The decor is fantastic, it really does have that French inspired feel to it throughout. Dined here with friends while in town for lunch, decided to sit on the patio which has a nice feel to it, much like the inside of this beautiful place. The menu was a bit limited, offering only one item with meat, the burger, which I ordered and was very pleased. I usually never eat all of my fries at any sitting, anywhere. I ate every single fry on the table and still wanted to order more! The service was decent, our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable but timing was not of the essence. Not to say we were in a hurry, but I really wanted that glass of white wine within 10-12 minutes of being greeted and just watching it sit on the bar inside I had to help myself to it. That's probably the only reason why this review is 4 stars instead of 3. And let's get real...only the decor/vibe is French influenced. You won't find any French classic- crepes, quiche Lorraine, croque monsieur/madame, or mussels frites on the menu. It's difficult to not roll my eyes when ordering avocado toast (an overdone and way-past trend, but as you know, trends tend to come to Atlanta much later)...but I do love avocado toast and this version is delicious. The bread is thick and homemade-esque, lots of butter and covered with a generous helping of mashed avocado w/ tangy lime, sliced radish and poached egg. The toast also comes with a side of mixed greens salad, which was very fresh and perfectly dressed (not too much dressing!). My latte was not pretty (no foam art), and sitting at the bar, the latte was dropped off without any sugar or sweetener. After I asked the bartender for sweetener, I got a plate with a large lump of brown/natural sugar that took a long time to melt, since my latte wasn't all that hot. Super duper pricey, but the food is excellent. I've been here a few times and really like the atmosphere. I guess that's what your paying for. The food is really good, but for such simple fare and in small quantities it is quite pricey. Service is fantastic. My favorite items so far would be the tomato soup. Holy amazing. It's topped with a perfect puff pastry crust. It's around $10 and is a small portion. Don't expect to have as your only item unless you need just a snack. The other fave is the omelette. Fluffy and delightful. It's $13. Ate here with my ex on April Fools Day. Apparently it is normally difficult to get seats for brunch, but we had no problems. I had a burger and fries and it was probably one of the best burgers I've had in Atlanta. We also had coconut macaroons, which to be honest were rather plain, especially compared to the burger. I visited Bread and Butterfly with my mom and sister during our vacation this month. We heard that it's one of the best brunch spots in Atlanta and decided to give it a shot. We went during lunch hours on a quiet Friday afternoon. The waiter was trying his best, being that the restaurant was short-staffed, but the food service was slow. A party of 1 who was seated after us received her food and two cocktails and paid before we even received our meals! The waiter tried making it up to us with free beverages, but the bartender decided to clean and talk to bar patrons and never made our drinks; the waiter had to make them himself. Lewis Carroll and French food...what more could you need? Bread and Butterfly has thoroughly Pavlov'd me into drooling each time they are brought up in conversation. I am a sucker for a good avocado toast and they deliver each time. You really can't go wrong with the brunch options- the yogurt and fruit combo is delicious as well if you want a nice, sweet balance to your main course. Parking is spacious if you go to the lot a couple doors down and the customer service has yet to disappoint me. Bread & Butterfly is an amazing addition to the Atlanta brunch scene. It is the first place that I have been able to find quality French food in Atlanta. The restaurant itself is beautiful and does a fantastic job of emulating French restaurant aesthetic in an accurate manner. The wait staff is friendly and thoughtful - they have free coffee for you outside while you wait for your table. This is a cute spot, European style restaurant. We went for brunch and were seated within 15 mins. The decor is cute and the staff is friendly. Our waitress was really nice and comped our drinks when our food took over 35 mins to come out of the kitchen. The food was good. I had the caramelized onion and Gruyere quiche and my friends had the sun-dried tomato omelet. Everything was tasty and light but nothing stood out as particularly amazing. I am a sucker for the typical French bistro. I know that even in Paris they are a dying breed, but there is something about the classic-ness of it all that I am obsessed with. This restaurant does understand one true element to this class of establishments: they are not brasseries. In other words, they are not full service restaurants with a menu ten pages long. Their menu is a 5" x 7" notecard with the few items the chef wants to serve. First, my one grievance: the first time I went here, I got the omelette. I have been here several times for brunch and they always mention the "omelette of the day." It is, without fail, the pairing of an herb and some mild cheese (e.g. tarragon and parmesan, parsley and goat cheese). I understand if this is the traditional French omelette, but it is just so bland and unappealing. The omelette is just not exciting or worth ~$10. That being said, everything else on the menu is fantastic. I specifically recommend three dishes: 1) Pancakes: These $8 layers of sweet dough are the best pancakes you can get in Atlanta. They are cooked in the syrupy glaze, giving them a texture an flavor unlike any other pancakes. The dish comes with three big pancakes and can easily be for two people. Some cocktails and splitting a pile of these babies, there is nothing better. 2) Burger: The best burger in Atlanta. I said it. Move aside H&F and all you imitators, this is the best. The burger is served on the world's softest bun, with mayo and Dijon mustard. They usually serve it with Swiss cheese, but I prefer substituting for Gruyere. The burger is light, flaky, buttery, and oh so delicious. No ketchup needs come anywhere near this beauty. The burger is served with a pile of shoestring fries that are a perfect accompaniment. 3) Onion and Mushroom French Dip: Yes, even you vegetarians, can enjoy good food at this establishment. Their French dip, meatless as it may be, is delicious. The mushrooms and onions are sautéed in a red wine jus that adds acidity to the sandwich. The bread is a buttery, toasty baguette that is flavorful in its own right. Other suggestions are the potato and raclette gratin and the charcuterie. Both are great starters to an amazing meal at, perhaps, the closest thing to a French bistro in Atlanta. read more

Once you enter the beautiful petite coffeeshop you think that yes this is what I needed then you are approached by one of the servers and voila your disappointment starts. What's with all the brunch reviews Yelpers, is no one eating dinner here? I did, twice in two weeks actually, because it's THAT good. It's a small menu, but I'd rather they do a handful of things amazingly, than a whole bunch of stuff that's just average. I've tried the potato & raclette gratin, the burger, tomato soup (glorious), gem salad, the fries, all fabulous. Ambience is great, they've nailed the Parisienne vibe, from the decor down to the server's garb. The only thing I'm going to ding them on is the service. The first time I went it was painfully slow, even for our drinks order. The second time, well, the service was a little frosty, which I can only attribute to the fact we rolled in after 10pm (it stops serving at 11pm as we were firmly reminded). Pretentious for no good reason I can see. The hostess is an issue. I've eaten here 3 times because it's cute and in the neighborhood. But each time I'm left very underwhelmed. Today was no different. Party of 2 and they won't seat us in either of the open tables they had. Why? It's a 4 top. So we can stand there and wait 30-40 min estimate time she gave us, or cram in at the bar. Food really meh. I think you should think of it as a coffee bar that has some snacks, not a restaurant. Lower your food expectations. We sat at the bar and saw 3 other couples leave because of the same scenario from the hostess. Open tables, but not unless you had the exact amount of people. I get you're a small space, but I'm not the only one who thought that it was ridiculous to say no to customers when you have seating. I was not pleased with my breakfast here on a Saturday morning unfortunately. I had high hopes for the resturant since I had always seen a plethora of people gathered outside as I would pass by. I also noticed it was a French cafe which was appealing ton me as well because I have spent time in France on multiple occasions. This cafe fell way short. The food is expensive! The portions are ridiculously tiny! I had the yogurt parfait and it had a dollop of yogurt with a sprinkle of granola and two strawberries and a few blueberries all for 9.00! Ridiculous. My pancakes were also burned and the coffee is very bitter. I personally like bitter dark coffee but this was just too much for me. Outside of the cute ambiance, the food lacks, the parking garage is convenient to the resturant but they don't validate, and the service is average. Waited 30, then went inside and asked the hostess about it. She (rudely) told us that it wasn't about tables being open but about only having 2 servers and that there were about 6 parties ahead of us. That's fine, I get being short staffed, but a) give us a reasonable expectation of how long to wait. If we had been told an hour +, we may have walked around and been able to do something else and come back. And b) don't be so rude about it. So we were having brunch with our friend and his 92 year old aunt and his father. I accidentally gave a table for 4 instead of 5. When our table was ready, the lady who was seating us said "oh you have 5 people instead of 4?", "well you have to wait for another 30 minutes to get a table." I asked her "could you not just put 1 extra chair?" "I am with elderly people who have been waiting here for 40 minutes already in the sun." She said she will have to check and that's when we left to go to another restaurant who immediately seated us despite the fact that they were completely full. They found a table for us and gave coffee and water and made us feel comfortable. I understand the error was on my part of not giving the right number but the fact that the person at this restaurant showed no compassion for the 2 elderly people who were standing in front of her and asked them to wait for another 30 minutes for their table was just unreasonable. "RUDE!" My wife and I have walked by the restaurant on several occasions (usually peak time) and have anticipated trying it out. In the past there was always a wait. We happened to pass by again yesterday (Saturday at about 3pm) and noticed to our surprise it was very quiet. This was our chance to enjoy it without a big crowd. When we walked in, We felt an immediate foreboding unwelcome. We'd not been in before so we didn't really. know what to expect. The restaurant was empty but for couple of tables. We wondered at first if maybe they were closed after lunch because no one greeted us much less acknowledged us... It was eerily quiet though the waitstaff were there A weighted pause and then a woman behind the bar (who'd stared us down as we walked) in with her hands in her pocket shrugged, raised her eyebrows, descended them and said "two?" I wondered if maybe they'd stopped serving food. We approached the bar and said facetious in an effort to redeem the moment "forgive us for looking looking around like aliens but we were wondering if you served food or is it just a bar?" She rolled her eyes, indignantly looked down at the bar and said "it's a limited menu right now" nodded her head in the direction of the menus and said "two?" There, with no subtlety, we were clearly unwelcome At this point I was ready to go, We walked toward the door where the "limited menus" were strewn. Frustrated, I mumbled under my breath "this can't be for f'ing real" Then I heard "rude!" come across the room from the lady at the bar. Clicking her tongue grumbling to a waitstaff person about us- almost as if she was looking for a fight. Bread & Butterfly has been bookmarked awhile for me. The first time I attempted to try this place out was during a early Saturday morning. We showed up around 9:00 a.m. thinking they would serve brunch however we were told only pastries and coffee were being served and the brunch starts at 10:30 a.m. The second time we came 10 minutes prior to brunch starting and I have to say service is very slow here. While I admire how the ambiance is cozy here, the food was not impressive to me compared to the other brunch spots I've had in Atlanta throughout the years. They have a very limited menu, but you can tell they use some of the freshest ingredients. Some of the items we tried- -Chocolate Croissant: This might have been one of the best croissants I have had in Atlanta. They're huge so it's best to split if you're in the mood. I wasn't sure if we could have requested them to warm up since it came out cold. Not too much of a problem, it was still flaky and buttery. -Scrambled eggs, creme fraiche with trout on brioche toast: I'm a huge fan of smoked trout and the pictures I saw for this item actually had me wanting to come here. I may have had high expectations for this one, it was decent to get but not worth the price. -Pulled Lamb sandwich: My bf got this dish and he liked it at first but wasn't too amazed by it in the end. I tried it and it was just ok since it was lacking flavors. The service was decent, our waiter was nice but not much of a talker. I had a nice lunch here with my friend and I had a mostly positive outlook on it. I had a croque monsieur and my friend had the madame. We split some French fries on the side because they smelled so good. We also got some cocktails, and then dessert was lemon tart and the lemon cake I think. All of the food was really good, as were the drinks. My knocking the star off comes in because I think this place was a little over priced. It is good French style food but I don't want to pay $15 for a sandwich, or $11 for a single cocktail, especially at lunch time. Our server was also a tad on the awkward side.
