Was on the way to a show in Manhattan. Stopped by thinking something simple would be ready 5~10 minutes tops. 15 minutes later, my order had yet to come out and my friend's order had been ready for five minutes but was just sitting there behind the counter. The woman behind the counter was clearly overwhelmed, but none of her coworkers were helping her. I would talk to a manager, but they were "off for the day". From the looks of it, it doesn't even look like they are there when they are if staff was so unprepared for lunch "rush". So hard to find a decent place like this: grab and go healthy food at a reasonable price. Can't beat the location either. I like to stop by here in the morning after a workout for the Bacon Egg Avocado breakfast sandwich special (comes with a free coffee or tea) for $6. The employees are so nice too (shoutout to Greg). They always ask what type of milk you want and steam it without asking. Lots of grab and go prepped meals in the cold case and drinks. If I worked in downtown BK, I would definitely come here for lunch all the time. They also have plenty of seating indoors and a huge patio in the back with plants. The best place for tasty, healthy food options as well as smoothies and juices and the cost isn't inflated as well. I eat there at least 4x a week, breakfast lunch and dinner. Stumbled upon this spot looking for something light, quick and plant-based. Turns out this spot just opened up and with great prices and dining options too. I went for the vegan chopped cheese which both looked and tasted amazing. By far one of the best vegan sandwiches i've had and only for $10. Pretty decent and filling portions, but you'll wanna keep eating. Second time i got the vegan cholo and it slapped just as much. Cute environment with backyard seating and sweet employees. I'm so happy this place opened up here on Court st.! The whole experience was amazing. Mel and Rodrigo were incredibly warm and helpful- exemplary hospitality which stood out in New York tbh. I love how many options there are, from breakfasts and smoothies to lunch and dinner. Amazing healthy bowls, meal preps (4 at $20) which I can't wait to try! I got the Jamaican me crazy bowl with salmon for $14 all in, and it was a great dinner: filling, healthy, and so fresh! I cannot recommend this place more especially if you're eating smart. Moving my review over to the correct location We have our workday lunch exclusively at this location and have had nothing but the best service each and every we go. Food is always good and fresh and there is enough selection to keep you trying different things each time. In addition to their vast sandwich selection they also have more healthy and vegan options if that is what you are into. I only wish they offered a selection of salads and/or Acai Bowls, but that is a small complaint in the overall excellent experience the staff, food, and atmosphere provide. read more

I just found my new favorite place. It has a beautiful and huge garden towards the back and the food is so good and affordable. It's way better than sweet greens if you ask me. They have smoothie, juices, coffee and the craziest deal of 4 meal preps for only $20. Like where else can you get that. Plus they have amazing bowls and sandwiches. It's a place that has it all. I come to this place for lunch every single day. The place is beautifully lit, the music is never too loud, and the employees are fantastic. They're so kind and helpful if you don't know where to start and are super efficient. As per the food itself, the options are extremely varied. Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience here. I came to do work in the back and ordered a drink before going to the back. They were very busy. I went up to order a drink but the employee told me to go to the kiosk to order because they had too many drink orders. No problem, I did that. After ordering, I went to the back to set up my stuff. I waited a few minutes to go back in because they were very busy and I was explicitly told they had a lot of drink orders. When I went back in to check if my drink was ready, a male employee gets my drink and very rudely states, " yeah, it's been ready for 20 min." I responded by saying that wasn't true, I hadn't even been there for 20 min. Another employee standing nearby looked shocked. It was completely inappropriate to be spoken to that way. There is no excuse for anyone, let alone a man, to speak to me, or anyone, that way. I did not stay to work there as I had planned, nor did I receive an apology. On another occasion, I ordered a red eye, but I was given a drink with only espresso, not coffee. I didn't say anything about it because I knew the employee was still learning and at the end of the day it wasn't a big deal. I have come many times since they opened, but I am extremely disappointed with how I was treated, and will not come again. read more

I'm writing this review to praise the customer service at Brain Food, especially Greg, who is always so bright and welcoming to customers. I also recently saw him effectively handle a very difficult (maybe deranged) individual -- I would hire Greg in a second, after seeing that incident alone. And every time I walk in for the ready-to-go meals (which are awesome), Greg is ready with a big "hello!" and a smile. I ate at Brain Food on Court Street for the first time today. I ordered one of their Super Bowls and I was very impressed with it. There were many delicious veggies, as well as the protein, and base of organic quinoa and brown rice mix. I ordered it hot, but I could have had it cold, instead. So many choices, so little time. This place opened near my apartment a few months ago. The people who work here are SO nice and they have a very extensive menu and great food. There are large double doors that open onto Court street, so you feel like you are getting fresh air but also benefiting from all things sitting inside bring. They also have a really nice back garden! Try this place if you are in the area! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. I've been going since they opened and I can't say enough good things about it! As a 25-year old law student and vegetarian, this place is PERFECT for me!! Healthy food, both meat and non-meat options, that is made quickly when I need it, with fresh ingredients, and all at at very reasonable prices!! I love their vegetarian BAE (bacon avocado egg) breakfast sandwich, love their vegan chopped cheese and tofu spartan sandwiches, and also get their smoothies a lot too! They also have a great variety of healthy snacks and drinks, as well as a great deal on weekly meal preps which I enjoy as well! They're on DoorDash as well if you need a quick pick-up or delivery. Even the atmosphere is fresh and fun and clean when you eat in! Has a gorgeous backyard garden and a living plant wall, wifi and outlets, and the staff is always friendly.
