, given how much people love this place, we happily enjoyed our food in the seating area overlooking the Canada place, few others joined us there too! I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

The menu selection for adults and kids was excellent. And the food was just fine right and at a good quality. The star is the high tea. If you've never done high tea before definitely do it here. We go regularly and experienced some of the best one's in the US. This i think is the best or second best I've ever had. The value is there. The ambience was exquisite. The charm was there. And the food was excellent. Every bite was executed well. We even had vegetarians with us which sometimes get short changed and they got as good of an experience as we did.

The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the food? So much of it. We actually had to take some home, which almost never happens with high tea. The pastries and sandwiches were not only beautifully presented, but also creative and well-executed--nothing felt like filler. You can tell there was real thought put into the menu. The space itself is elegant and charming, making it perfect for a pre-spring outing, a catch-up with friends, or a low-key celebration. Would I come back? Absolutely--especially for a themed menu like this.

I've only been to the original location on Robson years ago, so wasn't sure if the quality had stayed the same, but we thought it was worth trying. We ordered a Tiramisu and a Bresilienne to share between four people. It came out it in relatively short time. And wow, they were both even better than I remember. Their waffles are incredibly crisp and light, despite the amount of toppings on them. I don't know how they make them so they stay so resistant to going soggy. And despite the amount of whipped cream, ice cream and sauce on them, the waffle was always able to balance out the sweetness. Their waffles are just perfect balance of flavour and texture. Service was also quite impressive. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, and brought share plates with out being asked. Overall, a great dessert. I don't know why I haven't returned earlier.

Tasty!! We just got…read moreoff of a cruise and were looking for somewhere close for breakfast and stumbled across this place near our hotel. We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.

But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.
