Went to Brews and Barrels for the first time yesterday for dinner. We have been meaning to try it out for some time. Glad they made it through the Covid period, they had opened up just as the shut down started. The inside is well done, a lot of attention to detail to make it a warm and inviting place to eat. We choose to eat outside which was fine except the radio station playing a bit loud. If you have music it should be just music without commercials, a bit annoying. The staff there were welcoming and service oriented. The chips with dip was a nice touch also. We both ordered burgers, mine with salad and my wife with mashed potatoes. The burger looked great and were well presented. The meat was juicy but a bit undercooked from the medium we had asked for. Both our burgers were overseasoned. Very salty almost to the point where they were not edible. The side salad was excellent, the mashed potatoes were bland. No offers for condiments and no salt or pepper at the table which was strange. Overall we were good with B&B and will probably come back. If you get the burger get it unseasoned. read more

Great location, layout, decor. Sincere staff in need of seasoning and an infusion of positive energy but that'll come I reckon. Plebeian food that is more a product of successful assembly and heating than kitchen craft. Not bad but not noteworthy. Miller/Bud centered beer menu. Upgrade the food and beverages and more stars will come. I really want this place to make it but what's on the plate and in the glass needs to be mmmm and aaahhhh rather yah I guess ok. One standout positive was the roasted Brussels sprout opener. read more

This place is really comfortable and fun. The bartenders are attentive and really nice. They have great drink deals and food specials throughout the week. They also have a nice outdoor area. They have done a great job during the pandemic to make sure everyone is safe. I would recommend to anyone! read more

A very nice spot in Kentlands-Gaithersburg. Food is great, specially that chicken piripiri, and the shrimp appetizer. The staff is AMAZING and shout out to the bartender Kyle who mix the most delicious cocktail, and doubles as the greatest DJ of all times. Not forgetting the terrific musicians playing each week. Walking into the space, I was immediately taken aback by the welcoming ambiance, framed by the wooden atmosphere. Natalie, our server was the perfect combination of attentive and feisty, with a biting humor that kept us on the edge of our seats. I appreciated her remembering my orders while also playing into the natural flow of conversation happening at the table. I'm so thrilled with the experience here that I will definitely come back when I visit and recommend to friends. Very happy with this new addition to the neighborhood and have gone 2 times now. I went during the week and sat at the bar. I only had a few drinks. The staff was very nice and helpful! Homemade chips were great!! Found the pricing both Happy Hour and regular menu to be very reasonable. Went again last night first Sunday open and Presidents' Day long weekend. A sign was posted saying they were having their soft opening to work out the kinks and give the staff practice. Place was packed and they were on a 40 minute wait so we started with a drink at the bar. We got a table in the bar area about 20 minutes later. Service was a bit slow but we understood knowing they just opened and again PACKED!! The hostess brought us over a plate of chips while we waited for the server. A young gal came over apologizing for the wait and took our order. The manager Marcus stopped by also apologizing and asked if we need anything. About 30-40 minutes later we got our food and it was worth the wait. Seared tuna and wings were very tasty!! Brussels sprouts were amazing!! Pulled pork sandwich was perfect size and very flavorful!! We also tried the pizza and spinach dip that were quite good!! While there were a few hiccups we will absolutely return, especially knowing the place is Local owned by someone living in the Kentlands. We hope other will also show support!! read more

It was my first visit here tonight. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures but the pictures wouldn't have mattered, the food is absolutely amazing! We ordered the yum yum shrimp, Tex mex eggs rolls, Brussels sprouts, tacos, and coconut pie. No complaints about any of it! Great margaritas, sangria, and bourbon drinks. Highly recommend! Average to low end food for the price. I got the crab pretzel and it was supposed to be two crab covered pretzels. It was a plain pretzel with a crab-ish pretzel on top. I say crabish because it was covered in a mayonnaise old bay mixture with literally next to no crab. For 16$. read more

Take out order all wrong. Missing items and all the food was mediocre at best. Actually the Food was awful. Was on hold 20 minutes in attempt to order (website says to call in take out), then disconnected - had to go there and place order and wait. NOT worth the wait or the price. read more

First of all we tried to call in an order for pick up but after being on hold for 20 minutes the call was dropped. Then we drove to the restaurant to place an order for takeout. The order was almost entirely wrong. They forgot a side, the fries were the soggiest fries I've ever had, and to top it off the "side house salad" that came with the pulled pork sandwhich, was sitting underneath the sandwhich in the take out box. Leaving the salad dressed in bbq sauce. The food itself was mediocre at best. We don't plan on coming back any time soon. read more

I hate to give a bad review and I almost never do but the food at this place was less than mediocre in terms of quality, taste, and temperature. I ordered a burger and my husband ordered eggs with avocado and toast. There were few people in the restaurant bc we ate at an off time. The music was playing at a loud volume given how empty the place was (it was also set to a rap station when we got there; we think it changed at some point). The waiter was nice, but the food and atmosphere were not. Sadly, we won't return. read more

This place was fantastic! It was me and my husbands first time dining here. We are local to the area and have always wanted to check this place out! We started out with the southwestern egg rolls and they were amazing! Full of flavor, crisp, served with mango salsa. I had a $5 orange crush which was delicious. We got the bbq burger and bourbon chicken flatbread pizza to share. The pizza was very good but I couldn't stop eating the burger!! One of the best burgers I've ever had and i would have to compare it with Quarry House in Silver Spring. It was juicy and tasted so good. We couldn't finish the pizza so we took it home and also ordered the apple dessert (can't remember the exact name) and it was amazing as well. Every table was 6 feet apart, servers wore masks and gloves. There was even hand sanitizer on the outdoor tables as well as inside the restaurant. They also had cute lights outside that they turned on around 7:00. This has to be one of my favorite restaurants, I really can't wait to go back and try new things! read more

My husband, Wes and I are in town shopping when we stumbled upon Brews & Barrels with outdoor seating. It was a wonderful find. To our surprise, we were given homemade potato chips with a fresh dill dip. I ordered the homemade with seasonal vegetables veggie burger. It actually came with two patties so I'm taking half of it home to enjoy later. The burger came with fries that was just the right amount of crispness and seasoning. Wes ordered a shrimp appetizer and was amazed at the large number of shrimp served on this dish. All of the foods and drinks was delicious. Dena, our waitress was so knowledgeable, pleasant, attentive and professional. Thank you Dena! Thank you Brews & Barrels for having outdoor seating and delicious food. My husband and I sat outside. The heat lamps kept the evening comfortable. The service was good. The waitress was nice and helpful. Food came out warm and quickly. One of our drinks had a bug in it and had to be replaced. After we received our food, I noticed a number of Covid-related issues. I watched a busser "wipe down" seating after guests left. She barely wiped down all of the surfaces. I watched a number of waiters with food going in and out of the restaurant with their gloves on after guests had touched the door handle. The food was ok. I didn't care for the fish that I ordered. The dessert coffee was ok. My husband did enjoy his meal and his drinks. A small band was setting up just as we were leaving. read more

Not a great experience for a first and probably only visit. We were excited to see a new brewhouse in the area but were sadly disappointed when we saw the beer selection. If you love trying new beers this is not the place for you. My boyfriend got a BBQ burger, which when it came out was completely plain since they forgot to put anything on it before sending it out. I got the steak salad which had grisly cold steak (should have been warm) on top that you couldn't even chew. The server was super nice and very apologetic for the burger mistake and comped us a dessert, but all I can say is dont get the cheesecake, it tasted like the boxed jello mix stuff. The service wasn't great but that is expected during these times if you dine out but the food was exceptionally bad overall. Only saving grace was the whiskey cocktails were well made. read more

The atmosphere was great! I really love the decor as it makes you feel like you are in a hunting lodge. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious!! The chips were crispy and not oily. We had the crab dip which was yummy! The pulled pork sandwiches tasted like barbecue chips, just the right amount of sweet and salty. The Caesar Salad with shrimp was light and fresh. The desert we had was the chocolate cake and cinnamon apple fritters and was so Rick and delicious!!! Overall an amazing experience! Love this place! read more

Stopped in tonight for drinks. It was pretty crowded for 9 pm on a weeknight but we found a seat in the bar and we were served complimentary house made kettle chips and water right away. The drinks menu has a nice selection of really interesting cocktails. This was our second visit and each drink we have tried so far has been great! The sweetheart sour is especially delicious. I enjoyed the Kentlands Boulevardier tonight - it has a nice, slightly bitter citrus taste similar to a Negroni. The beer and wine menu looks fairly extensive, and there are a lot of different bourbons and whiskey. The service was very friendly and attentive. The servers are not completely knowledgeable about the different drinks - but they did go and ask the bartenders and then they got the answers to my questions. I can't comment on the food since we haven't tried it yet - but it looks like they have some good happy hour specials and we will definitely come back soon to try the food and more cocktails! Seems like this will be a great place to hang out and I like that it is open late. Until recently, everything in the Kentlands closed too early. read more

My son and I tried this place on a busy Friday night for the first time. Service was amazing, and the food was perfectly prepared and so tasty! We had zero complaints about our food (we did note that we were paying downtown D.C. prices for food but the restaurant was blaring a classic rock radio staion. So the cool, almost homey ambience was taken down a few notches when every 5-10 minutes or so, we'd be blasted with a distracting advertisement to refinish our deck or gutters, etc. You'd think for these prices, the owners could afford Spotify?) But the service and food had us so impressed that we went home and told the rest of our family how great it was and that we'd found a new spot. FAST FORWARD ONE WEEK LATER . . . and WOW, what a difference!!!! Night and day. We returned, the rest of our family in tow to celebrate a new job, after having hyped this place up so much. It was a much slower Thursday night, so things were looking up when were were seated immediately. Turns out, not so much. Our waiter constantly disappeared and when we finally got our apps (not finger food), we still didn't have utensils and had to wait until the apps were cold to get any. It didn't matter anyway, because the brussel sprouts we ordered were not only strangely dressed in bland black beans (as in wet and watery, straight out of the can) which didn't go with/match the flavor profile of the crispy sprouts, but were also swimming in a super-salty (soy?) sauce/dressing that had no flavor and was so salty it was bitter. I ordered an old fashioned (my favorite drink) but it came to me a strange pinkish color and was so sweet it was undrinkable. My son and I ordered the same dishes we had ordered and loved previously hoping to have a repeat experience at least with these dishes, but this time around we weren't so lucky. It was terrible. Just as he had done with the brussel sprouts, it seemed that the chef emptied an entire container of salt into the steak salad dressing and the ground meat mix for the burgers. Gross! (The steak on the salad was well done, chewy meat- not medium as ordered.) My son's gf ordered a veggie burger, which tasted pretty much the same as everything else - salty. It was also very dry and tasted like cardboard; we are pretty sure it was a frozen patty from the grocery store, as it was not at all fresh. The only thing that they seemed to be consistent about was that tacky radio staion- the loud commercial breaks were just as disruptive this time around. We spent almost $200 on the dinner for four, and could barely eat anything. I can't decide if our recent visit was just an "off" night, or if the first visit was a fluke. Either way, with those prices and that level of inconsistency, we think we'll keep looking for our local spot. read more

First time ordering from restaurant and food arrived to our home cold, which I guess is the delivery drivers fault. It would've been nice if they called to let us know that they were not going to include the Mediterranean flatbread in the order otherwise we would've cancelled order altogether. Happened to be in the area and noticed that this place was open. Decided to stop in and give it a try. We got the Happy Hour egg rolls that were very tasty. I had the Reuben and my wife had the burger. We both enjoyed our meals. We were not out for anything fancy, just some drinks and basic food. They had some more fancy entrees on the menu, but this was fine for us. I found the Reuben very good. I noted a review here earlier where the reviewer was not a fan of this sandwich. I was a fan. Service was excellent. We had Natalie and she was very attentive and efficient but not intrusive. Other people stopped by our table to check on us and make sure nothing was left on the table that we were not using. Short one star due to the fact that were out of many of their draft beers. It is a soft opening so I suspect this is just growing pains and will improve. Overall, I highly recommend this place and am very glad that it opened. The Kentlands seems to be really trying to increase their business. I hope they are successful. I will definitely come back to this place. read more
