Food was great, the only thing wrong was the smell of dirty/old mop water used. You can smell it throughout the entire restaurant.

I am one of those that love corn beef hash, hash browns, eggs over easy - all with a touch of ketchup. Hot cup of black coffee and a tall glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. I have been to Broken Yolk twice now just for this meal. Way more than I can eat but it's so good. Busy, upbeat, bright restaurant. Lots of help - folks to take your order, others to bring it to you, others to re-fill your coffee. Folks at the end to wish you a nice day. Words cannot express how delicious their Gluten Free Pancakes are! THE BEST I've ever had! I had to call the waitress back to the table and ask her if she was sure that they were gluten free...they were that good!!! LARGE PORTIONS! Ordered a pancake, the border check omelette, and the tiki house French toast and was surprised to see how big everything was. The omelette was one of the best tasting omelettes I've had and the tiki French toast made with Hawaiian kings bread was delicious. It was national ketchup day when we went and we received free ketchup bottles. Free things, large portions, for a decent price... what else can you ask for? Definitely recommend. read more

In short - Disappointing. My girlfriend and I decided to try it out after I went to a location in San Diego and had a decent experience with some really good food. This place definitely did not reach those expectations. Of course, i checked yelp beforehand, but gave it a shot anyways, thinking it couldn't be THAT bad. Well, I was wrong. Got a table pretty quick around noon on a Saturday. Waitress, I believe it was Kacey, took our drink orders right away. And that's when everything went downhill. Service - It took about 5 minutes to get a glass of pomegranate and orange juice. After that, during the 15 minutes it took our waitress to finally have time just to take our order we noticed tables in the surrounding area started getting a few incorrect orders and it was taking them a while to get their food, and that made us a little nervous. I don't really blame our waitress for this, because it seemed like she was the only one dealing with about 20 tables, which included the patio seating. The only other bright spot I found was that the bus boys were really nice about correcting orders or getting other things for customers. One of the bus boys even noticed we never got water and got us some glasses without us asking. I'd probably call the service uneven, as a few employees went around asking how everything was to a handful of tables, whereas it seemed like we were getting skipped over. Maybe they had something against the Asian guy with the Niners hat, but that wasn't the only thing that was uneven about our experience. How is it that you have some many employees roaming around, but only one waitress in the entire section of the restaurant is able to take orders? I think if you're working as a team, you'd be able to help take orders so the one waitress isn't swamped with having to deal with so many tables. Food - We both got omelettes, The Rancher and the Border Check. I ordered the Border Check while I was in SD, so I suggested it to my girlfriend. We also both ordered hashbrowns and blueberry muffins. Remember the uneven part? The omelettes were uneven! In my girlfriend's Border Check, all the chorizo was on one side of omelette, and all the jalapenos and cheese were on the other side. How can the kitchen manage to fold an omelette the wrong direction? On top of that, my hashbrowns were burnt, and for some reason, had a section in the middle of it that was extremely salty, like they just poured salt into one part of the hashbrowns instead of sprinkling it, and didn't bother to fix it. Also, the chorizo was mushy and tasted more like meatloaf rather than fried sausage. At least the blueberry muffins were good. read more

If you like eggs for breakfast or lunch, then this is the place for you. My wife doesn't really like breakfast so she can order lunch anytime they are open. I prefer the Florentine Benedict but all their eggs are excellent. Changed the potatoes for a hot cake and they up-charged me, but that's okay with me. read more

The food was good - tasty, hot, fresh, and lots of it - but I was most impressed by the staff, a group of young, hard-working people who really seemed to care about the restaurant. We tried Broken Yoke Orange for the first time this morning. What a great place. It has been open a couple of years; before that the building was a Carrows. The place was very clean and neat. They specialize in eggs, of course so we had to have an omelet. The omelets are fabulous and LARGE with four eggs. We decided to split the "Border Check" and had the jalapeño's changed to mild chilies. It was absolutely delicious. While we were waiting for our order, the manager stopped by our table and gave us three muffins to sample that they were considering for their Fall menu. Great. Our server was Christina. She was prompt, courteous, friendly and kept our coffee hot. We are definitely coming back. This is now my favorite breakfast place. read more

Had brunch with a friend here a few days ago. We got there at 230 (30 mins before closing) and the server was so great. No grief about it being almost closing time, and she was very attentive. It was my first time and I wasn't feeling that well so unfortunately I wasn't very adventurous when it came to my order. They have a huge menu selection so be prepared to pick something even though it all looks soooo good. I went with the salad/soup/sandwich combo and got a caesar salad, tomato basil soup, and turkey sandwich on wheat. The salad was good, but the soup!! Sweet baby Jesus, I wanted just a pot of soup to sit and drown myself in. It was that good! I would drive all the way to OC just for this soup. It was life changing. The sandwich was very fresh and tasty as well. But that soup is what dreams are made of. My lunch date got the very berry salad, the wellness wrap and a fruit bowl. He said the salad dressing was a little too sweet but the wrap was on point. Three stars because the food was really good. The service though needs a lot of work. Busboys wandering around aimlessly while all the glasses on our table were empty. I came here after church this Sunday morning for the first time. The wait wasn't too bad, only about 15 minutes. Concerning the food, I recommend sticking to what they are known for. The multigrain pancakes I ordered were not cooked all the way. Both the multigrain and buttermilk pancakes were good but nothing special. Also our waitress was nice but was a bit aggressive in rushing us to finish eating and pay. Next time I'll be ordering the chicken and waffles because of the numerous reviews! read more

The service was excellent. My waitress was wonderful. Applewood bacon was to die for. In all honesty, that was the best bacon I have ever had. The buttermilk pancakes were so good. I am so tired of going to restaurant that have buttermilk pancakes and they have no flavor. You will not experience that here. My one complaint is that they don't give you anywhere near enough butter. The butter they do give you is colder than the ice in my water. And that always gets me mad because instead of the butter melting and you smoothing on, it make sure pancake cold. And another annoying thing was the fork times were bent. read more

First of all I'm not an egg person, actually I despise them, so I may not be the best person to judge this restaurant but here's my non egg eating impression. I went in with my 3 year old who loves pancakes so we shared a short stack which is plenty, they're pancakes are huge and very thick. I thought they were ok, a little too thick and dense for me but my kiddo gobbled them up! The potatoes were boring and tasteless and everything was cold! Cold breakfast food that's supposed to be hot is the worst! I was in the service industry for years so I can never bring myself to send things back, I just deal with it. Also the service sucked, I didn't get my coffee until after my food came out, which tells you how often our server was checking on us (which was just once at the end to ask if I needed the box and a check) overall I was not impressed and wouldn't waste my time going back! I love to enjoy a good brunch, and broken yolk is a must try. After spending a few hours at disneyland my fiancé and I decided to grab some breakfast and came upon broken yolk in santa ana. The environment was busy with families sitting at their tables chatting, laughing and enjoying their hearty breakfast. The host/hostess took down our name and we waited for about 5-10 minutes. After being seated the hostess informed us that our waiter would be robert, but our server ended up to be kate. Kate was an AMAZING server, she was very friendly and checked up on us every so often to make sure we were enjoying our food or if we needed anything else. I had ordered the nutella crepe w/ bananas and my fiancé had ordered the american breakfast. Both were really good, but the nutella crepe was too much and too sweet. The american breakfast was really good..i ended up eating my fiance's plate instead of mine ^_^ read more
