Had a great evening there last Saturday night with my sister who is visiting me. We were able to get in at the last minute because they had a spot at the bar. Which is up in the perfect place to sit because we got to experience the bartender Joey who is amazing. I had high hopes for this place. My family and I came for lunch. We started outside. Management and other staff were moving stuff all around us including tables, chairs, and a grill or something all while talking loudly. It was distracting and took away from the ambiance. It just seemed like something that could have been taken care of before opening. When we got our food, there was a looooong black hair in my food. They got me a new dish but no one really apologized. Was visiting Golden and popped in for lunch. The hosts were kind, but the rest of the staff was rude and extremely slow. They wouldn't allow people waiting for tables to sit at open bar stools while waiting for bar service. Bartenders looked at us multiple times and ignored us. A "We'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. After being seated we again waited for acknowledgement and left after a period of multiple staff members walking by and not saying anything. Stopped in for lunch right after their Saturday brunch. The table had not been cleaned and went downhill from there. Ordered the smoked prime rib nachos for an appetizer. They came out cold, with little queso, and the meat was low quality. It sure didn't taste very "smoked" to me and my wife. Needless to say, we didn't order anything else and departed. This had to be one of the worst experiences we've ever had at any restaurant. It's a shame because the location is stunning! We often visit Golden for day trips, and have for decades. We decided to enjoy a beautiful Colorado summer day and have lunch here. We placed our name on the waiting list, and was texted that our table was ready about 25 minutes later. The hostess was friendly and professional. The table outdoors was filthy; our hostess immediately cleaned it. We waited about 15 more minutes for water, then placed our order which included an appetizer and three entrees. It was fairly busy but it looked well staffed. We waited another 20 minutes before we finally asked about the very simple appetizer of humus and pitta wedges. Another 10 minutes and we had the appetizer; about two tablespoons of runny humus and extremely small pita wedges with one butter knife on a very small plate. Not an appetizer adequate for three adults. It was a typical warm day, so our water was almost gone, and never refilled! Our empty appetizer plate was never removed. After another 25 minutes of watching the table next to us (which was seated AFTER us with 5 adults) being waited on hand and foot to the point of those guests insisting they didn't need anything else, with ZERO communication from the same waiter for us, we decided to end the wait. We weren't going to ask for our entrees! It was an hour after we had been seated by the time we spoke to the manager to pay for our pathetic appetizer and let him know how truly awful our experience was. He was very nice, didn't charge us for the appetizer and offered a discounted voucher, but we will never return. read more

I have been to the Bridgewater Grill 3 times in the past 2 weeks and go often in the summer. They have always boasted the best brussels sprouts around. I returned last night to find out they changed them as they have changed many things on their menu, which of course is normal and expected. However, when I asked the waitress she said "you can't say anything until you have the new ones." They were horrible! Burned bacon wrapped around an undercooked brussel sprout with balsamic and mandarin oranges, it just was awful! Epic fail! read more

At the Golden Hotel, this restaurant has a lot going for it, including a great outdoor riverside patio. That's where it ends. The quality of food should have been embarrassing but they didn't get it. Then an overworked and disorganized server equaled no service--wrong orders, no refills, no followup, no fixes, etc. We finally asked for the manager and our bill ultimately reflected a discount, but by then we were all upset by the whole terrible experience. Thanks for ruining an otherwise good day. We will not be back. Too many other great places to go and life is too short. read more

We visited Bridgewater Grill for breakfast on 8/24/18. The setting was gorgeous. We sat outside the view was beautiful. The food was excellent. There was more on the plate than I could ever eat in one sitting. Our server, Melissa, was very friendly without being overly familiar or pushy. She was was exceedingly helpful and efficient as we ran her about for several special requests. Melissa was a bright spot in an already bright experience. My only complaint is that it was a little pricey but everything on the main drag in Golden is expensive. Maybe they could think about offering half portions for smaller eaters. read more

We had a very disappointing experience at the Bridgewater Grill. Came in for restaurant week and though the food we had was good it took FOREVER. After 2 hours and no dessert in sight we paid our bill and left. 2 courses in 2 hours is not what we were looking for. And the thing is, it wasn't even that busy (5:30pm on a Sunday evening), I don't think all the tables were full. Worst service at a restaurant in my life. I was meeting my family for my grandma's birthday party. When I got there we were the only table in the whole restaurant. The waiter did not know what he was doing, barely came to the table, and was rude. My meal was ehh but my aunt and uncle got the "20% off" NY strip. Came here a few weekends ago for lunch with a friend. There was someone at the host counter when we arrived, but she somehow didn't see us walk up so we stood there waiting until finally another host called her name and pointed at us. Weird start but it didn't really stand out to us at the time. We ordered sodas and burgers and that's where the issues began. Our burgers were SO SALTY. My friend couldn't get through hers at all and sent it back. I got through about half of mine before quitting. Our server was very nice about it and even took it off my friends bill, they also didn't charge us for our drinks which I think was more of a mistake on their part instead of a kind gesture (drinks weren't listed on the receipt like the burger was). Everyone else around us seemed to be enjoying the food so not quite sure what happened with ours. It was fairly busy too which meant it was also hard to get anyones attention throughout all this. I really do love restaurant week in Denver. It has been growing in popularity and in the number of restaurants that participate since its inception. I'm sure most Yelpers know the premise, but for the non-inducted among you, the idea is simple: For $52.80 (mile high - 5280 ft - clever, right?) you get a meal for two at some of Denver's nicer restaurants. Brilliantly placed towards the end of February, the slowest time in most every restaurant, it is a chance to go out and try new places for a consistently affordable price. I think it's a great time for risks. You can usually see the menus online, so it takes a little of the guesswork out. I was in the mood for steak, so we decided on the Bridgewater Grill. The Bridgewater Grill is attached to a hotel in the center of historic Golden with a patio that overlooks the Clear Creek. I had brunch there last summer while I was riding my bike and wanted to go back for dinner. What better time than Restaurant Week? The menu let you choose soup or salad, an entree and either an appetizer or dessert. Being more of a meat an potatoes guy, I opted for the app. instead of dessert. Homemade bread to start. Warm, homemade bread. Good start. Vegetable Beef soup... and this ain't no Campbell's. It was really good and had nice chunks of non-fatty steak in the soup. I chose the blackened shrimp appetizer. They were a little.. blah. I think they were a little over seasoned. Its shrimp in Denver, I know, but there is a right way to blacken something that stills leaves the flavor of the source meat intact, and a wrong way... overdo it, and bury it. Before I move on to the FIlet Mignon of Bison, I want to point out that the Bridgewater Grill serves Barmen, a rare treat brewed by the folks at Coors. It is named after the Prussian home town of Adolph Coors. It is unlike any other Coors product I've consumed, and I will be back to Bridgewater for the beer alone. Its really that good. You can only get it on draft, and only in a few select places in the Golden/Denver area. It takes 7 minutes to pour, and is worth every second you wait. So, the fliet... it was accompanied by a Jack Daniels cream sauce that I loved. I know T.G.I.Fridays has whored out Jack Daniels and their sauces, but when made from scratch by a chef with some know-how... it makes a great accompaniment to a good steak. I order the sweet potato fries to go along with it, and instantly wished I hadn't. My wife ordered the bacon and bleu cheese mashed potatoes and they were heavenly. The fries weren't bad, but not a good complement to the rest of the plate. Neither of us chose the dessert, so I have no opinion, but I did order another Barmen. Did I mention that it was ambrosial? We had a good meal here. The service was fair to good. A larger party came in shortly after us and they required a lot of attention, so I don't want to completely blame the server. The ambiance needed a little work. Maybe its because we were so close to the door, but it seemed a little sterile. And when it tried to be warm and cozy it came off a little... cheap. Like a hotel room that tries to make you feel at home with floral patterns and horrible materials. Bridgewater Grill is worth trying, especially if you're hanging out in Golden. I will definitely be back, and not just for the beer. read more

Bridgewater is located in the Golden Hotel right along Clear Creek-the back patio is one of best locations, views in the Front Range. The two level patio has wonderful views of the hills above Golden, and Clear Creek plays music to the ears-location is everything. We only had some wine, but decent crispy sweet potato fries. Sitting above Clear Creek as the sun sets is a perfect place-there are tables, and a bar which a few people noted had very good martinis. The manager came out several times to talk shop about the competition and what ideas we had to improve the menu, happy hour. The in-laws recently relocated to the area and have begun to frequent the Bridgewater, so they took us for lunch while we were visiting. If you're looking for an easy place that has something for everyone, or really just want to sit outside on a patio, Bridgewater is perfect for that. Like a lot of other reviewers, I also think the food was just average. The beer list is weak. They didn't do anything wrong, but they don't do anything special either. Bridgewater is safe, and you can't beat the location, but nothing noteworthy is happening there. read more

2 stars for pretty good food, -1 star for service (yes, that bad). I'm a very patient person, and have worked in restaurants through college, so I'm absolutely sympathetic to what they deal with. We've come in the past and had some consistently slow service here, but that's fine--didn't really bother me. Last night (8/29/13), however, we had a large group out on the patio. The hostess told us that, due to fire code, they can only have 8 people at each table (understandable). That was fine until others showed up, and we had more than 8 people at the table. We asked if we could get another table after she chastised us in a very unnecessary way, and she said yes, so two of us went to move to the new table, at which point she informed us that she wouldn't seat an incomplete party. So we can't have less than 8 people at the table, and we can't have more than 4 people at the other table, and we have 10 people there... Huh!? So we told her to change the "reservation" she made 5 min ago for the table on the almost empty patio to a reservation for two. *MAGIC!* All of a sudden we can sit at the table, with just the push of a button on her computer! (/sarcasm) She was just nasty the whole time, like we were putting her out by having the audacity to bring a party of 12 to their empty patio on a weeknight. On the plus side, our server was quite nice and tried hard, but that may be because it was only her 3rd shift and the cynicism of the other employees hadn't yet infected her. As I said, I'm sympathetic to what restaurant workers have to deal with, and I understand it from a behind-the-scenes perspective, but the hostess's attitude last night was just ridiculous. Won't be coming here again, that's for sure. That probably goes for the rest of our party of 12, too--way to kill 12 birds with one stone! ;-) read more

Every 4 months or so I convince myself that the Bridgewater Grill's food can't still be that bad. Each time they prove me wrong. Tonight was no exception. My wife and I spend $80 there, with tip, on two meals and a couple of drinks. I ordered from the night's "specials" menu - choosing the half rack of baby back ribs for $22. Not only were they not fall-off-the-bone, they were tough even by spare rib standards. Just like chewing on rubber soaked in ketchup. There is no excuse for that from any restaurant - especially one charging $22 for a half rack. The atomsphere in the outdoor seating by Clear Creek is great - but the food is consistently terrible. It's so bad, in fact, I can only assume they intend to screw it up. I have now learned my lesson, I will never spend my hard earned money in this establishment again. First time here and love this place. The view is amazing and the staff par one. Thank you Chef Smart for an amazing dinner. I had the Bison meatloaf and my boyfriend had the chili soup and buffalo wings. The flavors of each dish was to die for. I also want to thank Tommy Strang for being such a great host. We very much enjoyed our conversations about the town and what to expect during our visit in Golden. This restaurant has a great location right along Clear Creek, and the back patio is the best place to enjoy a sunny summer afternoon. If your looking for something lighter than your typical tavern meal of a hamburger with fries, but are unwilling to commit to a boring salad or wrap, I recommend the Miner Salad. Its comes with blackend beef tips, fries, and blue cheese dressing on top of a spring mix salad. Oh, did I mention it had bacon bits as well. Yummm. read more

I spent quite a bit of time on the patio at the Bridgewater Grill this summer. We had been here a couple of times over the course of the past few years, but this summer we took advantage of the Golden Hotel's free concert series. So I spent most Thursdays between June and September sitting on the patio here. They have a decent happy hour selection, both food and drinks. And I've tried the bulk of their regular menu items as well. I've really enjoyed every entree, sandwich and salad that I've tried, and the food items on their happy hour menu are tasty too. The service is usually fast and friendly. One night, when the weather ruined our patio time, they moved the music inside and the bartender was less than happy to see us. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt though, as she wasn't expecting to be swamped. I won't hold it against them. This is a great place to take visitors because the atmosphere and views are great. Prime people watching in the summer with all the hustle and bustle on the trail by the creek, and watching the tubers is always amusing. If you happen to visit, try the parmesan truffle fries on the happy hour menu, they're awesome! read more

My parents were in town last weekend and the family wanted a place that had a little bit of everything to satisfy everyone's tastes. While my meal in particular wasn't spectacular, everyone else really enjoyed theirs, so even though I've had better, overall I think this is an A-OK place. We had some fish n' chippers who were happy, and my sister loved the fish tacos. Mom went with the Foothills Hot Roast Beef Sandwich and raved. Unfortunately my Front Range Burger was so overcooked and over-peppered I could hardly eat it. The fries were cold and hard too, so that was kind of disappointing. Overall the Bridgewater offers some decent standard pub fare along with some more inventive choices. Assuming the burger bummer was a fluke, I'd go back. read more

Typical of hotel restaurants, the Bridgewater Grill is a little lacking for atmosphere and the food was a little slow in preparation. That said, the food was surprisingly good. The ingredients seemed very fresh (particularly enjoyed the spinach dip, which was freshly made from fresh spinach). My pepper-blackened burger was cooked perfectly, as was my date's seared tuna. The beer selection is decent, and the view overlooking Clear Creek is great. All in all, a quite nice eating establishment! read more

Decided to have lunch with my pup and fam in Golden. Bridgewater had an upstairs patio, so the bf went up to ask someone if dogs were allowed outside. Luckily, we have a German Shepherd who looks pretty darn official - they thought she was a service dog. They were really nice to bring out water and ice for her, too. The one negative to this place is that there are plants/ flowers on the railing (near our table) which attracted the most confident bees I have ever come into contact with. They literally tried to land on the food we were putting in our mouths. We would swat at them, and they didn't even care. We actually hit them a couple times but it didn't make a difference, they kept coming back. I am shocked we weren't stung. Apparently this is common they said - I could see a couple other tables dealing with the same thing. Maybe they should just ditch the plants. Had a mimosa, no complaints. Wings were excellent - bees loved 'em, too! Tried the Salmon BLTA which I thought was unique and very good. A little dry, but would order again. I didn't drag after because it wasn't too heavy of a meal. I had a side of the green chili (green chili is so popular in this area) - very flavorful and would recommend. Thought the food and drink were up to par - just maybe sit inside, or away from any plant life. read more

First they sit us a table outside on the river, very pretty. We wait ten minutes, no server, no water. The hostess comes over and asks us to move to a table people just left with no view. We ask why and she said it works better with our section. We move and the manager plops down some water with no ice and won't even look at us. Then he goes over to the place we just left and straightens our the seats for another group. They want $20 a burger for this terrible behavior. Do not go here. It was a beautiful spring day and my wife and I planned to bike along the Clear Creek trail into Golden for lunch. We were in Denver visiting our daughter and family and this was going to be a special new adventure. We had checked out a few spots online and, based on the mouthwatering menu displayed, the Bridgewater was on our short list. As we rolled into town, and popped up to street level from the creek, we almost ran into the place!! How convenient! It was a very good sign. We had hoped to get a seat on the lovely patio overlooking the creek but we were one couple too late so we decided to eat inside. What a blessing that turned out to be! That's when we met our server Lori. THE BEST SERVER WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. BEST. EVER. And that is saying a lot. We have dined in some of the finest eateries across the country and know something special when we see it. Food was exceptional. Highly recommend the Rocky Mountain Miners Salad. Very generous portion with lots of yummy ingredients. So much so that I forgot I really wanted to sample the Key Lime Cheesecake! Do treat yourself to a Creekside Cocktail and someone please tell me how the cheesecake was. We will make it a must do every time we come to town!! Thanks Lori.
