I've been meaning to come back here for a meal after trying their umami fries, which are so delicious. This time we tried a pork belly rice bowl and a salad, to which we added pork again. Each dish had a small smattering of pork. Unfortunately for us, everything was fine except the pork, which was so incredibly dry and tough. There were also bits of pork skin which were not crunchy but chewy and tough. This pork was either so old or so overcooked it was almost inedible. Another possibility is that they had leftover pork and just kept reheating it instead of making a fresh batch. Not sure if we caught them on a bad day, but that was awful. read more

Super refreshing to see these prices in SF! The rice bowl was about $13, chicken soup $10.50, and roasted squash $7. Really filling as well. The rice bowl was amazing with all the herbs and chicken fat rice which was super flavorful. Very dynamic bowl with many flavors and textures, including pickled onions and radishes and shredded cabbage. The chimichurri sauce went super well with it. I just wish there was more chicken! I think it would've been fun if they had a more fall/winter version of the bowl with roasted veggies or something, which is why we got the seasonal veggie which was an incredible roasted baby butternut squash. It was dressed with this nice chipotle yogurt that was almost nutty like tahini. The soup was frankly ok. It was pretty much the rice bowl except a lot less rice and more soup, though I'd describe the soup as more of a... water? It wasn't very flavorful or aromatic is what I mean.
