I haven't been here in years and it's so much better than I ever remember. It packed at lunchtime on this chilly Friday and the waitstaff was hustling. At first glance I was concerned we would have to wait for a table and then wait even longer for our orders, that was not the case at all. We were lucky to be seated right away at a 2 seater booth over by the counter, the booth was a little cramped but I was with my Mom and not a coworker so it was OK with us. We placed our orders and everything came out at the perfect pace. First our drinks, then our soups then coffee and water refills. As we were taking our last bites of our soups our entrees came out nice and freshly prepared. I had a buffalo chicken wrap with fries and it was great, the chicken was fresh and the fries were hot and crispy. I can't forget to mention how delicious my matzoh ball soup was too! Bridgewater Diner seems to have raised their standards, ingredients, coffee and waitstaff included. Fountain Iced Tea, tasted so strongly of chlorine that there was no other taste. We could have Fresh brewed "organic" iced tea for $8.00. Place was packed but price and taste drove us out. The food was par for what I would expect in a diner. The prices were a little expensive, but I chalked that up to inflation. I ordered the filet mignon dinner with a french onion soup, which was on the higher end of their pricing. Since the meal was good, I let my server upsell me a dessert muffin to go, which I received in a small box. I ended with about half of my meal uneaten, and asked to take it out. I was given a medium sized box that I had to stuff everything inside. I asked for a bag to carry out the two boxes I had, and was given a small brown paper bag that i could only fit the medium sized box into sideways, but not the muffin box. I clumsily took the two boxes to the register to pay. I saw a patch handle bag with someone's to go order in it, and asked if I could have one of those. The woman at the register told me that those bags were for "to go" orders only. As I picked up my original bag, I noticed it was leaking all over and showed her. Without any conversation, she proceeded to give me the same type of bag I had already. In the parking lot, the new bag started leaking again, and I almost dropped the muffin box trying to maneuver it all into my car. Luckily I had an old plastic bag in my trunk, otherwise I would have had to throw out my leftovers. My friend and I spent $65 and I left a hefty $20 tip at this restaurant since my server was nice. I will not be returning, and it is over their bag policy. I'm sure that bag would not have cost them more than $1. read more

Coming in there's cute little tables outside, inside is nice and pretty renovated but still a diner feel. no muggy smell or weird vibe. The waiter was super cool ! Dave is the man to have. The server I had earlier today had a horrible attitude and was incredibly rude. I asked for over easy eggs without runny yolk and got met with "thats not what it's called, your wrong. I've been in the service for 40 years and never heard them referred to as that." I didn't know what to say because he obviously understood what I was asking for, but wanted to go on some ego trip about eggs. I ended up saying " I learn something new every day." Trying to get him to leave us alone but he kept circling making comments about how I asked for my eggs wrong. When I went to go to the bathroom the server thought it would be a good time to go complain to my girlfriend about me. (She is a server and couldn't believe how he was acting). He went up to her to say how he had to correct other guests because they had asked for "pop" instead of soda. It is just disappointing I was born in Bridgewater and going to that dinner ever since I could remember and it was always a pleasant experience until today. Excellent classic Jersey diner. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner for two diner classics. The pizza burger and turkey club. Both were perfect. Look at the turkey on that sandwich. And the Bacon! Wow. Hamburger cooked as requested with proper ratio of sauce to mozzarella to hamburger. Scrumptious. Service was excellent, food hot and tasty. We will be back. Total $25. At the recommendation of a colleague, I decided to give the Bridgewater Diner a try. My Sunday brunch was delicious - I ordered a Florentine Omelette, side of bacon and coffee. Everything was outstanding, and I particularly give the coffee high grades for being served up hot and strong. The service was friendly and efficient and I enjoyed a nice conversation with the hostess on my way out. In this era of COVID, the staff was adhering to safety protocols, and there were empty tables to accommodate social distancing. My one suggestion - and this may be outside of the owner's reach. Exiting the diner on the Route 22 West side, the visibility pulling out is poor. Route 22 is a fast highway and as we know, most NJ drivers speed like crazy and have an appetite for destruction. read more

We thought a mistake was made in the kitchen, but the waiter informed us when asked (he didn't offer us this information) that they were out of bananas, so "we gave you blueberries". Gee, thanks. First ever visit. This busy diner is very very good. Food is outstanding, plentiful, and high quality. If you are hungry , this is the place. The best diner I have been to in a while. I had roasted half chicken with rice ( fluffy, flavorful) and the zucchini/ eggplant in tomato sauce as my veg. Comes with soup or salad.. and my salad was amazing w chicken peas, green peppers, fresh fresh fresh. My second visit to Bridgewater Diner was even worse than the first terrible experience! Where do I begin? I ordered an egg white omelet (NO MEAT), grits, and a plain Belgian waffle. When the waffle arrived, it was covered in sugar, which I didn't request nor was I informed it came that way. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she rudely replied, "It comes that way." I politely explained that I should have been given the option, but I let it slide. As I got halfway through my omelet, I was horrified to find a sizable piece of ham. I was completely disgusted because I do not eat pork. I flagged down the waitress, who took the plate and brought over the "general manager." This individual, who barely spoke English, brushed it off with a dismissive "it happens." I expressed that this was unacceptable and explained that, in this country, such mistakes are a big deal, especially for dietary restrictions. He simply stared at me and repeated, "it happens." At that point, I was done. I asked the waitress for a box for my wife's food so we could leave. The service here is appalling--staff are extremely rude, especially toward certain groups of people. As for the food: The grits were so runny they were practically soup. The toast, which was supposed to be white bread, was rye. The waffle, beneath the sugar I didn't want, was overcooked. I visited this location last weekend with family. Unfortunately diners are super hot or miss. To my knowledge this diner was recently remodeled and I also believe the menus was as well ( this was my first time visiting). I ordered a cream of turkey soup first. This kind of soup is normally creamy and thicker, however this soup was SO THICK. And i realized it was because it was warm but not hot. By no means an i a person who needs food to burn my tastebuds off but there is not way this soup was at the required temp to serve food ( mind you idk what that is but I'm just saying). One of my in-laws ordered the soup also and he didn't like it at all. I asked the waiter to heat it a little and for me that resolved the issue. Also please note the soup was tasty just not hot enough. My entree was breakfast pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese and Turkey sausage. Again the food came out and my food was again warm. A stack of 3 pancakes and only the first one was warm and the others were just less than that. The eggs literally taste like nothing even with the cheese. Also the texture of the cheese made it clear that the eggs weren't hot either ( we all know what hot cheese looks and feels like). The turkey sauce wasn't hot either but i already had low expectations of that because normally turkey sausages are are often not quality at restaurants. My fiancé got a burger, ( the man love burgers) he said this was the worst burger he has ever had. My in laws had hot pastrami but they put the coleslaw on the sandwich rather than the side which most places will. Either way the sandwich came out so soggy and they couldn't eat it. We weren't fans before the remodel but we decided to give them a try, hoping things changed for the better. Somehow they were worse. Our waitress wanted to be anywhere but there. She brought us our appetizers and we asked for plates - they never came. The diner was not busy by any means, it was a Thursday evening around 5:30. We had to hunt someone down for our plates and a busboy ended up bringing them to us. We all ordered breakfast food and I went with my favorite: eggs Benedict. I cut into my eggs expecting to see the gooey-ness that eggs Benedict are famous for. I got a very cooked egg instead. I waited about 5 minutes for our waitress to check in to see how things were but she never came. We actually waved her over but she very clearly pretended to not see us. I ended up walking up to her to tell her my meal wasn't cooked correctly and she brought it back to the kitchen. Second attempt came out and it was incorrectly made again: raw. I immediately walked back up to the waitress and this time she turned her body away when she saw me coming. I calmly told her my food was incorrect and to take it off the bill (she did) and bring us the check. The icing on the disgusting cake was when we approached the manager to pay, he did not ask "How were things?" like they typically do. I brought up the incorrect meal twice and he basically shrugged me off. Definitely won't be back and definitely an upsetting experience. read more

Really enjoyed my experience at this diner. French onion soup was delicious, potentially the best I've ever had. BLT was delicious as well. The person I was with got tacos and loved them. We have been going here for decades, we love the food and the service. But after dealing with the manger there it was extremely disappointing how she treats her customers. Extremely rude and very unprofessional. I thought syrup came with pancakes and waffles. I've been stopping by here for years for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner and it's always good food and service... on this particular day we stopped for breakfast after doing some early morning Black Friday shopping. Atmosphere: Getting into the parking lot of the Bridgewater Diner is terrifying. It's located in the middle of the main road so you must make a left.  There is no left turn lane, so you hope cars behind you are paying attention because they have to come to a stop or go around you from over 40 mph. The inside is that of a typical diner.  There are plenty of booths, tables, and a bar.  We were lucky we got a booth in the back.  When we were leaving almost every table was taken. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh. The waitress brought a small kettle so I could continue to refill my own drink.  Being able to refill my own coffee was nice.  The coffee itself was good. Food: I wasn't sure what I wanted which seems to be a common theme.  There are plenty of options from all day breakfast, to lunch, and dinner.  I decided on the pork chop special.  I have been in a pork chop mood lately.  It was a lot of food. First, it came with a salad which was bigger than most side salads.  The salad itself was good, but I do appreciate when the dressing is mixed in. The pork chops came topped with a balsamic glaze and onion rings.  I chose their squash special and baked potato.  The pork chops were cooked perfectly, and I liked the glaze they used. The squash was one of the best diner sides I've had in a while.  The baked potato was a baked potato and nothing too unusual about it. Dessert: The meal also came with dessert. I chose the Smores cake to go.  The cake itself was a bit dry but in all not too bad.  It had a lot of whipped cream, marshmallows, and chocolate.  I wasn't sure exactly what I was expecting with a smores cake, but I have no complaints. Service: C The waitress didn't come around too much.  We could have used more water refill, and napkins.  She was friendly, but we only saw her a couple of times. I met a couple of friends here for lunch on a weekday. The lunch specials are cheap, portions are huge and service was friendly. The food itself was very bland and mediocre at best. My turkey lunch platter, which included mashed potatoes and corn, was bland, but fine. The portion was a crazy large size. The lunch special included soup and dessert. I had the cream of broccoli soup, which was good. For dessert, I ordered the apple turnover, which was fresh baked at the diner and good. One of my friends had the chicken avocado salad with the cream of broccoli soup and rice pudding. The salad was very large with lots of veggies and some grilled chicken thrown on top. It's hard to mess up salad, since there is no cooking involved, so it was good. In summary, for $9.99 I certainly received a lot of food.
