Good local place with a few locations in the Houston area. We always try to split time between a few bbq places in the area. This is close to our house and easy to get food from. Turkey Potatoes are a favorite for us as well as their ribs. Mac n cheese and potato salad are a good choice and then they do have good choices for dessert. Got there and was told they also did not have the regular sausage I ordered. I asked them to delete it from the order, but they couldn't give me a refund because there was no manager on duty? Great place if you are trying to have a big bbq meal and gain some weight haha I got the backed potatoes with all the fixins and it was sooo good and super filling. I got potato salad on the side that was cold and yummy just how I like It. We also got a 2 meat plate with jalapeño sausage that had the right amount of kick to It and ribs with some savory bbq sauce. The employees were friendly and helpful. Never understand why they weigh the BQ sandwich before they give it to you with the meat on the bun. Seems to me you get less meat when they do this? If they are restricked to how much meat goes in a sandwich weigh it before you put it on the bun. I was debating between 4 and 5 starts on this one. Went with 5 because the price off the plates are just too good to overlook. The portions of the food is relatively solid, but I feel like the chicken (1/2 chicken plate) is a little on the small side. So I went back two days in a row and got extra chicken. I realized it was going to be an additional cost, but I felt like it was totally worth it to be honest. The chicken was so moist, and that is exactly the way I like it. I typically get dark meat because the white meat is too dry for my liking at most restaurants. The BBQ sauce that accompanied the chicken at times was also excellent. I thought the green beans were awesome because they had a small crunch to them, like... small; also the flavor was great. I also had macaroni and cheese (shocker if you read my reviews), And I loved the noodle type, the thickness of the sauce although it wasn't too much, but the flavor was just a touch bland for me. Made it out here for the first time after hearing some good things. Left not really appreciating good barbeque. Next time, will head down Highway 6 to go to the infinitely superior Texas BBQ. First, the prices are pretty cheap (they'll run you a few dollars cheaper than your Pappa's or Goode plates), and the portions are sizable, particularly the chicken. They've also got cheap sandwiches and baked potatoes for the lunch folk. However, we were looking for a feast and wanted a good deal with the family meal, only to be rebuffed because that's only for "take out" customers. So wait, we want to pleasure of dining in your company, but can't go full on Texan with a plethora of meats? Where's the Southern Hospitality at its finest? Nevertheless, we bit the bullet and each ordered individual plates, meaning the same amount of food for much more of the cost. Well played, Brookstreet; you need every nickel in this economy. Anyhow, onto the food. The brisket and chicken were both fine, sufficiently tender but slightly on the dry side. The sides were disappointing. I went with the green beans and the yams, both of which are far superior at Texas BBQ. The baked potato casserole was good, though; think the twice-baked potato from Central Market. The sauce was liquidy and very similar to Goode Company. Ok at best. A nice plus was the solid condiment bar, which featured four (!) types of onions (uncooked, uncooked with spices, caramelized, and caramelized in bbq sauce), and the usual jalapenos and pickles. The decor is nice (much nicer than Texas BBQ), but I'm rating the place on the food, and Brookstreet doesn't go that far upstream to justify any more than 3 stars. I come here every once in a while when I get the BBQ cravings. I use to always get the 2 meat plate with 2 sides (jalapeño sausage, turkey, fried okra, yams). Their sauce is nice and thick & they keep it on a warmer. Sweet & tangy. Their condiment buffet has 3 types of onions (plain raw, grilled, seasoned pickled). Today, I am trying their chicken (with bones), jalapeño sausage, fr okra made to order, and yams. The chicken is smoked, not dry not juicy. Pretty good. The sausage is spicy my lips are still tingling 20 min later. I love it. I'll be back. Their portions vary, sometimes I get a lot sometimes I'm missing half a plate. Tried the 4 meat plate (brisket, ribs, sausage, jalapeno sausage) with potato salad and jambalaya. The verdict: Brisket: 2/5 Was very dry and had little to no flavor. All the pieces I got were lean with no fatty brisket, which imo is the best brisket. Very disappointing. Ribs: 4/5 The ribs were actually quite good. The meat was tender, fell off the bone, and seasoned well. Sausages: 1/5 Dry, bland, no juiciness, no flavor. Tasted as if they had been sitting out for a while. Could not bring myself to finish these. Potato Salad: 3/5 Store bought quality, nothing special. Jambalaya: 1/5 Maybe it's because I'm from Louisiana and I was spoiled, but what I got here was not even close to being considered Jambalaya. Flavorless rice with small chunks of sausages thrown in. We reordered loaded baked potatoes. Last time we ordered we got them loaded with meat and bbq sauce and no sour cream. This time they were barely cut open hardly any cheese, no meat, no bbq sauce and maybe a teaspoon of toppings. I called and they told me it was the fault of door dash since I placed the order with door dash. Well I did last time too but Door Dash doesn't prepare it Brookstreet Bbq prepares it. My order was correct on the ticket from door dash. the sweet lady I spoke to at brookstreet barely spoke English and would not admit that they sent out a poorly made order but that door dash was at fault. She did offer for me to drive up myself and she'd fix it. But I can't leave, hence the order through door dash... This is the first bad order we've gotten from Brookstreet. Our first time here and we were pleased to see we picked a great place. We shared the pulled pork & sausage plate, with two sides of Mac and cheese & ranch style beans, it was plenty for us. And the free soft serve cone was nice. The atmosphere is nice. It's clean and spacious. Excellent old country music playing. I wished they had a thicker bbq sauce, as well as more bbq sauce choices. Just had the worst experience with customer service. I had placed a Togo order for 6 combo plates. My husband went to get the order and like most men, did not check the order. He got home and I went through the bags to lay out the food for our big family and said, where is the rest of the food?? Out of 6 plates, only 2 of the orders were in the bags. There were tons of pickles, onions, bread, and BBQ sauce. So my husband just assumed it was all there. I called the restaurant to tell them that of our order was not there....I was the put on hold for 15min until I hung up. Called back, then put on hold again for 15min....finally got someone....she then proceeded to accuse me of lying, saying her co-worker said she put everything in the bag. I would have been totally understanding if the co-worker just apologized and said we are understaffed and we will make it up to you. But instead I was accused of lying. They then said, even though we gave you your order....we will allow you to come back to the restaurant for a partial refund. What?!? Just apologize and offer compensation. I had my whole family in town for the holidays waiting to eat. We Will not be eating there again nor will I recommend them. read more

I"ve been here twice now. The first time I ordered a loaded baked potato. It wasn't very loaded, so I asked for extra chives and they charged me extra. This weekend I decided to give them another chance. I ordered the same thing again...loaded baked potato. This time I added slice brisket to my potato. Once again, my loaded baked potato was not loaded. Also, their menu board says it comes with bacon bits, but there were no bacon bits on my potato. For some reason, they are very stingy with their toppings. Their only redeeming quality was the brisket. It was good and moist. For that reason alone, I gave them two stars. They could get more stars from me if they weren't so stingy with their baked potato toppings! Update: someone from this business reached out to me and stated that they have addressed my complaint. Wow, Brookstreet, way to drop the ball. I called the restaurant to inquire about reserving their private room for a Sunday lunch. They declined my reservation for 50 people on the grounds that they are too busy during that time to reserve the room. I get that the restaurant is busy at lunchtime with the after church crowd. I also understand that this takes up a sizable portion of their seating. "We won't have enough room for our customers..." was the response I got on my inquiry. As if I was going to bring in 50 deadbeat, free-loaders. What do you think the 50 people I was going to bring were? Customers! Care to guess how many people can be seated in the private room? 50. The idea was that I would reserve the room, provide 50 paying customers, and provide a couple of weeks notice for them to prepare. Nope. We can't do that. We tried that once it was a nightmare. We had a line out the door for an hour. Wow... that sounds tragic. I even asked, just to be clear, "so you would rather I take 50 paying customers to another restaurant?" "Well, that or move it to later in the afternoon". If I was a manager here, I would have tried my best to find a way to accommodate this opportunity. I might have even tried to suggest we cater your event off-site. Something, anything other than openly suggesting that a customer take their business elsewhere. I will take my business elsewhere. So upon moving to SL I was glad to see a nice family owned BBQ joint just down the street from the house. I had previously not really ventured into too many different BBQ restaurants, but upon trying the food at this location I changed my mind a bit. I have been here a few times now and at first I was just trying the combo meat plates, but now I've tried a few things and I really have come to enjoy the chopped beef fully loaded baked potato. I'm a huge potato fan and the combo of the chopped beef on a baked potato is fantastic. I never would have thought I'd like something so much. It's the best comfort food. I've been to Rudy's a few times, but I feel like their quality is not as good. Rudy's is just so big now that they are becoming like all the other corporate restaurants. They lower their quality to reduce costs. Plus Brookstreet doesn't seem to have a crazy wait and it's very easy to come in, order food, and leave quickly. It's very convenient and their food is terrific. If you're in SL you should definitely give either one of their two locations a try and get some good old Texas BBQ. read more

I have eaten here several times and do appreciate the meats. The sides need some work, except the potato salad. The veggies I must complain about however. They are straight from the can. You can taste the metal from the can and see that the green beans are not a very natural looking green. They don't try to hide it either. My family has visited this restaurant many times since it open, and at one time it was our favorite BBQ place. I think that they may have had a big management change a few years ago because all of a sudden the slice beef brisket didn't taste as good and meat potion looked smaller. We received a big sticker shocker the last time that we visited the restaurant recently. When I got home I compared my receipt with the previous time that we visited and the price for the slice beef plate was increased from $11.25 to $13.25. Immediately I thought that we do not pay that much at other BBQ restaurants that we visited. Brookstreet Barbeque now charges $13.25 for the sliced beet brisket plate with two sides and we received 4.8 ounces of meat. At our now favorite BBQ restaurant in Rosenberg, we get a slice beef brisket plate for $8.75 and it comes with 7.52 ounces of meat with larger two side orders and the slice beef brisket tastes so much better. When I look back now, I think the only reason my kids liked going to this restaurant was for the ice cream cone (It might be yogurt as far as I know). Sorry Brookstreet Barbeque, but since you keep jacking your prices up, serving smaller portions and the meat is not as tasty as your competitors so we had to start satisfying our BBQ taste buds somewhere else. We have eaten at the Brookstreet Barbeque in Missouri City a couple of times and the slice beef brisket tastes pretty good at that location. That is why I do not think that both locations have the same owners now. read more

Finally a bar-b-que restaurant that I actually enjoy! This is a place that I see myself coming to when I need my bar-b-que craving satisfied. I came here for a weekday lunch, the place was empty except one other person that was eating in. As I made my way to the counter, I skimmed the menu and decided my order - chopped beef po boy with a side of fries. Mmmm, sounds delicious! Good thing I ordered this because it really was delicious! The perfect sauce to beef ratio. Everything meshed perfectly with one another to create a nice afternoon lunch. After paying, I made my way to the small condiment bar and picked out a few things. They have onions, pickles, ketchup, hot sauces and an assortment of other things up for grabs. There are plenty of tables to sit at and a few booths, as well. I decided to sit at one of the tables and proceeded to enjoy my po boy. The fries I ordered were perfectly crisp with just the right amount of thickness. Another little welcomed addition is their free ice cream cones. Next to the condiment bar they have a vanilla ice cream machine and some cones, a nice dessert to end your lunch. If one isn't enough, you can grab seconds, thirds, and however many you need to satisfy that ice cream craving. The only thing that would make this even better is if they had a chocolate flavor option. No worries, though. Luckily this location isn't too far from where I live because I definitely see myself coming here soon. I can't speak for their other items but the chopped beef po boy was just right in satisfying my bar-b-que craving. Even better is that the sandwiches are pretty reasonably priced, however, the other meats may run you a bit more. This is my first time trying out Brookstreet BBQ and honestly it did not meet my expectations when we arrived around 7:30 p.m the place was pretty empty only a couple people were there eating. First thing when we ordered three meat plate they had not marbled brisket only lean. They ran out of ribs for the next 3 meat plate that my friend ordered, on top of that the meats where cold and dried and so was the chicken. The staff was ok you can say seemed like the guy cutting the meat was annoyed that he had work. Only reason why I'm giving it two stars is because they have free ice cream.
