Came here for our family's anniversary and we had such a wonderful time! Thank you to all of the AMAZING servers who made sure we had a memorable night!!! No wine glass was left empty throughout the night. All the servers were very attentive and accommodating. We were large party, but they made sure everyone was taken care of. We sat in the outdoor patio and loved the ambiance with the lights during the sunset. We brought our karaoke and sang throughout the night. Loved that the servers joined us as well. Food was excellent, of course! We loved all of the appetizers (chicken skin, octopus, spinach dip). For them main dish, we got the arugula salad, braised pork cheeks and swordfish and they were all so delicious! Will definitely come back here!

After a decades absence I finally made my return to Boulevard Bistro. FYI dogs are allowed in the outdoor patio even though Yelp says "no dogs". Service is still top notch and the warm brie appetizer with kumquat preserves is crave worthy. Everything was great but we were slightly disappointed in our entrees both the salmon and duck confit were not as crispy as we would have liked. In addition my vegetables were overcooked. Overall this is still one of the best restaurants in the Sacramento area.

My husband took me here to celebrate our 4th year wedding anniversary. It was a very cozy and small restaurant. Food was very tasty! We were seated and usually server/waiters will ask if we're celebrating anything special or have any dietary restrictions, but ours didn't. Note, they only do something special for birthdays but not anniversaries here. Bummer. We ordered the thyme and thyme again drink, the octopus, mushroom cream soup, ribeye for two (comes with peppercorn sauce, fingerling potatoes and broccoli). For dessert, we tried the banana cheesecake. The thyme and thyme again drink was very delicious! Light hint of thyme and very fragrant peach! Highly recommend! The octopus appetizer was ok, I could do without. It was basically like escargot but with octopus. A bit bland and octopus had a hint of fishiness. Mushroom cream soup was not on the menu as it was a special item and it was delicious with the croutons! Very flavorful and I like that they split the soup for us since we were sharing. We also ordered the ribeye for 2 and it was one of the special items. We got medium rare and it was cooked to perfection! Very tasty! We also asked if they could do fries instead of fingerling potatoes and they were able to do it for us! For dessert, we opted for the banana cheesecake and I must say it was underwhelming, the cheesecake was a bit too salty, the banana was not overpowering. It would been nice if there was more of the meringue. Overall delicious food! The complimentary bread was so tasty that we got seconds. The second server, Messiah, was excellent! He was very attentive and asked us if we wanted more bread and water without us flagging him down.

I took my daughter to dinner here last night for birthday (she picked the place) and it was perfection. I had the salmon and she had the beef. They were both delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection and probably the best salmon I've had in many years. My daughter ordered beef and loved her meal also. The service was also great. Try this place- you will not be disappointed.

Love this place! This place is a hidden gem in Elk Grove. Every time I've gone they have had really great food and service. It's a smaller restaurant so you definitely need to make reservations.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday last night and had an amazing experience. Aidan was our server and the service was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and he really made the night feel special. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor. Their filet mignon melts in your mouth and is the best I have ever had. It beats any filet you would find at a high end steakhouse. The wine is very reasonably priced. We shared a bottle of the Christopher Cellars winemaker select red. Their winery is right down the road. Boulevard Bistro only seats 30 so expect a small intimate setting. It is a cottage that has been converted into a restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for delicious food and exceptional service. They offer the birthday person a free dessert and we noticed that there were several birthdays that evening. We will definitely be back!

This cute unpretentious restaurant is easily missed as you drive along Elk Grove Boulevard but it is the Boulevard's Bistro leaving nothing to be desired. We didn't have reservations so they were kind enough to seat us at the bar. Cali made us delicious mocktails and served us some focaccia bread (made in house daily). We had three trays.... Need I say more. Next we had the oven baked brie as an appetizer, a wedge salad, the salmon and filet mignon (medium). I've never had salmon seared as perfectly as this. And the filet was cooked a perfect medium and literally melted in my mouth. Everything was just delicious, fresh and just perfect. My husband commented that it took him back to a really special culinary experience we had at a chef's table on a cruise we went on during our honeymoon (but I genuinely think this was better). I think this is Elk Grove's best kept secret... well maybe it's not a secret but I feel like it was a secret to me until tonight. I have lived in the area my entire life and never knew this place has been here 20 years!! The staff was friendly, down to earth and very warm. Cali was a sweetheart and kept us company. Aden, our server shared with us some history about the family who owns the restaurant and was very pleasant to talk with. Another gentleman shared some information about the dishes we were enjoying. We will definitely be back and bring friends!!

We came here to celebrate birthday...... I love how this place is tiny and so cozy with all the wonderful staffs especially Aiden and his fiancée went above and beyond to decorate our table nice and made it so pretty. The food is so good, even their complimentary bread is good. Their service are outstanding! I will be back

My man surprised me by taking me here on a date night. When driving up, we totally thought we were not in the right area, since it was a housing area (the restaurant is literally a renovated home). It is quaint, inviting, and uber romantic. We absolutely splurged here, as this is the place to do it. The quality here is unparalleled, and rivals the type of food you would get in San Francisco at a fine dining restaurant. I felt like we ordered a little of everything (oysters, mushroom mousse, halibut, and fruit cobbler), and it all was so delectable, we were practically moaning at the table while eating. We asked to split the fish dinner, and they served it to us already split, which was that little extra step we appreciated. People next to us ended up ordering what we got, which was hilarious. Let me say the topping to the cobbler is unlike anything I have tasted, it made me wonder what it was made of, since there was such a flavor of vanilla but maybe it was done with almond flour or something different--it was just incredible. I go a decaf coffee with dessert, and it was the best decaf I have ever had...EVER. Everything is done to perfection and there is literally nothing I would say that would make anything better--unless they could serve this to me in bed LOL. Jokes aside, every plate is not just food, it is passion served to you on a plate. No detail goes unnoticed. This is THE place to go for a romantic night out in Elk Grove (or the entire Central Valley for that matter)!

Still one of my favorite spots! Always great food and great service. Does not matter who takes care of you, all the staff are always super nice and friendly. The restaurant is perfect for couples or bigger groups, just an over all great place.

    Are children allowed?

Of course, but you should prepare them to be on their best behavior.

    Is there a dress code?

Not a sweat pants and ripped jean place. Date night or business casual is more the vibe here

    Open for dine in yet?

No, we made reservations online since the booking system was still open so we assumed that meant they were open. We showed up today 8/25/20 and it was closed.

How do we make a reservation?

    Call the restaurant.

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes but it's a small narrow restaurant so I wouldn't advise going during prime time.

How is the parking here? I am not sure where the parking is located. Is it safe for expensive…

Parking is behind the restaurant. There's a designated lot, plenty big, very safe.

Is there an outdoor seating area?

    No there is not

Do people usually dress up for this restaurant?

You will find people dressed from casual to dressy. You won't be out of place if you wear a nice dress or jeans. If it is a special occasion or you want to dress up for dinner, that would be fine. Expect to pay $80 to $120 for dinner for two.

    Do I need a reservation?

    Yes!

    Any vegan options available?

Call ahead the Chef is willing to work with dietary restrictions.

It's hot today and I'm wearing shorts. Do I need to change? Are shorts appropriate?

You'll be fine. Please come in

It seems like a tough crowd--but after my visit, I can see why expectations run high. My cheeseburger featured high-quality, freshly ground beef that was well-seasoned with a flavorful, salty crust. The patty was tender and juicy, exactly what you want from a handcrafted burger. The brioche bun was nicely toasted, and the cheese melted perfectly over the patties--both essential details that elevate a great cheeseburger. The burger was simply but thoughtfully assembled with shredded lettuce, sliced onion, pickles, and Butcher's aioli. Their house-made sauce added a nice depth of flavor without overpowering the beef. I appreciated how they kept the toppings classic and balanced--fresh, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, red onion, and tangy pickles complement the richness of the patty and sauce beautifully. The fries were just as impressive. They had that ideal contrast: an ultra-crispy, golden-brown exterior with a light, fluffy interior. Perfectly seasoned, pleasantly salty, not greasy, and sturdy enough to hold their shape--they checked all the boxes. Overall, they hit all the key elements of a truly great handcrafted cheeseburger and fries. High marks from me.

On Sundays, they offer a prime rib special, which I was looking forward to trying. The prime rib was absolutely delicious--tender and seasoned very well. While the quality was good, the value simply didn't measure up to what I would expect at this price point, especially when compared with other restaurants of a similar caliber, such as Bennett's American Cooking. Would I go back? Probably, but not for a while. In today's economy, when dining at a nice restaurant can easily cost $75-$100 or more per person, I expect the overall experience--including the portion size and value--to match the amount I'm willing to spend.

Such a fun friendly vibe in the bar area when we walked in and were told to pick any open table. Quickly reviewed the drink menu and we're thrilled to find 7 mocktails! I got the prickly pear mint smash and it was wonderful! We asked if splitting an appetizer and one sandwich would be enough for two people and our server Carmen confirmed it would be. We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer and the garlic steak sandwich with onion rings. Y'all, the food was AMAZING! the Brussels sprouts were so savory and delicious! I've never had blue cheese in the mix and wow was it scrumptious!! Lots of bacon, balsamic glaze, and finished with truffle oil! A huge serving as well. Next came the steak sandwich. Hands down the best steak sandwich I've ever had. It's made with Wagyu beef, and heaps of sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheese and arugula. So garlicky, juicy and tender meat. We could not finish it even though we split it. Just unbelievably delicious! We were going to ask for the check but then our server Carmen said: "Fresh churros and ice cream?" Who says no to that? Not us. The churros arrive. 10 or so mini churros, covered in cinnamon sugar, drizzled with caramel sauce, pipping hot and a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream, and then Carmen says " they are filled with Dulce de leche!" They were just scrumptious beyond belief. Lots of friendly folks, an amazing friendly server, and fantastic food we got super quick. I can't wait to go back. Also all was very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of the food.

It was a nice surprise to see a hand written "Congratulations and Happy Anniversary" card. A complimentary treat of Focaccia bread with avocado and kimchi was given as well as a glass of champagne for the both of us. Our waiter was helpful, offering his opinion on what wine to take. We went for whatever he suggested for white (for her) and red (for me). Both were good picks. Our dinner started with toasted focaccia bread. She ordered a Caesar salad also. The appetizer was 3 large slices of bread with stracciatella and pear compote. The bread was light and buttery. The stracciatella was good blending well with the bread. The Caesar salad was a big serving. Tasty and simple, nothing special. Our main entree was filet mignon for my wife and wagyu rib eye for me, both medium rare. The filet was topped with garlic confit and I added chimichurri to my ribeye. The plating was simple, the protein with the side and roasted garlic. We also added smashed potatoes to share. Our first bite was the meat itself with no dressing. I can taste why the steak was priced that way. It just melted in my mouth and left a nice smooth aftertaste. We exchanged bites, she felt the same way and I agreed that her filet was perfect. After adding the roasted garlic and chimichurri, the slices were heavenly. The surprise for me was the smashed potatoes. First time trying this dish and I was impressed. The crispness of the skin was a nice surprise. The butter and garlic added another layer of flavor. Between the awkward service and 1.5+ hour wait for food, this celebration didn't go the way we'd hoped. We had a 6:30 reservation for a party of 7 to celebrate my engagement with family visiting from out of town. We placed our order right away but didn't receive our food until after 8pm. To make matters worse, one plate was missing entirely, and that guest had to wait an additional 20 minutes for it to arrive. The server was apologetic about the wait and offered to comp our desserts as a gesture of goodwill, which we appreciated. When the final plate arrived, we were quietly discussing the $3 avocado upcharge among ourselves, since the tacos came with barely a sliver of avocado. The server apparently overheard us, because she returned moments later, silently set down a small plate with extra avocado next to our food, and walked away without a word. The gesture felt pointed rather than helpful, and it left the table feeling uneasy. The food and drinks themselves were decent. But by 8:45, we didn't want to wait even longer for the comped desserts, so I asked if we could have our drinks comped instead, since a couple of the cocktails were priced similarly to the desserts (which ran up to $16). The server seemed uncomfortable and said she could only comp two desserts, offering 10% off the bill instead. This wasn't what had been discussed earlier, but at that point we just wanted to wrap up the night, especially since my parents had a long drive ahead. Given the service, we'd quietly decided as a table not to leave an additional tip, only to find a 20% automatic service charge already added for large parties. This came as a surprise since it wasn't disclosed anywhere on the menu. It's a shame, because it's genuinely a charming space. Unfortunately, the service that night fell short, and it really affected what should have been a special evening.

5/5 experience this time. It's a great place for a date, dinner amongst friends, and dining solo at the bar. I actually think it's a great spot for a martini / cocktail and some oysters before you go somewhere else. I come here a lot for a off menu cheeseburger, and it's solid (4/5) The focaccia was superb. Had that balance of crispness with being fluffy and light. Comes with a balsamic and olive oil dressing but that is superfluous IMO. The oysters were fine. I wish they sourced from around here vs BC. You get some nice oils to add to them on the side. The peppers were such a delightful and tasty snack especially with the Caesar. The seasonal greens were a great accompaniment to the whole chicken. The chicken had this awesome curry flavor to it. I believe it was Malaysian based. It was perfectly moist with a well seasoned and crispy-ish crust. Not pictured, but we also had the pole beans which were seasoned in a tamarind sauce and with Chinese sausage which I think added to the flavor profile of the chicken. Definitely $$$$ with cocktails but it's a great move with the chase sapphire benefit (IYKYK)

A nice, quaint location for a Bib Gourmand restaurant. We went for a birthday dinner and had a…read morepleasant experience. Love the family/tapas-style way of serving, and I always enjoy a restaurant with a limited menu. Started off with a glass of Pinot, while my fiancé enjoyed a non-alcoholic Citrus Shrub Soda with notes of guava and peach. From the quick bites menu, we ordered the Caponata Focaccia, Tots with mole sauce, and the roasted Japanese sweet potato with cheese whiz. Service was good, and I loved the lighting and open kitchen concept. Food came out fast, with the focaccia first, paired with a peach and olive oil dip reminiscent of the balsamic and olive oil you'd get at an Italian restaurant. Texture was stellar -- fluffy inside, crunchy outside -- though a bit too oily for my taste. The tots with mole sauce were the definite highlight: crunchy outside, pillowy inside, and the mole, pepitas, pickled onion, and cotija made it a standout dish. The Japanese sweet potato was just okay -- the cheese whiz was a nice touch, but the texture was a bit off and some pieces were slightly burnt, adding an unwanted bitter bite. For entrées, we tried the "off-menu" burger I'd seen hyped in other Yelp reviews (decent, but honestly a bit overhyped) and the grilled pork rib cap, which was another hit -- amazingly tender, paired with a balsamic cherry jus, and a generous portion size. Overall, this was a meal with no real complaints, but also not one I'd rave about. For the price, there are better choices out there, but for a special occasion or group outing, it's an upscale spot with a kitchen team that clearly knows how to build flavor and texture.
