I had a very early morning- I was packing until 3:30 a.m. was at Long Beach Airport at 5:30 a.m. this morning. Short flight of course to Sacramento, but I needed breakfast and then find my hotel. Happily I chose Brookfields in Roseville to start my day. Completely charming restaurant, I would call it upscale. Happy people dining on a Friday morning Juan my waiter, couldn't have been nicer as I'm new to the area. I had to use my phone a bit checking in with family and he made sure my coffee was hot.. Cinnamon roll was epic, I've got enough breakfast so that I can have lunch in my hotel before I continue with family business. Always love to eat here. This place is frequented by a lot of seniors. The servers/wait staff are always smiling, polite, and pleasant to customers. Never had a bad dining experience here. However, I took away three stars because the last time we went, we noticed something disturbing as diners. It was the night after 4th of July--- the manager and another staff were removing some star decors on the ceiling in the middle of the room were the booths are. Both of them stepped on the booth chairs with their shoes on while doing these----- what? We thought they would wipe off the chairs with some sanitizers, but they just left the chairs they stepped on without wiping it at all!!! I don't even want to imagine where those shoes have travelled. Then came a couple who sat on those chairs--- yikes. Isn't that disturbing? How can patrons be assured of cleanliness in this place if the manager himself isn't aware of that gross practice. Could they potentially step on tables, as well, with their shoes on and not wipe it? I have been there several times and it has always been very good and the people that work there, are very nice!!

The food here is NO better than Carrow's or Mimi's, but this one particular Brookfields restaurant gets my smooch to their glutes. Why? The wait staff here are the most overall fantastic people I've encountered for a plain-Mary-Jane restaurant. What Else Makes Me Kiss Their @$$? + The hood rat attendance here is almost nil. + The crowds at this location are pretty decent - young and old. + A manager here (looks like a worrisome Homer Simpson) gives and receives feedback from serving staff regularly. + Free Wi-Fi + Nope, the burgers ain't my personal best, but they make them to my liking. Temperature, condiments, etc. + Not the easiest place to find. Customer traffic here is at best, medium flow, but ok. It's always there... for ME. + I prefer to order my burgers here, over the overcrowded Red Robins. + Monday-Thursday, they close slightly later than the other restaurants (10PM). Negatives - Warning. The food ain't the greatest BUT... some of the people here make average food taste good. - Outlets to help my tired laptop battery are non-existent. The Other Brookfields - Rancho Cordova. 1. My dumb luck perhaps, but there was a crowd of @$$h0!3$ laughing loudly amongst themselves, reversing the racism - spewing out white people jokes. I just wasn't in the mood for it. 2. The young server taking my order, had this "They don't pay me enough to be nice to anyone" attitude, and didn't come around enough to check on me. 3. The manager who was the cashier time, seemed to only care more about flirting with the prettycustomer, then giving us the cold shoulder. - Madison Ave. This area was so ghetto on a winter night, that this Brookfields closed before their posted time because of the trouble happening there. Because of the unstable nature/hours, I never went back to try. Call this my own twisted personal preference, but when I'm visiting and working late in Roseville, lately, this seems to now be my ONLY preference here. I just feel at home here. This place is so cute and so cozy! No matter what mood you're in they will have something for you. If you're looking for some carbs the French toast is always a win! Super simple and super delicious. The pancakes are good too (nothing special). I'd def stick with the French toast. If you're feeling light I'd suggest any omelette they're pretty good about customizing it for you; the salmon salad is really delicious too. My go to is the Mediterranean salad with a side of fruit. Once again, Brookfields came thru!! Just got home from my 44th birthday celebration!!! Y'all did it all the way thru!! The food was great! The drinks were on time every time and the service was at its best as usual!!! We had a party of 16 and the staff was exceptionally accommodating from the very beginning. We were seated within 10 minutes. Had something to drink shortly after. The food came out perfect and at the same time!!! WOW!!! Amazing!!! Marian was our server and she did an AMAZING job!!! Not sure why this place has an overall 4 star. Ordered the corned beef, side of bacon and sausage and fresh orange juice and coffee. The corned beef portion was small. The scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon clearly of a lower quality and super greasy. Came with some sort of side biscuit, tasted like it was baked last week. The food and service were really good. I had the chicken tangler salad that had a lot of chicken which was very moist. They have really good soups as well but they've gotten pricy at $10. Breakfast and lunch are their best meals. Their dinner entrees aren't as good. Their baked goods are fabulous. read more

Our server came to take the order and bring the food but never to refill coffee. Waffles were awful... extremely sweet and soggy. This is a perfect place for a good, quick, affordable meal. For breakfast I recommend the chorizo scramble, and for lunch and dinner I love their French Dip. The food here is consistently good and filling. It's comfort food. One comment I noticed today is that the wall between the booths that have plants is very dusty. I really enjoy this restaurant every time we come to Rocklin/Roseville. It's kind of become our family tradition to come the night before our son's basketball tourney, check into our hotel, and then go to Brookfields. It is just a great place to have a family dinner. The menu reminds me of the diners in the southeast where you get to pick from home cooked meals that make your mouth water. I've literally never had a bad meal here. I also love that they have a wine selection as well. One of the other things that keeps us coming back is the service. The servers are always friendly and genuinely happy to see you. They are always happy to give recommendations and know their menu inside and out. The only thing I would like to change (and this is just my preference) is that they dim the lights just a little at dinner because it always feels so bright but that is just aesthetics. This is the spot! If it were closer to home I'd be a regular. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a friendly hostess who immediately walked us over to our seat. Shorty after our waitress, Trish arrived and took our drink order. Trish was so sweet and attentive. I ordered the steak and eggs, with perfect crispy potatoes. The steak was juicy and cooked just how I like it, medium. The eggs were over medium (no runny white) and my potatoes were extra crispy, exactly how I ordered them. I also had a warm, fresh, flaky muffin with strawberry jam! My husband had a burger with fries, I didn't taste it because it was gone within a few minutes. DON'T EAT THE CHICKEN! Ordered grilled chicken and veggies. The meal came, and the chicken was very dry... flavorless (other than grill residue,) and had visible veins (which I know doesn't mean much.) We though they over cooked it, and asked our server about it. He took it to the manager, and the manager (nice lady, professional,) came to the table and said another plate was coming out- cooked better. Second plate comes out, and it looked BEAUTIFUL! I mean, the chicken was twice the size, thin breast piece, veggies even looked better! So. First bite. It was like chewing on a piece of rubber. Like, if you were to grab a couple rubber bands and chew on them! I gave a cut to my husband from the other side of the breast piece, and he did the same thing I did... chew... chew... spit out. The meat couldn't be chewed down! And it had an odd... crunch to it. Not crispy crunch, but raw crunchy! The chicken, to our belief, was NOT raw. I think chicken turns white when it's cooked, correct? This was white all the way through, no visible pink! Maybe someone who knows more about chicken could give us some insight? It was not ok- something was really wrong with it! The "flavor" was the same, none. With grill reside. Our server was annoyed the first time back, but when he came back, I tried to tell him that there was something wrong again. He immediately rolled his eyes, twice. He was clearly annoyed and just repeated himself, "this has never happened before," "I can get my manager to comp your meal," .... I told him, we don't want discounts, we don't want free anything, but we ARE very concerned about what's coming out of the kitchen! After he heard we weren't complaining about our meal to get free stuff, he completely tuned me out and could care less about our valid concern. I had the turkey dinner...the fresh veggies were fabulous, mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent, but please reevaluate your recipe for the stuffing, it has a very peculiar flavor, I couldn't tell what it was, but the stuffing was inedible. I've seen it mentioned in a couple of the reviews so it wasn't just an off batch. My dining partner had the prime rib and baked potato which he was happy with. I can't describe how impressed I am with this place. We came here for brunch and ordered the Corned beef Hash and artichoke white omelette. Gina our server told us that they make their Corned beef in house. Not only that but they also source their meats from their own farm and produce from other local places. You can definitely taste the freshness in their ingredients. We also tried the blueberry scones. Hands down the best blueberry scones I've ever had. The blueberries made the scone so juicy, it wasn't too sweet either. Baked fresh every morning the scone was served warm and steamy. This place reminded me of a small town old school diner, family owned with years of history. The staff cared, was friendly and helpful. This will be our go to place for breakfast/brunch! read more

The service was excellent, from the warm and gracious host to the lovely wait staff. I wish I could give this place 6 stars. Food was pretty good and they were able to accommodate our large party of 13 people with only a couple hours notice. Our server was friendly and efficient. She split checks into 3 separate bills and was happy to do so. I had the Reuben and it was delicious. Sweet potato fries were great as well. Kids had burgers and they loved them. My husband had the enchiladas and did not enjoy them at all. He said they were dry and lacked flavor. But... why order Mexican food in an American food restaurant?!? Everyone else in our party enjoyed their various meals. There is a lot to choose from. We wanted to eat at Tahoe Joes down the street but when I tried to make a reservation, I was told no, even if we sat at a couple of tables. REDEMPTION: I have not been back to Brookfields since my last review. It was great seeing Sam step up and take responsibility for the changes that needed to be made since my (heartbreaking) experiences the last couple of visits. Of course, I have never known him to be any different. As I was talking to a friend about the cheesecake which has always been amazing, he asked about the burgers and I told him about my on and now off love for the Dad's burger. After a bit of back and forth we decided to bite the bullet and try one last time. I readied myself to once again be disappointed; But Brookfields brought me back. Our burgers were cooked perfectly, our server Susan, was perfect and attentive, and the person I came to the Sunrise location with, fell in love with the fries. I've been coming here since I was a little kid! Recently a dude I went to high school with became the host and now it really feels like a small world. They just did a renovation on the upholstery and the lobby and it looks very clean and nice. I always get the same server, a very attractive guy named Houston or Austin or something like that, and he's always on point. And really hot. Ive noticed that old people really like to eat here.
