I love this place. Have been a fan since they had their pop up at Juneshine in SM. The mozzarella sandwich is to die for and I have not been disappointed with anything on the menu! Their specials and fun desserts, fruit salad, etc make it worth visiting frequently. My only critique is that the bread has seemed to have gotten thinner and more crispy than before. I imagine the increase in traffic contributes to this, but the bread tasted fresher in the Juneshine days. Still fantastic, though! read more

i love sandwiches A LOT so i knew it was time to try out bread head since i had heard so much buzz about it online. there was a moderate line when we arrived on a sunday afternoon around 2pm, but it moved quickly. my husband and i decided to split a full size combo grinder. the sandwich came out in about 10 minutes. in hindsight, i'm thinking we should've just split a half because this sandwich was HEFTY. i did not expect there to be so much meat and toppings! i guess i'm used to most places skimping lol, so i consider this a plus. it was a truly delicious sandwich - however my main feedback for this particular one is that there was such a large amount of "wet" toppings, like the tomatoes, peppers, iceberg lettuce, as well as the vinaigrette they added, that the bread started getting soggy rather quickly. and eventually the sandwich became difficult to eat - there just wasn't enough bread to keep the toppings from slipping out and it got too soggy to hold the sandwich together. i still want to try their other sandwiches though so i'll be back! free parking in the back (: read more

The bread was decent but didn't taste very fresh but then again I got the sandwich 1 hour before closing so I'm sure that didn't help. I was so excited to give this place a try after all the stellar reviews. Not sure what all the hype is about ordered a Cuban and Turkey pesto sandwich. The Cuban was all sauce. I basically tasted nothing else but the Dijon which was smothered all over the Foccacia. The Turkey Pesto was the same. Tasted like pesto and salt, nothing else. All the ingredients tasted fresh but nothing that tasted so amazing which I need to return. Customer service was quick and on point so no issues there. 2 sandwhiches cost $31.98. Doubt I'll be back. Ambiance : Clean and charming. The wooden stools by the counter were not comfortable but manageable. Service: Spot on fast and friendly. Food: Hot Ruben Sandwich Swiss cheese needed to be melted more. Not enough pastrami because the sauerkraut took over the flavor. Muffaletta sandwich - Delicious. Enjoyed the olive spread in it. The price for a half sandwich is a bit pricey. I think it's worth $11.00 not $13.00 for the Muffaletta and $12.00 for the Ruben not $14.00. I'm surprised on the price for a FULL sandwich. My family and I were up in Santa Monica visiting all the art museums in LA and we had a hankering for a good sandwich - and Bread Head was just down the street from our hotel. My husband and I stopped by for lunch thinking we'd just grab take away but they have a little parklet so we stayed. Their half sandwiches are definitely big enough for one person, I got the Calabrian Turkey with tomato and my husband got the hot sandwich of the day which was a Cuban. Normally I rate things based on how we both feel but my sandwich was definitely 5 stars, one of the best sandwiches I've had in LA. He didn't love his but he's spoiled by the Cuban sandwiches at our local Cuban restaurant. The Calabrian mayo added such a nice little touch of heat, the iceberg lettuce actually worked perfectly with a cool crunch but the star of the show was the bread, it was just excellent. I only had half of the half and the leftovers were still good later but I will say the sandwiches are best straight away if you can avoid traveling before you have them. Next time maybe we'll split a whole sandwich but I might have to get the same thing again! read more

We heard all about the sammiches & the lines here, so we arrived around 20 mins after opening, on a weekday. We were 4th in line & there were already at least 8 parties standing or seated, waiting for their orders. Service was really warm & unrushed, esp considering the line grew by at least 9 more people behind us by the time we were placing our orders. We took a bunch of different sammiches to go: Calabrian Turkey - slightly spicy BLT - crispy Nueske's bacon Muffaletta - is that orange zest? Cuban - the daily special Being newbs, we ordered all large sammiches & the cashier was nice to automatically have them all split for us. What we didn't realize til we were handed a super heavy bag was that a large is basically 2 sammiches! So each half of the large was wrapped separately, & cut in half (on the diagonal, like the cool kids do). Packaging was very secure. This was a LOT of food. Like, many meals' worth! Many DELICIOUS meals' worth. Even the next day, after several minutes in the airfryer, the bread crisped right up. I personally love to give a sammich time to get a little soggy with flavor, so imo the only sammich that prob was best eaten fresh was the BLT bc of the perfectly crispy bacon. Their freshly baked bread is fantastic. It's like a thinner focaccia, crispy on all edges. The cold cuts & cheeses & crispy Nueske's bacon are all excellent quality. Each sammich had some element that made it slightly unique & memorable. While we were there, smart people were arriving & walking past the line & up to the register to pick up to-go orders. Wow! Outstanding sandwiches!!! Read about them recently and was going to a screening with my sons at the nearby AERO theater, so we dropped by beforehand to give them a try. I found out about Bread Head from Padma's IG and I think she may have scammed me. We ordered the Calabrian Turkey and BLT. While the bacon in the BLT was phenomenal, it was a basic BLT. Nothing special. The calabrian turkey though was a complete disappointment. The focaccia bread was hard, sharp, and completely decimated my mouth while the turkey and cheddar somehow congealed into a cold chalky dense mass. The sandwich was also strangely bland as it consisted of only turkey, cheddar, lettuce, and thousand island sauce? I was hoping for some kick as it was a Calabrian chile sandwich but alas, flavor and spice were nowhere to be found. Overall, for the price, not worth it. read more

The bread sucks and the filling is disgusting. Right off the bat, the bread is super thin focaccia, crisped up to the max and honestly pretty stale. If you like this style of sandwich I think you will still be pretty disappointed with the bread. Another draw back - it's their only bread, regardless of the type of sandwich. It falls apart, super scratchy and unpleasant to eat. The filling - we got chicken salad and it was awful. Bits of bone and chicken fat, bland taste and the only other things you get on the sandwich are some sad slices of apple as a consolation prize. I should've taken a picture because this is one of flattest, saddest sandwiches I've had in a while. The layout inside is crowded and hectic. I would not recommend this. All'Antico Vinaio in Venice does this type of sandwich properly but why go all the way down there when Tartine is down the street. I do enjoy the sandwiches but let's be real they are definitely overpriced. $30 for a sandwich is getting crazy but maybe that's just me. And I've read other people say they're good for 2 meals and maybe it is for some people but not for me. I really do think it's some of the best sandwich bread ever though. I've had the combo grinder, tuna, turkey and pesto and all are very good but would probably skip the tuna in the future. Tuna sando is a little bland. Combo grinder has been my favorite so far. It was fantastic to see how enthusiastic the employees were about the products. The young man running the cash register was patient and kind. When I asked about the coffee cake special a few other young men got excited and said that it was incredible. To see this kind of enthusiasm from young employees was a breath of fresh air. I should have come here sooner. BreadHead is the creation of two former Trois Mec chefs. They bake focaccia fresh every day and then top it with top-quality ingredients. They roast the beef for their roast beef sandwich and add stracchino, arugula, horseradish and garlic aioli. Every bite of that horseradish cleared my sinuses! The garlic aioli is delicious AF and completely sexy on that bread. The Muffaletta has salami cotto, mortadella, ham, provolone, swiss and olive salad. It's a little salty from the olives, but I balanced it out with some of the alfalfa sprouts from my husband's Mozzarella sando, which made it just perfect. You can either buy half ($8) or a full sandwich ($14). I highly recommend buying two halfs, so you can sample more flavors. Save room for dessert - they have dark chocolate coffee cookies, $3 for three! Metered street parking out front. They do not take phone orders, but you can order online, though prices have an additional surcharge. I went in-person and placed my order, which was ready relatively quickly. They're only in this location at 9909 S. Santa Monica Blvd. in Beverly Hills until October 16th. Sandwiches are nice but not great. The spreads are too rich. I almost feel sick after I eat it. Yes, the bread is fresh and buttery but it is pan bread cut in squares. It depends on the sandwich, but usually each sandwich tastes better with bread that is paired to the kind of sandwich, like, rye, sourdough, olive and then some taste better if it is toasted. Not here. You just can this pan bread. The BLT is hard as a rock with bacon overcooked. The muffuletta is not as good as New Orleans muffuletta at the Central Grocery. Now that is place that has the best bread because it is bread in a dome and it's seeded on the outside. The iceberg lettuce is the best thing at this restaurant because you can never get the lettuce right in a sandwich or hamburger except Apple Plan. Apple Pan has the best sandwiches btw. The lemonade here I have to say is exceptional. If you want to grab something to eat, this place is fine. It's just not exceptional. read more
