I've lived in this area my entire life and seen smoothie shops come and go. Thankfully Botanas Locas is still here after the few years it's been successful. This is the original location, the second is located on the west side of Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach. My sister has been coming here since it first opened and I've also continued to come here since she's moved out of the Otay Mesa area. What brought me of course were the chamangos, however they have a wide selection of clamato, raspados, other cha's (chandia, chafresa, etc.). You can also build your own tostilocos using tostitos, hot cheetos, or takis as a your chip base. Before Botanas Locas opened the only spot near MOH to get a chamango was Teresita's. Teresita's chamangos are a scam, with very little chamoy, sometimes no chaca chaca, and it does not come with the straw candy for free. At Botanas Locos you can add more chamoy if needed and the chaca chaca and straw candy do not cost extra. read more

Build your own tostilocos is such a new and creative idea! I came here for the raspados, but found that they also have self serve frozen yogurt AND tostilocos. When we walked in the guy working there (who I assume is the owner) welcomed us and asked if it was our first time. Since it was, he explained everything and what they had to offer. Pretty sure this is the last time I'll be going to Botanas Locas. Not only is it far from where I live I personally think it was pricey for the amount of food we got. To start off we ordered 2 tostilocos, which they serve in a bowl (container) and not a lot fit in them. To top it off they weigh the bowl, but no where in their menu it says it would be weighed or that it's by ounces. I personally couldn't add more pepino or cuernitos or anything in that half Because otherwise they would over fill the container. I then ordered my son a small fruit salad and I believe it was $8 which is kinda a lot for the fruit we got. The fruit was melon, honeydew, pear, 3 pieces of pineapple, some banana and a few pieces of strawberries but a ton of cottage cheese. Overall, for 2 bowls of tostilocos and a small fruit salad it was an even $20. Which is not bad but it's horrible for the little amount of tostilocos wE got. Won't be recommending this place again. I'm only giving it a 2 because the tostilocos wete good but I wish more fit in the bowls or sell them in the Tosti bag they come in. read more
