I'm a black woman and my black friends and I visited this establishment for brunch. Our food was TRASH. Three out of the eight woman in our party sent their food back. One of my friends never ordered out of fear of being disappointed. My food was horrible. Broderick offers a half order of chicken wings so I asked if I could have wings without buffalo sauce and a side order of garlic fries. My wings arrived dried out, tuff, unseasoned, and were deep fried with the feathers still on. My fries were old. They taste like they'd been cooked the day before and just refried. They were stale and greasy. I ordered an espresso martini and my drink was as strong as a Mitch McConnells knees. Basically, my drink was weak AF! My friends and I visited the restaurant because it was recommended by a social media influencer. However, the influencer must have gotten better food than the regular folks such as myself because we did not have the same experience. If you're not into seasonings and flavorful food and you enjoy weak alcoholic drinks and dried out chicken with feathers then definitely visit Broderick in Walnut Creek. We're baaaaack About 11am on a Sunday, still plenty of seating inside and out! We parked down by target and walked through the farmers market on our way here, the perfect start to a Sunday. Starting with A Day at the Races cocktail, I had a hard time choosing between the country benny and the chilaquiles. I opted for the chilaquiles and was glad I did! This is a really great spot for for some really good food. They have a very lively indoor eating area with a shabby chic decor and also a n outside patio in front on the Main Street to eat as well. Great customer service. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Shoutout to Teresa who was our server giving great recommendations on food and drinks. Came here for brunch on a Saturday around 12:30 for a party of 2. It was busy but we didn't have to wait to be seated at all. Our server was super nice e and friendly. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the vegan scramble plate option. Benedict was delicious! The vegan scramble was interesting because everything was vegan besides the bread ( it had butter on it). Venue: The restaurant was pretty loud and it was honestly quite difficult to have a conversation without talking loudly. Also, you're not sitting far enough from other tables where you can't hear their conversations and vice versa. Service: the service was a little slow and it was difficult to stop anyone for help. The staff were friendly though when you do interact with them. Meal: the portions were fairly big so we ended up getting one burger to share and a couple sides. - crab cakes: it was pretty average. It tasted pretty bland and the sauce was not much better. I've had better elsewhere. - Mac & cheese: this was probably my favorite. I honestly don't know how to describe it, but definitely worth a try if you like a sharp cheese taste. - gold rush burger: the burger was good and had some of that Mac & cheese that I liked so much in it. Super friendly help and good food to go along with it. I've been wanting to try Broderick for a while and finally got a chance to run over for lunch. We decided to go against the grain and got a salad and fish tacos. It was a good choice! The grilled fish tacos were great and the bbq chicken salad hit the spot. Just filling enough, but not leaving you stuffed like you want to sleep. The outdoor patio is nice and gives you room to breathe. I had a burger with the family last night! Broderick's has been a hometown favorite for me! As of late though the last 2-3 times that I have had their burgers it seems like they may have changed their burger patty. My friend and I was looking for something to eat around Walnut Creek. We stumbled upon Broderick and the the first thing we noticed was how lively the atmosphere was and the pendants lights. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken burger with garlic fries and Johnny cash burger with sweet potato fries. The portion was good and the burgers was tasty but we didn't really like the fried onions on the Johnny cash because it only tasted like fried breading. And the garlic fries didn't have enough garlic taste to it. I just wished that the garlic and sweet potatoes fries weren't extra because the burger itself was a little pricy. Now I'm ashamed that it has taken me so damn long to finally make it here. So many wonderful missed opportunities, but I'll def me making up for that now. Swung by here one evening after work because I didn't feel like slaving in the kitchen after a long and stressful workday. I've been meaning to try this place for a while but never got around to it until recently. Walked inside to see if they had any tables outside for me, and sure enough, they did. I love what they've done with their patio space. They've basically converted the parking spaces in front of their restaurant into a covered patio space. Since it was just me, the sweet hostess sat me at one of the two tops in front of the restaurant. It was a beautiful day and I didn't mind feeling the warmth of the sun on my back. Broderick is known for their gourmet burgers and rightfully so. I think that one of the reasons why it's taken me so long to come here is because I'm usually pretty basic when it comes to my burgers. I generally stick to the classic or "California" style type of burgers which don't normally have all of those extra fancy garnishments added. BUT... on this particular day, ya girl took a walk on the wild side. Sometimes when I read the descriptions of gourmet burgers, I always feel like it's too much. But damn near all of the burgers sounded absolutely delicious here. After perusing the menu, I finally settled on the True Blue burger with a garlic fries and a boozey toasted marshmallow shake! When I tell you that this meal was heavenly... y'all, I ain't lyin'! Sh*t was damn near making my eyes roll to the back of my head. Just THAT good, mmkaaay? Let's talk about this burger; dynamite! The bacon, blue cheese, and onion strings, and garlic aioli were a match made in heaven on this burger. This flavor combo was simply explosive. The blue cheese was nicely balanced out with the bacon. The bun was nicely grilled and the burger patty was thick and juicy. This was one of those burgers that I knew I wasn't gonna finish all in one sitting just from the looks of it. I cut that bad boy in half and reheated the other half up in my airfryer the next day. It tasted just as delicious. A fair warning; you betta come hungry because these portions are REAL... as in, real HUGE! The garlic fries were fantastic! So much fingerlickin' garlicky goodness right there. They give you loads of fries, so there will be plenty to go around. And that boozey shake! My oh my was it delicious. I got so full from the gigantic portions, but nothing got wasted here baby... NOTHING! This was definitely one of those meals that I savored. Service was excellent from start to finish, and the staff is super friendly and fun. I really enjoyed the positive energy. I will say that this place ain't cheap. It ran me about $40 after tax and tip. However, for the quality, ambience, and service, it's 100% worth it folks! Hands down best burger spot in the bay! I got the duck burger and I HIGHLY recommend it. From the crispy cheese to the juicy duck it's a must try! I've also tried their charro burger which was good but not spicy enough for me. I've also tried their mushroom burger and their Johnny Cash which were also tasty. But the duck burger is my all time Fave. To drink get the Bay Queen! You won't regret it! That cocktail is dangerous! So ridiculously tasty! My family and I met up here to celebrate after I chose my wedding dress at BHLDN just down the road and we had a great experience! We sat outside and ordered a variety of drinks and yummy food. I came here the other night and ordered food and drinks with some friends for dinner. The drinks were good, although the food runner didn't know what drinks belonged to who or even what the drinks were. Ok, not too bad of a thing until we got our food. My friends food orders were correct except mine. I ordered the salmon blt but they gave me the pulled pork sandwich instead which I didn't order. A little annoyed since I wasn't able to eat while my friends were eating. They did eventually bring me my salmon blt and after inspecting it realized their was only one piece of bacon in the whole thing. The menu states it has bacon in it but I guess it only means one piece. I did bring it up to the waitress and she told me it didn't include bacon but a sort of bacon sauce and I told her the menu clearly states bacon hence the name salmon BLT, bacon, lettuce and tomato. She told me she would remove it so I didn't have to pay for it. After not seeing her again I did ask another waitress if we could have it taken care of and the situation she said she would see what she could do, albeit she seemed somewhat annoyed and bothered by my follow up request. Our original waitress did come back and she apologized and said the sandwich did in fact only have one piece of bacon which is a bummer since blt's should include maybe three pieces. She said the best they could do was remove $5 which was disappointing since it had almost no bacon and tasted bland. Overall, the service was lacking since their seemed to be a lack of menu knowledge and they didn't resolve my issue like promised. They have a bar area which has a dive bar feel. Their hostess was semi rude. This lady in front of us kept telling the hostess their one other person was not there yet and then they proceed to go back and forth about when that said person was going to be there. Just tell her you can only seat complete parties and move on. While perusing the menu I did not feel appetized by anything. All seemed bland and overpriced. They have this Southern kind of vibe to the menu or something. It felt like they were trying to be something they're not. I just decided to get the chicken and waffles. Overall, super basic, flavorless waffle. The chicken was moist though. I definitely had more interesting and flavorful food. Came here with a fellow Yelp buddy for happy hour since they have a killer happy hour deal (see posted menu) on select drinks and food items. Got the fish tacos and the triple play sliders featuring mini-versions of their Johnny Cash, the El Charro, and the Old School. Great way to sample their burgers and quite filling. Everything was absolutely delicious and came out hot and quickly. Also could not resist ordering one of their boozy milkshakes, which was not on the happy hour menu, but always a must at Broderick's. Tips: Difficult to find parking so make sure you can walk there with a parking garage close by. Easy pickup with order online options! Food: Old school burger $15.5 with white cheddar, house pickles, and ketchup and mustard. The burger medium rare was more over cooked to medium but still juicy. The patty was nicely seasoned and was a nice size with lettuce and tomato to complement the burger. Bun was little greasy on top and the bottom bun was completely soaked in oil from fry's so not so pleasing. 4.5/5 Banh mi fries good, but came soggy so no crunch. I had previewed the menu prior to coming in, so I was stuck between the fish sandwich or the chicken sandwich. When it was my turn to place my order, I went with the fish sandwich (with naked fries) and the peach-a-boo. My sandwich had a light breaded coating and perfect bun to slaw ratio. This sandwich was a bit messy, but the flavor made up for that. The drink was really good and refreshing. Great mix of flavors and served in a mule cup. I was so excited to come to Broderick after all the hype around it. Unfortunately one of the two most popular items on the menu fell short for me. I ordered the lamb burger and the banh mi fries. The lamb burger - I tried so hard to like it. What killed it for me was the sauce that came with it. It was on every inch of the burger even though I tried to escape it. It's super sweet and throws the whole burger out of whack. You expect your burger to be mostly savory, maybe a little balance with hint of sweetness. Not this burger. Next time I might try it again without the sauce but was very disappointed. Banh mi fries - meh, it didn't taste like banh mi. Sure it has some pickled carrots on it, but it doesn't have any of the other flavors that is in a banh mi. My boyfriend got the regular fries with his burger. The regular fries are much much better, just stick with those. Overall disappointing experience, but I plan on coming back to try the other items. read more
