This probably the best meal I had in the Hamptons/Montauk. Went in the afternoon (Fridy 330pm) as a party of 5 people. Only outside seating and full precautions in effect - masks, gloves and distancing which was reassuring. Our server was very pleasant, accommodating and checking up on us frequently to ensure satisfaction. We had a few items - stuffed clams, lobster roll (both of which are definite must-orders), chicken wings, shrimp cocktail and fish tacos. The food is well seasoned and filling. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! In one word...it's AMAZING! We have all had to pivot in different ways during COVID, especially folks in the restaurant business. This place has not only pivoted, but they haven't missed a beat! The staff is incredible, their take out system of ordering, pickup, drive through, deliver to your car, etc is a well oiled machine! The food...OMG..,yes that word again...AMAZING! I love and I mean love baked clams, these may be the best I have ever eaten! Tons of clams, loaded with flavor and not the usual "filler" that you see at other places. The hot lobster roll...A+ and the tuna poke tacos were outstanding as was the lobster bisque and coconut shrimp spring rolls. My daughter loved the chicken fingers too! I visited Bostwicks on my first night in the Hamptons and it didn't disappoint. They easily accommodated our large group and we're super friendly in offering up suggestions. Our table got oysters to share. They were shucked perfectly, no shells. I ordered the 1-1/2 lb lobster as my entree. It came with the claws already cracked so it was really easy to eat. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, so seemed pretty busy. We were able to stay in our car, they gave us a menu as we pulled in and we ordered over the phone. Food was brought right to the window. It was great actually. The food was excellent. Cold lobster roll was great, clam chowder on point and the coconut shrimp spring rolls were the best! I was underwhelmed. Look I get that "it's the Hamptons" but the prices are a little high. Anyway the food is okay, nothing special. They gave us plastic knives and forks.. for gods sake at these prices at least give us proper utensils. The service is awful. The waitress was completely rude and kept asking us if we were ready and did not help us at all. We did not even get a chance to ask her any questions because she stormed off. Stopped by yesterday for lunch with my son. Had a delicious cup of New England clam chowder and the amazing lobster salad roll. My son had the kids pasta with a side of grilled shrimp. The patio was lovely, great service. Get the key lime pie! Delicious. On our way out, we ordered a soft serve for my son and they let him make it himself - he had a blast. Service was prompt and our water glasses were never empty. We shared a shrimp cocktail (5 shrimp), a mixed greens salad, and Bostwick's baked clams. We each had a cup of the New England clam chowder which was outstanding. The best I've had. I liked the shrimp cocktail and the sauce. Nice sized shrimp and pretty fresh. Came in for a late lunch on Friday on our way home from Montauk and we were so pleased with everything we got! The two days spent in Montauk added up to a lot of money for a lot of crap meals - COVID exhaustion and lack of ingredients and slow off season and service industry burn out were in full effect. We were ready to grocery store and call it a wash till a local at the Lighthouse gift shop told us about Bostwick's. Lobster bisque was crammed with meat - full claws even! New England clam chowder was salty and creamy, baked clams were super buttery and the cold Lobster roll was tender and not overly mayo-d. The steamers are the best! The cheeseburger was overcooked and comes without lettuce and tomato, but I ate it because it was difficult to get help. I went there twice in one week and service was much worse the second time. I learned the person who buses wasn't in and it took forever for anyone to clear the plates. This is a tiny hole in the wall type spot with great outdoor seating options and great food. When we arrived the wait was 30 minutes, and unfortunately it was really one of the options available at this time (930pm). The food was great - we started with a lobster bisque (huge and delicious) - must order. We then shared a Caesar salad and chicken wings. All very good. I've heard the tacos and lobster rolls are amazing so I will get that next time. The reason why this is a 4 star and not a 5, is because the server wasn't very friendly, they don't allow dogs outside, and they don't allow strollers inside. It just feels a little too much rules for such a relaxed place. They have a sign with their rules on it when you enter which is just strange and unwelcoming. On the way to Montauk for a leisurely afternoon we passed Bostwicks and commented we never noticed it before. On the way home later in the PM we decided to stop there for dinner to check it out. We pulled into their adjoining parking lot and mosied in to check the plade out and get seated. They had outside dining but we chose to eat in the small dining room. The place was hopping with food moving in all directions and what looked like a busy take out business. Our server was a friendly gal that gave us insight into the menu. We each got a Blue Moon to wet our whistles and checked out the menu. Bon ordered the Pasta with Shrimp and I got the Fish & Chips. Bons dish was substantial with nice rather large Shrimps and a tasty garlic sauce in the pasta. My Fish & Chips was freshly made with flaky Cod in a light breading fried to perfection. The only negative to report, ironically was their famous New England Clam Chowder. I got a cup and found it to be very watery with no substance...Meh! advised the server who took it away but never offered a substitution ...disappointing as their chowders are touted as the Best and I would have liked to experience trying one. There was about a 30-minute wait for outdoor seating, but we were hungry and opted for the quicker option. The food hit the spot. As in other restaurants around the Hamptons, the oysters were solid but not particularly remarkable. The (cold) lobster roll, however, was just great--lovely bread and good filling. We also tried the Manhattan chowder, which is basically a lighter, tomato-based version of its creamier cousin from New England. The service was the real highlight. Great place for a casual family dinner. Seems like it's in a converted house, very cute. Its very cozy and gets packed so may want to come early. The staff was great everyone was super welcoming and friendly. We tried a little bit of everything and it was all fantastic. We tried the fish and chips - nice and flavorful, lobster fritters, lobster bisque, and hot butter lobster roll. Their lobster is plump, juice and delicious. I'm not normally a fan of lobster bisque but I couldn't get enough of theirs. There were nice big chunks of lobster in every bite. Also, the kids meals portions are huge. Didnt have a chance to try the food, was told there is an hour wait to be seated, so I says ok let me see a take out menu, then I was told the wait for take out will be at least two hours. Best cold lobster roll in the Hamptons by far! Their lobster portions are beyond generous and I hope that never changes though I doubt it will as they've been around since 1993. We love sitting by the bar when possible or near the fireplace. Service is always lovely and prompt but be prepared to wait for a table. The food is worth the wait. Came here with my parents and grandparents this time. Had the lobster roll hot (which comes in hot butter and on a nicely toasted hot dog bun. An abundance of mouth watering lobster . I also had the new England clam chowder which is always the highlight very flavorful and delicious, ot will keep me returning. I will be back again.
