I had Chance and Tracy arrive on time. Originally, Chance told me that I needed my furnace pulled out and positioned on a tilt to help the water drain properly. The quote was 2500.00. When Chance returned, Chance double checked the problem and he found out that the issue was a heating pipe that was installed incorrectly so the water couldn't drain properly. Instead of charging me 2500.00, Chance crawled behind a very tight and dirty staircase and fixed the problem. He only charged me 235.00. Chance and Tracy could have completely ripped me off because I didn't observe their work. The company is reliable and honest. I may add that before Chance and Tracy, I had 2 other repairman attempt to fix my heater and they couldn't fix it. * read more

Woke up with no hot water. Called Bragg at 9am. The dispatcher cleared the schedule for one of their techs. Gabriel was here at 11:30, explained the issue, they worked with us on the price, and Gabriel went to work. The dispatcher made sure he was ready for an installation and by 4:00 we had a new water heater. Gabriel was efficient, friendly, courteous, and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. We are selling our home and the buyers hired Bragg to inspect the furnace for safety. The technician inspected the furnace and then ran some carbon monoxide tests on our bedroom vents. He dramatically called the realtor and myself over saying that there was a major problem. He pointed to his yellow meter device and it said 40ppm on it. He was measuring the vents in the bedrooms with it. He said when it goes over 5ppm it has high levels of carbon monoxide and needs to be shut off immediately and replaced. Even though he was only called in to *inspect* the furnace, he happily provided a high estimate to replace the unit. The next day (after a cold night since we were afraid to use the heat) we hired a more local HVAC company to get a lower replacement quote. The new technician, when he heard our story, said if there's ever a question about carbon monoxide safety, call PG&E for a free safety check as their equipment is the best and they are an independent party. So that's exactly what we did. The PG&E safety team arrived promptly and fully tested the furnace as well as our other appliances. The furnace passed all PG&E safety tests and their equipment showed ZERO ppm carbon monoxide coming from the vents. Thank goodness for second opinions and third party carbon monoxide testing!!! Don't fall for it folks! Also, the second quote was MUCH cheaper for a comparable product. read more

We've had Bragg out three times. First for duct cleaning, second for installing a thermostat and this most recent trip for duct cleaning again. This team was Carmen in the office as scheduler and Tracy and D'Andre as the duct service team. Carmen kept us informed throughout the process. There was a need to reschedule and she updated us even on a Saturday! Tracy was professional, friendly, thorough and he and D'Andre left the place clean and our ducts thoroughly cleaned. Turns out that the main sewer line was broken and was leaking pools of sewer underneath the building - that's why it took hours to unclog and I suspect that's why they didn't want to do a camera inspection. It ended up costing us more to fix since we didn't know about it for ~3 more weeks until another plumber came and figured out the issue in 10 min by peeking underneath the building. The plumber was a very nice gentlemen, but what matters is the job and this job was a disaster. read more

Bragg Cooling, Heating & Plumbing recently installed in our home a 2 zone Mitsubishi Ductless A/C & Heating inceiling units, compressor and an attic fan. Todd, the product manager came to our home assessing our air conditioning needs with several recommendations. Victor and Jose did an outstanding job in the installation. They paid attention to detail and protected my furniture with plastic covers so no dirt can get on it during their work. When the job was finished they cleaned up everything leaving our home and yard spotless. They were friendly and easy to work with. The office staff was very friendly too. I called the company and asked if they could come out and check one of my units. Jose came out within the hour. Their service is excellent. Tracy from Bragg Plumbing came to our home this morning to replace two toilet mechanisms and it was a pleasure to work with him. He was on time and took care of the two toilets but was also able to track down a new faucet at a local plumbing supply to replace one that had begun leaking in our garage. We were pleasantly surprised when he returned with the replacement faucet 30 minutes after leaving our home. His pleasant demeanor, professionalism and can do attitude were greatly appreciated. Based on a VERY good experience with a young plumber from Bragg when we needed a new Garbage Disposal installed, we called them when we suspected a plumbing leak that we could hear in the wall. This is a VERY long story - but the short form of it is as follows: The plumber we had requested was here on time, looked under the house, said he had found the leak and estimated the fix at about $1600- 1700. He explained that it was in a difficult spot and wanted to bring the 'foreman' back with him the following day to look at it with him. The next day, he and the foreman were here on time. My wife was home and went out to do an errand. After about 20 minutes, they called her on her cellphone to say that the problem was even more problematic that the plumber had originally thought and the work was now estimated as being upwards of $5,000. My wife, wisely, told them to stop immediately. They asked for information about contacting me and they were surprised to discover that I start my work day before they do and do not finish until after they are done. The next day, I called Bragg and asked for a detailed estimate of the work they were proposing that, we were told, involved cutting through joists. We found a different plumber who came immediately and found and repaired the leak (that was not where Bragg thought it was, but with a copper pipe above it that had corroded due to the electrolysis caused by touching an old galvanized pipe.) 3 hours and $500. later, the problem was solved. So, I suppose there are two possibilities regarding the huge difference between Bragg's estimate and the actual cost of the repair. Either 1) Bragg's ability to accurately diagnose the problem was honest but simply wrong, or 2) The higher estimate was an attempt to rip us off. Either way - unacceptable. I never heard back from Bragg about the estimate I had requested. It's OK. They won't be hearing from me again, either. read more

Just got off the phone with a Bragg employee after trying to get information about having a tankless water heater installed. I asked for a ballpark estimate and was shocked at the $4000 price I was given. I had priced tankless heaters from $600 to $1700, indoor and outdoor. After asking two questions, I was told it was obvious I didn't know anything about tankless water heaters and he didn't have time to give me details. So I guess this guy just expects his customers to shell out thousands of dollars for a water heater installation and ask no questions. Forget it lumpy. It's called being an informed shopper. If you're the type of person who likes to know what you're getting for your money, then don't call these guys. They don't have the time to give you details. read more

I got a very good feeling about this company when I called them in the morning to schedule an appointment to look at my water heater and they gave me an exact time when they would arrive that same day. The gentleman showed up promptly and diagnosed the problem within minutes (a stripped nutt). However, he then said they had a "minimum" $225 charge and he had already fixed it without asking if I was prepared to pay for this. What a rip-off for literally 5 minutes of work. (Regarding the "good feeling" I got earlier - the guy who showed up says they are just slow at this time and it's not the norm.) I would not recommend this company or use them again. UPDATE: Today, 5/11, I received a call from John, the owner of Bragg Plumbing and Heating, regarding my review on 2/9. I thought perhaps he was calling to make things right. When I called back to speak with him, he said he takes these reviews "very seriously." However, he then just proceeded to argue with me about my review and left me wondering why he had even called in the first place. I believe that how you handle a problem can make up for a poor experience, but I don't feel like any effort was made to make this right or even understand my position. Look at the other reviews on this site. I'm not the only one with something to say about how they handle complaints/problems. read more

I wanted trenchless sewer replacement and had lined up another company back in November to come in December. They were so backed up that they still hadn't rescheduled me by mid January. I started looking for someone else. I saw on-line that Bragg does trenchless so I called. John was super responsive. He lined me up for work and all the permits were pulled and work was done within 10 days. Zack was the foreman on site and he called me when he ran into substandard parts that needed replacing. I wish I knew more about plumbing costs since I was quite surprised at how much more I ended up paying, but overall was super pleased with their job. My suprise might have had more to do with my lack of experience with plumbing costs, than them in particular. Zach was really great to work with. He scheduled the inspectors and got their approval. He also, at my request, prepared 2 quotes so I could make an educated decision on how to proceed for the immediate as well as down the line. tried to use them today to make a repair on our condo heater. It seems the system is having a hard time starting, but once on, the heater works well. The man was late, although only ~10 minutes. My partner (female) was the contact person and met him. it took him ~10 minutes to state we needed a new igniter switch and something else (vague) and it would be $1200. After my partner reacted, he stated we could just replace the system for ~$4000. (is this an effort to make $1200 look cheap???!!) I then showed up, after a call from my partner (also female) and by that time I had googled igniter switches. I also have a house and had similar repairs last year and it cost ~$350ish. I told the tech guy this, and he said perhaps it was a different problem. (OK, I can accept this, perhaps this is more involved...) I asked him for the estimate,,,,,what needs to be repaired, what parts etc. He stated HE DOES NOT DO THAT!!!! It's only a PRICE for ALL, NO Quote of parts/labor or what exactly he's doing. I paid the $69 "estimate", and was glad to not hire this company. Something is Seriously wrong, when he won't even state in writing what repair needs to be done. update 3/23/16- OK, we had another company do the repair. they 1st informed us of what was wrong and what needed to be done and how much it would cost. It ended costing ~$400 WITH the "coming out" fee. Then they gave us a written report. I am Sooooo glad I did not go with this company. BTW, the name of the Bragg tech was Brooks. read more

Bragg Plumbing has been a great service for us. Jacob came out today and found that our recoil had 10 years of dog hair in there. We were never advised by Sears to check this area. Jacob took apart the necessary pieces to get to the exchanger coil and cleaned everything out. He ran a test to make sure everything was working. Thank you for doing such an outstanding job!! Too expensive!!! When the technician came to look at my A/C, he knew right away that the problem was the capacitor. I didn't think there was going to be an issue with the cost because I figured a capacitor shouldn't cost that much. He didn't disclose the cost of the part and labor, instead he went ahead and replaced the capacitor. He told me after the fact that it was going cost $448! There is no justification for why I would be charged $379 for the capacitor. I feel that the technician took advantage of the fact that I'm a woman. Shame on you, Bragg Plumbing!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD! DO NOT USE BRAGG PLUMBING! We have spent so much time & money dealing with these people over the past year. We had an infant daughter & our AC broke. Not only did they sell us an $800 part that we didn't need but they continued to not show up for scheduled appointments and mis-diagnosed our problem over 6 times... I had a wonderful experience with this company today! Chance came out to discuss my water heater problem and the tankless vs. regular hot water heater debate. He totally convinced me that the tankless heater would work for me and actually pay for itself very quickly. The deciding factor, it seems, is how many people may need the hot water at once. The cost of the tankless heater depends on the amount of hot water needed. In my case, not that much! Larger heaters take longer to cost out, but are still a great deal. Then he quoted me a price for the tankless water heater. It was $2,500 (more than 30%) LESS than a quote I received from Ongaro and Sons. Pretty cool, right? I also learned that typical Home Depot-grade appliances are not nearly as high quality as "commercial grade" which don't really cost much more. You get what you pay for, evidently. It gets better! He then proceeded to fix my current water for $125!! The guy from Ongaro didn't even take apart the burner assembly to find out what the problem was. The Ongaro guy also said that he had the same type of water heater, and that it had been recalled because of the problem I was having. This was not true, according to the manufacturer. So, in the end, Chase fixed my 5-year old appliance and I don't need to buy a water heater at all! Whoo hoo!! Tell all your friends! read more
