My friends and I had such a great time here! The atmosphere is more of a laid-back, sit-down bar where you can actually relax, have a conversation, and enjoy your drinks. The drinks were made really well. A special shoutout to Reese at the door, he made getting in quick and easy and had us laughing while we waited. Boondocks is mostly outdoors so it can get a little hot in the summertime, but they have fans spread around that help. The fries we ordered came out cold and kind of mushy. The French 75 was fine but could've been a little more chilled. Service was also mixed. Some bartenders were very friendly while others were cold and seemed frazzled by the crowd. read more

Stopped in for a quick round with a group of friends on a Sunday afternoon. It seemed to be more of a twenty something party crowd, which was fine- just not what we were looking for. We were mainly looking to hangout and watch some of the college basketball games. We were waiting a while at first for drinks since it was busy. We then saw a bartender at the bar by the pool tables. It was our first time stopping in at Boondocks. Our group rented the Arizona Party Bike and this was one of our stops! What a fun place! During the World Cup game (7/11), a security guard kicked us out for "standing in the way" of a walkway. We had been in the same spot for 3 hours prior to being kicked out and no one had said anything to us. Also, there was 8+ feet of walkways behind us (measured per our footsteps). I am very disappointed in the way we were treated at the Scottsdale boondocks. I don't know if I will be returning in the future. read more

Admittedly, I had never been to Boondocks back when I was actually out in the nightlife scene...it opened after I'd stepped away from that world. But over the years, I've ended up here a few times with a group of people I often see on Thanksgiving. So yes, it is open on Thanksgiving, which earns it some points right there. Each time I've gone, I've honestly been surprised by how much I've enjoyed myself. This last time, I was sipping Shirley Temples while a friend was drinking, and we caught some live music that wasn't half bad. There's plenty of space, including pool tables and outdoor areas, which makes it easy to keep to yourself if that's your style. Shoutout to the bartender on this last trip! He was attentive and made sure my Shirley Temples stayed full the whole night. Even though he knew I wasn't drinking alcohol, he still made me feel taken care of and part of the bar experience, which doesn't always happen at places like this. That kind of service stands out. Heads-up: one Thanksgiving I ended up paying something like $75 for three shots of tequila. That might've been my fault for not specifying the brand--if they gave me top shelf and I took the hit, so be it. Still, worth noting if you're ordering shots. It's a younger crowd overall, and yes, there are definitely some classic "doofus dudes" around on a busy night, but I've never witnessed any issues personally. The vibe has always felt safe and upbeat, and the mix of live music or DJs keeps things interesting. Would I wander in on my own? Maybe. After going the times I have over the last couple of years, I could see it happening. I'm not much of a drinker and definitely don't consider myself part of the scene, but this is one of those spots that works when the group is going and the mood is right. read more

We had friends in town and they wanted to go to Boondocks to watch the Sunday NFL games. We arrived Sunday 11/24 around 1:00pm and it was a nice crowd of mostly Vikings, Cardinals and Seahawks fans. It has 2 large outdoor screens to watch the games and several screens indoor/outdoors. The patio is also dog friendly. The patrons were all polite and stayed out of everyone's way so people could enjoy the game, that was until the late game and a different crowd came in. Our server was Caitlin and she took great care of us. She was attentive and never left us waiting for food or beverages. We ordered the Ribs, fries and nachos. All were fine. Margaritas and beer were good and filled to the top. We stuck around until after the last game started and that's when the entire atmosphere changed. This seems to be a different type of bar in the evenings and that is fine if that is the type of bar they want to run. We tried to go the following Saturday 12/1. We walked in, and walked immediately out. I would say Boondocks is a great place for a Sunday afternoon game day. read more

This place is your typical dive/sports bar with, a few pool tables, two bar areas, a really cool fire pit and lots of tvs! Parking is on the street. It wasn't very busy at 7p, but usually by 9p there are large crowds and it's tough to walk around. I've never tried the food here. The other times I've visited on Friday nights, they had live music going, but this time they did not. The pool tables are also usually really busy and there's usually a wait. Great bar , great drinks, great staff, great atmosphere! Indoor outdoor feel with nothing short of things to do for a good time. Pool tables, shuffle board, darts, and other games. Really good food, burgers are great and so are the cheese curds and salads . Service is top notch management and bartenders are top notch in general ! Giant tv on the patio , live music, and dj! Tons of beer options and frozen delights with a really nicely stocked back bar! Lots of seating, tables and couches along with bar seats. Lots of deals, happy hour, buckets and brunch. The drinks, how do you complain? They're great and the bartenders are kind and professional! The sports bar concept is amazing! The tvs are massive and the music is incredible! The food isn't that great though. It may have been because we were there for peak weekend with sports on etc. The bathroom situation sucks too lol but all sports bars in this area it's similar too. Our go to place for food. We often order our food to go because we frequent Fox Cigar down the street. The portions are a good size and my favorite is the Carne Asada Wrap w/ Sweet Potato fries. The bartenders are always so welcoming, offering me a water and a seat while I wait for my order to be cooked and packaged. I also love that the several times I've been there (Thursday-Saturday nights), their kitchen was open til midnight. read more
