Boston's Fish House has outstanding seafood with multiple sources for fresh seafood. The Mahi pan seared fish tacos are outstanding as well as the pan seared Mahi fish sandwich. Both items come with two sides. Also, when available, the broiled or pan seared swordfish is outstanding as well. If you are in to fried seafood, this is what most people eat at Bostons from the fried fish to fried clams, scallops, oysters, or other fried seafood platters. There is a line out the door for a reason. When food is this good, people wait. First timers will feel awkward at first, waiting in the staggered line, ordering, and then taking a seat. However the staff is very friendly and will guide you through it all. If you're in a hurry, go somewhere else, but you're missing out. Lobster bisque is wonderful, and broiled/fried Seafood Platter can easily feed two. In fact, I highly recommend doing so. Large portions, but it's not all about quantity, the quality of the food is what your here for, and it is delicious. The Boston Fish House, Has great Fried Clam strips baskets, also their Fried Shrimp Baskets are wonderful..... All Seafood we've had is very fresh, serviced hot and fast.....Comfortable surrounding...plus they do have some local beers and wines. You will find allot of bistro type seating in front which is covered...You also, have booth and table seating inside......along with several TVs available. My husband and I have been talking about coming here for 15 years, so I was stoked that we finally achieved our lifetime goal! I read dozens of reviews prior to our visit, so I was slightly concerned about the quality, portions, and pricing. However, I'm happy to report everything was stellar. We visited at lunchtime, which is apparently the best time due to the speed of (friendly) service. We split a side salad, the fisherman's platter with Cajun seasoning, Mac & cheese, and broccoli salad, and everything was top notch, although the Mac & cheese was just meh, likely one of the victims of the recent changes. But the fish, scallops, shrimp, clams, onion rings (ordered the pink sauce per my fellow yelpers for the win), and broccoli salad were all delectable! Plus, we took home enough food for an additional meal, so the $50 (after tip) didn't sting so much. I was introduced to Boston's Fish House by some friends who know my standards. It's true, first timers will feel out of place. You'll wait in a line that doesn't feel like it's moving. It's worth it. The menu isn't pretty, and the food presentation is just okay, but the taste and quality is there. The service makes you feel like you're in a small town -- it's exceptional. The staff are on-top of every need you have -- as my friends reminded me of my high standards. They seem to have things down to a science. Typically with fast-casual restaurants, I avoid appetizers because they usually come out with the food. They actually pace your experience. Drinks, appetizers, then entrees. Try the food without sauces first. The fried shrimp and fish breading is very light and airy. Then add on their signature tarter and/or cocktail sauces, and enjoy. We ordered the fried pickles to share, my friends thought they were really good, though I felt the batter wasn't adhering to the pickles well enough and they were a tad too salty. Neither which stopped me from eating them though. BIG Portions -- Lunch is enough for a hungry man's dinner, and 2 people could easily share a dinner portion with some to spare. Every time I've been, I've noticed the crowd is typically older (55+), with a few younger folks here and there. Sometimes I find it refreshing as fewer younger folks typically means cleaner language and behaved children (if any). I'm 31. Some minor decor changes might make things pop better -- flooring (peal and stick laminate perhaps) and seat/booth cushions. I'm having a really hard time finding quality fish in Orlando, and its barely 50 miles from here. Fried mushrooms appetizer, 5 star. The coating had tyme and some other spice, served with ranch and asiago cheese sauce. I ordered Cajun mahi mahi, bad choice. Cajun spices too salty, too much, and the fish was broiled too long. I never usually eat tarter and had to have it to finish my meal. Mac and cheese side, cheesy like a box, maybe velveta. Husband liked it because it wasn't dried out. I would rather have seen homemade Mac and cheese. It's easy and not that expensive for the price of the meal. Green beans, excellent. They were fresh green/yellow beans and slivers of carrot. It's totally surprised me, because they weren't frozen or canned. Husband had fried pollock, he liked it, but nothing really special. No bread or hush puppies were served with our meal. They close for half hour to filter the oil, I guess that's a good thing, the restaurant was clean. You order and pay upon entering, then sit down and a person brings your drinks and food. Boston's Fish House has always been my "go to" restaurant for good seafood and especially fried shrimp. Today we both opted for the lunch order of fried shrimp with onion rings. Since the entrees come with two sides, we chose steamed green beans and a sauteed squash medley. The fried shrimp never disappoints nor the onion rings. Both were crispy and delicious. The batter is not heavy at all which is my preference. The squash medley was very flavorful and seasoned perfectly, but the steamed green beans fell short as they were cold and lacking. I gave Boston's Fish House four stars because even though the food is great, the interior of the restaurant needs definite updating. New booths, tables and chairs would be a refreshing and positive change for this Winter Park location. Even new flooring would be an added plus. The restaurant has been in this location since 1998, and the interior shows its age. Unfortunately, there was even a strange odor at our booth. Not the most pleasant situation for dining. Hopefully, renovations will be coming soon. Outside dining is also available, so next time we will choose that area to enjoy their great food. read more

We've eaten here many times and have always been impressed. This time, we invited first time guests and were completely disappointed. One person ordered coconut shrimp and when it was brought to our table, it didn't have the sauce that comes with it. When she asked about it, server said they were out of it. That should have been told to here upon ordering. She likely would have ordered something different. My husband and I both thought our food too greasy and overcooked. Service was lacking as well. Like I said, my husband and I have been there many times so we are able to compare it to our other visits. This one was not good. My family and I have been enjoying Boston's Fish House since it was in a small two room House on Aloma Avenue and have never left dissatisfied. In my opinion the seafood is the freshest you will find in the area. While I haven't tried their baked seafood dishes, the fried seafood is beyond compare. I normally get the fried shrimp box or fried oyster box along with fried onion rings. The clam chowder and lobster bisque are also a must. I recommend arriving early as this place gets crowded. WAY overpriced chicken "tenders" lunch ($11.99) that used to be a big fillets are now horizontally sliced the thickness of deli meat and fried in a sickly sweet greasy batter. The four slices of meat didn't even equal one chicken fillet. I understand costs have risen on everything but this is stretching it too far, it was awful. All the sides (mashed potatoes, coleslaw, Mac & cheese) were bland like other reviewers have mentioned. Tried the lobster bisque ($8), too salty and no rich lobster taste, not good. Husband had the butter and seasoned cod ($20 - 8 oz), had no seasoning at all, no lemon, just plain in a dish. They packed up our leftovers (we didn't eat much) and we took it home and threw it away. Based on reviews from other Yelpers I so wanted to like this place. Of course I had to try their lobsta roll. It was excellent. The onion rings were perfectly battered. The cole slaw was too sweet. My friend got sick to her stomach from something she bit into in her clam steamers. She's from Massachusets and knows her seafood. Our server did swap her steamers out with scallops but with a look of derision on her face. One of the other guy servers gave us a snooty gay attitude. I don't care about your sexuality; don't be a snot. The other strike against them was the musty smell in the restaurant. Maybe they need the AC ducts cleaned, but it shouldn't smell like that. Fried Fish, French Fries, hush puppies, they have a lot of fried food, They can blacken the fish, but it usually is mushy and doesn't have much flavor, so might as well have it fried. If you want a nice seafood place, go somewhere else. This is a family kinda place. The lobster bisque they have is pretty good. This place is good, but if you're looking for a nicer seafood joint go somewhere else. Here, you order at the front, and they'll bring the food out to you. Oh, and if you're thinking about going for an early dinner, call a head-they have weird hours. After reading Peter's review I decided to check this place out. I'm very glad I did. I had the fried cod, and my dining partner for the evening had the cajun style salmon. We also got an order of calimari for an appetizer. The food was amazing. I have to say I was incredibly impressed. The orderring system is a little unorthodox and the food wasn't lightning fast to arrive, but it made for a nice leisurely dinner. Also, the portions are huge and the staff is very friendly. It's in a hidden strip mall that we never knew it was there! When you walk you wait in line to order your food then you are seated. This is my dad's favorite place. I come about once a year with him- since I don't eat seafood. I order the fried chicken every time. It's good. The onion rings drive me crazy- they are made perfectly except there's no salt. And anyone who loves onion rings knows- salt doesn't stick after awhile unless they are greasy. These are not greasy, so the salt doesn't stick! My dad loves the scallops. Broccoli salad is too sweet. The pumpkin pie was decent. We stopped in last night for a late dinner at the Aloma location. I've been going here for a very long time, but was surprised last night to find out that the only fish they had available was mahi-mahi and salmon. My husband ended up choosing the mahi-mahi and declared it was just so-so. It looked quite odd as it was a fried square of fish with odd rippling in the surface, not sure what that was about. I always order the fried shrimp. Last night was definitely a bad night for them because as I bit into the shrimp, the batter fell off because it wasn't cooked properly. A miserable experience when I was expecting a spot on fried shrimp experience like I've always had. The green beans weren't available, and I ended up with mac and cheese and applesauce. The applesauce was not cold and the mac and cheese was not hot. The interior is "quaint" and the same interior as always, but it's becoming quite dated and needs a good coat of paint and clean up. I cannot stress enough how good the clam chowder is here, I got the fried shrimp sandwich with onion nuggets and veggie medley. I dipped the onion nuggets in the chowder, perfection in comfort food. My first priority is a bowl of clam chowder (as good or better than any I've ever had). We used to love going to the Sanford location, and only get by this location occasionally. Last time we attempted to eat here, they were out of cod, which is the reason I love this place. Went there for lunch and enjoyed the nice outdoor seating. Can't honestly remember what type of fish sandwich I had, only that it wasn't a fish I saw often, but I wasn't fond of it.
