We're in Moab for the weekend to visit the nearby national parks and went to Broken Oar tonight for dinner. Everything was excellent! We ordered the pickle fries for an app and then we both ordered the beast burger and got it "broken oar style" and it was 10/10. Honorable mention- the sweet potato fries were all the hype. We were visiting from out of town and stopped here for dinner. The menu selection is broad and creative and the food was great. Even better, however, was the service. The BROKEN OAR opens at 4:30 pm. We visited on several days and tried to be there at opening because the parking lot fills up quickly with the restaurant not far behind. Service was always great with excellent food. I had the chicken tenders, fish & chips, and brisket sandwich on different nights, choosing the brisket sandwich as my favorite. Pricing for the ICE TEA was horrendous at $6.00 with soft drinks at $4.50. Everything else was probably ok for a tourist town. The pricing is confusing because the web site menu said unsweetened ice tea was $4.00. Lemonade was $7.00. We did not even bother trying any other restaurants. We loved the food, service, and atmosphere. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Broken Oar during our time in Moab. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding. The honey lime sriracha salmon was to die for, cooked perfectly with so much flavor. Our server, Melena, was absolutely amazing. This was the best place we found to eat in Moab, but even this was not quite as good as we would have liked. The service was great, and the ambience pleasant. When you walk in it's like stepping back in time log building and rustic decor and why not you're in the Wild West of Moab. We ate upstairs just because it's different over seeing other people having a great time is a good start. Our server was prompt and knowledgeable about the menu with a great sense of humor. Great menu/Great food! We were a party of 9 and they gave us a good size table and service was great. Can't go wrong with the pull pork sandwich. We order the cheese curds to start with but they were a little disappointing. The glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay was a bit on the warm side. Great food if you can get there before they close for the evening. Cobb Salad was great as were the wings. There's outside seating but only a view of the parking lot and back of some buildings. I'll be back next time I'm in Moab. read more

The Broken Oar is easily my favorite restaurant in Moab. This place rocks! I am not sure what happen to the poor oar, but the restaurant itself definitely isn't broken. This place is thriving! After hitting the trails all day during Jeep Safari, we were hungry and wanted to grab a bite before heading to a night trail. Everyone else recommended basic/mediocre options, but I insisted that we check out The Broken Oar. The one hesitation was the price point...but spoiler alert: it is sooo worth it! Unbeknownst to us, The Broken Oar doesn't open until 5pm. We were there just a little after 4pm, so we had some time to kill. By 4:59pm, there was a mob of people waiting to get in. See, this is how you know it's good. If I could slide in a recommendation, it would be to definitely be to the restaurant early. During our dinner, there was a very long wait and it was like the end of a wedding, when you are going through an arch of people on the way out of the restaurant. I loved it, but not a single person gave me a high five upon my exit. We didn't have a wait at all because we were basically first in line for a table. We were in a table of 8 people. Upon arriving at our table, the chairs were extremely heavy and it seemed a bit crowded with the table behind us. However, the atmosphere was so fun and inviting. It was like a big cabin. They were also selling Jeep Safari shirts and gave us a great deal on them. We ordered the sweet potato fries and the cheese curds to start. The fries were amazing--that is what they are known for at The Broken Oar, apparently. The cheese curds were good but nothing out of this world if I am being honest. The sweet potato fries were dressed in a caramel sauce and some kind of zest (maybe cheese) that made them taste so good. For my drink, I decided to try their peach raspberry lemonade. This was easily the best lemonade I have ever had in my whole life. It was chunky, but in the best way. I usually am weird about pulp but this added more texture and flavor to the already delicious drink. I got a few refills of this. My mouth is watering as I reminisce on this delicious drink. For the entree, everything looked amazing...but I decided on the turkey pesto with fries and a side of ranch. Once my food came out, it didn't have the ranch with it. I am so glad I asked again because this was the best ranch I have ever had. Good heavens. It was so good, I ended up needing multiple rounds of the delectable, herb-infused sauce. It paired so perfectly with the pesto sandwich and tasted great with the salty fries too. The service throughout was nothing short of incredible. They consistently checked in on us and made sure everything was going well. Everyone was so friendly and quick with refills and our order. Brooque (or Brooke, if you see her nametag) was an awesome server. She was so kind and patient with us and just had an awesome attitude throughout the entire interaction. This is a given, but yes, I'll be coming back. The Broken Oar may just be one of my favorite restaurants of all time, but it is definitely top notch for my Moab adventures. Awesome food and unbelievably fast service! We were welcomed in and ShayLynne was incredible! She was so fast, kind, got us everything we needed, and seriously MADE the dining experience! The food was also amazing (We got the French dip, the Miner's Cabin burger, and the fettuccine Alfredo) This was genuinely the best fettuccine Alfredo I've ever had in my life! It was so flavorful, would absolutely recommend even though the portion was a little small. The liquor was a little limited but the food more than made up for it. Very rustic decor, which is quite nice, but all the hard wood surfaces make it loud, especially upstairs where we were promptly seated. Our service was friendly. Menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches. Food was just OK. My Ran Daddy sandwich was fatty and the brisket tasted like it was cooked with liquid smoke, not a real smoker. We ate at the broken oar last night and had a very nice meal on the deck outside. The staff was friendly and Franklin was extremely kind and professional. We both ordered the Game burger which did not taste any different than a regular burger and came out medium well instead of medium rare as we both requested. We showed it to Franklin when he stopped by to see how everything came out and even the hostess came over and said "I'll get that taken care of", so I held off eating any more of it and ate my fries and salad. After some time it was clear the hostess wasn't coming back so I finished my burger. Franklin came, we paid our bill and began to leave. As we were leaving the hostess rushed over, said nothing about our meal but handed me a card and asked me to give Franklin a good review. Fantastic dinner at the Broken Oar. It's a popular spot for sure. No reservations accepted but luckily we only waited 20 minutes for a table. As expected the service was super! Our meals were excellent. The brisket was outstanding. It was so tender and the fat melted in my mouth (yes, I ate the fat... I was on vacation...no rules). My husband's brisket sandwich was piled high with tender meat. It's messy so, ask for extra napkins. The only thing we didn't love were the boneless wings. Just a little too much breading. Overall a great experience. We fell in love with Moab. Hope we return soon. Looking forward to another great meal at the Broken Oar. read more

The Broken Oar was your average restaurant. You won't be disappointed if you are just looking for a meal. It was overpriced though. My husband and I paid about $100 for 2 entrees and 2 sodas. This restaurant is wonderful! It came highly recommended from the folks at Moab Adventure Center. We tried to get a reservation. They only accept reservations for parties of 6 or more. We were told the best way to get guaranteed seating was to be there when they opened at 5pm. When we arrived at 4:45 there was already a line of people waiting to get in. The impeccable service, the absolutely delicious food, the flavorful teas and dessert- all were superb. Our server, Dakota, had a number of tables to attend to, and yet we had the pleasure of her winning personality and delightful service snd attentiveness throughout our meal. She even took time to give us directions when asked. We would have eaten here every night if we'd known about Broken Oar Restaurant when we first arrived in Moab! read more

We narrowed it to this restaurant because we wanted to eat grilled chicken, and they had good offerings on the menu. The service was great - Shay was attentive and had a good personality. The menu in the Moab food guide didn't have prices, so to me that meant it was expensive (which I expect in a tourist town).
