Service was quick and friendly. Can't complain at all about our food- my classic burger was good and the monte-crisco sandwich was delicious. The coconut cream pie was especially great because they don't sweeten the whipped cream, so it was perfectly balanced! I'll also call out the coffee, which was good and strong. If we lived in the area we'd be there multiple times a month, but it'll be on our list of places to return to whenever we're in the area! read more

Braved the drizzle and sub-30° weather to come in from our hotel in Portage to try this place on New Year's Eve. SOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. The food (chicken and biscuits, California omelet, and chicken-fried steak) was outstanding. My woman said her CFS was "revolutionary" ... the waitstaff was super friendly, too. Food was so great and the place was so charming that I had to come back the very next day. Prices are so reasonable too! A perfect breakfast or lunch spot for anyone on their way to Devil's Lake State Park. First day, my girlfriend and I split the Monte Christo - it was absolutely delicious. Second day, we split the Broadway Benedict and the breakfast sandwich. Again, so good! The jalapeño jam on the breakfast sandwich gave it a wonderful sweetness. Wow! A real throwback diner in Baraboo, just a couple of blocks from the Circus World Museum. This is an old school diner, complete with stainless steel and neon sign. It wasn't really built to fool anyone into thinking it was Chicago & Northwestern Railway dining car (it has a square footprint on a city lot) although the inside decor has curved ceilings to resemble a railroad dining car. The menu is out of the '50s, too (except the prices) with colorful pages inserted into plastic sleeves in a booklet form. The bright decor and throwback appearance had me craving a vanilla malt, served in a tall glass with a whipped cream topper sprinkled with colorful jimmies. The remains were served in the chromed steel mixing tumbler right from the mixer, the old fashioned way. The Kat Lady ordered a Port Huron Blonde Ale in anticipation of a fish fry. She changed her mind when she saw the Artichoke Turkey sandwich. I opted for breakfast, corned beef hash with eggs sunny side up. This ain't yo' mama's canned corned beef hash, either! They make their own brisket and cube red potatoes to make a superb hash, although it was too salty for my taste. (I deducted one star because of the saltiness.) It was served with freshly baked whole wheat toast reminiscent of Grandma's. It was tasty and I loved it, although I think I've reached my July limit of sodium intake. The Kat Lady offered me a bite of her sandwich but it was too thick for me to get a bite of. She said it was delicious. Considering when she was done, her plate was as clean as an operating room table, I believe her assessment. This was a great experience and I would return. Judging from the other Yelp reviews of the place and the number off patrons filling the booths, I'd say I'm not alone in my enjoyment. read more

A wonderful diner with amazing food. I had awesome pancakes and some thick cut maple bacon. My daughter got the chicken and biscuits, and it did not disappoint. LUCKED OUT ON THIS GEM OF A FIND during our exploration around the Dells area. Not only is it adorable like stepping back into time, the food is UNBELIEVABLE! Three middle-aged women had just accidentally hiked the difficult trail at Devil's Lake after misreading the map. The had embarked on their journey at 1000, and due to their folly and arthritis, sorely completed their walk at 1230. They were tired, under-caffeinated, and hungry. Yelp was at the rescue to guide them to this gem, and oasis in a desert of hangry. First - extremely cute diner exterior and interior. Second - open booth - score! Third - friendly waitstaff who was happy to answer our questions. The menu was awesome - savory breakfast and later fare for all. I ordered all sides to make the brunch of that day's dream - 1 fluffy pancake with fresh blueberries in it, 2 scrambled eggs, and sweet and salty thick cut bacon. My meal and those of my friends were delish. I took 1/2 my pancake and 2 slices of bacon to go so that I could eat them an hour later, and the lovely waitress provided butter and syrup to go. Had a little bit from a few plates. Nearly everything was really good. Potato Pancakes - Best I've ever had 10/10 Hash Browns - Nice and crispy on top, just the right amount of greasy throughout. 9/10 Eggs - they were eggs, not much else to say N/A Corned Beef Hash - nice large chunks of corned beef were tender and amazing. The hash was cubed red potatoes, and a little oily. 7/10 Combine the hashbrowns with the Corned beef, and that's would be ridiculous. Overall: 9/10 read more

While in the dells I found this cool old school diner draped in neon. It's like a trip back to the 50S with stainless steel and glass. This place has serious old school charm and I really enjoyed stoping for breakfast, see my pictures. There is booths, tables and an old school lunch counter. The woman who served me was great and did a good job and she let me roam and take all the pictures I wanted to show the world. The menu is small so you are not overwhelmed with tons of choice. I ordered the two eggs, sausage and home made toast. The home made toast was very thick with lots of butter and good. The eggs were sunny side perfect. The sausage was the bigger kind and tasted like no other that I have had and was good. Overall this was a great spot to stop for a meal and was about $7 for breakfast so don't do the chain crap if your near by. Was looking for a place to get coffee on a drive through. Saw a diner and couldn't resist. Wow! Was their food good! All hand made (the bread was fresh, fluffy, absolutely to die for in fact I got a second serving after having 1 side). Food very good. A clean and classic place. Other visitors have commented on the style and decor. It is an attractive and very well maintained diner. I was impressed with how new the upholstery appeared. It's obvious the owners take great pride in showcasing their little gem in Downtown Baraboo. I was also quite impressed with the chicken wrap I ordered during a recent visit. Two large sandwiches made of chicken strips and assorted vegetables in a soft, tasty wrap. For a side I chose their cole slaw, a generous portion and nice complement to the sandwich. Counter service was good, with the crowd light around the dinner hour on that Saturday. Even so, my server told me the place had turned over two times already that day. Fantastic, considering the times. Good to see Baraboo residents (and, presumably other visitors like me) supporting the business. At $9.59, I felt the sandwich was reasonably priced. Was a bit taken aback by the cost of milk. A 16 ounce glass of chocolate sets you back $4.29. Ouch. Even so, I left satisfied. And brought home a hearty wrap to enjoy this week. read more

Came in as a family party of 5. We were seated promptly and waitress was very friendly. Some had breakfast and some had lunch. Great breakfast of the typical eggs and hash browns. Home made bread is a nice touch. Chicken tenders were made in house and not frozen. House made honey mustard sauce was on point. Turkey club was very good. Get something with their bacon and you won't be disappointed. Prices were fair considering it's the Dells and you should expect a little premium. Still, very good value for the portions and quality.
