I love this place! I am so happy it is now in Los Angeles. I used to go to the branch in San Diego and always hoped it would come to LA one day. The food is terrific. Very fresh, tasty, and fairly priced. I recommend the Oreo pancakes! They look like they're going to be overly sweet, but they aren't. They are perfect! Service is amazing! Came at 1:45 pm and stood outside for a long time.... no host came out to greet us / seat us so finally we wandered in and asked a server if we could just sit anywhere. Very few people were there and there were tons of dirty dishes on the tables. Our server looked pretty overworked/ over the job. It took forever to get our food and coffee even though the place was pretty empty. We started eating with our hands because it was not 'automatic' to make sure our setups were on the table when seated. The place feels like a badly run cafeteria and the vibe of all the staff is ' overworked and ready to quit.' This is the second time I tried this place, the first time I got their Turkey Hash. This place is amazing. There is outdoor dining and indoor dining. My wife told me about this place and was very surprised and lucky ( after we were done there was a line) we were seated right away. My wife ordered the eggs Benedict and it looked so good. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with a side of maple sausage and hash-browns sprinkled with bacon. I do wish they had this as a combo plate. Went for breakfast today and was seated at a patio table. We waited for over 20 minutes, and I had to walk inside to get someone's attention. I saw a bunch of workers talking and laughing. When I finally got help, one of the ladies said the patio was closed and they were only serving guests inside -- which is ridiculous. Why seat us on the patio if it's closed? I understand if they were busy, but they weren't. They were just talking and laughing. Bad service. Not going back again. read more

So I took my kid out to breakfast on a Thursday morning. I had been to the breakfast Republic in San Diego like a decade before and really enjoyed it and was excited to see that they had come to Los Angeles. I was incredibly disappointed as was my kid. This was the worst breakfast we've ever had. The food is just terrible. I had the crabcake Benedict with home fries and potatoes and he had the Oreo pancake with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. The Benedict was it was just awful. The taste was awful. There's jam on the bread and it was just overall nothing jumped out at me. My potatoes were cold. His scrambled eggs were overcooked and his eggs and bacon were cold. And for a kid who loves sugar he's 10 he didn't like the Oreo pancakes. They had some kind of weird sugar refilling between the pancakes. I guess it's like the filling of an Oreo. It was overall really just the most disappointing breakfast I've ever had and we won't be going back there read more

I was really looking forward to trying this spot and I was sorely disappointed. My experience at the restaurant was fine and the service was good, but I did notice something was off. I ordered the Jurassic pork eggs benedict dish, which comes with poached eggs, and house potatoes. The food didn't taste good. The poached egg was vastly overcooked and the yolk inside was solid and not runny as a traditionally poached egg would be. Then, the house potatoes tasted really awful. On top of all that, within an hour of leaving the restaurant, my stomach felt awful for the rest of the week. I wouldn't return here. I wish the food would've been better. read more

A good place for brunch!! I discovered this restaurant a couple years ago in San Diego and really enjoyed it! I have to start by saying that I think this location can definitely improve compared to the San Diego location. We arrived on Sunday morning with a party of 7, and waited about 25 minutes.. which was nothing in LA. They send you a text once your table is ready which is really convenient. Public parking is conveniently located across the street. Staff was really nice and helpful they made the experience very nice. I ordered a Chai Latte (5/10), Chilaquiles plate (7/10), and the Pineapple upside down pancakes (8/10). The food lacked some flavor, but I genuinely enjoyed it with my family. The prices are really reasonable, and the amount of food given was great. You can definitely share with others. Overall, the ambiance and experience was great. Would definitely come back. read more

I was so excited to try this place. Adorable, interesting menu items. So... I'll start with a few minor things in case management is reading. Music too loud so hard to socialize near the bar, a bit sad you ran out of Bloody Mary accompaniments and we just had it plain. The spicy house ketchup is divine, PROPS for that. Wonderful staff. On to the food.... Now my husband went with the Chilequiles bc they are starred on the menu as a favorite. They are not traditional perse but bc he is a fan of more tried and tried Mexican restaurants serving, he wasn't impressed. It was a bit deconstructed, flavors not there. You always run that risk ordering a Mexican dish though at a NON-Mexican restaurant. I got the CRAB & CRAWFISH CAKE - with hollandaise, blackberry jalapeño jam, guajillo, and parsley garnish on sourdough English muffins. It is recommended with avocado and tomato and comes with potatoes. I really LOVED it. I am a sucker for a seafood cake on a Benedict. Just in heaven. I had the jam on the side bc I love Hollandaise and wasn't sure I'd want jam as well. I did like the jam and put a bit on to try but it wasn't necessary for me. The nice part of it is that it's not overly sweet. Fresh blackberries with a kick and no sugar added. I am just not sure I want jam with seafood. I added tomato and avocado but next time I'd disregard the tomato and suggest others do. Bc it was on the bottom, the only half-toasted English muffin got soggy. I really think Benedicts need well-toasted bottom bread bc the sauce then doesn't make it all soggy. Still, I lapped it up. Very minor criticisms. Potatoes were decent, but plain was better with the benny flavors and the spicy ketchup was divine. (I missed you can jazz up your potatoes with things like Brussel sprouts, parmesan, bacon etc. YUM!) They got the runny yolks and didn't overcook (a pet peeve) bc what is better than a runny yolk on this!? I think bc we were in there about 40 min b4 brunch ended that it may have been rush time with dishes. Not that we felt rushed and it was served quickly but maybe why my English muffin was more raw than toasted. I would definitely go back again and told my husband to try another dish. Cluck Madame looks great! It is cool they have Linguisa sausage which you don't see a ton out in Cali. Loads of pancake varieties and vegan options. I WILL BE BACK! read more

Start 2024 with some good vibes at Breakfast Republic. The place oozes coolness. The decor is modern country with a strong influence of "big rooster" energy. The food served on platters larger than most Culver City parking spaces did not disappoint. The omelets were fluffy and packed with flavor. The potatoes were excellent. Firm on the outside, soft on the inside and all the savoriness you can handle. The coffee was the way I'd want to start every morning . I've seen complaints about long waits and service on other reviews, I'm happy to say that was not the case today. I had to overcome my jealousy of our server's green corduroy overalls but her service was attentive and very good. With that said based on the size of the place and the size of their portions I can see this place very busy on the weekends. Bring your patience along with your appetite it's worth it. The food is absolutely amazing! There are so many options to choose from when ordering and I really wanted the whole menu. The only downside is that pancakes only come in 3 and I can't eat that much, I hope they add a singular pancake to the sides. The service is so good and nice. They told us we would be seated in ten minutes and they sat us down in five, really kind waiters and super friendly people. Take Janice for example. No matter how crazy the place is she's always got this easy-breasy sense of calm and takes great care of folk. I always make slight changes to my order (I like regular ketchup - the house ketchup is sugary, so I have them swap it), and it's never an issue. So that makes me feel welcome, not like I'm a bother. We came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. We were told the wait was going to be around 25 minutes but we ended up waiting around 30 (which we understood since it was prime brunch time). I do wish they had a reservation or waitlist system so we don't have to stand in the sun outside while we wait for tables. Once our name was called, we got seated outside in the patio which was fine, but a reservation system would prevent people waiting for a table to stand over your table and watch you eat. It was a hot day too so the sun was beaming. We ordered a Bloody Mary (which was one of the best I've ever had tbh), salted caramel latte with oat milk, a side of the Jurassic pork (this was also really good), the Portuguese linguisa sausage scramble (subbed churro pancakes for bread), and the breakfast burrito. The churro pancakes sub is super worth it since it's only $4 more and they give you two whole pancakes and you can pick whichever pancake! Everything was really good and we especially enjoyed their hot sauce. Overall, the experience was positive and the Bloody Mary itself is enough for me to want to go back! Great brunch spot to come with friends! The food is always good here and they offer some great morning cocktails (including one of the best Bloody Mary's I've had from a casual brunch spot). If you're a bacon lover, you can't leave here without trying the Jurassic Pork! It's super meaty, sweet, and not overly crispy. We ordered pancakes as a substitution for toast with our scramble and were able to pick any pancakes we wanted for just $4 more! Great option if you want pancakes on the side. The California Breakfast Burrito was pretty good but the salsa was bland. I needed to add hot sauce to each bite to give it a bit more flavor. The downside here is that they only take walk-ins so expect to wait a bit before they'll seat you. The food was solid but the service was a bit lacking. They may have been understaffed for the day as we felt like we were flagging them down or waiting a while every time we needed something and for the check at the end of the meal. But then they also left out other ingredients that I did want in the burrito. They forgot to put in cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo. They also didn't include the side of salsa. It was the driest and most bland burrito I've ever experienced. The eggs were over cooked. The guacamole sauce was oddly distributed. There was no evidence of tomato, onion, cilantro (pico de gallo) pieces in the guacamole (pico infused?). Overall, not worth the $19 (item + tax), and definitely not worth the caloric consumption. read more

I'm not sure what happened on this particular day but the cook clearly was tired with a hangover from the night before because the food was NOT hitting. Nice service and GREAT food! I like the Cluck Madame - (very much like a Croque madam - French dish - which is a croque monsieur, add an egg) - Ham, gruyere cheese, béchamel sauce, on toast. I also like their traditional Benedict with tomato and avocado. The Avocado toast is lovely. One item you definitely should try is the Mr. Presley! - I recommend you get it "for the table" - if there's a few of you, as it is a heart stopper - but sooooo good! - peanut butter stuffed french toast topped with bananas foster and bacon - add maple syrup and wow! Mmmm - mmm! - you will fight over it, but be glad you didn't eat the whole thing yourself - after! Also on my fav's list is their In-house freshly squozen OJ - so delicious! Breakfast Republic is a perfect example of style over substance. In fact, it's a microcosm of West LA. It looks great, it's in a great location, but you are paying more for where you are rather than what you are getting. The food is fine. My Croque Madam with the upcharged brussel sprout potatoes was pretty good. My wife's jalapeño sausage omelette was bland and my son didn't like his pancakes, but he would eat Cane's for every meal so take that as you will. Finally, the coffee cake they advertise as house made was tasty but dry. When I say the place looks great, it does. The inside is clean and modern, with clever decorations on the wall. The staff wears shirts that say, "Eggs with Benedicts." The coffee cups are large and come with a cute little container of cream if you ask for it. Obviously the chain has figured out a style and they are successful with it. Unfortunately, our service, at least on the July 4th we visited was not the best. It was busy and we took an outside table in the sun rather than wait. I hate to complain about slow service, maybe they were understaffed due to the holiday, but the fact is, the service was slow. We waited for our order to be taken, we waited for our food, and waited to be asked if we needed anything. On one hand, everyone was friendly, they even moved us inside when a table became available, but on the other hand we spent quite a while just waiting. Will I go here again- probably not. If someone took me or if a group of friend wanted to go there, I wouldn't object, but if it were up to me, I'd go elsewhere. read more
