We had a party of 8 people for dinner on Saturday 5/15. The service by Maria was awful. One of our group members had a bad experience with their steak. The cook was literally screaming about remaking the steak (we could hear him). The manager on duty stated that the owner would not credit the baked potato and salad that was consumed. Overall the service sucked. The 18% gratuity for Maria's poor service wasn't negotiable because it was posted on their menu. I had been a customer of Boulder Junction for years. It seems that since they opened another restaurant on the South Side of Milwaukee, the food has deteriorated. Maybe they moved the cook? Who knows. Its not as good as it used to be. Went to BJ for a family occasion. They took reservations, seated promptly, and the service was fine. I was not a big fan of the tacky taxidermy decor. If you go to BJ I recommend sticking to the grilled steaks and burgers. Several in our party had wraps and reported they were dry and unremarkable. My boyfriend said his enchilada plate was very bland. My ribs were tasty but the baked potato was dry. We ordered the happy hour margaritas and agreed they were the worst margaritas we'd ever had-looked and tasted like green dishwater, really disgusting. The meal was saved by the timely, efficient service. Also, those who stuck to the "surf and turf" selections were happy with their meals. Fried foods are fried with the scale fish - for me that's a big allergic reaction waiting to happen - not a good place for me.

Boulder has new owners, sadly, they took a well run business and are turning into just another restaurant. They used to take coupons, now very restricted, We used to eat there almost 3 days out of a week. We not will eat there again. Boulder used to have a really good fish fry. They changed their fish to something neither my dog or cat will eat. It's cheap frozen tasteless factory battered fish. They used to hand batter fish and it was an excellent product. Now, I wouldn't bother going there, We are really disappointed at how they cheapened up everything.AND the most disappointing part, they raised prices by 15% to 30%... Also they charge for extra condiments, like ranch dressing, salsa or even a little extra tartar sauce. I think $2.00 is over the top for a 2 ounce take out container of salad dressing. Also they also put an up-charge on certain soups, even if they are "soup of the day" I like the shrimp bisque, but now they charge $2 extra.even on fish fry Friday. I give them another year before they fail. They have made some bad decisions, and its a sad thing because they are less than 3 miles from our house. Oh yeah, and they changed their carpeting to a light beige. BIG MISTAKE. Now they have to clean it every two weeks. But I guess they gain that money back by charging customers more for cheapened frozen products. By the way, the wait staff is very good at what they do. But not enough to bring us back. read more

My dining experience was awful!!! This place is so over rated. The interior was gross and needs a total remodel job. I never seen such a tired restaurant. I dine here quite often. The wait staff is friendly and competent. I deceided to try the chicken kabob over rice this evening. I was real hungry. Well I guess I expected the chicken was also going to be located on the skewer too but it wasn't it was a flat pattie pan fried and cut in thin slices and laid on the rice bed with the skewered burned blackened tomatoes onions and red / green peppers. The chicken was dry and it certainly was not of a skewered quality meat portion. I will not order again and have informed them of that and am disappointed that restaurant advertised on menu an inaccurate discription of the meal. My husband and I went here on a recommendation. As soon as you walk in you can tell that the place has not been updated in quite a long time, the diorama was pretty interesting though. We were seated and served promptly and had a very friendly server, he even made my husband a cherry coke. I ordered the Aztec wrap and thought it was really good, husband had the Turkey burger and he said it was ok. We were seated in the booth area right by the bar, every so often I would get a whiff of rotten egg/nasty smell. I don't know since we were seated by the base of the bar if it was the drain or what. The bathrooms were relatively clean but could really use some maintenance. When we were leaving there were a bunch of kids on the railing enclosing the bar trying to climb it like a rock wall, very unsafe as it was at least a 10 foot drop. Staff obviously said nothing but the supervising fail of the evening goes to their coach who was just standing there egging them on. Would we go to this place again? Maybe, but I put this restaurant in the same caliber as Denny's and Perkins. Not really impressed. read more

Great place with great variety of food, very neat and original hunting lodge decor, and the bartenders are great guys that truly know what customer service is. So much in fact that I usually just eat dinner in the bar area. Food is very good quality and can get anything from a quality steak to a burger or mexican or a great sandwich. How difficult is it to put together a simple chef salad that it takes 1 hour? After seeing everyone finished with their food, mine finally arrived. We're from the Green Bay area and were in town for a couple of Brewer games. We're always looking for someplace new to try and this was our pick for the night! We were not dissappointed! We were seated immediately and our waitress came over within minutes. She (I didn't catch her name, unfortunately : ( she was great!) Was very attentive. Food was great. Our steaks were perfectly done and very tender. Mine was ordered medium well, which it was, without being burnt and my husband's was ordered medium rare, which it was, AND it was hot. Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids ages 3 & 4 yrs) ate dinner at BJ last night. My 3 yr old twins don't eat a lot so I asked that a kids meal be split and an extra drink was ordered. No problem. We even paid for 3 extra kids lemonades at $2/ea (half of adult size so not sure why the same price). The service was ok..little slow since it was starting to get busy at 5:30pm. Food was ok. We used the $5 off coupon and were shocked to say the least when an 18% gratuity was added to our bill!!! I was mad since I took the time to pick up all food that had fallen to floor (wasn't much) and even piled all napkins and silverware onto the plates to make it easier for the waitress to clean up. I only did this because I know how messy 3 little kids can be. It's my understanding that a restaurant only adds a mandatory gratuity of 18% for parties of 6 or more. We were a family of 5 with 3 small kids...not a lot to serve. Oh well...after 7 years of going there a lot we won't be back. It was only a couple dollars difference from what we would have left, BUT didn't like that I didn't have the option to leave whatever tip I wanted too! read more

I met a friend today for lunch at BJs. And, all I can say is "huh"? I have been a frequent diner at BJs for several years and have always had an enjoyable dining experience.......until today. We sat down at our table at approximately 11:55 am. We proceeded to settle in, order our meals, etc. My friend and I had not seen each other in a few months and were planning to have a leisurly lunch so we could catch up. Shortly after we were done eating and our bill arrived one of the staff approached our table. I'm not sure if he was the manager or a server. (He was not our waiter. Who, by the way, was fabulous.) He approached our table at approximately 1:00 pm. We had been at the restaurant 1 hour. He proceeded to ask us to leave our table. He said a group of women had just came in and they needed to get them seated. There was a number of open tables including a table next to us that probably seated 10-12! I would completely understand being asked to make room if the restaurant was packed but it wasn't. Also, his approach was offensive. He did not extend any sort of apology for the inconvenience. He said that he would "buy us a round of drinks at the bar." My response was that we didn't care for a round of drinks. (Keep in mind it was 1 PM on a weekday. We both needed to go back to work but had extended our lunch hour.) He than said he would buy us sodas? Buy us sodas? Seemed to be a very minimal gesture considering he was kicking us out! We were both shocked and quite disappointed that our time together was cut short in such a rude manner. I am still confused how asking two women to leave made room for a large group. We chose BJs because of its "fine dining" atmosphere. The cost for our lunch was not minimal and expected better service than what we received. Quite frankly, we would have been treated better at Applebees! Or, we could have gone to McDonalds. I'm positive they wouldn't have asked us to leave! And, we could have ordered off of the dollar menu and had free WI FI. Truly a disappointment. They lost a long time customer who has introduced several people to their restaurant. read more
