A very swanky sushi restaurant in Elk Grove! The menu here is very extensive and the ambiance and decor is amazing. The staff are all very helpful and sweet, special shout out to Terrance! Alex, the owner/manager was extremely helpful to us in planning our grandmother's 99th birthday here. For a party of 60+, they were extremely accommodating and the venue and food made it such a special celebration. They even brought out an extra dish of cooked salmon over rice for the birthday girl, because they heard she's a fan of that. We have tried a lot of their food and everything is delicious. The only things that are just okay are the chicken karaage and the gyoza. They have amazing udon broth and the fish quality on all items is very high. The rolls are more Americanized and come with sauces and frills, but everything is well balanced and delicious! Everyone was impressed by the look of the spread as well as the flavor. Our friends and family demolished everything! We also had a few plates of sashimi and a few appetizers that were also all delicious. We had such a beautiful experience overall--the food was absolutely incredible, and the presentation was next-level. there was one detail that really took away from what could have been a perfect evening. There's a designated "room," but without a door, it doesn't quite function as one. Unfortunately, the noise from the group inside carried throughout the space and disrupted the ambiance we were really hoping to enjoy. With how stunning the atmosphere and dining experience is, adding doors--or even creating more enclosed, private dining areas--would elevate this place tremendously. It would give guests the option for a more intimate, comfortable, and immersive experience, especially for special occasions. This is truly a place with so much potential to be flawless, and a small change like this could make a huge impact. I've driven by this place multiple times wanting to stop by to try Raw Sushi Bar and finally got the chance to try it for my Aunt's 99th Birthday celebration! It's a huge beautiful restaurant and bar with a very open air concept! This use to be an event center for weddings, receptions and parties and there is plenty of room for an After Hours Club too! We decided on dinner at Raw to try a few happy hour dishes since happy hour was a night with the Dine Elk Grove check-in pass. We tried several happy hour dishes and shared the chicken katsu entree, of which we ended taking most home with all the food we ordered. Our HH choices were fried gyoza, yellowtail razor, albacore carpaccio, the spicy (raw) salmon roll and California roll. Everything was delicious and very fresh. I especially loved the California Roll. The service was great, and we were so comfortable, with the great atmosphere in the restaurant that we stayed till the end of the dinner hour. We only noticed because they started stacking the chair on the table around us. We really enjoyed the evening and will be back again. My husband and I took our aunt here to celebrate her belated birthday. We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday and it wasn't very busy. There was a mixup with the server so it took really long for someone to assist us. After placing order, food arrived shortly after. So we've talked to someone onsite and received a text that we were all set for my parents 41st wedding anniversary dinner..... but then we showed up and they were closed for Memorial Day. And being closed is okay! But why talk to us on the phone and text us? To top it off, we came from out of town for this dinner and we saw 5 other parties come for their reservations and no one told them that the restaurant was closed either. A beer, Lycheetini (so good), albacore carpaccio, yellowtail/pepper fin razor, spicy tuna hand roll and spicy salmon hand roll. I couldn't tell the difference from the sushi because it all looked the same. I love shishito peppers and thought they were undercooked. One thing I noticed that I had never seen before was slices of tomato on the sushi. Presentation was ok and the taste was just ok to me. I also thought the tap water served tasted odd. We were set promptly by a window and our order was taken for drinks. I ordered the Lychee Martini, which was very light in spirits. I've been a fan of RAW Sushi since their early days in Modesto and Stockton, so I was thrilled when they opened an upscale version in Elk Grove. My family and I have always enjoyed their rolls -- the quality is consistently excellent, and everything tastes fresh. This location is noticeably larger and a bit pricier than the others, which makes sense given the more elevated atmosphere. There's even a section that can accommodate large private parties -- great for celebrations. I usually visit during off-peak hours, but the place tends to get busy on weekends, so reservations are definitely recommended. We often stick to our go-to dishes because they never disappoint. Our favorites: BTS Roll - our top pick and a must-try specialty roll. Dante's Inferno Roll - love the battered tempura jalapeños. SCS Roll - features crispy tempura asparagus. RAW as opened for a while, and we don't have a real reason to go there, until today after our Costco grocery and we noticed the Mega Salamence with still over 30 minutes on the timer. Off we drove there and the gym was right in front of RAW. Since we have to do two rounds of raids we might as well get some take out! When entered there is a conceige like reception area. One side is the spa and the other side is the restaurant. It was flu season and I was wearing a mask, and the place still reek with those nail polish / alcohol smell. Not a fan of that smell honestly. Anyway the reception/server is dressed up and super sweet and nice. She showed me the menu and help me to place the order quickly. She said she would bring me the food and I told her I will be outside (omitting the part I am here mostly for the Pokemon raid like a nerd). Food was well packaged and ready quickly. We went home and unload the grocery before we even get the time to eat. We got the chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu. Both are super good and if we had to pick one we preferred the katsu! The katsu just taste good and right. There isn't that many places with good katsu in Elk Grove, and we both agreed this is the top on our list (yes! #1!). The teriyaki chicken taste good too. The vegetable is crispy and flavor is good. If I had to be picky it is the chicken meat a bit tough. It is grilled before stir fry. They did use the correct meat cut (dark meat) already. The salad is also super fresh and crisps. I love that sweet salad dressing as it pairs well with the relatively bitter veggies option. Service wise it is easy one of the best places in Elk Grove. We didn't dine in but our short interaction was awesome. Location wise also good. Plenty of parking as it is used to be a banquet hall. Plus extra bonus with the Pokemon gym there! Food as I have already said it is one of the best in Elk Grove. We didn't try sushi which was their specialty, but we just don't feel comfortable ordering sushi to go. Price is a little steep, but it probably justified by the service and food. We didn't dine inside and I bet the ambience will also give points on the pricing. We think we will just do to go though. Main reason was that smell from next door. I am 100% not into smelling that. Even if you could not smell it, the chemical might still be in the air. Let alone I could smell it so strong even with the mask on. Basically it's like cheap salon chemical smell. Nicer polished don't have a strong smell even though chemical in the air. Not a fan. We will return, strightly to go, definitely for katsu and more Pokemon raids (especially after they install those new cell phone towers). read more

Made reservations for a family of 8, 7 adults and one toddler. The place is nice and clean! It was our second time here. When entering there's a salon to the right that I'm excited to try out. But the sitting area of the place is great, we usually book for the dinner and they open the blinds to see the sunset. The waitresses have been absolutely wonderful as well as the host. The spicy edamame, salmon bomb, karrage, mixed tempura, oyster shot, and tuna ceviche are all great appetizers. For the entree last time we were there we got the Dante's Inferno, roadkill and BTS. Dante's inferno came with tempura jalapeños and it was delicious! I'd recommend it to everyone. This time around we got a lot of different items. Mixed sashimi, sashimi & nigiri, beef teriyaki, roadkill again, and tried out the Gamble roll. The gamble roll is so worth it. I won't spoil it but if you can, I say do it, don't question it ‍ came with the poker chip and it was such a cute token, has their number and business name with a QR code. read more

We had to wait a few minutes as they got a table ready. We had a lovely waitress who was super attentive, and we were even more excited to have her as it was her birthday. We laughed with her each time she came to our table to check on us. The food was very good overall - I will apologize now, I cannot for the life of me remember the names of the rolls we got. The one call out was that two of the rolls, because the other two had a sauce either on them or in them, were a bit dry in comparison to the others. All of them had fresh ingredients, were made aesthetically pleasing, and each individual had their own favorite roll. I would definitely go back and try some of the other items they had. read more

One drink took about 20 minutes to get even though it was very slow. We were unable to put in more food orders until about 20 minutes after we ordered appetizers because the waiter didn't come back. The bartender was chatting with someone at the bar instead of making drinks. Unfortunately, 18% gratuity was mandatory for a table of 6, so the waiter apparently did not have incentive to provide attentive service. Came here on Friday evening with hubby. We arrived at 5:45pm and waited a good 5 minutes at the hostess table without a hostess. There was a couple in front of us and a couple behind us. A bit later, two hostesses took our names and seated reservations first (no issues there) and we waited another 10 minutes to be called. When we got seated, we were surprised that it there was plenty of seating where everyone in the lobby could have had a table. Our server took our drinks and appetizer order quickly and they also arrived quickly. However, our rolls did not have the same efficiency. A runner tried to give us the next table's order of rolls (we hadn't even ordered yet). After we did order, our cocktails were depleted, and another table that was seated after us got all of their rolls before us. Apparently they felt so bad that they asked a runner where our food was (first time for me). Our server did bring our rolls and did apologize for the delay saying that she cannot control the order of how things come out of the kitchen. From being seated to getting our Appetizers at 6:15pm and then our entree rolls at 6:55pm and 7pm (time stamps from photos) it's one of the largest gaps I've experienced. I stopped by Raw Sushi Bar Lounge for dinner with a friend for a celebratory dinner and came at about 5:30pm on a Monday. It's in a little business area between Elk Grove Blvd and Civic Center Drive and is located right next to Verona Nail Lounge Lash and Spa. There is plenty of parking in the lot and there's a very cool logo sign that you walk under to get into the lobby. Once you're inside, there's a large lobby with seating. In the middle is a check in station, though other than a board with specials written on it, there's no real indication that you need to stand over there to check in and reserve a table. I feel like more signage that indicates the station in the middle belongs to the restaurant and not the spa or that it's just a lobby area would be helpful. Now we know though. We didn't need to wait too long before we were walked back to a table, maybe 5-10 minutes. The restaurant has a large and beautiful bar, booth seating, table seating and sushi bar seating. We ended up at a four top near the sushi bar. The ambiance was modern and upscale and it's a great choice for a date or celebration. We we happily surprised to realize we ended up here during happy hour. The happy hour menu has some great options and we took advantage and ordered Chicken Karaage ($10.50 reg, 30% off HH), Dante's Inferno Appetizer ($21.95 reg, 30% off HH), spicy hand rolls, ($9.95/each reg, $6.95/each HH), and spicy negi hama hand rolls ($9.95/each reg, $6.95/each HH). Out of the appetizers the Dante's Inferno Appetizer was out favorite. It's named after the owner and is like sushi version of a jalapeno popper- lots of flavor and a bit of heat. There's also a sushi roll with the same name that we were told is also very popular. The happy hour price on the hand rolls was great and the fish was fresh. The karaage was good, but now knowing the other options I wouldn't order it again. But it's a great option for a dining guest looking for something other than fish. For rolls we ordered the Crunch Time ($27.95), the Lomi Lomi Roll ($21.50), Crunchy Rainbow Roll ($22.95), and Philadelphia Roll ($19.95). We wanted to try a variety since it was out first visit and we opted for some that were simpler and some that would be a bit more complicated. The Crunch Time was our favorite of the rolls we ordered, it was topped with assorted fresh fish, scallion, jalepeno, tempura bits, tobiko, sauces and had tempura shrimp and spicy tuna inside and tempura lemon on the side. This was very flavorful and the tempura lemon was a really unique addition. The Lomi Lomi Roll has avocado and cucumber inside and is topped with fresh salmon, red onion, chili oil and ponzu. I was a bit underwhelmed by this one and expected a bit more heat from the chili oil. The Crunchy Rainbow Roll is a newer item, it has tempura shrimp and avocado inside and is topped with assorted fish, green onions, tobiko, tempura bits and sauce. This was tasty, but I think I prefer a traditional Rainbow Roll with the california roll filling. The Philadelphia Roll was my least favorite, it's the regular cream cheese, cucumber, and avocado inside with smoked salmon on top. For $19.95 it just doesn't seem like it belongs amongst the other rolls in this range. Maybe at $14 it would match a bit more, in my opinion. We also ordered hot tea with our meal and I was surprised when we were brought glasses with tea bags and not a pot of tea. This wasn't a bad thing, just surprising. The cups were really cute and they refilled my cup with hot water during the meal. Our server was friendly and attentive, our waters were filled throughout the meal, and as I mentioned our hot water was topped off in our tea. She also answered our questions as we were ordering and checked on us frequently. We both took home leftovers from this experience and we're excited to enjoy them. I would definitely visit again and now that I've explored the menu I would know how to order better. My friends and I came here on a weeknight for the first time and were treated so well by our waitress. We ordered our food and the majority of our food came out quickly and was delicious! My Sashimi mix app was bright and very clean. The Spicy Salmon Hand roll was my favorite, the perfect amount of spicy! Our drinks were also very cute and refreshing. Chill vibes, great cocktails, friendly service, and creative rolls. That sums up RAW in one sentence! We've been here a few times now, and everything has always been absolutely top notch. If you're looking for a quiet sushi place, this ain't it, as it has almost a sports bar vibe with its large open space, huge lit up bar, and multiple TVs. The staff has always been super accommodating and friendly, and are always down to chat about food or drink recommendations. I actually discovered a great whiskey here the first time I came around! While there are probably dedicated mixologists during the weekends, we always come during the week when often our server will be the one making the making the drinks. It's hard enough to wait on tables, but making great, attractive looking cocktails is something else, and so far the servers here have done both with ease. In fact, I dare say that tonight our server made one of the best Whiskey Smashes i've ever had! We've had good appetizers, but the spicy garlic edamame really stands out. Very few sushi places use a proper sauce with their edamame, but RAW doesn't skimp on it! They don't skimp on their sushi rolls either. We've never not liked something that we've ordered, but I can stand by practically everything on the Special Roll menu. Yes, you will pay quite a bit for these, as they all tend to run around $25. But they're also all incredibly good. A standout for me is the Tuna Steak roll, which was my first experience with both tomato and asparagus on a sushi roll. It was basically a dinner plate made into sushi and it tasted incredible. It was a bit drafty inside but our waiter was able to turn off the air vent which helped and was much appreciated. It's also quite loud inside so keep that in mind for what type of vibe you want for a meal. We got a little of everything: spicy salmon roll, keeping it raw roll, chicken katsu entree, and sashimi mix. Both of the rolls were solid. The katsu was sort of mediocre, not very crispy or anything which I would have wanted. I did really like the sashimi mix though! It comes with 15 total pieces of fish--3 each of salmon, maguro, toro, and 2 others that i didn't remember. The toro was easily my favorite, so fatty and richly flavorful. It was located in a medical plaza, with nothing much around, but you check-in in a massive lobby and the host takes you inside where the restaurant is decorated like a club. The only thing odd about the interior is that half the room looked like a sit down sushi restaurant where the other half was like a night club with semi circle booths. I wish it was just one or the other. The food was delicious. The portions were great and the flavors were unique. The salmon bomb appetizer is a must-try, as well as the lycheetini. Both were my favorites. The classic simple rolls were not as special, so I would definitely recommend ordering their specialty rolls.
