I get the same thing every time, Crispy Chili Rellenos with half hot and half mild Pork Green Chili. I can't speak for much else on the menu but the Rellenos have never disappointed. The Brewery Bar is a bar so remember that before you head over expecting to have a fancy dinner. Not a brewery. Barely a bar. It's a Mexican restaurant run by white people. They have good deals during happy hour, but so do many much better restaurants. The chips were white corn chips they probably got from Sam's Club. The nacho cheese must have come from a grade school cafeteria. I tried several other entrees but they were all pretty terrible. The beer selection includes one or two craft beers and several kinds of cheap crap (Coors, Miller, Bud). If you like getting drunk cheap, and before their 7:30pm closing time, this is the place for you. Better beer and food can be had at Breckenridge a few blocks north or The Rackhouse a few blocks south. read more

Love this place. They are known for their #1 Special and it is obvious why. The food is amazing and so are the margs that pack a punch. Now, the tostito brand chips and salsa are about as "Tacky Texas" as the decor, but the product is worth it. Bring your shades, the neon is is in full effect. Not sure what is up with the bad reviews? Maybe they all prefer the fake New Mexican food you can get at some of the other places in town or this neighborhood. Green Chile should be watery. Try and make some for yourself and see how it turns out. Thick green chile has flour, cornstarch, or some other crap added to it to get it that way. The chile has big chunks of pork in it. Very good and very hot. Everything I have ordered off the menu has been good. I will agree the chips and salsa leave a little to be desired but it's not the chips and salsa you go there for. I go here a few times a month for lunch. I have never had a service issue. The staff always remembers me and brings me my drink as they greet me at my table. Everyone I take there that likes New Mexican style Mexican food loves it. I recommend trying it if you aren't stuck on the Taco Bell or Chipotle style of Mexican food. read more

The Good: Regular green chili (lots of pork chunks and thin and runny, the way it's supposed to be (no thickeners) & the "Tiny Beer" The Bad: Hot green chili is just the regular + jalapenos (use real green chili for crying out loud; this ain't Texas) The Ugly: Don't even ask for shredded beef (they don't know what that is) Locals have supported this place forever. This restaurant is operated white people, so therefore, it should not be classified as a Mexican restaurant. The cook is Hispanic but that's it. The green chile has no flavor and is watered down making your burrito mussey. More like soup than chile. I found the help to be rude and curt. I use to go to this bar years ago when Abe was still the owner. He was always friendly and very welcoming and the food was very good. I will not return to this dive. This place has great green chile! Big chuncks of pork and any degree of spice you care for. The chips and salsa are nothing you will write home to mama about but face it, the Chile Rellenos make up for it! The bathrooms smell like a science project gone wrong so make sure you go before you visit the Brewery Bar. The service is very efficient. If you are looking for the servers to pump up your ego you will be sadly disappointed. They will take your order, get your food quickly and get you out the door so you can go use the restroom elsewhere. Remember it's all about the plates. read more

I've been going to the Brewery for quite a long time, and I find it excellent. Usually I order Huevos Racheros, with Green Chili, and yummy! The waiter's and waitress's are very nice, and since we are regulars, they always smile and strike up a conversation. Of course there are some things, and the menu that remain forbidden, because you never know what you might find in them! Overall I really think this is one of my favorites, especially because the green chili. It's worth the drive. read more

Love BBII! I have been coming here for for almost 25 years and still love the chili. The place is not fancy but the food and service are great and that's all that matters. The staff has seen my 2 kids grow up from newborns to teenagers and my kids never pass the chance to eat here. I like that the owner, cook, and waitresses have worked here for years and get to know the customers. (I think the Brewery Bars III & IV are too big to afford the homey feeling of this much older establishment.) The margaritas are the best, the green chili is loaded with chunks of pork and the atmosphere is friendly which is why I will drive 30 minutes from Thornton to eat here. read more

We have gone there since the early '70's every Saturday like clockwork for years, but moved across country so go every chance we get when we come back to town (counting the days now - a week from tomorrow!!!!) They have the very best - VERY BEST - half and half chili and chili rellenos. I know everything else is good but I ALWAYS order that because I just can't get enough. We knew the previous owners and we know the recipes are the same as they were all along. For Mexican food, this is the best place anywhere - even across the country. I had been going to the Brewery Bar II for over 35 years. I recently picked up some take-out the other Sunday and could not have been more disappointed. Apparently they have changed how the cook EVERYTHING. What used to be the best (hot) green chilli in Denver has become overpriced SWILL The cheese in my relleno was not even melted and it looked like it was baked unstead of fried as they should be. They forgot to put the enchelada in my combo meal. I ended up throwing the whole meal in the trash. I have gotten better meals from Taco Bell. I should have known something was up when I walked in. Usually on a Sunday, with football on it is standing room only. On this Sunday there were only 2 people in the place. read more

So we just moved here from Arizona a few months ago and were craving some good mexican food. Being new to town we rely on yelp to at least steer us the right direction and so far it hasn't failed us. Thanks Yelp! After a long day of skiing and a rather lengthy discussion we decided on this place as everyone seems to like it. I had high hopes as the reviews are great but seriously I just don't get it. I don't even know where to start. First, I swear they serve Tostitos Chips and Pace Picante as their "chips and salsa". Now I'm not knocking Tostitos or Pace but I just don't think it should be served at a mexican restaurant. The guacamole was more white than green, the green chile had no flavor and the chile rellenos tasted like a deflated balloon. I really don't understand why this place gets good reviews. The service was decent but the food is terrible. If I could give it a half star I would. After a long day, and really being in the mood for some killer mexican food this place made me want to cry! Since eating here I have discovered anther place "taqueria patzcuaro" which has renewed my faith in Denver. read more

They store towels to clean the tables in cubbies under the tables, not soaking in sanitizer so that's disgusting. I have been going to this place since the early seventies when I worked for D&RGW RR. Whenever I need the best crunchy Chile rellenos this is the place. I think they have the hottest green chili in town, I get half & half so I don't have to suffer the next day. If you need a comfort food fix this is the place. Years ago when Abe was alive they had a different cook and his enchilada sauce was the best I have ever had in my life, not so today. My grandma made the same sauce but took the recipe with her. My family has been eating at the Brewery Bar for over 30 years. I grew up hearing my father rave about their green chile and it's become a staple in my visit every time I'm in town. I will admit that I haven't veered away from the relleno with the green chile- I'm not sure why I would. It's absolutely delicious, inexpensive and totally filling. This is not the place to go if you're looking for prestine conditions and servers that are going to kiss your butt to get a good tip. Filthy. OK, that said, I'll also say that the food is pretty good (certainly not outstanding), and it was packed tonight (Friday) at 7:30, so maybe no one cares how dirty it is. But I do. Bathrooms a mess. Trash barrel unemptied and spilling over in plain sight of all patrons. The floor covered in chip detritus, dropped dirty dishes, discarded table checks, spilled salsa, everything. It smelled, and I don't mean in a good way. But it's been a success for 35 years, I guess. Can't someone just sweep up a little? Really unpleasant--we won't be back. And hey! I love Brewery Bar II. I had been going to the original Brewery Bar on Kalamath for years and years and was so excited when this location opened. Ever since, I have been a frequent diner here and bring all friends and family from out of town. No one has ever had a complaint. I love their salsa, green chile (which is either mild or hot) and the hot is HOT! I like hot food and they don't disappoint. The margaritas and frozen margaritas are amazing. Number 2 on my East of I-25 Tex-Mex tour. I'm admittedly skeptical. OK, Brewery Bar has one serious plus-the green chili. Great spice and flavor and a LOT of pork. 5 star, for sure. Unfortunately, my food was not very hot, and there was no soft relleno on the menu. Service? Very adequate. Marg was ok, nothing special. A little overpriced. I will be back for the chili, however, and if the burrito is nice and steaming hot, I'd give this place 4 stars. read more
