It has been a while since I've been back to Bread Artisan for their pastries. Depending on the day, I either visit their Bakery location in Santa Ana (Saturdays only) or the Laguna Niguel Farmer's Market (Sundays only). They have a good variety of sweet and savory pastries. We tried this bakery since 61hundree had an insane line. There was no wait here but almost sold out. We had a pastry with Guava and an almost croissant. The guava was amazing, light and flaky and just right amount guava jam. The almond croissant was just too dense for my taste. Good quality either way. Would love to try the other pastries not time. Def hard to spot them though. Improve signage would be great! read more

I was at a recent Park festival and someone had a table of bread from the Bread Artisan Bakery. I purchased a couple loaves of sourdough and multi grain bread and a few of their Kouign Amann (personal FAVE) and I regret not stocking up on more! They were so delicious and fresh! The gentleman that was at the table was very kind and explained to me that the bread had no preservatives and also told me how to store it if I wasn't going to eat it right away. I really can't wait to get my hands on some more. I recently reached out to them from their website and asked if they did delivery within the US. Unfortunately, they are not there yet but hopefully soon! There are many stores that carry their bread already, including Trader Joe's! The great thing is if you go to their socials, they let you know where they will be as far as farmers markets, other events. This bread is a must try! read more

This is NOT a restaurant. It's a retail/primarily wholesale bakery. On Saturdays only they open their offices for retail pick up 9-2. They also sell at some farmers markets. The bread is amazing. I just got back from France, and it rivals any bread I got there. read more

This companies bread is awesome ! The sourdough is my absolute favorite. I grew up in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area and had what I thought was the best sourdough bread ever. There are numerous sourdough bread varieties available there . Most of them are really good. This company in Santa Ana has some of the best breads I've ever had . Their sourdough is as good if not better than any others . I've been a world traveler flying for TWA for 30 years (retired ) and I know bread . I've tried two croissants (chocolate & almond), a cinnamon roll, and three different loaves of their bread so far. I won't stop until I try them all. The loaves are divine. Ever heard of having a green thumb? They have this, but for bread. The croissants are massive, but surprisingly didn't do it for me. That won't stop me from trying them again to make sure though...for...science. The cinnamon roll was less oily than most, it would probably be delicious heated up (same with croissants). But...the loaves. Lovely big loaves. Lovely little rolls. Don't question the carbs. They don't matter here. Chef's...or should I say Baker's...kiss! My favorite! On Sundays at the Laguna Niguel Farmer's market, my mind's telling me... "You gotta stand in that line and get some to take home. It's worth the wait. You gotta." First, they are so friendly and patient with the customers. They get the line moving, yet when you get to the front it doesn't feel like they are rushing you. 5 stars - Croissant pastries. Any of them. Just get any of them. They have fruit or savory fillings and their croissant dough has a good flake. The one they sell out of quickly, is also my favorite, the gruyere caramelized onion croissant tart. For this, I recommend not sharing with anyone. That's right, I said no sharing. They can get their own. You will want the whole thing to yourself. 5 stars - Bread. My favorites are their sourdough because its got that slight chew you want in a fermented dough. The olive bread rolls are not overpowering because they keep the olives whole. They have so many more baked goods I haven't tried. Sometimes I sacrifice not ordering one of my favorite items, so I can try something new. And I never walk away disappointed in that choice. Everything is quality made here. read more

My wife says their Kouign Annan is the best she has ever had! She is the expert. I love it too. It is rich and buttery! Also their Epis multigrain s beautiful and delicious. There is no ambiance because this is a wholesale bakery. Do not drive there without checking online. They are only open for retail. We ordered by 2pm on Wednesday, to pick up on Saturday. Horrible customer service. Didn't even get to taste any of the product. Drove all the way down from Bellflower in traffic. Looking for a bread vendor for my food truck. Wanted to get a couple brioche hamburger buns. As I parked there was a promising sign outside the door stating fresh baked bread. Walked in, no smell of bread being baked, asked about the buns and was quickly turned away, only takes online orders. Tried to state why I was there. I only wanted two buns to try out on my product, but no, couldn't even complete the sentence and shut down. Ok. Glad I found out this way rather than place a large order, have a mistake, and try to deal with poor customer service. read more

I was a little weary before picking up my order at Bread. I saw the mixed reviews online about the service and complaints that is a pick up only location in a warehouse. True, it is an online order pick up location at their warehouse on Saturdays, but they do have some ready made items to sell on the side. Every February they have their cherry chocolate sourdough bread that I look forward to getting. It's delicious! Highly recommend! Excellent service and no issues. Just note that if you do want to make a purchase at their shop, they only take cash or Venmo. read more

You need to know this is not a retail business at the Edinger street location. They only sell at Farmers Markets and wholesale. I do not like buying a bread from the grocery store so I stopped by this place in Laguna Niguel where they had a stand at Farmer's Market. It took a while for the guy to notice me, once he did, I asked for a german bread. He showed me a rather large loaf. My response was "that is huge!" His response was, "Well, thank you very much!" My husband cringed and I pretended I did not hear it... People behind me stared in disbelief. That is how unprofessional the comment and him was. The joke 1000 years old with a sexual content is semi-ok (no longer funny as it is that old), it is not appropriate when you dealing with a customer you have never met. Grow up, no one cares about your low ego needed boosting. He was at least 50+ talking like a 13 year old teenage boy. He had one job: to sell the bread and not make it disgusting and awkward and he failed even that. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. Carlsbad and Huntington beach have European style breads far superior to this clown. read more

If you're looking for some good bread, this is definitely a place to try. I went to the Patchwork Show Santa Ana Makers Festival this weekend and this bakery was there with a truck load of bread. They had a large variety of breads from Rye to fruit loafs. I was there a bit late due to walking around galavanting. I saw this bakery truck from the corner of my eyes and it seemed like a great idea. The best decision ever! I purchased a whole round of sourdough which was perfectly baked and just so good. (Made for an excellent dinner sandwich) The second loaf I bought was a fruit and nut bread with orange zest. I left this festival with so much joy and excitement to be leaving home with such deliciousness. Both breads were fairly inexpensive and cost an average of $15 for each loaf. I gotta say that those two loafs weighed about 20 pounds together, I definitely asked for another bag. read more

We get our BREAD from the Laguna Niguel Farmer's Market every Sunday. Their sliced sourdough has been my thing for about a year and even though i rarely stray from getting anything that isn't the sourdough, i have tried a few things and they're all fantastic. The tarts are all great. the carmelized onions one is a must-get. They usually run out so get one if they have it in stock because it's perfect. It's salty/sweet and just overall one of the best pastries I've ever had. Their butter croissants are a family favorite and my family loves their almond croissants as well. Went there for the baguettes. Their description and that of the baker sounded great and I thought my search for a French-style baguette was over. However, the baguette was more American soft style on the inside than chewy French style. The taste was good and the outer crust was crispy, but I prefer a more chewy dough on the inside with a crispy outer crust. read more
