I was really torn between the corn chowder and the clam chowder, but since I was here, I decided on the clam chowder. Good choice. I generally love chowder without the clams, so I'll spit out the clams. But this place had good clams and I licked my bowl clean. It's a fast food place so you get your order and then go out to the dining area and look for seating. The price is ok..maybe a bit more than what it should be because it's a big tourist area. But the quality more than makes up for it and hot clam chowder on a chilly day sure hits the spot! I'd come back again. I was looking for a cup of good old chowder while visiting in Boston and I have had the chowder here and I knew that this place will be exactly what I needed/wanted. I approached the counter which was very crowded and ordered a cup of New England clam chowder and paid. The guy who helped me out was very nice and attentive. You should know what you want to order before it's your turn so that you don't take too long. Now the food: I got the double lobster roll. I didn't realize it would be so big. I bought the Groupon deal for Boston Chowda for $12 for $24 worth of food. I ordered the lobster roll with clam chowder. They were both satisfying. I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more if I didn't have the best clam chowder and lobster roll at Union's and Neptune's the 2 days before. I also didn't like how they put so much mayo on the lobster roll too. But the lobster did taste fresh underneath the mayo. To be honest, the food was good. Wasn't awesome. And for the price, I think I'd rather go to the many places in Boston that are top caliber food. However, it was a great experience to have ordered and ate at the famous Quincy market. Clam Chowda in the bread bowl is a must here! We enjoyed it so much that we even finish the entire bowl, which means the bread tastes good as well. The clam chowder is rich but not overly so. It also has a lot of content in it (just the right amount of clams!). It really beats what I had in fisherman's wharf in SF. The lobster roll combo is also a very popular item. The lobster was very fresh and the amount is generous as well. I tried the daily special Manhattan Clam Chowder with the lobster roll. It can't really compare to the New England Clam Chowder. I also didn't enjoy the Maine Lobster Mac&Cheese as much. I thought there should be more lobster given its almost the same price as the roll. But it was not the case. There is no seating at Boston Chowda in the Quincy markets. But you can walk a few steps to get standing tables or seats or go to the 2nd floor to find tables. People are eating pretty casually so it's even OK to sit on the floor. Pretty crowded at lunch hour though. But Go for the clam chowder! read more

I know it's called Boston chowder Company, to be honest I have had better chowder in Boston. It is in a touristy area however, their food is actually quite good. I have had two things, the clam shouter, and the lobster roll. The clam shouter was not as good as I expected it to be, but the lobster roll was fantastic. I have had three different lobster rolls in Boston and this one is my favorite and it was the cheapest out of the three. They give you a lot of both tail and claw meat, a little bit of lettuce for flavor, all on a nice New England style roll. If I were to go back to quincy market, I would come back for the lobster roll. There are many good places to try, but this is a place I wouldn't overlook. read more

The lobster roll is alright, but is not on the same level as others that you can get in Boston. It has a lot of mayo, and the piece of lobster were smaller than the extra large chunks that other places serve. The chowder ("chowda") is actually pretty good and you can get in in a combo meal for a decent deal. I think a lot of people try Boston Chowda Co. based off its location, but honestly it gets insanely crowded in Quincy Market with tourists and seating is limited so most of the time you'll find yourself eating outside on a bench or steps to avoid the mass of of tourists that congregate in the area with tables inside. I didn't HATE it, but I had a lot better in the area during my visit to the city. I would recommend this to someone who is looking to try a combo of things for a fair price. read more

From the name, it's clear that you have to try the chowder here, since that's their specialty. It had decent flavor to the broth, but i usually prefer thicker chowder. I also found it to be light on the clams. Better chowder elsewhere in Boston, but this is an okay quick bite if you don't have much time in the city and are walking the freedom trail. We also tried the often mentioned lobster roll. My first one ever! Very mayo heavy, though maybe that's normal? It had a good amount of lobster in the actual topping, which was nice.
