From the moment I landed in KC I knew I was going to be having alot of BBQ, but on the day I took a break from bbq and had a burger, I chose very well! The whole experience here for me was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and had a good vibe with well placed TV's to keep up with the ball games while dining. The waitress and manager, I assume, were very good, knowledgeable of the menu and provided great suggestions. There is a reason the restaurant's name is BRGR, because they specialize in burgers. My dining companion chose the grilled cheese and lobster, which was different, yet very good and also very rich. I ordered the shoe string onion rings and received a huge basket full, enouhh to share with 2 or 3 others. For my burger, I had two choices that I narrowed on and at the suggestion of my waitress, I went with the bbq burger (hey, it's KC, right?!), toped with Swiss cheese, bbq sauce (not too much) and shoes string onion rings. I must say the burger did not disappoint! It was very juicy and cooked perfectly to order. I also must mention, the adult beverages were in point, I indulged in some local brew, while my companion had an adult carmel vanilla milk shake, made with Kahlua and some other liquors. 2nd time here and I have to say our service was waaaaayyy better then the first time. Our waiter did a great job. However, 3 of the 4 in our group had a stale bun on our burgers. The buns literally fell apart they were so dry. My fat dawg burger with pastrami was good separate of the bun. We also had the trio of onion rings, fries and tots which were awesome. And we shared an order of fried pickles which were the best I've had. They even throw in some fried jalapeños and banana peppers which were really good. I loved this place! The inside was cool, great place for a large group to hang out. The menu was interesting and a lot of things to choose from. The beer selection is pretty decent, even though everything's in a can, but still good. I got the Root Beer and was in love. This is the younger version of the Prairie Village gourmet burger restaurant. The menu is filled with an arrangement of imaginative burger selections plus some other sandwiches and even steak and shrimp dishes. No complaints here, but I kind of miss the Outside / In Burger from the other location. Also, as per its other location, there is a decent beer selection, but it only comes in cans. I will say they've done a lot with a small space. I was in at kind of an off time so I was okay, but it really looks like it can get crowded during peak times. Definitely would go here again! Slightly pricey but the food is very worth it. Get the side combo it easily feeds 4-5 people as a side and saves lots of money. I got the funky chicken and I'm a bit of a chicken sandwich expert and this one is damn good. Little heat on it but not too hot to where you lose flavor and have a burning mouth. Makes me sound like a fatty but if I love a sandwich I want to be able to eat it at my own speed and if it's too spicy making me slow down that's just a turn off. This sandwich has that right amount of heat with some very refreshing pickles that pop when you're biting through it. May be one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had my only critique is the meat is a tad dry but the sauce and pickles helped me forget that. read more

There are reviews here saying that the service was 'super'. this was NOT the case tonight. We were sat in the cocktail section of the bar, a booth. Our server was no where to be seen for about 5-10 minutes, when she did come around it took another 5 minutes to get our waters (shakes came a couple minutes after that) then it took another 15 minutes for her to take our order. we sat and talked for 30 minutes or longer wondering where our food was, or our server or literally anyone who worked there. Finally our server comes back and says she forgot to put our order in.... at this point we were starving. When the food came years later it was actually pretty good but then we ran out of water and weren't checked on AT ALL. we had been there for 2 hours at this point. she barely spoke to us, we were clearly the only table in the entire section. There wasn't a single employee in site for majority of the meal. Myself and my friend are both servers so we can totally understand a couple mistakes but this was an AWFUL experience. good food tho :) read more

Such a good spot! Stopped in because I was staying in the neighborhood and it might have been my favorite part of my whole trip to KCMO. The servers were super friendly and we were able to sit outside and people watch during our meal. Not too loud with traffic and perfect on a nice day. Stopped here while in KC for work. The space is large and can definitely handle crowds with plenty of seating and a large U shaped bar. Started off with a local draft and a side of bourbon to prime myself for the impending starter order of "Pig Wings", which were the highlight of the night (yes really) at this burger stop. The Pig Wings consist of thick riblets trimmed at the bone so you have an end to grab. The sweet and deliciously sticky sauce complemented the crispy fried exterior and the soft juicy meat of the rib. Served with a spicy Thai-style dipping sauce, I could have just ordered another set and called it a night but in a place with this name, I figured I'd order a burger. I went with the restaurant original style burger with the upgraded locally sourced cow and added some truffle tots to the mix. It was an Ok burger, the issue being that the sesame seed bun was left plain out of the bag and not warmed up, so it tasted a little stale which obscured the well cooked burger and toppings. Though the flavor was good, I couldn't tell why it was premium meat. However, this place is still 4-star worthy because of those riblets. If you're in the area and just want to grab a drink at a bar and a small bite and skip off to the next stop on a crawl then make this a destination. read more

Stayed in a hotel downtown and wanted somewhere close so we decided on BRGR. Staff was friendly in getting us seated on the patio when we asked if we could sit outside. We stuck with waters but I got the Mac and cheese with sausage and truffle fries, my date got the cinco de mayo burger and sweet potato tots. The food was great - loved the Mac n cheese, our fries and tots were great, and my date had nothing but good things to say about his burger (it smelt and looked good, a little jealous I didn't get it myself!). My only complaint is that our waitress was a not very attentive, it took her quite a while to bring us water when we were out and to bring us a to-go box and our checks. Great food, slow service. Two thumbs up for the best burger I had in my entire life. After I tasted this amazing taste, I went back to here two more times. I ordered juicy Lucy, it was the best burger I tasted so far. All three times I asked for medium cooked. Fries are extra, but they worth the money. They also make their own ketchup and mustard, they were very tasty. They have regular restaurant seating, outdoor seating and bar seating. There are TVs on the wall showing sports. Most people like to see themselves sitting on a beach, in a hammock, drinking an ice cold beer and staring off into the ocean abyss. While I would concur, I would be just as happy if you stuck me on the patio of BRGR with any one of their burgers, a side of sweet potato and truffle fries, drinking a Boulevard beer and staring directly into Power & Light district while listening to the music being played. This place is a total BRGR bliss and the location is prime. Although the inside decor and ambiance gives off a great vibe, it's tough for me to turn down their patio seating and if you've ever sat on their patio then you understand why. The corner view in the heart of Power and Light district is stunning and, depending on what time you go, can be equally amusing. Something serene and pleasant about sitting outside on this patio while everybody is walking by, beautifully dressed, with the music in the background and the sounds of the city providing white noise. Everybody is busy getting some where and you're sitting there, relaxing, taking in your surroundings. I had the Cinco De Mayo burger (chorizo & beef patty, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, avocado, tortilla strips, corn bun, grilled jalapeno) and it's muy bien. I've never had the option to turn my sweet potato fries into sweet potato tots, but BRGR has created a delicious monster with this crafty creation. The texture of the tot as opposed to the fry is a bit crunchier and, for me, a nice variety to a sweet fry. Also, the truffle fries are fantastic -- though I've never had a disappointing experience in all my times ordering truffle fries. After being here and reading reviews, I do share the same sentiment as Abby P. does regarding the service being MIA during my visit. I hate when service is bad but food is good. This was my second time here... This time I actually ate. I got the Cinco De Mayo burger, and my girlfriend got the Knob Hill. and we got sweet potato fries ( YES I love SWEET POTATOES!) Food was great, it was worth the wait... However the buns were kind of salty. The caramelized onions on the Knob Hill were so sweet and oh so yummy!! The food did take a while for it to come out, but it's okay I understand it's gonna take awhile. Here are the downside.... 1) service was bad, at least my server was horrible. Only came by to get our drink and food order... then stopped by again when we just got our food to ask how it was. 2) SMH, when I got my glass of wine, he just dropped it off and didnt say anything, I tried to look for him again to tell him my glass was dirty, like rim in all. So I just went to the bar and ask the bartender to change it out... btw I got a Merlot, told that to the bartender and he was like... "is this it?" pull up a bottle of Malbec -_- OMG the bartenders didn't know their wines. They had to ask each other. I ended up getting a Malbec, because I was too annoyed to even care I just wanted WINE 3) Never saw my server when I needed him Good new, the runner that bought out our food was great and super fast... Everything was amazing! I Went here with family after a convention and its was fulfilling and delicious at good pricing. I got the Farmhouse salad with chicken, it was so good. Well, the chicken is juicy and full of flavor and the right amount of spice. The tator tots are also really good and good for sharing with people. This is my favorite burger place in KC. We've been twice in the Before Times, then again this weekend. My burger is always cooked to request, and so juicy. Friendly service, love the fries and tots. I'm so grateful they're open now during COVID. If you are a germ freak like me, you will appreciate their safety precautions right now. The outdoor patio seating is spaced out, and we felt completely safe there. No condiments sitting out on the tables, but available upon request. The patio doors were open, allowing ventilation of the indoor restaurant, where the seating was also very spaced out. This was only my third time dining out during COVID times, and I'm really grateful we were able to have such a delicious meal while feeling safe. read more

I would absolutely give this place 5 stars except our fries were way over cooked.
