Winter Park is a upscale quaint town and has many fine shops and eateries along it's center on Park Avenue. Briarpatch is one of its finest in this fashionable resort town. It is not unusual to have to wait for a seat inside or on its front sidewalk patios where great food and the world of fashion meet. A touch of Southern classic cuisine such as pecan pancakes, and eggs benedict or green fried tomatoes are among their best sellers. The home fries won me over with a side of sausage and eggs and adding a Bloody Mary can make a mid morning bright. Inside is not the best place for conversationalist due to noise level but the food will keep you silent as it is very delicious. read more

I have heard about this place all over YELP and from people all over orlando and today I finally got to experience the brunch here. It was delicious! I had the Salmon Eggs Benedict and my friend had the steak and eggs meal. Everything was cooked to perfections. I am not a typical fan of grits because most restaurants under season them, but boy these grits were the best i've had in a long time. The Eggs benedict was so yummy, you could tell everything was made fresh. The steak was phenomenal, it was recommended to be served the way the chef recommended and it was phenomenal. This is a very busy restaurant in Winter Park and is definitely worthy of the hype. I have had both breakfast and lunch and it was delicious both times. With a very extensive menu, it is always such a hard decision. Both times, I ordered something that I thought would just be average based on the basic selection haha (a salad and an omelet) but both times they were literally SO delicious and my expectations were exceeded, for sure. They make a pretty decent dirty chai latte, as well :) The ambiance is definitely very busy and you can tell it's a popular spot. Despite not accepting reservations, I have not had difficulty getting in quickly, sitting almost right away. My reasoning for knocking a star is unfortunately the service. Although everyone we've encountered is very nice, the overall service has always been pretty iffy. The staff is not very attentive, I feel, and it could have been coincidentally two off days for our respective servers. But I felt very forgotten about. The second visit, we sat there for literally 20 minutes before someone came over. Because I was catching up with someone I hadn't seen in a while, it wasn't the end of the world, and thankfully someone realized that we had been sitting and immediately came over and took care of us when realizing, because I hate to be the person who has to go up to say something. She was really sweet and was great, and I don't think it was her fault. But both times it felt like -- better ask for what you need when someone is there because they won't be back around for a while. I'll take it over rude service, for sure, and it is never bad enough to stop me from returning, especially considering the great menu, but it is definitely worth noting. read more

I came with a group of 5 for Saturday brunch on Valentine's Day weekend. There was a line out the door which we expected. What we didn't expect was how quickly we were seated. They offered to accommodate us at a 4 person table which we appreciated (we were hungry) so we could sit faster. The food was incredible. We ordered multiple plates - not one missed. I don't think I'm easily impressed with food and restaurants. Most of the time, places with this many good reviews I find to be overhyped. But this place did not disappoint. We had the torta sandwich, pork belly waffle, lemon and raspberry pancakes, and the boys got burgers. Everything was incredible. My favorite was the torta sandwich. The brisket on it was to die for. I will be dreaming about it for the next week. The pork belly on the waffle was insane - perfect. Pancakes were delicious. So well done. I didn't try the burgers but the men were raving over it. Given how delicious the three dishes I tried were, I have no doubt the burgers were just as good. Service was also excellent! I have been to briarpatch many times and have never left with a single complaint. The food is always filling and delicious and the rotating seasonal menus are fantastic. My service has always been excellent and while there may be a long line to get seated I've never waited more than 20 minutes. The Briarpatch is a delicious brunch option in Winterpark. Situated in strip shopping area and directly across from a park, there's plenty opportunity to walk off the amazing food! There is inside and outside seating. Outside is right on the walkway, as with all of the restaurants on the strip. The inside is kind of small, but manageable with clean restrooms and trendy decor. We sat outside as it was a nice March morning. My husband had the Cremini Mushroom Breakfast Sandwich with home fries. He loved the sandwich, noting that the eggs were well cooked, there was a nice amount of mushrooms, bread was nice and the home fries were perfect. I, too, had the home fries, which were absolutely phenomenal: perfectly crispy outside, soft inside, perfectly seasoned. The bacon was good-not fatty, well cooked, and the Brown Butter Belgian Waffle...ohmahgoodness, ohmahgoodness! This waffle was delicious-soft, chewy, crunchy in all the right ways. Beautiful buttery flavor and a wonderful syrup. I would have loved to visit them for dinner, but we'll have to do that on our next visit. Little did I know that my wife had been gatekeeping me from this place to have brunch with her girlfriends and she is not even a breakfast person! I am a southerner who grew up on the old adage that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Let me start by saying there's a reason why there's always a line for weekend brunch... it's that good! Luckily my friends and I arrived around 9am, before the crowd starts to form. Let's say for Sunday Brunch it's packed and busy!! However the staff does a great job with handling the load and try they're best to get everyone seat in a timely manner. However, the restaurant was quite crowded, and we had to wait in a physical line to be seated, which was a bit inconvenient. Our party consisted of two adults, one child, and an infant. The service was just okay; the staff brought us three glasses of water and didn't provide a plastic cup for our child. I had to ask for the plastic cup for the kid. For the food, we ordered Short Rib Benedict, Crimini Mushroom Sandwich and Strawberry and peach waffle. It's very delicious and the portion is big. I feel quite thirsty by the end of the meal, possibly due to the seasoning or MSG used in the food. I also like the drink- Rise and shine, you have to try it! Despite these minor issues, we still enjoyed our visit. The quality of the food definitely made up for the shortcomings in service. Our flight got in around 11 and this was our first stop--before even seeing their home. Long line, but it moved. She got a big stack of the pancakes so we all could try. Disappointing Experience - Would Not Return We visited this restaurant on Sunday, August 2025, during a family weekend in Winter Park. We were really looking forward to a nice breakfast. My husband dropped us off at the front while he went to find parking. I had my 3-year-old on a tricycle and my 9-year-old walking with me. As we entered, we were immediately told the tricycle could not be left anywhere near the restaurant. I called my husband, but he had already parked far away, so I had no choice but to leave the tricycle a few doors down by a bench. When we returned and approached the host stand, I was told we could not be seated until our entire party was present. I explained that my husband was just parking and asked if we could sit, as the kids were hungry and getting upset. The host refused, citing policy. I even offered to sit at a table for three and have my son sit on my lap temporarily. Again, I was told no. At this point, my 3-year-old was crying, and my 9-year-old was visibly frustrated. I asked to speak with a manager, hoping for some understanding, but he was just as rigid and unhelpful. His only suggestion was that we could order food to go at the bar. As a mom trying to care for my kids, I did just that--I ordered food at the bar while they sat and I stood beside them. Moments later, my husband arrived. I quickly explained what had happened. The manager then came back and said, "When the people leave, you can sit there," referring to the bar". At that point, we had already lost our appetite and decided not to order anything else. I later emailed the owners, Celeste and Joe, and received a follow-up call from Santiago, who was very kind and apologetic. He acknowledged that we should not have been denied seating, especially after I offered a reasonable solution to accommodate us. I appreciated his understanding, but the experience had already left a sour impression. This was a very sad and disappointing morning for our family, and unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

WOW! This place exceeded all expectations. The Nutella Waffle was to die for and paired very nicely with my creamy espresso martini. I've been going to this place for a while and I love it. Everything is really great, but there is a line and no reservation system (FYI). The longest I've ever waited with two (2) people is 30/45 min and for three (3) around an hour. The food is what keeps me coming back - even though I seem to always get the Pork Belly Waffles. I always love it and it's always delicious. The ambiance is great, but it is always very loud inside due to the small space (not bad) and the amount of people. I love to sit outside and enjoy it a little more in the Florida sun. So far, I haven't ever had a bad experience. I pray one day they will get reservations or call ahead. read more

This is a go-to brunch spot for me and my friends. The food is ALWAYS delicious, and it's very popular for locals. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday is obviously the busiest time, so plan accordingly. The longest I've had to wait as a walk-in on a Sunday was 45 minutes, which considering the circumstances was a given, but it obviously is not anyone's first choice (vs. a reservation). It's not like this every time, but still something to keep in mind at one of the best brunch spots in town! The restaurant itself is pretty narrow as well, so if you come in on a busy day, be prepared for it to be loud and a bit crowded. But, it's all worth it!!!!!! I'd understand if they ran out of an item towards the end of the day but in the morning, this is just unacceptable. Added an over priced gratuity for a small party and the amount they charged didn't reflect the quality of service. This used to be my favorite place to eat.
