I felt the food was ok. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. The wait staff on the other hand was the worst part of our experience. We asked for a table for 7 which apparently was a big deal to them (we had no idea of the size of their restaurant) and they tried to discourage us from going by telling us they couldn't push tables together. No big deal to me so we got ok the list. As we walk up to our table they are actually pushing apart three tables and when my mother in laws asks if we could just have them together they responded "no because then every customer would want to push them together." Ok fine no big deal. The waiters there knew nothing out being polite and in general every one of them looked pissed off to be at work. Other groups were complaining so at least I knew I wasn't just being biased based on my interaction with them up front. WOW! Luck of the Irish on St. Patrick's Day! We were going to go the higher Yelp! rated place across the street but it looked deserted so we came here. Ordered the stuffed portabello shrooms which were excellent! The two gluten free ladies in the family ordered a reuben and philly steak and cheese. Us guys had the burger and reuben on bread. All were excellent and Eric, our waiter was very knowledgeable on the food, beer, and local stuff. Too much food to save room for dessert but menu was enticing... HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This was my first time visiting Bradden's and it was very busy as it can be during the summer on Main street, I decided to get the half pound burger (extra 55 cents for cheese) and the side salad (which I wanted first before the meal, didn't happen.) also ordered by a friend was the french dip. I was not at all impressed by our server who was not attentive at all, he gave a refill of iced tea to my friend, never came back to refill my water until I asked him. We waited a very long time for just a burger and french dip, the people next to us came in after we did, sat down and got their food right away. I don't understand. I was very irritated by the lack of service. All of the food was delicious, I admit, once we got it. I had to go to the bar myself and get extra napkins! That's so bad. We waited a long time too just to get the check and pay as well. Service to me is just as important as the food. I don't know if I'd come back again. There are plenty of great places on Main St. after all. read more

A very quaint setting in old town St Charles. I opted for a simple beef brisket sandwich (open face), but there were several other, more sophisticated choices available on the menu (fillet, tilapia, etc). The sauce on the brisket sandwich was made on site, and quite tasty. They had some great homemade dessert options. I chose the coconut cream pie; it was outstanding. So very disappointed. We arrived about 5PM for dinner on a Saturday, after the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Maybe the staff had a little of the green beer? Service was terrible. Husband had two beers while we waited 45 minutes for our order. I had a sample of wine that was disgusting. It was obvious they had rinsed the glass out in cleanser and poured the wine in. After waiting and waiting I finally told my husband that I was leaving and going next door. He cleared the bill and told me the waiter blamed the kitchen. She brought our food out at such staggered times, I wondered if she got lost. When she brought the last person their food, there was no side on the plate. This is a great little place in the heart of Old St. Charles. It looks as though it used to be a family home and you really do get the feeling of being in a nice cozy cottage when you walk in. When you walk in the front door there is a little bar immediately to your right and to the left is the first of two dinning rooms with a doorway to the second. We were sat in the rear dining room which has a large fire place and made for a great atmosphere. There is also an outdoor seating are but this was closed for the winter. I had the burger. There was nothing outstanding about it but it was a good burger. It was nice and thick and cooked medium-rare just like I asked. It came fully dressed with bacon and a bbq sauce drizzled over it. I never had to ask for a refill and the server was extremely attentive. All and all it was a great little place. read more

Worst experience ever. On Christmas Eve my family ate at Bradden's for lunch. Here is what happened... - Owner sat us as a table. We waited about 5 minutes when the server said "I'm sorry I don't know who sat you here but you are going to have to wait for another table to open up." Then the owner said "ya you shouldn't have sat yourselves." The owner sat us!!! - We finally sat at another table and took another 5 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us. - Waitress dumped an entire beer in my lap. I was soaked from my shirt to my shoes. It took me complaining for them to bring a mop. The entire time the owner walked by our table a dozen times probably...and she never said anything. Not a sorry. Nothing. - Wife and I both ordered a chicken wrap. One tiny piece of chicken. Mostly lettuce in the wrap. - Then my son spilled his soda all over the table. I had to walk around the restaurant asking for people to help. It took over 5 minutes to finally get the attention of someone..despite the owner walking by many times and ignoring my requests for help. A simple apology goes a long way. The waitress did not charge us for a beer. But I was sticky for the rest of the day and smelled like beer. And my shoes are ruined. But never, ever did the owner apologize. She is not someone who cares about her customers. read more

Wow on food and service! This is our 11th consecutive year spending a night in St Charles on our way to friends in IL, and our first time at Bradden's. We'll definitely be back! Craig was our waiter and was just awesome. I have food allergies and he said the chef would fix things any way I wanted and she(the chef) did. I had the baked spaghetti without cheese and my wife had the filet. We always share and both agreed it was the best filet we'd ever had. Craig is a beer guru and they carry a few great local brews. He also sent me to a close by liquor store to pick world class beers. read more

Bradden's was recommended to me. I took my best friend there on Friday, June 2 for her birthday. It's always a challenge for me on my friend's birthday because she always wants to be surprised and wants it to be a place she has never been before. We have been friends for almost 20 years so it gets harder and harder each year to do both. Braddens did not disappoint either one of us. Our reservation was for 11:30 am we were a few minutes late become of parking. We got seated at our table immediately. Our waiter, sorry, don't remember his name, was very friendly, very knowledge about the specials, and overall did an exceptional job. My friend and I both got a wrap with a salad. The food was very good. The waiter told us that he had enjoyed waiting on us and hoped we would be back soon. My birthday is next Friday and we plan to have my birthday lunch there also. read more

Shop owner down the road recommended Braddens for a quick & delicious lunch & it didn't disappoint. The guy working the bar was super chill. I got a 1/2 BLT with a 1/2 salad. It was quick & delicious. Favorites- the wheat bread. I don't know- i'm a bread person & it was just really good. Also, Beyond Scared Straight was on the TV & that's actually really great lol (insert hysterically laughing emoji here). I have eaten here literally dozens of times. Today was my last. I ordered the Cobb salad. After it was brought to our table, I noticed the avocado looked dark, slimy and very unappetizing. My wife sampled it and immediately had to spit it into a napkin as it was soured and rancid. I waived our server to our table and informed him. He took away my salad. He brought the exact same salad back to me with a side dish of identical looking avocado on it. These were also rancid, sour and spoiled. I said nothing. Without asking how my salad was, our server took away my virtually untouched salad when I asked for my check. When he took away my salad I asked him "aren't you going to ask me how my salad was?" He said "no. I see you didn't eat it". I told him the avocado was spoiled. The manager came over to our table. She said the avocado was not spoiled. She went on to explain that all the avocados they have are this way and no one has ever returned one. I paid my bill and left. We were very displeased with not only the food quality but the poor customer service and lack of minimally acceptable training of staff. We will not be back. This is unfortunate, as we have been here dozens of times. read more

After reading the menu on the door, my daughter & I decided to try Braddens. On our way in a women asked us if we'd ever eaten there; when we said no she proclaimed "oh, it's great, you have to try the reuben sandwich, it's great". After we sat down, while waiting at restroom door, another lady said " you have to try the reuben!" So, even though I was going to have the spinach salad, I had the reuben. It was AMAZING! I have had reuben sandwiches at many different places & this was by far the best. My daughter had the spinach salad, which she enjoyed. The menu had several things I'd like to try. After 25 minutes I still had not received my plate and told the waitress to cancel my food. On the way out the door I asked to speak to the manager and the owner came out only to say that she was sorry and would talk to the waitress.
