Got the cornflake chicken sandwich. Simply out of curiosity. Fries cooked perfectly. Rye bread surprisingly fluffy and authentic. Missing a killer sauce. Tried the pilgrim turkey sandwich from a friend and it was a thanksgiving dinner in every bite. The stuffing was very flavorful and the gravy was the perfect compliment to the cranberry mayo. Knocked it out of the park. Started at two stars for service but server made it right by giving a free sampler with healthy pours. Once we were able to order the food it came in fifteen which was a very reasonable amount of time. Little mix up with who our server was and our intentions of eating or just drinking. Had we been served properly from the start it would have been a solid four. Certainly willing to give them another shot to redeem the last two stars. read more

Placed an order on Grubhub and no problem there. Menu is fantastic, lots of different choices, check it out you will find something you'll want to try. Wife ordered the turkey burger and says "it was awesome". I got the catfish tacos and the crispy jalapeño's were a nice topping. Creoleslaw is good too. My favorite part however was the flourless chocolate cake! I don't see that on many takeout menus, and it was really really good.Even an option to help the environment and say no to plasticware. Thought it tasted ok going down. But my body wanted this food up and out beginning about two hours after I ate it. Saturday brunch... I had a Bacon and egg Bloody Mary that was watery. When the thing that excites you the most about a drink is the fact that it comes with three olives....? It was the only element with flavor. Crab cakes Benedict came in a huge portion size. Lots of breading in the cakes, but a lot of crab too. Heavy, mucky hollandaise, but the flavor was fine. Service was nice, though wait time between order and arrival for both drinks and food was LOOOOONG. Not sure which element did it, but 20 hours later I'm still suffering. Body aches, stomach heaving out of my body... I'll spare you any more details. Haven't been able to eat a thing since this meal. Doubtful I will return. read more

I will never, ever, EVER, buy a drink at this establishment again. Can someone please explain how on a Saturday night at 11PM one can buy a drink of Saranac Pumpkin and it be 5.50, and then an HOUR later it's 8.50? I'm fairly sure that the bartender thought I was drunk and wouldn't count my cash because he verbally told me 12 dollars, and then returned with three and explained that the "prices must have risen". The prices ONLY got higher for that beer. I will come to dance possibly cause the dance floor is nice and they play good songs but it's hotter then the sun, can somebody get a vent or an A/C up in there? Nobody looks good when they are sweating like they just ran a marathon and it's not even PACKED yet. Ah. We came here on a Sunday afternoon with a LivingSocial deal and were hoping to get a few good burgers. The place was pretty dead when we got there and we were immediately seated. They have a great selection of draft beer (~30 or so) and after we chose our drinks and burgers, we sat around for over 30 minuts waiting for our food. There were maybe 3 other small groups there (most of which already had food), so there was no reason why it took so long to get our meals. When we got them, the fries were bland and the burgers were fairly dry (despite wanting medium and medium-rare). All in all, we won't be back for food. They do have a nice selection of beers on tap, but it doesn't outweigh the poor service and subpar food. read more

I came here with a group of folks on a Saturday night after my sister-in-laws wedding reception. We arrived later in the evening and the band was already going. The place was super loud and impossible to talk in most areas of the bar. The patio was packed which wasn't surprising since it was a bit hot inside. I think they were having some sort of event, so it may have been more crowded than normal. They had a pretty long tap list. It was June so most beers were lagers or summer beers, which was a bit disappointing for variety, but they had some other options too. My husband and I waited nearly 15 minutes in line to get a beer. When we finally got up to order I was told they were out of my choice and the bartender didn't come back for 5 minutes while she was "waiting for me to choose." Had she not just walked away when I ordered, she would have known I easily could have ordered something else within a few seconds. We decided to each order 2 beers since we knew waiting in the line would be pointless again. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. However, judging from the other reviews it could have just been that there was an event going on that messed up the atmosphere and service. I'll likely give it another try when I'm in town. read more

The first star is because they accommodated our pre-Music Hall rush for food, and the second for the live band, and the pleasant bartender/ waiter. The mozzarella sticks we did get were not hot and could have come from the nearest grocery store freezer. The rest of our order was confused by the server and never put in. No adjustment to the bill for the mistake, but an apology. I will not return to try it again when there is so much else to try in Troy. read more

So, its momma's day and I'm out grabbing a bite before dinner. I'm just a jerk like that. We went in, and it was dead, 2 tables outside and us inside. The bartender/waitress was super sweet and attentive, and the game was on and she made sure I could see it from every angle, I appreciated that. The beers on tap are extensive and the tap is clean, no headache or skunky taste. The beer was cold and fresh and the food was good pub food. Rivals the old Brown's for burgers, the Brown's that I miss. Fries were seasoned and good and we shared the fried mushrooms. What a taste, brings me back, they were old school delicious. Came here on a Friday night last week. It was Troy Night Out and there was a private Halloween party in the back, so it was pretty packed. We have been here before and always commented on the excellent service from the bar to the restaurant area. This is a pretty fun place to come for Sunday football and we have visited several times before. We had to wait a while for a table and this process was a bit unorganized (thats why I took 1 star away). The friendly crowd let me in so I could order 2 craft beers while we waited. I had purchased a Groupon for (2) specialty burgers and (2) drinks for $17.00. OK, so here is where it gets good. I ordered the special Bootleggers burger with bacon cheese and a fried egg. Jayne go another specialty burger (forgot what is was, but she loved it). I have consumed my share of burgers in my day. Without a doubt, this was the finest most delicious hamburger I have ever had. The bun was perfect, the egg was a great addition, the bacon crisp, WOW......... The owner came over to validate my Groupon with a smile. Many times people try to come up with an excuse not to validate these things. (happened at the german place next door, suddenly the burger special could not be honored and it cost me an extra 6 bucks) Not here, he was happy to honor it, and we left satisfied and eager to return. read more

Great bar! Their beers are great, mixed drinks are strong and delicious. Haven't tried their food yet, but have heard only positive things about it. They have themed nights, I believe Monday is karaoke, that's a great time for all ages. They have live bands come in, the one I saw was awesome! This is the first place I ever got a Sam Cherry Wheat with cherries in it, I was sold right when I saw that! The wings are fantastic! As are the burgers. I haven't ventured much further through the menu, but what I have tried has been delicious. Service is hit and miss. When you finally get it, it's usually pretty good. Like with most places, the later you go or the busier it gets, the harder it is to get someone. They have functions and other stuff in the back room, but I've never experienced it, so I can't comment on that. I've been to Bootlegger's twice and both times took advantage of the same deal. On Wednesday evenings from 5-8 (I think), they have a "beat the clock" large cheese pizza offering. Basically, whatever time you order your pizza is the price you pay. Luckily, both times I was able to catch a pizza somewhere around $5.50, though if I had to drive around a little more to find parking, it could have easily became a $6 pizza, oh the horror! On both visits I found the servers friendly and enjoyed the music on the jukebox. It's not a fancy venue, but there are more than 20 beers on tap, so craft beer lovers will not be disappointed. I'd go there again, but probably on a Wednesday for pizza because you really can't go wrong with the deal, even at 7:45. read more

I can't say how much I love this place. My husband and I go all the time. There hospitality goes above and beyond, they always take impeccable care of each customer. After going a few times, they call us by name and even know the things we like the most. The manager and staff are always upbeat, happy and helpful. I've had my birthday there and my husband had his bachelor party. To add to that I feel as if it's a very judgment free area, treating everyone with the upmost respect. Chef Troy also makes some of the best food I've ever had. I will keep going back! read more

The appetizers were good and came quick. that was the good part. We were there later in the evening on a weekend. The bar (inside, not the location) was very difficult to get to. The Music was so loud that even at a yell it was hard to hear the people right next to me. there was also a lovely fight that ended with someone knocking out a plate glass window. Bottom line- too many drunk college kids, There are more peaceful bars for responsible adults looking for a good evening. read more

Our group of 5 decided to try out Bootleggers for lunch yesterday 9/19 since the restaurant next door was crowded and said almost 30min-1hr wait. We saw hardly anyone at Bootleggers so we took a seat inside around 1:20. The waitress/bartender said they are short staffed so it may be a little bit of a wait. That was an understatement. We didn't get our drinks until almost 30 min after we sat down. I couldn't believe they only had 2 people running that place yesterday with all those open tables inside/outside. We placed our order for food and kept asking about it when 3pm rolled around. Now it's over an 1hr 1/2 Still no food, unacceptable!! We should've just waited for the restaurant next door! I felt so bad for the waitress, she said they called someone to come in to help. By that time we were just fed up and I'm assuming it was the owner who came over and apologized but we had to let him know that we saw other tables who arrived after us, get their food way before us. We wanted to actually sit down and eat, not pack our food to go which was cold by the time we all got home. I will not say that our table was overlooked on purpose as the only minority table there - however, It sure seemed that way. I do not recommend anyone going here with large groups during rush hour. And if you are, ask how long the wait is. read more

I came here with a bunch of friends during homecoming weekend. It was around 1 am. The bouncer saw a large group and requested a $5 cover. $5 cover in Troy, NY? lol we're not in NYC. Always the place to go for Happy Hour and meeting great people. But recently just found out that they fired 1 of their top male staff members SAMMY. He was 1 of the only male waiters and 1 of the funniest and best people I've have ever met. Yes he may not of been you fastest waiters but he was the best to talk to, listen to and entertain you. Only giving 2 stars because the food is decent. But if you want to receive the worst service come here. I come in when I work in the area once a month, and get cocktails and food. The bartender who's pregnant with tattoos and miserable will ignore you until you have to flag her down. Seems like she only caters to her regulars more than any other guests. Today is when I drew the line. I sat down at the head of the bar was ignored for over 10 minutes. Finally the waitress asked me what I needed I told her and she told the bartender, who then seemed to let out a sigh. I finally got my drink, that the waitress ended up making and giving me. I was ready to pay immediately because I just wanted to leave at that point, had my money out for another 10 minutes until I had to flag her down. Pouring the guy next to me a shot she makes a puke sound obviously trying to be somewhat funny. But you are a bartender, like cmon. She clearly doesn't want to be there. We went to Bootleggers as a last minute change to date night. Not a place I would have normally chosen for date night, as we usually prefer more upscale dining experience but it was some of the best service and pub style food! The onion rings were amazing! Apparently they make most of their menu from scratch, including the bread that my burger was in. 3 Adult beverages, an appetizer and 2 dinners...all for around $50. Very nice casual atmosphere. Great food choices. Only problem was deciding what to order! Chose the Bistro, it was delicious. I love burgers with eggs. The Italian meatloaf sounded great also.
