I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I've been wanting to visit a vintage diner for a while, and this was everything I was hoping it would be like! I got a burger, coke, and a milkshake. It was very good- the milkshake was probably one of the best ones I've had in my life and the food was hot. I liked the booth seats and the service was also very good. Now this place is a gem. What have I been doing with my life before this?? Oh wait, living in Madison, which is an hour drive away from Baraboo? Not something that should be taken into account here. I will literally drive just for this CORNED BEEF HASH! Now, I'm generally a fan of straight out of the can type corned beef hash, but the corned beef here is so salty and flavorful and just soft enough... Okay I'm drooling just thinking about it. The potatoes were well seasoned and balanced out the ~oh so deliciously salty~ corned beef. They've knocked it out of the park with this one. I picked my plate clean. We also tried their cinnamon roll (delicious, so. big.), one of the Benedict's (uh, yum, loved the avocado!), and just generally had an amazing time. I loved the atmosphere here--just like a classic diner, down to the color and the size of the place! Pretty limited seating, yet while there was a line, it moved pretty quickly and I didn't feel like we waited an excessive amount of time. Service was great, prompt and kind, and I loved the shirts!! Body by bacon every time. All said and done.. I'd drive an hour for this, no sweat. You have to stop if you're in Baraboo! read more

What a cool little dinner with great food and service! We stayed At kalahari and it was about a 15 minute drive but well worth it! It wasn't a tourist trap like most places. It's located in a small town that has some cool old buildings and cars to look at on your way. The pancakes were awesome! My friend and I really wanted to like this place. It's pretty cute, especially from the outside, and our waitress was friendly. The menu looked promising, with a fair number of veggie options and some tasty-sounding sandwiches. I opted for the black and bleu burger, and my friend went for the portabella sandwich. I specified medium-rare on my burger, and was sorely disappointed with a dried-out burger that was way over done. The blue cheese left something to be desired as well: not terribly flavorful. My friend's shroom sandwich was really drippy, and totally soaked her bun. The next morning she complained of some indigestion. Our waitress was super nice and Angel, the man behind the grill, whipped up some perfectly cooked eggs over easy, hash browns and chicken fried steak. Wow! What a great place. Had a superb breakfast with a friend today. Place is spotless, service was fast and friendly, and food was terrific. I had eggs and sausage. My friend had biscuits and gravy. My husband and I were out for a ride and enjoying the brisk weather. We had a decent brunch here. The diner has a retro feel. You can watch the food being prepared in front of you. It is clean and the staff is friendly. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast with cream cheese frosting and a side of bacon. The cinnamon roll was burned on the bottom. My husband had the corned beef hash. He said it was decent. We ended up spending $25 with a soda and coffee as well. Their prices are comparable to other places in the area. Went here for the first time this morning! Cute diner, immediate seating. Food was really good, quick for the most part and well made! Only issue seemed to be with staff. Our waitress was arguing with the cooks for the majority of our time there, which in a diner where customers can see and hear everything in the grill area, is not professional and does not create the most pleasant experience. Staff in general seemed tense and we overheard several snippy comments between them. Hopefully this is a blip and not the usual! Would definitely come back for the food. read more

Eggs Benedict are great and served with a generous portion of perfectly cooked hash browns. Coffee cups stay filled up by attentive servers. My husband and I were visiting Baraboo for a few days. We asked the locals for a good place for breakfast, they suggested Broadway Diner. What a neat place to eat! We both ordered the corned beef hash. Neither of us have ever had such a great tasting dish of hash like that! The chunks of corned beef were huge and tender. We really enjoyed our meal. The waitress' were really good and attentive. Upon leaving we decided to take a piece of homemade coconut cream pie with us. We opened the container to sample a bite before we left and the rest was history. We left the empty container on the table. It was delicious! If your in Baraboo, you've got to go there! read more

To be fair, I truly applaud the time, effort, money and passion I'm sure it took to bring this beautiful piece of restored Americana to its current resting place in Baraboo. It's worth a visit if you are into diners. I'm not one to ordinarily order chicken fried steak, but when in a diner with homemade fare, I generally find it worth the splurge. This dish was described as being hand breaded, but if the breading was done in-house, I'm not sure why the goal would be to so closely match what one would find breaded in an institutional food supply factory. It didn't taste bad, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The gravy, interspersed with bacon bits, was pretty good and the mashed potatoes were complete with lumps. The accompanying mixed vegetables did not have the life cooked out of them, which so many places tend to do, but they tasted completely unseasoned. Our server was good, and the other waitress was also hustling around both inside and out on the patio. We also tried the peanut butter pie as their desserts are said to be homemade, and it also seemed somewhat mass produced. In retrospect I wish I had tried their corned beef hash instead, as it was featured on the menu, and I would love to come back and do so. read more

Baraboo, Bara who? No, really, only a short drive away and lots to see and do. We enjoyed Mirror Lake Park area, caught the Baraboo Circus Parade in honor of the original Ringling Brother's Circus. We need to catch the museum next time. We ate at Broadway Diner and I would give it 3 stars. It was crowded but managed to seat all 10 of us in less than 15 minutes at lunch time. The food took awhile to arrive and everyone was not served at the same time.... BUT the food was delicious. We tried the Black and Bleu burger, kids cheeseburger plate- both moist and cooked to order. The adult burger was topped with an onion ring and thick cut bacon. Kids' chicken tender plate was good, real chicken and the kids ate all of it! Salad, had no iceberg, ordered the nuts and berries (!!!) and had real vegetables, fresh berries and a light vinaigrette. The portabella sandwich was also devoured by my vegetarian friend and deemed delicious! Next time I will have to try a shake and head over to check out the old circus posters. read more
