Came here with my partner for dinner and was blown away by everything, including the people. Everyone was so nice and helpful! The vibes were immaculate, felt very community. Classic Long Beach kind of vibes. We got the BBQ sampler which included 4 meats & 4 sides added cornbread and a lemonade and sweet tea, $73 total. For BBQ I feel like everything was reasonably priced! First, I'd like to say that my grandfather was a southern black man and he threw down on some BBQ so my standards are rather high and I haven't been impressed by many Long Beach BBQ places yet unfortunately. Now that my qualifications for criticism on the matter is fact checked, let's get into the meats!!!! Pulled pork was so flavorful and moist no sauce was needed, can't wait to try the sandwich someday for lunch. Burnt ends were perfectly crunchy, saucy, sticky and the meat wasn't dried out at all. I truthfully hate sausage, but this sausage was very balanced in flavor and juicy as hell. The brisket was incredibly tender and fell apart in my mouth, perfect smoky flavor without being all consuming. Both BBQ sauces were great, but I preferred the Carolina sauce as the vinegary taste is one I prefer over the sweeter stuff. For sides we got yams, mac & cheese, collard greens, and potato salad. The yams were perfectly cooked, not mushy or too stiff and the perfect amount of brown sugary sweet. I could eat a whole tub of the Mac & cheese and I think the Gouda added a savoriness that balances the sweetness from some of the other items on the platter. Collard greens have a little Jalapeno kick and are incredibly good. Potato salad has a mustard flavor that compliments the rest of the meats as well. Cornbread was obviously delicious, and the lemonade and sweet tea were very refreshing! Have to say we are sad the ribs weren't available, but very glad to see this place busy. They go until they sell out so just be aware of that. So glad Long Beach has a solid BBQ place, we will be back for more! read more

We drove all the way out from San Dimas to Long Beach just to try this place out wow was it worth it? The food is fabulous. The serving amounts are fabulous. The owner came out and talked to us. This place is definitely worth the drive. The patio is clean, very presentable. Definitely recommend the mac & cheese. Yum. We rode our motorcycle. The food was delicious! 1st time eating at this establishment. Attended the LB BBQ Fest and saw the long line and I said to myself, "the food has to be good," and it sure was. I purchased the combo meal, two meat sides beef brisket and the jalapeño and cheese sausage link with the two sides of baked beans and the macaroni and cheese. Fire!! especially the sausage link. Just had for lunch on a Friday. Short line. Best BBQ I have had on west coast. Had brisket, spare ribs, cornbread, collard greens. Everything was good. This is rare, most local places are maybe good at one thing at mediocre at others. Friendly service, owner greeted us. While the meat did not need sauce, the sauce is outstanding, the owner said it is his mother's recipe. Premium BBQ prices here, but Brothers keeper is saving you hundreds of dollars by not needing to traveling to get something of this quality. So that's a win. Five stars overall. On a scale of 10 being top in TX (La BBQ, Franklin for example), I'd give this an 8. The minor difference being how meticulous the top places are about the quality of every bite on the plate, it's just nearly impossible to replicate. But this place can hang, I very recently ate at Terry Blacks in Fort Worth; BK was better. I hope BK has great success and glad to have them in the neighborhood. Some of the best barbecue I have had in years. You can tell the people preparing this food genuinely care about whether or not it is good. It is very good indeed. The brisket was sliced perfectly with both lean and fatty cuts provided, the pulled pork was flavorful with a perfect bite, both the bbq sauces i received were incredible with special mention for the carolina style yellow sauce. Arguably the best macaroni and cheese I have gotten from a bbq place. The most important part besides the food: everyone seemed happy to be at work. First, we love this area in Long Beach (we love Long Beach in general actually) and are always looking for places with great vibes, and this one definitely had great vibes. The outdoor seating is so cute (and great music choice this day ). It was just such a nice place to sit and eat at on a beautiful Saturday. As for the service, it was amazing. Everyone was professional and attentive, and we even got to speak to Mo, the owner. My boyfriend is from the south & moved to long beach and has always been on the hunt for BBQ that he could get behind here in LB & love. nothing was really cutting it until Brother Keeper came along!! lunch today for the first time filled that missing piece he's been looking for since moving here. we wrrreeeecked that plate. literally nothing left. I was so happy to see him so happy here today and talking to so many other people across tables who were also from kentucky/mississippi/tennessee, etc and bonding over bbq & sharing stories. the space outdoors is sooo welcoming and warm. we shared a table + beach with some people we didn't know and got to talk to others during our lunch. I feel like the community element of brothers keeper was a lovely touch through those picnic tables and we loved it & loved meeting new people and those tables are meant to be shared helps people get to know one another and enjoy an experience. We tried as many things as we could: brisket sandwhich, spareribs, jalepeneo cheddar sausage, mac, & potato salad. only one that's not pictured here is the ammmmmazing banana pudding. delicious food & such a kind and welcoming owner + staff. owner was so kind and so was his sweet dad who was visiting in town!! his dad killed it today!! I've tried to have Brothers Keeper for a while now but my schedule and their bbq being sold out has kept me away until today. We were greeted right away and joked about the city blocking the streets working on the sewer, lol. But the owner (I'm assuming he is) was positive and welcoming. The workers very nice, despite have their section of 4th street closed right in front of their establishment. Anyway, let's get back to the food. I went looking for their cheddar sausage only to be told that they don't have any and will tomorrow - bummer. After crying inside for 2 seconds, I decided on the 2 meat, 2 sides meal. Brisket was selected, and thankfully I was convinced by my partner to get the pulled pork (not my preferred choice anywhere). I've always turned away pull pork and expected to feel the same with BK's but I was happily surprised that it was tasty. I dipped it in the bbq sauce and thought, ok, I can eat it with or without. The sauce sort of reminds me of banana ketchup a little but it grew on me and before I knew it, I was dipping everything in it. The brisket was bouncy and tender and made me think of my mom's cooking, mind you, she doesn't cook anything except southeast Asian cuisine. What does this have to do with bbq, you might ask? Not the taste, but the fact that it reminds me of my mom is always a plus for me because she's a phenomenal cook, and I love my mom. The Mac and cheese is solid and the honey corn bread. Yum. The potato in the potato salad could be cooked a tad longer but I ordered that for partner and not me. As I was sitting with my love at the bench with the breeze blowing through this wonderfully cool first of July day, eating something hearty, I thought nothing could be better. It did get better.
