I'd give this place 6 stars if I could just because I respected the honesty of the waitress. The food was all really good. My wife and son shared the French toast flight with peanut butter, strawberry and banana split. All of them were really good. I had the breakfast jambalaya, which is pretty much jambalaya with and egg on top. But it was actually really good jambalaya so it worked. My oldest son got the breakfast burger and that thing looked and tasted great. Waitress was surprisingly honest when we asked about the curry and said that some people don't think it tastes like the curry they expect. Went here to try out a new breakfast place, craving a hot breakfast! They have lots of food items, and a whole vegan menu too. I went for a vegan breakfast burrito. They put vegan pastrami in it, which honestly tasted as good as regular pastrami. It also had a generous amount of cheese and guacamole, which I loved. I also recommend the cookie crumble latte, which is great to satisfy a sweet tooth like mine. Portions are really generous for what you pay for. I came here on a Wednesday around 10:00a with my kid in tow. Being an off-season weekday and after the breakfast rush, the restaurant was maybe only half full? This is located inside the UTC, next to Trader Joe's. If I remember correctly, the parking spots in front are for 30 minutes only, but the spots across those near the theater and Target are 45 minutes, and the those closest to Campus Drive near Jack-in-the-Box and next to the post office have some one hour parking spots. We were lucky to find a 30 minute spot, which was enough time since the restaurant wasn't crowded. We both ordered the American ($13.00) and decide to share the tres leches vegan pancakes ($13.00?), which is their current special. I also got the iced ube latte ($6.75) and kiddo got the bottomless strawberry lemonade ($4.00). The American is the typical eggs, meat, potatoes and toast combo, which I like since it has a bit of everything in it. I got over medium eggs, jalapeño bacon cheddar sausage, and sour dough toast. The sausage wasn't as spicy, which was fine with me, but on the salty side and couldn't really taste the cheddar. The over medium eggs were cooked perfectly, but the house potatoes were overcooked. The jam for the toast was yummy! It looked like it was housemade, but not sure. The ube flavor in the latte was pretty subtle and the latte itself was mildly sweet. The pancakes (vanilla pancakes with vegan sweet buttercream, almond, coconut, and oat milk syrup, fresh strawberries, topped with pistachio brittle) were yummy, nutty but not overpowering, and balanced nicely with the tartness from the strawberries. Our server was nice and friendly, but it looked like he was the only one working the entire floor so it was hard to get his attention at times. read more

We went at peak time on a weekend morning and it seemed like they didn't have their formula figured out as far as staffing and service during busy periods. Our drinks took forever (!!) including water, and two were drinks wrong. The food was great though they didn't get the egg temp right (was sunny side up when requested over medium). Just seems like a lot got lost in translation. Overall it's still a solid breakfast place unless you're super scared of birds in which case don't sit on the patio. It's a relatively basic brunch spot with the basics- Benedict's, avocado toast, coffee, sandwiches, mac n cheese, mimosas, etc. Coffee is okay but definitely not a roastery lol. Standout item: Shrimp and grits They look simple but they're amazing. I don't normally see this as a breakfast item in California and even when I have they're not this amazing. It's drenched in butter and is smooth and creaaamyyyy. The shrimps add a nice touch but honestly the grits themselves do the trick. Cheesy and creamy. I've had grits elsewhere and tried making grits myself, but I can never get to this texture of buttery ness, cheesiness, smooooooth, and creammyyyyy. Absolutely magnificent. If everything was just as good, 5/5. Coffee- bitter and burnt but ok Crab cake Benedict- side of potatoes not crispy, poached egg was overdone, definitely not enough sauce. Entire thing kind of just slid apart with their separate flavors not really melding together. Could barely taste the crab in the crab cake. Solid food but would not go out of my way to come eat. This place was good, but wasn't really spectacular. The breakfast was your average run of the mill breakfast. Eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. A nice place if you like a classic breakfast. Nothing really stood out of the menu except for the drink options. They had plenty of different types of mimosas and Bloody Mary's. The mimosa was nice and crisp. Got mine with regular orange juice and Prosecco. My boyfriend got the regular Bloody Mary and it was a nice mild mix. Overall not bad, but probably won't return. read more

Had a great experience last month when I was in Irvine! Another gluten free friendly place that one of my friends enjoyed and was able to order from due to an allergy. The ambiance was great since we sat outside and the establishment was conveniently in the University Town Center among other stores and restaurants. Fair warning: the birds outside are pretty reckless as in they can get kind of close. They landed on the backs of chairs and on tops of umbrellas. I really can't blame the restaurant for this as it is a food establishment but if you don't like birds (like me) it's good to mention.
