Ok....so the appetizers are pretty good and I include it as one of my spots to do happy hour......Owner handled an issue VERY distastefully today....frankly i was shocked. Happy hour was cancelled today because it was Octoberfest downtown. Waitress never told me, no note on the menu, no note on the table, no sign on the door. Found out when i received my bill. Owner said he posted it on Facebook and wouldn't adjust my check. REALLY!! You have to be kidding me.....right?? LOL...That is insane. My husband and I have been here twice now and really enjoyed it. I got the salmon sandwich and fries which is delcious and he got a burger wih some extras..said they were great. The soft pretzle appetizer with the beer cheese is yummy..just wish they would give you 4 pretzels imstead of 3 so its easily divided for 2 people. We will definately be going back...hopefully sooner rather than later! read more

i met a person for a blind date at the Brecon Grille after work last week. The food was just ok, the prices were high for a salad & burger. The bartender was very cool, he did a great job of helping the conversation move along and seemed to know a lot of the crowd. Three stars for the bar. read more

I was in here once on a Friday night with my mother and Aunt. We were looking for a nice place to hang out and have a drink, and this was definitely a great choice. The fish and chips will definitely bring me back here from Ann Arbor! The cod was light and crispy, not fishy at all, hard to find elsewhere. And they did not forget the fries! My 2 children ordered dessert and found food in their ice cream. I sent the ice cream back and called the manager when we returned home. The waitress didn't mention this to the manager who immediately suggested maybe a dirty scoop was used to dish up the ice cream (gross!!). Once he "investigated" the situation and called me back, he assumed frozen peas from the shelf above fell into the ice cream container below. His solution was an apology ... An underrated restaurant in Saline. I've had a good meal every time I have visited. Offers lots of weekly specials and from what I understand has a decent beer selection. The kitchen employs a head chef and it shows in the menu. I've had the French dip a few times and it does not disappoint. If you like french fries, "this must be the place"!!! read more

Had Sunday brunch yesterday, first time I have actually eaten here. The omelets were good, and the fried potates were awesome. Portion sizes were ok. Farmer's omelet with goat cheese was tasty. The goat cheese added a little smokey zing that melted nicely throughout the omelet. Don't expect your coffee cup to be topped off without asking and don't go if you're in a hurry. Had a coupon for the brunch otherwise it looks like the normal pricing will be a bit on the high side. read more

This is where my wife and I go on date night. Not sure who the people are leaving the reviews are but there must be an altering motive or they are completely nuts. To begin the service is excellent. The staff is young and upbeat. Are they slow at times.? Sure on Friday nights when the place is jammed! The food is the best. We always get the mushrooms as an appetizer and the French dip. Our boys love the place too. Downtown saline is not a bustling Mecca that commands world class service. I travel often and entertain clients weekly. I'd be pleased to take a customer here or happen upon it during a business trip. read more

I think that this place is really great and we have been coming here for years with no problems and always great food and service. The place is pretty small so when it gets busy in there, it fills up really fast so get there early! Everyone has their own opinions of this place, but I was pretty upset to see that there were 2 bad reviews and that they would not even go back and try it one more time just to be sure ... but I suppose its their loss because they are missing out. The kitchen is unique because it has an open style to it and the staff has always been great and attentive whenever we have been in there. One bad server shouldn't be enough to keep you from trying things out again. I would recommend the fried pickles for an appetizer! Sounds strange but are really great :) And they also have this sort of pretzel bread that comes on the club sandwich (which is what I always get, with sweet potato fries of course!) In spite of the bad reviews I would say give this place a shot ... see for yourself :) read more

I went to the Brecon Grille with a friend on a Sunday evening. The place was failry empty and yet our waitress passed our table 3 times without acknowledging us and I was about to leave when she finally gave us a menu. She started to walk away when I called her back so that we could order drinks. My friend and I both ordered the steak special cooked medium well. My steak was butterflied and cooked to shoe leather texture, my friend's was medium rare. The special came with polenta, which was dry and crusty. I may give them another chance but not anytime soon. read more

To the owner: You should be ashamed of how you run your business. This is a small town and the word on how horrible you are to your customers will get around town faster than you think. To anyone thinking about this place for dinner: Prepare to be disappointed like you have never been disappointed in your life. Food is tasteless and over-pried. The drinks are over-priced and the service is beyond horrible. If you want to eat a decent meal and actually enjoy the experience then this place is not it. Run, run as fast as you can. read more

Disappointing decline of quality. The Michigan salads we received consisted of a dinner plate of iceberg lettuce (soaking wet in our case) with 3 croutons and 5 dried cherries / 6 raisin sized cranberries. Gone are the days of mixed greens, candied nuts and attention to detail. Atmosphere is fine, and the staff is as busy and friendly as any of the chain restaurants. A true shame, because the food used to be so much better than the chains. read more

I went to Brecon a few times a year or so ago and wasn't too impressed but recently went back to give it another try and wow! The food and service were so much better than I remember. I had the chili and the "garbage burger" both delicious. The cocktails were a little strong but I highly recommend the "hurricane" for anyone who likes rum! Wow this was the worst meal I've had in a long time. The fish tacos on special were horrid. Just a couple of fish crumbles with some cheese and way too much cabbage. I think they ran out of fish and gave us the scrapings off the grill. My margarita seemed like just orange juice with a little tequila. The "grande" tuna appetizer was small and so-so. Server was awful. Never asked us if we wanted another drink, didn't remove dirty plates. We were trying again having not been in in at least a year. Big mistake. $100 wasted. Yuck. After reading a few of the less-than-stellar reviews here I was pleasantly surprised by a very nice Sunday brunch experience at the Brecon Grille. Fun Bloody Mary bar and both of our entrees were very good: porto bello mushrooms for my wife and corned beef hash for me. The service was attentive and friendly. The only - small - complaint was that the music was jacked up pretty high; maybe we were sitting under a speaker. Fortunately it was easy-listening rock from the 70s which we enjoyed. Disco at that volume, however, could have changed the whole experience. We'll go again. read more

Had a Groupon of Sunday Brunch - great selection (including Bloody Mary Bar and Mimosas). We had the Chef BLT and 1/2lb burger - both were served with house fries. Comfortable little place and you can sit outside if you like. We highly recommend this place if you like good food, good prices, good service and good atmosphere! read more

Brecon Grill is a quant and inviting looking eatery and watering hole located in downtown Saline at the corner of Michigan Ave. & Ann Arbor St. If dining in Saline, this is your only choice unless you want to drive to Ann Arbor or eat at Ruby Tuesdays or local pizza carry out places (Jett's is best). The food is a bit more upscale than pub-grub, well presented and tasty. Always busy and they take reservations. Brecon Grill is family orientated and the service is both good and friendly. When in the area we always eat there at least once. read more

We have eaten at the Brecon Grill in the past and it has been a generally positive experience. However, this evening we had dinner there and it was easily the worst meal in recent memory. I had the Corned Beef dinner with sauerkraut what was supposed to be roasted redskin potatoes. The corned beef was was hot and had been grilled so it was a bit dry (that was the good part of the meal). The sauerkraut was spoiled (strong metallic taste) and the redskin potatoes appeared to be potato cubes that were deep fried and were not good. My wife had the Salmon and it was barely warm when it arrived. The rice pilaf was just a pile of rice and very bland as were the "fresh chef vegetables". I'm convinced the waiter was aware of the low quality of the meal as he studiously ignored us for the next 20 minutes despite attempts to get his attention. Finally, a loud "Hey Waiter!" got him over. We explained the problem with the meal and he apologized (with no offer to make it right) and asked if we wanted more drinks. Instead we asked for the check. What happened to this place? No recognizable waitstaff and the waiter we had was in need of a new career. Based on this experience, we will not be returning. read more
