I have heard so many wonderful things about Briarpatch and was excited to come here for the first time. We went on a Sunday around 2pm so the wait wasn't too long for a table for 4 people. They had indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside because it was a hot day. I ordered the nutella waffle, my husband got the very berry french toast, and my kids got chocolate chip pancakes. I was amazed at how big the portion sizes were. We easily took home leftovers for another day. The food was delicious but my husband's french toast came out a little overcooked and it was very sweet for him. Maybe the combination of the sweet berries, syrup, and mascarpone was a bit much. Started my "me weekend" off with brunch here. I was warmly and promptly greeted by the host, seated right away, and handed a menu. The service from start to finish was amazing. I ordered the Southwest Omelette, which came stuffed with chorizo sausage, cheese, beans, and avocado. It was flavorful, though a bit too heavy on the cheese for my taste. I also tried the waffle, it was fluffy but I was hoping for a little more crispiness around the edges. Dinner | The first time we had dinner at Briarpatch, it was a great experience. The Caesar salad was truly the BEST Caesar salad ever. At the time, we had this cheesecake, which was amazing. Everyone at the table was fighting for a piece. The prices were definitely on the higher side. Since we had such a great time the first time, we decided to go again three months later. However, the dishes tasted a bit different. The truffle fries and salmon tartare were still amazing, but the Caesar salad that I loved the first time tasted completely bitter. I'm pretty sure it was the lettuce, but it was inedible, which was a letdown. The burger and fish entrée (I can't remember the name, but it's shown in the picture) were delicious. Unfortunately, they didn't have the cheesecake this time. My family and I weren't as happy as we hoped to be, especially considering how much I hyped up the Caesar salad. Finally got to try the dinner service and luckily it was just as good as the brunch! We made a later on a Thursday night for 6 but it was almost completely dead. The vibe was elevated with table lighting resembling candles and a smooth instrumental playlist. Our server, Jean-Baptiste was incredible and made amazing recommendations. The menu for food and drinks had lots of great choices and everything came quickly. Some of our favorites included the short ribs, filet, and halibut. The drinks were all tasty and beautifully presented. All the desserts were great but the cheesecake (which seemed to use the same jam as the lemon raspberry cream pancakes) and the tiramisu were especially amazing. We've been to this place so many times in the last 4 years, I can't believe I haven't left a review! I highly recommend getting a reservation even if you don't think it would be busy. Yesterday (Monday/Presidents Day) we went at 10:30am and I was thankful we had reservations as the line had extended out the door and past the building. (Which is common especially on weekends). We both ordered the California Benedict (applewood smoked bacon, roasted cherry tomato, avocado, chip hollandaise, stone-ground heirloom grits or home fries). However I don't eat bacon and the waitress recommended to replace it with Chicken Sausage. Which will now be my go to! This is hands down my favorite local brunch place to eat at. I want to publicly share a very disappointing experience I had today at Briarpatch Restaurant in Downtown Winter Park that should concern all dog owners in the area and potential patrons. During a severe heat advisory alert I was told by multiple staff members that they see explicitly forbidden of giving water to any dogs in any container. No cups, no to go containers, no water at all. It seems the owner here absolutely HATES dogs to the point of actually giving their staff such cruel orders. Besides staff had a certain attitude of entitlement (not sure why) Needless to say, I left deeply disappointed. I hope the restaurant's management reconsiders this policy and remembers that a little humanity, and compassion for animals, goes a long way. I do have to mention our waitress (unlike the rest of staff) was the ONLY good thing about our experience here, she was actually very kind and the service she provided was great. They are serving the food so fast that I don't feel my waffle was cooked all the way so I took two bites and gave up. The pancake was cooked but too doughy for me. This is by far the best place so far to eat during my trip to Florida, despite it being day 2. The interior looked and felt luxurious in a good way. The employees were nice as always, and the fact that it only took 7 MINUTES to get my food is AMAZING. The burger was very filling, very flavorful, but the MVP was definitely the truffle sauce. The fries were crispy and salty, with THEIR RANCH ALSO BEING MVP LEVEL, i can taste a lot of dill which I enjoyed. The bacon is perfectly cooked, and the biscuits with honey butter are a must-try. The pancakes are beautiful and tasty, though very heavy. The bigger question: is it worth an hour-long wait? For us, probably not. While the food is excellent, it's also very pricey (for example, orange juice is $10). There are plenty of places that do a great brunch without charging as much. I actually found parking very easily, but it could be because it was a Friday morning and not a weekend. I saw the bright yellow awning of Briarpatch, and gave a quick search for reviews and saw that it was highly rated so I gave it a try. I was seated quickly on the outdoor patio at an umbrella table. All of the menu looked delicious, but I chose to go with the pecan waffle. One thing for sure, you cannot complain that they are chintzy with the pecans! The pecans are not in the waffle batter, but there is likely a full cup of butter toasted pecans piled on top! In fact, I could barely finish all of the pecans, so I scooped them up in a to go box for later. Halfway through my breakfast, it started to rain, and then it started to pour. As the rain began falling, my waiter came out and encouraged me to move to a table still outside, but under the roof where it was more protected. I was glad I did when it really started to pour. Everything we had was incredible. The Caesar salad is the best I've had in a long time. We all had different dishes and nobody was unhappy with their decisions. I felt like the staff was struggling to move around the tables because there was a lot of people. There were also a couple of flies that were just Swarming around the inside of the restaurant, but outside was extremely hot and we didn't want to sit out there, I do think with the place as busy as this they definitely should make sure that there are no flies in the restaurant but outside of that it is a great place to eat, and I would recommend it. read more

I had lunch with my friend Beth and we could not stop talking about the fresh and tasty food, Also their amazing hospitality. This is located in the heart of Winter Park on Park Avenue so parking is limited but not impossible. The restaurant has a sidewalk veranda for outdoor dining and its menu is great for a brunch as they serve breakfast and lunch items. You have to try their chunky salad and I hear they have outstanding burgers too. I can't wait to bring my husband for his favorite red velvet cake on his birthday! For our next Orlando adventure, we were taken to The Briar Patch for brunch. Since it was nice outside, that's where we decided to eat. Our server, Juliana, welcomed and informed us about some of the menu choices. I went with the Spinach, Goat Cheese, and Sausage Omelet. OMG! The omelet was cooked perfectly, light and fluffy the spinach and goat cheese gave it just the right amount of tang, and went so well with my wife's Banana Pecan Pancakes. These were among the very best pancakes I have ever had, and a big plus is that they were hot and stayed hot! Thai Banana Syrup was so flavorful. My wife's son had the traditional Eggs Benedict, and judging by the way he inhaled it, it had to be good. He also ordered a side of two sausage patties, which looked great. His wife got the Southern Breakfast, which consisted of eggs, bacon, cheesy grits, and a fried green tomato. She raved about it. Juliana kept our coffee and water refilled so o didn't have to try and find her. This place is located on Park Avenue in Winter Park, which has several restaurants. On this visit I tried the spicy roast beef sandwich, and I wish this were a regular menu item. It featured peppers, tomato, arugula, burrata, and a sauce that complemented the high pile of roast beef perfectly.
